Will we see the FF7 remake at E3?

Recommended Posts

I'm incredibly hyped for this game! EXTREMELY pumped! I really hope there's something at E3 but I doubt there will be. If it does appear it'll be at the Sony conference. Even a small trailer (1-2 minutes) will be cool with me, it's without a doubt the most anticipated game of the past 7-8 years so not keeping us updated is a bad move. Since the demand is really high :P

We also have this http://kh13.com/news/hashimoto-nomura-state-their-plans-for-2016-to-famitsu-nomura-says-kingdom-hearts-iii-is-in-a-significant-time-of-development#commentsStart

Imagine the trailer ending and then we see this scene in UE4

I don't believe we will see it this year. Square always focus in just only one major title and with FFXV just around the corner I believe they won't show nothing that could possibly steal FFXV's attention at the show. It also means that we won't see anything for KH3 too.

But who knows!? Maybe the suprise us this year.... I'm not expecting a thing from them.

Kingdom Hearts 3?

Well aside from me not giving a shit about KH3

Kingdom Hearts is nowhere near as big as Final Fantasy, let alone Final Fantasy VII which to this day is still Square's best selling game

with ff XV coming in september they might be thinking about not splitting people's focus on other things.

who knows? that's the fun with e3

if I had to take a guess I'd say no and they'll save it, along with bigger kh new for TGS. E3 will probably be a big ad for ffXV release.which makes sense in a way.

but again. the hell we know about SE's way of thinking.

so, expect nothing.be surprised

The hype behind KH3 is tiny when you compare it to FF7 remake or the hype for XV at the moment.

Well of course it'll be there since it's...........y'know......the biggest game they have there aside from Final Fantasy XV

KH3 and FFXV hype is nothing compared to FF7 hype. I've only play Crisis Core, yet I'm still hyped.

Also, I don't think FFXV will be there since they already had their event, if you're not sold on the game yet then it's not for you.

I guess you know nothing then... Most gamers nowadays are expecting that trinity of games, all as equally important. Yet FF7's hype has gone down for its episodic nature. I'd say the most hype of them is FFXV, because it's the one we'll play the soonest. And KH3 and FF7 are at the same level of hype, believe me. BTW: FFXV is already confirmed for E3 this year, and for the time being it's the only one of the 3. We're in for surprises I guess :)

Well to you maybe but there is a lot riding on XV's success and by a lot I mean the fate of the franchise's relevancy

7 is hype and all but people are already skeptical about the remake due to it being episodic as confirmed by Square

Also how is it not for me?I'm gonna pick XV on day one cuz unlike KH3 the team behind XV actually did a good job convincing me with the latest demos and trailers

I disagree. And like Phoenix Wright, I'll present some evidence.

I can't screenshot since the files are too big :(.  But here's KH3's full blown E3 2015 trailer, with currently

33,885 likes, 890 dislikes.

Now look at the FF7 Remake E3 2015 TEASER Trailer

With 13,860,529 views. 119601 Likes, 2649 dislikes.

The teaser for FF7 remake has 3.6 times as many views as KH3's full blown trailer. The newest FF7 Remake trailer has 4,931,780 views currently and it's only 2 minutes long.

Oh and here's the announcement trailer for KH3

With a mere 1,691,621 views and 17,186 likes.

And here's the icing on the cake. Let's add every single KH3 trailer's views together and see what we get. We'll use the videos with the largest amount of views.

( E3 2013) 1,691,621+  (D23 2013) 1,923,027  + (E3 2014 Teaser) 1,810,932 + (E3 2015) 3,869,131 + (TGS 2015) 1,051,333

*DRUM ROLL

10,346,044.Although this an approximation, it' s still way less than the FF7 E3 2015 trailer. Every KH3 trailer COMBINED, using the maximum amount of views that each trailer got on youtube, still has less views than FF7 Remake's TEASER trailer.

Views=Popularity which is basically hype/excitement

Video sources are in the spoiler tag

Oh and check out the views on the reaction videos. There is one with slightly more views than this, but it includes FFXV footage also, so I'm not including it.

Barely breaks half a million views 442,888

This one from last year's E3 barely broke 100,000 views

This FF7 one broke a million views, not bad for a reaction video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1vSYIHlMp8

I think that's enough data.

Sony's publicity is pretty good, I admit it. I mean EVERYONE IN THE WORLD started clamoring for the Remake back in the day when they showed the tech demo. And last year they finally confirmed what people clamored for about 10 years. Best marketing ever, IMHO. But that doesn't mean the hype is bigger than KH3. Hype is just the same. ANTICIPATION is another thing. Two different terms. FF7 is more anticipated than KH3, that is true, and I will not argue to that. BTW, you stated that views = popularity, which is basically hype. Compare that to the current Call of Duty situation LOL. Not many people are hyped about the game xD. Still popular though, I can't argue on that.

Not a final fantasy fan, but I'm pretty sure the only reason why FF7 remake got more views then the kingdom hearts 3 e3 2015 trailer is because final fantasy itself is more well known then the kingdom hearts series, so I guess FF7 could be at e3

Considering that Square is not holding their own conference and that any Japanese titles would likely be shown at Sony's conference, here is what Sony would be showing off:

Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy VII Remake

World of Final Fantasy

Kingdom Hearts 3

Kingdom Hearts 2.8

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness

Possible BD1 new project (believed to be Final Fantasy X-3)

Nier: Automata

While Square and Sony do have a great relationship, there is no way that Sony would allow Square to take that much time at their show (not even considering any of Square's western developed titles)

Realistically, here is what you can expect:

Final Fantasy XV

Kingdom Hearts 2.8

World of Final Fantasy

They will want to focus on titles closer to release

It will likely be PSX or next E3 before we see Final Fantasy VII Remake again, although we will likely get new details from interviews with Nomura.

But you've got to admit its popularity isn't exactly because it's a hype game.

As for the whole Episodic thing, people will get over it. I'm not sure, but I thought the original FF7 had multiple discs and if it did the only difference would be that you're not getting them all at once, they are full games, and they might all be the price of a normal game now a days. Plus, If the game is good enough then people won't care about it, but if it's not then it will just be one of the flaws the game will have.

@Smash Mega Koopa I wasn't talking about you specifically, I was talking about the people who weren't sold on the game yet.

Also, for the non-hardcore KH fans, Sephiroth is the hardest secret boss. A FF7 secret boss, even though there are waaay stronger secret bosses in the KH series, the one you hear people say the most is him.

I didn't deny the hype for the remake

All I'm saying is not a lot riding on the remake's success cuz it won't progress the series aside from being a remake of a well beloved game

XV is the next big new entry in the mainline Final Fantasy series,XIII recieved mixed reactions and despite the first XIII selling a lot at first a lot of stores reported a huge influx of returned copies not to mention the sales of the following sequels to XIII dwindling and the massive failure that was the original PC version of Final Fantasy XIV before they revived it with A Realm Reborn and Heavensward and the less I say about FF All the Bravest the better

The Final Fantasy brand has been damaged severely during the past six years cuz aside from A Realm Reborn sales have been at an all new low for the series and in terms of quality modern Final Fantasies became a joke among both fans and media outlets

If FFXV didn't succeed in regaining the old glory the franchise used to have and didn't recieve well among fans and critics or god forbid flops in sales................Then Final Fantasy would be put on life-support if not become dead

I can see what you mean, but a lot is kind of riding on 7 remake as well. If 7 does well it will let SE know that people still love the old games but also would love to see them modernized or changed a bit, 7 could be a gateway to other FFs to get remakes or sequels. So, I feel a lot is riding on both because if 7 fails then we probably won't be getting remakes or sequels to the older games if the audience isn't there. (I low key want a FF9 remake)

What you're talking about is the future of remakes with 7

but with XV THE FUTURE OF SQUARE AS A COMPANY RIDES ON IT

XV was in development hell for TEN YEARS and if that game didn't sell well enough to make up for the ginormous development cost...............then wait to have Square in the same situation they were in back when FF The Spirits Within bombed

The thing is, this year I went to Salón del Manga in Barcelona and there was a booth where you could play Episode Duscae. I was chatting to random people and asked them which game of the 3 they were the most pumped for, and they said XV, and then KH3 and FFVII in the same amount. And some were even cosplaying as Aerith and Cloud, so that is saying a lot. The answer surprised me, believe me. I thought the KH3 hype was very little in comparison to the FF hype, but that's not the case. Anyways, you my friend and Shinobi Palace have increased my hype level to over 9000 after me watching all the videos you both gathered back there. Props to you LOL.
