A Kingdom Hearts III feature will be included in the upcoming Weekly Famitsu issue, and Esoteru has posted a summary of its highlights online. News Team member Dengojin has translated them as below:

• The KH3 development team have been planning for a Toy Story world since Kingdom Hearts II, but had to go through a number of negotiations for it to finally appear on KH3.
• The story in the Toy Story world will take place after Toy Story 2, and will follow its canon timeline rather than taking place in a parallel storyline.
• At the beginning, Sora is mistaken for another character from a new game being sold.
• Riding a robot to fight was an early idea sent at the beginning of the development to the KH3 development team.
• Development on the Big Hero 6 world is going well, and the next information on it is on its way.
• The number of Disney worlds in KH3 are less than in KH2*, but they will be vast and have more content in them.
• The number of cutscenes in Final Fantasy VII Remake is greater than in KH3, and they are taking a long time to develop.
• Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura is designing the organization members for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It was a request that came from his old mentors who used to take a good care of him when he was a newcomer, and he couldn't refuse that request.
• There are no unannounced titles that Nomura is directing, but he is involved in many.

*There were 12 Disney worlds (excluding original Kingdom Hearts worlds) in Kingdom Hearts II, implying that the number of Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts III may be less than 12.

 

Toy Story is the latest world revealed for Kingdom Hearts III through the trailer unveiled last week at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The Weekly Famitsu feature, which will recap the event and include an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, will be published on July 20 in Japan. Stay tuned with us for updates and translations!

again, if it means we get a tighter experience in the worlds in terms of gameplay and story that's fine with me. KH2 had a problem with the second visits to each world, and while i didn't mind it, you could tell each second visit felt like a bit of a stretch. storywise it made sense because Sora and co. were now going around looking for the Organization but that probably should have been the original reason for visiting worlds in the first place. 

 

still, i think this will turn out to be for the best. it's good they aren't trying to stretch themselves so thin. hopefully the unique aspects of each world don't boil down to bad gimmicks though. i'd totally settle for just larger and more detailed maps to traverse and explore as opposed to little gameplay gimmicks.

Well, we have 5 announced worlds (Twilight Town/Mysterious Tower; Olympus; Kingdom of Corona; Toy Story and Big Hero 6). It will definitely have Radiant Garden, TWTNW and Keyblade Graveyard (I would say Castle Oblivion is going to be back too, but that's a Lon shot I think), making a total of 8 worlds. I'm betting on 6 more Disney Worlds for KH3 right now...

I prefer that they take their time and complete the whole game...The worlds in KH are part of the story, it would be unfair to sell worlds as DLC and leaving a bunch of players without knowing that part of the story (since a lot of players don't usually buy them). I actually don't see how DLC can fit on KH without triggering a good part of fans, but I think the best approach would be special items like keyblades or a boss battle.

So there will be less Disney worlds in KH3 if they are as big as we have seen and could be bigger than that then I am ok with that.  Again that is just Disney worlds so far we have four confirmed Disney(Pixar) worlds, Tangaled, Olympus Coliseum, Big Hero 6, and now Toy Story, the chance for some returning worlds seems a bit lower now because of this.  As long as Agrabah comes back I'm ok, we need to finish the Aladdin trilogy with Forty Thieves and if the worlds are going to be as big as they make it seem to be then that world would be perfect for this.

I'd be totally fine if they just added things to the already existing worlds, that'd be just Final Mixes in form of DLCs. I just don't want them to add new, complete worlds, because I'd rather have them in future games at full potential.

Yeah, I thought something like Caverne of Remembrance would be nice as a DLC. I still don't like the idea of complete worlds as DLC, i Just fell it would be like "hey you just bought a $60 game and now you can pay $5 for a brand new world that was supposed to be in the game all along!", you know? But like I always say when it comes to KH3: let's not judge or fight for something we haven't seen nor understand how it will truly work.

Hmmmmmm if there are less worlds I wonder if there will be more revists then KH2 or will you be able to complete a world in a single run?Its a bit disappointing,in my mind sequel should always have a it more or at least the same amount of anything,but hey at least the worlds will be much bigger this time,but Kingdom Hearts as never been about the exploration anyway,its just fun to fight monsters,hopefully they will be stuffed with meaningfull content and reward players with Keyblades and mini-bosses and cutacenes,etc

Well, there has to be a reason it will be episodic, right? Otherwise it wouldn't make sense to split it up since KH3 was mentioned to be rather massive content-wise as well. (Though it is hard to tell if that's still the case or if they did not exaggerate like with FFXV.)

 

But you're right, I wouldn't mind fewer worlds with how large they are and if they are incorporated into the main plot. KH2 had quite a few redundant worlds such as Pride Lands, Timeless River and Disney Castle to some extent, and worlds like 100 Acre Wood or Atlantica which did not really provide much other than optional content which was more or less nice to experience but not exactly necessary.

 

Which is why I could imagine DLC to be something similar. I would also like to have the full experience upon purchase and I'm not fond of it at all, but if they're gonna do it, I'd rather have them include worlds which people might want to revisit for optional content but do not add anything absolutely relevant.

I mean we're talking about Sora after all who promised all over the place that he'd come and visit again.

Pride Lands is definitely not returning. No mention about Halloween Town whatsoever. That was a mis-translation from click bait articles.
