Chapter 1

Beginning

Greetings. No, that sounds too formal. Yo? Nah. Oh, I know. Hello. The name's Simon. Simon Kendon. I'm the hero of this tale. But I started out as a regular guy with an exceptional friend. But more on that later, for now I'm going to tediously equip you with some necessary knowledge before you enter into my... world? Worlds? Meh, figure it out for yourself. Now then... let the vocabulary lesson begin!

Dimsen- an inhabitant of the Eight Dimensions

Syir- a Dimsen who can control one of the five natural elements, fire (Fire Syir), rocks (Rock Syir), water (Water Syir), wind (Wind Syir), and plants (Plant Syir)

Elve- a Dimsen with powers over light (Elve) or darkness (Dark Elve)

Kamen- a special Syir with control over all five of the natural elements

Dormen- a silvery slime-like liquid that unlocks all powers of a Dimsen

Duel- A challenge between a Seer(s) and/or an Elve(s) which tests their skills. It is a fight to the death, but instead of death, they dissipate and reanimate elsewhere. Duels are a common pass time within the Eight Dimensions

Wheng- an ancient race of fist fighting warriors who are usually pretty strange

Central Dimension- the largest of the Eight Dimensions, is the Dimsen homeland and a habitat for anamatron

Anamatron- a robot that takes the shape of an animal

Kaal- a Syir’s animal companion that can change sizes

Red Dimension- the dimension of fire and is littered with volcanoes

Green Dimension- the dimension of plants and is an endless forest

Gray Dimension- the dimension of wind and has no ground just the ever- blowing winds that you can ride on even if you aren’t a Wind Syir

Blue Dimension- the dimension of water and is an endless ocean that you can breathe under even if you aren’t a Water Syir

Brown Dimension- the dimension of stone (rocks), a land of mountains and deserts

White Dimension- the dimension of light. Black Dimension- the dimension of darkness.

Khingjo- a Dimsen’s true weakness and if touched, the Dimsen is overwhelmed with evil and goes on a rampage and destroys everything in his or her path

There will be plenty other things to learn as you progress through these adventures. Enjoy.

Chapter 2

Dormen

Well, guess what... I’ve just turned thirteen! That’s important for me because when a Dimsen turns thirteen, they can drink Dormen without spontaneously internally combusting. My friend, David and I share a birthday, actually. You’d think we could be twins. We look exactly the same besides the fact that he’s a few inches taller than me and that his hair is jet black while mine is a light shade of brown. When I made it to a lodge-like building, David was standing there waiting for me. “I’m first!” we said in unison. We started arguing and then we decided to decide it through rock-paper-scissors. I won. When I stepped inside I was immediately greeted by an old man wearing a tattered tuxedo, his gray hair sticking out on the sides leaving a large bald spot on the top of his head and his pointy beard splitting into three at the end. Buhmki. Most people say that Buhmki is insane. Most agree. Buhmki handed me a glass of Dormen and I chugged it down. I felt a prickling on the front of my left shoulder. Then it started to swell as if something was crawling out. A fuzzy wasp made its way out of my shirt and flew in front of my face, then in Buhmki’s. “Ah, Bingz haven’t seen you in a while.” He said. The wasp gave an exited buzz then flew onto my shoulder. I turned around and left.

_____

I sat outside for about five minutes until David came out a small yellow dragon fluttering around his head. “I never knew you had a green thumb, Simon.” He said. He knew I was a Plant Syir. “Eh, I’m just as Kamen as they come.” I replied. That’s right, David was the Kamen. Yeah, sure we joked about but eventually we were about to get in a mess of trouble from it.

Chapter 3

A Duel With Twins

David and I finished laughing and two of our other friends joined in: Sabrina and Celeste Romana.

Now, they are twins. Differences: Sabrina’s hair is black while Celeste’s is white with a blue streak down the the right side. Sabrina’s hair goes over her left eye in front of her Khingjo. Celeste has a four- point star under her right eye. Sabrina usually wears a black jacket over a white shirt and Celeste usually wears a white jacket over a black shirt. Apparel changes occasionally. Lastly Celeste is an Elve while Sabrina’s a Dark Elve. End of lesson.

“What’s so funny?” Celeste asked. “I d-d-don’t... N-nothing, it’s nothing.” David stammered. I had a thought but it slipped me. Trying to get it back I ended

up counting the number of times David stuttered. I lost count at seven. Then it hit me.

“DUEL!!” I shouted then jumped out of the way as a gray circle made it’s way to a seemingly endless diameter.

My sword in its sheath appeared on my back and I pulled out my weapon. David, Celeste, and Sabrina seemed to have scattered.

A strong wind blew at me. I let it carry me. I flew about five meters when a jet of flame started flying toward me. I had a vine grab me and pull me to the ground so the fire shot over me. I heard a rumbling under me and rolled out of the way as soon as David popped out of the ground. I entangled him with a bunch of thick vines and roots immobilizing him. A giant yellow dragon dove for me but, lucky me, two energy beams shot at the snared David; one black, the other white. Upon impact, he disappeared along with his dragon, Korgen.

“Well events are unfolding in a way I would have preferred.” I announced.

Celeste and Sabrina both shot energy beams at me. Lucky me, again, Bingz, in giant form, blasted a layer of his stinger at Celeste,

taking her out, and took Sabrina’s hit for me. He disappeared along with Celeste.

“How about now?” Sabrina asked me.

I raised my sword and Sabrina got out her whip. I charged, when I was almost within striking distance I drew my sword back for a lunge but then Sabrina drew he whip back I spun on my right foot.

Slice, Stab. I don’t care as long as I win. I thought to myself.

Unfortunately Sabrina’s target... was my right foot. So, halfway through my rotation Sabrina yanked back on her whip and I fell flat on my face.

“Game over.” Sabrina said, moving in for the “kill.” “Not quite.” I muttered. I was about to pull out my final trump card. Surprisingly (to you

readers), my trump card was a wild card. I reached out and drew a flower out of the ground. It looked

kind of like a cherry blossom but it was bright red with some orange in the middle. I didn’t know what to do with it so I threw it out towards Sabrina. Next thing I knew there was this huge explosion.

Very good so far. I would reccommend not splitting up sentences in different lines as with

Chapter 4

Ekragei Anthos

The next next thing I knew was laying on the ground next to Sabrina. My face was hot, either from embarrassment or the explosion. Probably the latter.

A couple of minutes after Sabrina came to, David and Celeste found us.

“Simon!” David shouted. “That was awesome! One of the coolest things I’ve seen in my life!”

“That really was amazing.” Celeste agreed. “So,” Sabrina said, “I guess it’s a tie.” “Yeah.” I agreed. “What was that by the way?” Sabrina asked. “Frankly,” I replied, “I have absolutely no idea.” Everyone was silent for a moment until Sabrina fell back and

started laughing. “What’s so funny?” Celeste asked. Sabrina pointed at me and said “It was fluke! You got lucky. It

was a total fluke that you almost beat me.” she said. “Well then, do you want to find out whether or not I could really

beat you?” I asked angrily. Sabrina sighed and said... “No, not now.” “What? Why not?” Sabrina got up and started walking away, “Several reasons: gives

us practice time, it’s late, I’m tired, and... it makes it more... dramatic.” I groaned. She was right. I would need some practice to perfect that new move I made. My signature technique. The Ekragei Anthos.

Chapter 5

A Training Mistake

Well I decided to get started on that training. Flower after flower I could never get lucky enough to draw out the Ekragei Anthos.

But then I pulled out a dark purple flower. It shot a strange gas into my face. I started coughing and threw it away. Then I started to feel dizzy, then I was on the ground and then...

_____

Sabrina here. I’m narrating because Simon was unconscious at this moment.

Anyways, I was shocked when something happened to Simon. There I was training when all the sudden David shows up telling me that there’s something wrong with Simon. Celeste was with me and the three of us rushed over to the infirmary.

When we arrived we saw Simon laying on a white bed, pale as a ghost and shivering.

“What happened?” I asked Buhmki who was standing next to the

bed.

“Poison.” He replied. “Judging by the speed of the effect probably gaseous.” No one really understood his logic there, but nobody really does, ever.

“David,” he continued, “I want you to go get Jenna, she should be able to solve something like this.”

Jenna! The name screamed through my mind.

The mere thought of that girl nearly drove me up the wall. Jenna Kido is an Advanced Wind Syir. An Advanced Syir is someone who has obtained the elemental gemstone of that element’s dimension and has gained a serious amount of power. Jenna’s blonde, popular, always wears a pair of her diamond earrings, and frankly is way to perky for my liking, I can hardly stand being in the same room as her.

She came here through the Gray Dimension’s portal into our district, (the Central Dimension is divided into many districts with borderlines created by the hypothetical line created by the dimensional portals. Any area between districts is wild anamatron territory.) Turns out, she came from a district on the other side of the dimension. I left the room so I wouldn’t have to be with that social hurricane.

_____

and then... I was laying in a white bed. The first thing I saw was Jenna’s face inches from mine. She smiled and stepped back, I sat up.

“What happened?” I asked.

“I might ask you the same thing.” Buhmki replied, “What do you remember?”

I explained to Buhmki about how I was training and the purple flower shot that gas in my face.

“Ah,” Buhmki said, “that gas was a near deadly poison. You got to be more careful.”

“Luckily for you,” Jenna said, “I was close enough to the infirmary to save you.”

“Thanks Jenna.” I said. “But I really have to go now.”

“Well then,” Buhmki said, “if you think you’re healthy enough to leave,”

“Which he is.” Jenna interrupted, confident in her handiwork.

Buhmki continued, “then maybe you’re ready for your first quest.”

Chapter 6

First Quest

“Really?” I asked. “What? When?”

“As soon as possible, you will take David, Jenna, Celeste, and Sabrina to the Green Dimension and stop a sludgeon army from polluting any more of the forests. You will then drive them back into the sludge forests and create a new barrier.”

“I get to go on the quest too?” Jenna asked excitedly.

“Yes,” Buhmki replied, “your advanced wind power will be needed to successfully create a working barrier.”

“Yes!” she shouted softly. “Okay,” I said, “Jenna, let’s get the others.” She nodded. Getting David to come along was easy, Celeste: also easy. But

when we told Sabrina the news, she freaked, and not in the good way. “What?” she shouted.

“Buhmki needs you, your sister, David, Jenna, and me to solve a sludgeon problem in the Green Dimension.”

“No.” she said sternly. “Why?” David asked. Sabrina lightly jerked her head toward Jenna. Celeste and I were

the only ones who noticed. “Come on sis,” Celeste said, “this is your first quest in a large

group like this.” “And when was the other one?” Sabrina replied. “Oh yeah,” Celeste said, “You were unconscious most of the

time.” “What do you mean?” Sabrina asked angrily. “Just come with me.” Celeste replied. Celeste guided Sabrina just out of earshot and whispered

something into her ear. When they came back, Sabrina had a mischievous look on her

face.

“She’ll go.” Celeste said.

And with that, we left.

Chapter 7

Midnight Conversations

It was my first time traveling through a dimensional portal. Frankly, it was a lot cooler than I thought, but also a lot more disorienting. It looked like a bunch of different shades of green swirling together. I also felt like I was spinning. And the way you just flew, it was like falling only you were going forward.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity we exited in a crash landing. Except for Jenna who was hovering a few inches above the ground. She came to help me up.

“Thanks.” I said.

“No, problem.” She said, brushing some hair out of her face. After everyone recovered we started our trek toward the sludge

forest. After a couple of hours we stopped to rest. It was getting dark, so we decided to camp out for the night. We decided on a watch order; the twins, then David and Korgen, then Jenna, then me and Bingz. As soon as I fell asleep I entered the world of dreams.

_____

I was standing somewhere else in the Green Dimension. The forest was a lot more dense and tropical. Sitting on a rock was a guy in a dark green cloak plucking petals from a flower. His hood was up so I couldn’t see his face.

“Who are you?” I asked.

“I am the Cleric of the Green Dimension.” He replied. His voice deeper than I would have expected.

“The what?” I asked.

“Ah, I forgot,” he said, “you are young. I am simply the Wheng that maintains the order within the Green Dimension.”

“Then why are my friends and I taking care of the sludgeon problem?”

“I am only called into action when creatures from other dimensions show up in the Green Dimension. Now, I understand you are having difficulty perfecting a new technique.”

“How do you know about that?” I asked.

“Because I know you are destined for great things, Simon, and you will not experience that greatness unless you master that technique.” He replied.

I thought I had something to say but then I woke up. It was really dark but my eyes started to adjust. I could see the silhouette of Jenna and something on her shoulder. My eyes were fully adjusted to the lack of light after some time and I could make out some of what she was saying. I know I shouldn’t have been eavesdropping but I can’t help but listen when there is nothing else going on.

It seemed to be a Northern Saw-Whet Owl that was perched on her shoulder, and she was talking to it. The owl must have been her Kaal.

“I know I like him, I just can’t bring myself to tell him.” she told the owl.

It gave a short hoot and she replied, “I’m being shy? You’re the one who doesn’t even show herself when she’s around anyone but me.”

I got up and Jenna’s head quickly turned towards me and the owl flew away.

“Whoa, watch it Jenna, I’m a friend.” I declared.

“Oh, um, hi, Simon.” she said, “What are you doing up?”

“Why were you talking to an owl?”

“Touché. Wait, you heard all of that?”

“Saw, not heard.” I replied.

She sighed with relief. “Speaking of the owl, Zen, would you get over here, Simon is really nice and really friendly.”

“Aw, I’m touched.” I said.

She laughed, “and funny too.” After a while, Zen, the shy northern saw-whet owl flew in and perched on Jenna’s shoulder. “Zen, Simon; Simon, Zen.” She said.

“Good,” I said, “since the introductions are over let’s start with some small talk what were you talking about?”

“Oh, um, nothing.” She said.

“Sure.” I replied sarcastically. “Well,” I started, “you and Zen should get some sleep, it’s time

for me and Bingz to take watch.” Bingz came out with a dutiful buzz and Zen flew away. Jenna and I both laughed a little.

Chapter 8

A Combination of Strength and Cowaridce

The night was over and we were all still pretty tired. But, we had work to do so we couldn’t sleep in. After a while, we encountered our first sludgeon. David got a bit too excited and burned it to a crisp. No one really cared, sludgeons are mindless pests anyways. Some time after that we found an entire mass of sludgeons.

“David, Celeste,” I said, “You two handle these.” Jenna, Sabrina and I will reform the barrier.”

And with that I lead Sabrina and Jenna to the outskirts of the sludge forest. Frankly, I had no idea where I was going. I guess my Plant Syir instincts were just taking over.

Finally we made it and we were greeted by two extremely large sludgeons. Jenna looked away and blew one into the forest and Sabrina beat me to the other and blew it to bits. Most of those bits landed on Jenna. She yelped with surprise and I could tell that Sabrina was trying so hard not to laugh. I looked up into the sludge forest. It looked no less normal than the surrounding area except that all the trees were dead and covered in purple slime.

“Jenna, create a wind dome around the sludge forest and Sabrina, solidify the barrier.” I ordered.

“And what do you do?” Sabrina asked.

“Make the plans and guide us this far.” I replied.

Sabrina decided not to argue back and used her dark energy to solidify Jenna’s rapidly moving wind dome. “Great, we’re done.” I said. As we made our way back to the action where David and Celeste were probably finished. I stepped in a puddle, but after I stepped in, I couldn’t get out. I turned and realized that Sabrina was stuck in a similar puddle.

“What’s the deal with this?” she asked.

“How should I know?” I replied.

The only person that wasn’t stuck was Jenna, but that was because she was hovering a foot above the ground.

As an answer to Sabrina’s question a deep echoing voice like a knight with his helmet on said “Good, you fell for my trap.”

Out from a clump of trees stepped what really did look like a knight. But this knight was wearing purple armor with no sheen. Jenna yelped.

“What the heck is this thing?” I asked.

“It’s a jack sludgeon.” Jenna replied fearfully. I gulped. There are 13 different kinds of sludgeons. Each level is based the number of a playing card. Yes, we have those here too. Where do you think Earth got them? Anyways, ace, or one, being the smallest and most pathetic sludgeons all the way up to the jack, then the queen, then the king. Those three take humanoid forms. Then, there’s the joker, even more pathetic than the ace, easier to defeat, but a lot harder to hit. They’re elusive, and annoying. This jack sludgeon, on a chance encounter is going to have to fight some rookie Dimsen.

Jenna was trembling. From what I’ve seen, Jenna is super powerful, but, let’s face it. She’s not much of a fighter. That, and she’s terrified of sludgeons. With Sabrina and me trapped, Jenna’s going to have to fight this jack sludegeon herself... we’re dead.

A lance protruded from the jack sludgeons hand and it charged. Jenna was frozen with fear, she wouldn’t move.

“Jenna! Move!” I shouted.

That got to her, she leaped out of the way. The sludgeon turned and charged. All Jenna could do was dodge. I was thinking of ways to help. It hit me. Jenna had allergies. The sludgeons trap may have immobilized me but I still had movement in my tongue. I drew some pollen out of a nearby tree and guided it toward Jenna’s face. She inhaled it without noticing. Good.

After another dodge, Jenna sneezed. I was right. Under these conditions, Jenna’s sneeze wasn’t a normal one, it was a powerful one that sent a huge gust of wind flying toward the jack sludgeon. The force of the wind took it apart piece by piece.

With the sludgeon gone, its trap dissipated.

“Well,” Sabrina said, “we’re alive... didn’t think that would happen.”

“Hey.” Jenna said, annoyed. “I’m not that hopeless.”

“Who cares,” I interrupted, “Let’s go find Celeste and David.” So, we found Celeste and David, we told them are interesting story, they told us their less interesting story, and we returned to the Central Dimension.

Wow, I have got to say, I really like how this story is going along, and I loved how you put a vocabulary at the beginning of the story to make sure that people would understand the terms and words used in your story.  I hope to see more of this, as I'll be looking forward to more chapters!  I salute you fellow writer! :D

Chapter 9

Rainbow?

It had been about a week or two since my first quest and I had been training ever since we got back. I still owed Sabrina a rematch. I was finally able to draw out the Ekragei Anthos at will but I still needed some training in using it.

David had been strangely quiet lately. I couldn’t tell why but he always wanted to be alone and he wouldn’t talk to anyone. Not even Celeste! I got Sabrina to get Celeste to ask what was up but he didn’t even respond! That was shocking. I was determined to find out so I got the twins to join me in a little stealth mission.

“Okay, you guys know the plan.” I said. “Sabrina, you head out to point A, Celeste, after Sabrina, you go to point B. That’s when you signal me and I move into point C and we all keep a close watch on point D.”

“Roger.” Celeste and Sabrina said together.

“Okay then,” I said, slightly weirded out, “Sabrian, go.” Sabrina went out to her designated position. Celeste went a couple minutes after. Then I waited. After a while, I saw a small white flash in the distance. That was Celeste’s signal that David was out of the way. I dove through a bunch of bushes and made my way toward Point C.

Once I made it to Point C, which is actually just a tree at a convenient location, I started looking for David. After a while I saw him enter the clearing. As a signal that he was here, I made some grass snare his foot to trip him. It worked. So, after a while nothing happened. All David did was stand there, staring into space. After a while more, nothing happened. I was so bored I was about to fall asleep, but then, David moved. He turned and entered a fighting stance. I could see his hair start to float upward as if he was charging up energy like an Elve would. Then, I could see an aura of energy surround him. Instead of being one color, this aura had seven, lets see here, there’s red, orange, yellow, green, blue, a darker blue, and purple.

Then, out of know where Bumki showed up asking loudly, “How’s it goin’ David!?"

The disturbance caused David to lose his concentration and he collapsed with fatigue.

“Hm, not too well I guess.” said Buhmki.

“Obviously,” David replied angrily.

I couldn’t hear the rest of the conversation because I was too far away, but I was pretty sure that they were talking about why David was doing that rainbow aura thing. Eventually Buhmki left.

Before Buhmki was out of sight he shouted to David, “Remember, David, it will come out under enough pressure! So if you’re in a tough enough fight, it’ll help you!”

Pressure. I had an idea. But before I could put it into action, a black wolf jumped out from Point A. This wolf, was Sabrina’s Kaal. Also, there’s a very good reason at why David didn’t recognize her.

You see, Sabrina and I are tight. We’re probably the closest friends among anyone in our little foursome. David teases me about her being my girlfriend but it’s not like that. Besides, Sabrina does the same thing to him and Celeste and it’s more likely to be true. Anyway, one night, it was just us, a friendly meeting. We were going to have our rematch. I wasn’t totally ready but I was kind of forced into it. To make a long story short: her Kaal, Kyra, is very disobedient, since we got back from the Green Dimension, she put her under vigorous training to use her against me. Besides Celeste, I think I was the only person to have met the disobedient fuzzball.

Back to the present: There was panic in David’s eyes. He slowly backed away as he reached for his boarswords (if you don’t know what I mean, picture two sleek, pirate swords, and not the fencing kind, the ones in cartoons.) With a stroke of realization David dove underground (earth/rock powers) and reappeared on the other side of Kyra. He was in the same stance as before and the rainbow aura was up faster this time and also brighter. David thrust out his hands as a blast of rainbow energy made its way toward Kyra. Kyra was able to Diavskia out of sight to make David think he had won.

By the way, Diavskia is when a Dark Elve and/or their Kaal meld into the shadows, even in a brightly lit area, and reappear elsewhere nearby, (kind of like the bad guys that dissolve into the wind.)

Suddenly, I heard someone clapping and turned. Sabrina had popped out applauding on David’s performance. A few seconds after, Celeste showed up, also applauding.

“Well done, David,” she said, “you seem to have whatever you were trying to master somewhat mastered.”

Completely ignoring the fact that we were spying on him he tiredly replied, “It wasn’t as easy as it looked.”

“Yeah, but at least you figured it out.” I said, appearing from my hideout in the tree.

“True,” he replied, “but I was saving this new ability as a surprise.”

“It’s okay,” Celeste said, “it’ll be a better surprise once you master it.”

“Yeah, uh... wwill do.” He managed to say.

And with that, we left.

uploading glitch, sorry

ah, alright. My bad.

Anyway, the story is getting great! The Kaal idea turned out really great. And the visualization is also great. Great grammar throughout it. Just overall a great story so far! :) Keep it up!

Chapter 10

Celebrational Tournament

The news spread like wildfire. Everyone heard about it... except for me. Until Sabrina told me about it (which you shall now read about.)

“Did you here the news?” she asked me. “What news?” I asked in return. “That one thing David was training for was some big important Kamen thing.” She answered. “Oh... good for him.” I tried to sound excited but really couldn’t care less at the moment. “There’s something better.” She said. “What is it?” Now, somewhat excited “It’s a big rookie tournament with a Syir Division and an Elve Division. I we can win both our divisions we can have our rematch for real. And once I beat you, I can kick David’s butt.”

I was officially excited. I could take on Sabrina again, and then go one on one with David. In public!

“It’s basically between you, me, and your sister.” I pointed out.

“And Jenna.” She added.

“But she’s advanced right?” I asked?

“Yeah, but she stinks, Buhmki invited her into it.”

“Ah.”

_____

The tournament had begun, I was up first and I had to say, the nerves were metaphorically killing me, there were a ton of people and I was up against a Fire Syir, known as Ned, first. He had black hair and a pretty scrawny frame. Hey, he’s not the only one. I was troubled because I was going up against a Fire Syir, but I thought to myself: Well, if I’m going to win, I’ll need to take down a bunch of Fire Syirs. The referee was a guest Wheng who went by Zark He was known for his strange sense of justice. He brought his brothers with the same traits.

“Now,” he said, “let the battle begin.”

Ned shot a fireball at me, I dove out of the way and snared his leg in the grass below. During his struggle, I had the grass propel me forward at an extreme speed, I drew my sword and as soon as he escaped my trap, he was gone. I had won the first round.

Round 2: I was up against a Water Syir; her name was Sara. When the battle had started, I took the initiative this time; I used the same grass technique but I slipped on a puddle she made. She pulled out a senbon (ninja needle weapon thing) and threw it at me. I was able to pull up a wooden wall fast enough to block it. After that, I had my own wooden senbon shoot out and pierce her neck. Round 2 was won.

Now on a break, I got to watch Sabrina fight. She was in her fourth round up against some Elve named Cory. He had a long body length sword with no hand guard. Sabrina was easily dodging his attacks but she got hit when he slashed his sword through the air and sent a wave of white energy flying at her. She wasn’t down yet, she was able to recover and rush toward Cory. She dove and dodged another one of his ranged attacks. When her dive ended and she was right in front of him, she kicked up piercing his body with a pitch-black needle. Sabrina wins again.

Turning to Celeste I could see that she was fighting another Elve who goes by the name as Eric. Her bow was supercharged and glowing white, she shot are a large arrow of white energy at her opponent. Eric dodged it and pointed toward Celeste, a white energy senbon shout out toward Celeste and it pierced her arm. She gave a smug smile and her arrow pierced Eric from behind. Meanwhile, Sabrina had completed another battle and had advanced to the semi-finals with her sister.

Skipping to my quarter-finals match, I was up against a Plant Syir named Tessa. When the batlle had begun she immediately charged at me with her spear. It was a pretty long spear, about 1.5x taller then herself with what looked more like dagger than a speartip. I was able to dodge the attack but what happened next only continued the battle thanks to my reflexes. Her spear broke apart into three pieces connected by a chain. I blocked the attack by quickly pulling my sword out partway to stop her blade. When I jumped out of the way, she reconnected her weapon.

“That’s a pretty cool blade you got there.” I commented.

She returned with a taunt. “Aw, Simon, are you flirting with me?”

“You only wish.” I said smugly, pulling a wooden sword out of the ground, identical to my other one.

“Two’s not going to help,” she taunted some more, “especially if one of them is wooden.”

I stood up straight, pointed my wooden sword at her, and said in a purposefully deepened voice. “Enough talk. Let us fight.” Laughing quietly, I charged.

“You fool!” she shouted, also charging.

I tried blocking her attack with my wooden sword but it got cut in half in the process. She broke her weapon apart to use the chain to block an attack from my actual sword but all that happened was the front end of her weapon swung around her and cut at her neck.

“How?” she asked, as she began to dissipate due to her loss.

I tried to explain quickly. “My two swords were a distraction, when you detached your weapon, I controlled the wood to have it swing around and get you instead of me.” With that, she was gone.

Well, I had made it to the semi-finals and didn’t pay enough attention to find out who I was going up against. Anyway, I got to rest as I prepared for my semi-final match. A couple minutes after I sat down Tessa showed up and sat next to me.

“Wow, Simon, you’re really good.” She told me. “Your definitely using your powers more than some of the other Syirs.”

She inched closer to me. “Could you maybe... train me a little. We could make a date out of it.”

I tried to reply but before I had the chance to she was blown away by some invisible force.

“Save it until the tournaments over.” I turned and saw Jenna. “Hi, Simon.” she said, smiling.

“So, is it you and me in the semifinals?” I asked.

She nodded. “Good luck.” She said, and she turned and walked away.

Chapter 11

(Semi)Finals

The semi finals had begun. “No hard feelings?” I asked Jenna. “No, just hard hitting.” She replied. With that we began. Jenna started us off with a gust of wind, I

snared my own feet in the grass as to avoid not falling. When I recovered, I pulled out my sword and took a stance. Meanwhile, she pulled out two shuriken (ninja stars) and threw them at me. They both missed.

“You should probably work on your aim.” I said.

All she did was smile. I reached my sword behind my head and blocked them. “and your originality.”

Before I could regain my stance, Jenna was standing behind me and three more shuriken were spinning around my neck.

“Well that was original.” I said. “And accurate.”

She smiled again and said “One wrong move and there goes your chances of winning.”

It was my turn to smile. There were two explosions around my neck that blew the shuriken up and away.

“I had Ekragei Anthos tied around my neck.” I said, stretching my neck to reveal three more Ekragei Anthos.

“Are you sure your not advanced?” she asked. “As far as I’m concerned,” I replied, “no.” She smiled and said. “Then let’s see how much you can take.” She threw out five shuriken at unpredictable paths with the same

destination: me. I blocked one with my sword, blocked two more with a wooden wall, and caught fourth. As the fifth one made it’s way toward me, I threw the one I caught and they ran into each other, cancelling each other out. Jenna threw another wave of shuriken. This time it was ten. I was able to block each one with pieces of wood sprouting from the ground. She threw twenty in the next wave, this time I just cut up each one.

“Your really good Simon.” She said. “All my previous opponents never made it passed twenty. But, let’s see how you do against fifty!” She threw out a wave of fifty shuriken.

I had to use the three Ekragei Anthos around my neck to block that attack.

“Okay Simon,” Jenna started, “guess it’s time for me to show you my best.” She rushed off to prepare her coup de grâce.

Jenna was so fast she seemed to be everywhere at once. First she was behind me, then she was in front of me. She was even in the air at some points. When she was finished there were one hundred blades spinning midair in all directions.

Jenna shouted. “Ekato Thanato Lepida”

All the blades rushed in on me, I was out of Ekragei Anthos. But, I made one precaution at the beginning of the battle.

over.

“Anapsei: Ekragei Anthos” I commanded. Both Jenna and me were sitting in the loser’s dugout when it was

“So,” she said, “who won?” I looked to Zark. He cleared his throat and said. “Mr. Kendon had placed his

Ekragei Anthos on Ms. Kido before she had prepared her Ekato Thanato Lepida. They both struck at the same time. So, since Mr. Kendon made the preemptive strike, he is the victor!”

I sat down to watch Sabrina and Celeste in the semifinals of the Elve Division. It had already started and both of them seemed exhausted. Sabrina’s left arm was hanging limp and Celeste’s arrows still had their white hue of energy but were shimmering weakly due to her exhaustion.

Sabrina muttered. “Skion.”

Her limp arm was surrounded with black energy and she regained movement. Celeste released her arrow and it flew toward Sabrina, she dodged out of the way.

Celeste said “Seira,” the arrow turned, she then said “Dialysei.” Her arrow split up into many tiny arrows.

Sabrina put up walls of black energy to block all of them. It cracked a little with each arrow and shattered once the last one hit. With that much strain put on her body, Sabrina collapsed; still conscious, she was breathing hard and standing on one knee.

“I really didn’t want to do this sis.” She said. She held one arm out while gripping her wrist with her other hand. She said. “Mavri Simatos.” A black box formed around Celeste. When it closed completely around her, it seemed to glow, (if the color black can even glow.) Eventually, it dimmed and dissipated leaving nothing left inside it. Sabrina had won.

She pointed to me and said: “Your next Simon.” With that, she fell to the ground, exhausted.

Okay, that technique’s probably going to kill me. I thought to myself. Well, no time to doubt my self, I just needed to be confident and be ready. Atleast I got a sneak peek of it before I lost to it. The best part was, I had some time to strategize against it before the finals.

It seemed to be slow to form. That would give me a good chance to dodge it whenever she used it. I might be able to use Ekragei Anthos to break through the walls but that seemed less likely. It seemed that my only hope of beating that thing is to dodge it. Maybe I could just beat Sabrina before she had the chance to use it. That one technique seemed to really lower my chances of winning. I really didn’t see any solid way around it.

My deep concentrations was interrupted when Jenna showed up and said. “Hey, Simon, we did a good job out there. Especially you. If you put that Ekragei Anthos on me in the beginning, then why did you keep up the fight until I used my Ekato Thanato Lepida?”

My answer was relatively simple. “I wanted to see how much better you had gotten since our quest in the Green Dimension. You’ve gotten a lot better.”

“So you were testing me?” she asked. “More or less, yeah; I was testing you.” I replied She smiled and asked. “Could you test me again some time? I

want to master my new lightning powers. Your skills would really help me.”

“Sure.” I caught a piece of wood that would have flew over my shoulder and smacked Jenna in the face. I turned and said. “Don’t worry Tessa, I haven’t forgotten about you; you’re getting better already!”

Jenna laughed. “Which of us gets to go first?”

I had a panicky moment worrying about the comments she could make to my answer. I was saved by a bell ringing, notifying that the finals were about to begin. I ran down without giving Jenna an answer.

“Good luck!” she shouted.

I didn’t reply but I took her words to heart. I had this. I could win if I tried hard enough. I made it onto the field; Sabrina had beat me there. “You ready Si?” She asked.

“More than you could ever know.” I replied.

On Zark’s signal, we began. Sabrina made the first move throwing a black energy sphere at me. I dodged out of the way and sent some thorny vines toward her. She blocked them with a black energy wall. It shattered on impact but it was probably intentional since she sent the broken pieces flying at me. I pulled out my sword and cut the pieces to smaller pieces before they could cut me. I had the grass propel me foward. Sabrina pulled out her whip and reeled it back. I pivoted on my right foot and went to slice instead of stab. It didn’t matter as long as I won. Unfortunately, her whip wrapped around my right foot and she quickly pulled back. I flew backward, but as my foot left the ground, a small wooden pole flew out of the ground and sent her flying backward. We were both on the ground. We both got up at the same time.

“Clever.” She said. “It’s always best to not fall for the same trick twice.” She shot a bolt of black lightning at me. I blocked it with a wood

wall. Then I shot it at her in three individual planks. She broke every one of them with her hands. They seemed to be surrounded with black energy, but as soon as the last plank was broken, it was gone. Maybe I just imagined it.

She held out her arm and gripped her wrist in place. She shouted, “Mavri Simatos!”

The black box from before started to form around me. It was much quicker this time though. I tried running out of range. I dove out of the way at the last second. I threw a wood shuriken around the Mavri Simatos as it destroyed everything inside. Suddenly, it vanished entirely instead of dissipating like last time. My wooden shuriken had hit it’s target. When I could see Sabrina, she was gripping onto her shoulder.

“Smart tactic, right?” I asked.

She nodded and let go of her shoulder. She clenched her knuckles tightly. When she opened up her hands, they were surrounded by the hue of energy I saw earlier.

“This is my best technique.” She said. “Mavri Pygmes.” “Okay then,” I responded confidently, “I guess I’ll just have to use my best move then.”

I pulled out a ball of moss in my pocket and started pulling out stringy vines. I pulled out ten total and tied each one to a different finger. I flicked all my fingers at once and the small ball of moss burst into a humanoid clump of vines.

Still connected to my fingers I said. “Kouklas Fyto.”

Flexing one finger, the puppet raised an arm, throwing my hand forward made it charge. I drew back it’s arm and slam the ground where Sabrina was supposed to be. She dodged the first attack I had it jump and smash her to the ground. Unfortunately, I had little control of it while it was in the air and it just crashed down like Sabrina did. When Sabrina charged and tried to punch through it, she did. But, I tightened the vines the puppet was made up of so she couldn’t pull her arm out. I drew its head back and had it headbutt her. She jumped back, disoriented.

With a confident smile on her face, she jumped up into the air and shot a curving beam of energy to the vines that connected me to my puppet. With it’s strings severed, the puppet collapsed into the clump of vines it started as.

“One strike is gonna end it all now.” She said.

I smiled and pulled out my sword and pointed it to the ground. I infused my sword with all the plant energy in the grass and charged.

I shouted, “Teliki Apergia: Diskos Fysis!”

Sabrina met my charge, shouting, “Teliki Apergia: Mavri Pygmes!”

Before our attacks met, Buhmki shouted, “Stop!”

Sabrina and I stopped almost immediately. No one ever undermined Buhmki’s authority.

“A Vorp has been sighted in the White Dimension. I need the Kamen, the finalists, and semi-finalists to go investigate. Try your hardest to bring him back alive. No one will care if he gets killed in the process.”

Sabrina sighed angrily. I was upset too. I had no idea which of us was going to win at that split second; I was confident that I would but that was probably just anticipation. I really wanted to find out which of us was going to win.

“Come on guys!” David shouted, “Let’s get to this!”

I sheathed my sword and ran to the portal to the White Dimension. Sabrina followed, David after her, and then Celeste and Jenna caught up.

“You really think there’s a Vorp?” I asked everyone as we ran toward the portal.

Celeste was the first to respond. “I have my doubts.” She said. “Better safe than sorry.” David jumped in. “I really couldn’t care less.” Sabrina said. “I just hope I get an

outlet for my anger.” “Cool down Sabrina.” Celeste said. “What about you Jenna?” I asked. “I don’t know;” she replied, “I hope not, Vorps are supposed to

be really powerful.” “Yeah,” I said, “but I bet the five of us could take one down.” Jenna had no response. I could tell she was scared. I was just

going to have to protect her. Let’s hope she can be brave enough to survive this.

“Jeez, Simon,” Celeste said, “you’re being quite the pessimist.”

“What?” I asked.

“Celeste,” Sabrina interrupted, “stop getting into other peoples heads.”

She didn’t mean it literally, Celeste is just good at reading people’s faces so she tends to know what’s on people’s minds. When we reached the portal, Celeste was the first to dive in, then David went, then Sabrina, Jenna, then me.

Chapter 12

White Dimension: Day 1

"Simon’s Log: We have been traveling for several hours. There has been no sign of the spoken Vorp, nor has any sign of other life been spotted. That last comment seemed like something from an expedition of another planet."

“"David’s Log: Simon is being really annoying right now.” I think you can guess who said that.

“Sorry, Dave,” I replied, “it’s in my nature.”

“I thought nature was your nature.” Celeste said.

“Oh,” Sabrina joined in, “look who’s being the comedian for once.”

“That’s a nice change.” I said.

“It gives me an excuse to be serious for a while.”

“Maybe would call be a bit serious.” Jenna said. “If we’re this loud, there’s no chance we’ll find the Vorp; we could even attract some other dangerous things.”

“Don’t worry, Jenna,” Celeste said, “there’s nothing dangerous here.” Something small and white fell from the sky and landed on her head. She yelped and threw it off.

“Except a Vorp and some anamatrons.” I said, crushing the white anamatronic squirrel with some vines. “Jenna is right, by the way, we should all be quiet if we want to find that Vorp.”

“Let’s try it.” Sabrina said.

No one said anything for the rest of the day. We just walked in silence for hours, not encountering any other anamatrons and finding no sign of the Vorp.

The silence was finally broke when David said, “Well, we should stop and rest for the night.”

“Agreed.” Celeste and Sabrina said together, laying on the ground.

“Good night everyone.” I said, laying down.

“If only.” Sabrina complained.

“She’s right.” Celeste said. “We’ll literally have to sleep in broad daylight.”

“Korgen I’ll take first watch.” David said.

“Agreed.” Jenna and I said together. Before anyone had the chance to say anything else, I was asleep.

_____

I was in the Green Dimension, which confused me because I remembered being the White Dimension earlier. I turned and saw a man in a green cloak with his hood covering most of his face.

“Welcome back, Simon.” The Green Cleric said.

“I don’t think I had a choice to come here.” I replied.

“Maybe, but you are here for now, and I will tell you why.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Do you remember our last encounter?” He asked.

I nodded.

“I am going to prepare you for your next milestone in your destined path.”

“What would that be?” I asked.

“Questions, questions.” The Green Cleric said. “All I will tell you is that the power lies withing your Khingjo and it will be awakened by a Vorp.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“I’m afraid you’ve asked your final question. Farewell.”
