Other than the series always thematically showing that love is the ultimate answer and power, even more so than the power of light or darkness, here are some quotes: From Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep: Aqua: "A pure heart filled with light... It's strange, the Master taught me darkness needs to be destroyed. But how, if not with light?" Fairy Godmother: "Oh, my dear, you're too young to know. Experience more things, and you'll find the answer. Just trust in your dreams." (Fairy Godmother implying the only way to defeat darkness other than with light is with love.) From Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep: Yen Sid: "I will tell you what your friend needs right now. It is not your protection. He needs you to believe. You see, Ventus's heart hangs in the balance. It sleeps in the place between light and darkness. From all I can perceive, that means he will be looking for a friend--one who believes in him, to show him the way home. Just as long as you love him...then Ventus will be able to find you when he wakes. He can follow that love back to where he belongs--the realm of light.” (Yen Sid implying the balance between light and darkness is love and that love is the only thing that can lead Ventus' heart home.) From Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories: Riku: "What are you making me choose now?" DiZ: "Between the road to light and the road to darkness." Riku: "Neither suits me. I'm taking the middle road." DiZ: "Do you mean the twilight road to nightfall?" Riku: "No. It's the road to dawn." (Riku not choosing light or darkness, but choosing what he calls "dawn.") From Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance: Riku (to Ansem, Seeker of Darkness and Young Xehanort): "I walk the road to dawn!" Riku (to Ansem, Seeker of Darkness): "Consume the darkness, return it to light.” Young Xehanort (to Riku): "I don't know how you did it, but you really have found a way to trap darkness inside your heart. And a boy who's immune to darkness is of no use to us." (Riku reaffirming that he wields both light and darkness, and that he turns the darkness into light. That is the state he calls "dawn." And Young Xehanort confirming that by walking the road to dawn, Riku has somehow become immune to darkness.) From Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance: Data-Ansem the Wise: "The heart has always been quick to grow. Each exposure to light, to the natural world, to other people, shapes this most malleable part inside of us. Nobodies are not different from us in that manner. Sora was the only one able to return to his human form without destroying his Nobody. That is a statement to the love in his heart for other people, and the bonds that tie them together. Perhaps...he has the power to bring back the hearts and existences of those connected to him—to recreate people we thought were lost to us forever. Our most precious treasures—even an empty puppet—the trees of the forest, and the petals on the wind—there are hearts around us everywhere we look. And it does not take superhuman powers to see them. Surely we remember as children the way our hearts made everything seem so shiny, and perfect. Sora has a heart like that—uncorrupted, willing to see the good before the bad. When he sees the heart in something, it then becomes real. When a connection seems broken, he may have the power to mend it. He has touched countless hearts, he has accepted them, and he has saved them. And some of those hearts have never left him—whether they fell into darkness or were trapped there—whether they sleep in the darkness of Sora's heart, or were welcomed into its warmth—they can be saved. All Sora needs to do is be himself and follow wherever it is that his heart takes him. It is the best and the only way." (Data-Ansem the Wise saying that Sora's uninhibited undying love for people and his willingness to always see the good before the bad in anyone or anything is the ultimate answer that could solve everything and save everyone.) From Kingdom Hearts III: Ventus: "I didn't ask for this. To be sifted apart nice and neat. We should be free to choose. Not just light, not just darkness. We decide what we are." (Ventus implying light and darkness are choices and you can choose to be both or neither.)

People often ask why Kingdom Hearts uses terms like "hurt" instead of "pain" or "unreality" instead of "alternate dimension." Or why they use the terms "light" and "darkness" so much. The in-universe explanation for this is that the Kingdom Hearts World works very differently than our universe and has its own set of labels and rules for many things. The real world meta explanation for this though is that Tetsuya Nomura seems to like Kingdom Hearts to sort of establish its own labels and rules for things. And there's a reason why. For example, they're now calling the other side of the World that Yozora comes from "unreality" and "fiction" rather than just saying its another dimension or something. Getting used to these terms and the way they're used can be odd and jarring at times, however that's kind of the point as these unique terms sort of make you think and wonder more about these concepts. Something more mainstream such as Marvel uses more common terms such as other "dimensions" and the "multiverse" to bring characters and worlds together that usually wouldn't make much sense to bring together to make it make more sense and easy to understand for the audience so they can just focus on the characters and worlds that are being brought together instead of focusing on how weird and incomprehensible the concepts of other realities and universes really are. Kingdom Hearts likes to use words such as "unreality" and "fictional worlds" to put more focus on what these concepts actually mean and how weird and incomprehensible these concepts truly are. Instead of shying away from how philosophically weird and trippy some concepts are in order to make things easier for the audience to understand, Kingdom Hearts fully leans into it. So, if they were to just use the term "pain" instead of "hurt," you would think you understand what they're talking about completely and not take a closer look at the concept being talked about, while using the term "hurt" makes you take a closer look and examine what the concept of pain/hurt truly means and makes you wonder if you even do understand what it really means. There are concepts in life that we take for granted and think we know what they truly mean just because we've heard the words and the definitions of the words our entire lives, so we don't really take the moment to really think about it philosophically. If they used the word "pain" it would've just become another sentence that passes by and gets replaced by the next sentence without you taking a deeper look into what's being said. I remember as a young kid playing Kingdom Hearts and some of these odd terms would really make me think more about the underlying philosophy and existentialism of it all rather than just focusing on the more generic aspects that overlie it all. People often make fun of Kingdom Hearts for these odd terms and how often some terms like light or darkness are used, but I really do think there's a point to it. The way these terms are used might seem silly in a conventional way, but Kingdom Hearts has never been about thinking conventionally and has always been about establishing and following its own rules. The stuff with Yozora and Quadratum has made me the most interested in the series' future than I have been in a while. The mystique and intrigue of it is on par with after I saw KH1's secret ending for the first time. It's got the same vibes of what got me so hooked on the series so much as a young kid in the first place. It even brings back the same KH1 opening quote, bringing it back to the roots of what made the series so interesting and stand out. The theme of existential confusion that underlies the whole series. "I've been having these weird thoughts lately, like is any of this for real, or not?" "None of this... makes sense to me." Nomura has even said that the KH1 opening quote is what got KH approved in the first place. Q9: What can you say about the secret boss & episode? Nomura: "The secrets contain my thoughts about the future of the series, but with the information out at present I don't think you'll be able to guess any of it. Some parts of the battle ended up very different from what I requested. But it surprised me in a good way, so take it as it is." Q10: Why did lines from KH1 appear in the final trailer? Nomura: "Those were lines I'd long wanted to put together if I ever got the chance. You may not understand, but the inclusion of those lines is what got the world of Kingdom Hearts approved. There is no mystery to solve this time, they stand at the doorway." While many aspects of the story weren't planned by Nomura in advance, I definitely believe there has always been underlying themes and meanings that Nomura has rooted in the series and stayed consistent with and has had plans for ever since the first game. And now that the main story that has been going on with Xehanort is finally complete, it seems like he will finally bring out those underlying themes and meanings in full force and bring them to the forefront rather than in the background. Things are going to start getting really existential, meta, and trippy going forward. And I think this is what Nomura has planned for, hoped for, and always wanted to do since the first game. And I think those quotes of his prove that. The ongoing story has concluded. The ongoing mysteries have now been concluded. The time has come for the underlying themes of existential confusion, hearts, fake worlds, data worlds, dreams, other versions of yourself, not knowing what is real, etc. that have been built up and built up to finally explode and to get what Kingdom Hearts has always truly been about. "There is no mystery to solve this time, they stand at the doorway."

I have a theory of what's in the box that the Master of Masters was dragging. I think it might be the 13 pieces of darkness of the shattered χ-blade. The χ-blade shattered into 20 pieces: 13 of darkness and 7 of light. We know that it broke into 7 pieces of light in order to protect the hearts of the Seven Princesses of Heart, but we don't know exactly what that means. Especially considering the Seven Princesses of Heart weren't alive way back then. But maybe it means that the χ-blade shattered into 7 pieces of light which would then become the Seven Princess of Heart's hearts in the future? Also, we were never told what happened to the 13 pieces of darkness. If a heart of pure darkness and a heart of pure light clash, then the χ-blade is recreated, but it is unstable. In DDD, it is revealed that Xehanort plans on capturing the Seven Princesses again so that they can clash with the 13 Seekers of Darkness to recreate the χ-blade. But, how can this be? The 13 Seekers of Darkness don't have hearts of pure darkness, so how would them clashing with the pure-hearted princesses recreate the χ-blade? I think I might know the answer. I believe that Xehanort wants to find that case that the Master of Masters has or maybe he already has it. If the 13 pieces of darkness from the shattered χ-blade are in that case, then Xehanort can take them and put them into each of the 13 Seekers of Darkness' hearts to turn them into hearts of pure darkness. Then, he can clash with the Princesses of Heart to recreate the χ-blade, but this time, a much more stable one. It'd actually pretty much be the original χ-blade because it'd be created from the original shattered pieces. So yeah, what do you think of this theory? Anything I could add to it?

Hello again! It's been awhile, anyway after replaying the series again and reflecting on the trailers, my biggest question now is regarding the concept of light and is it strong enough to withstand the darkness? From the start of the series ( I'll start chronologically here with the Chi series), light has been viewed in a positive light and as both players and our characters we tend to favour the light and it is seen as worthwhile of protecting. In philosophical terms, the light represents peace, tolerance and I'd say justice. Whereas the forces of darkness are seen to bring ruin, destruction and misery to others. Throughoutnthe series, light always triumphs. Whether this is merely stopping the disney villains succeeding in their plans or the overall game with the organisation being defeated. The closest the darkness has been to winning is during BBS with the fate of the Ven, Aqua and Terra, but even then the darkness did not win as X blade was destroyed and Xehanort did not win outright. In relation to KH3, I think it's high time the light was challenged and perhaps even defeated ( temporaily as I'll explain). Whilst we can theorise that the seven guardians of light will be established and will probably win the new Keyblade War, I think the darkness should challenge the light like never before. I want one of either Maleficient and Pete or Xehanort to be successful. I'll explain how and why each scenario could work and how light would be challenged. Let's start off with the obvious scenario and that's Xehanort. The darkness could challenge light in numerous ways, either act as a barrier to prevent the lights forming and require a change of tactics ( say one of the suspected lights cannot be saved in time for the war or despite Merlin's best efforts, Lea or Kairi isn't ready) then the darkness would have the upperhand, maybe prompting Sora to take extreme measures to bring Roxas back? Another way the Xehanort scenario could work would be that Xehanort' wins and the lights are defeated. My biggest fear would be an imbalance and I would not advocate this. However, let's say the X blade is formed and briefly darkness is in control, how would light retaliate? We don't need to necessarily kill any of the lights of to have a ' dark' story, but if the war tilts towards the darkness, then in the finale of the game, we could see how light responds to facing defeat and make the victory seem hard won and justified. Maleficent would be my preferred choice to tilt things towards the darkness. We know she's looking for the box and I'm banking on her finding it. The rest of this scenario depends on what is inside the box... I don't think it will be the fragments of the X blade as that would be too obvious and it wouldn't make sense why Xehanort didn't try and find it througout his master hood. I'm leaning towards it either being related to the Book of Prophecies or something unexpected ( perhaps the MoMs heart?) thus when Malefiecient finds it the contents will be a surprise and present a new threat to the light. We know she isn't actively aiming to get in Sora's way, which is why having her be successful is preferred. She would present Sora with a new challenge and one which must be dealt with, consider it another arc in the game. This would be a diversion from the battle with Xehanort and would be unexpected to both sides. It would be highly unlikely Xehanort had precautions in place for such an event and the light would be forced to act rashly to prevent her succeeding. Also from a plot perspective, this could be how the series continues, let's say the box opens and darkness consumes a world and during a heated battle a single heart escapes somewhere, alluding towards someone or Maleficient summons future characters to our world and one escapes and awaits their own destiny.... Either way, the concept of light needs to be challenged and darkness needs to have momentum. If the light wins easily, then the threat of darkness is diminished. we know the game will be darker, and people will suspect deaths, but I feel as if darkness is handled well then light can be challenged without death. In my opinion we need to see light close to expiring, we need to see those on the side of light make rash decesions and feel hopeless, likewise we need to see darkness in it's glory, if we're going with a reason for light to win, have darknes become overconfident and cause it's own defeat. To conclude, the series has expanded from having the light triumph relatively easily, it's high time the concept of darkness provided a true challenge and one that should have an element of success.

So, a crack theory occured to me the other day. It's very very crack-y and doesn't make a lot of sense, but I thought it was an interesting thought nonetheless. We know from Birth by Sleep that the X-blade can be forged through a high intensity clash of two opposite poles of pure light and pure darkness. Note that when we saw Ventus-Vanitas fused in BBS, it was heavily implied (and I believe even outright stated by Xehanort), that they literally WERE the X-Blade. When Ventus defeats Vanitas and rips apart both of their hearts, the X-blade is destroyed. This hints towards the X-blade being a sentient entity, or at least having the potential to be one. a combination of two hearts of equal and opposite light and darkness. With this in mind, what if we assume that the same could be said for the original X-blade? That the original X-blade from the Age of Fairytales was also a sentient entity, potentially formed from a high intensity clash of two hearts of pure light and pure darkness? And that the sentient entity succeeded in it's completion? If this is the case, then is there a faint possibility that this entity could be a certain sassy Master of Masters? The master of masters acts bizarrely neutral in the face of something incredibly dreadful like the Keyblade war - could this be due to his heart being a perfect balance of pure light and darkness? And he has unexplained, supernatural powers of precognition involving the "blue eye" engraved into No Name's blade (and possibly the blue eyes found on the keychains and in the blade of other Keyblades + soul eater). Keyblades were originally created in the image of the original X-blade - what if the keyblades were created from the Master of Master in his own image? The box the MoM gives Luxu at the end of back cover has a symbol with seven spikes on it's inner walls and 13 spikes upon it's outer walls, and has the words "XSuper" on it. There are many theories on what this could mean: The MoM's nobody is in there, the X-blade is in there, ya boy Ventus is sleeping in there, etc. etc., and I do think that the X-blade is indeed inside, but I also think that there could be a bit more meaning to the name on the box than meets the eye. "'χ'... A most ancient letter. Some say 'kye,' but the meaning is the same. Death... A letter that spells endings. —Master Xehanort It is heavily implied from the names of the 6 other foretellers, along with the word enscribed upon the box, that the MoM's name derives from the seventh deadly sin superbia (pride). If X is taken for it's original meaning - death, or endings - then "XSuper" might mean "The death of pride". The Master of Masters has destroyed himself, shattering his heart into 20 pieces and then locking them away inside of the box. As for the rendition of him who speak with the foretellers.... a ghostly projection? I mean, it's happened before in Kingdom Hearts. Especially when a character harbours the heart of another inside them. After talking about avoiding the conflict for the entirety of the storyline of X up to the keyblade war, Master Ava enters into the conflict and, if the player is a member of another union, fights them. When the player asks her why she has changed tune about the war, she simply says "There are some secrets no-one should ever know". Maybe she found out something about the nature of the Master or the X-blade, or (crack theory overdrive), the splintered pieces of the X-blade that must return to their father the master of masters fullmetal alchemist style to all get inside the box or somethi I don't know I'm just gonna stop this insanity train here. Also slightly related mini crack theory: A key-shaped weapon forged by man during the age of fairy tales. Any other origins have yet to be revealed. - DDD glossary on Keyblades. Of all the keyblades in existence, Master Xehanort's is the most ancient. - Young Xehanort. What if Master Xehanort's keyblade was not man-made? What if it existed before the hypothetical forging of the original X-Blade? If the original X-blade, potentially the Master of Masters, was created through some high impact light-darkness collision, what if this Keyblade was wielded by some ancient force of evil, who then clashed with another ancient force of light? So yeah tl;dr, Vanitas + Ventus = X blade, therefore maybe original X blade = someone + someone = the Master of Masters. That's it that's the theory you can go home now.

In KH, if you ever look in the Journal/Reports or play with subtitles on, you'd know that "realm of darkness", "realm of light", "realm between", and "realm of sleep" are never capitalized, which always led me to believe that those are not the official names of the realms. That's just what all the characters call them. But, in 0.2BBS, the realm of darkness is called "Dark World", which I'm assuming is it's official name. Yen Sid, Aqua, Mickey, etc. still call it "realm of darkness", but in Reports in the game and marketing for the game and stuff, they call it "Dark World", so it definitely seems to be its official name. And in KHX, we learn about a realm called "Unchained". In Back Cover, we learn that this realm is made of "dreams", which obviously means its the realm of sleep. So, the realm of darkness' official name is "Dark World" and the realm of sleep's official name is "Unchained". What do you think the official names for the realm of light and the realm between are? "Light World" and "Between World"? lol

I'll be explaining the various kinds of enemies in the Kingdom Hearts universe, how they're created, what happens when they die, and what their goals are. If you feel you are very familiar with the details and lore behind these enemies, then this post is not for you. Over a long time playing the Kingdom Hearts games, I've notice many people left confused about these enemies, whether it be in real life, or online, so I'm making this post to hopefully clear up that confusion. Enjoy! (This is a part of my "Explained" series of posts. To view my "Time Travel Explained" post, click here, to view my "The Braig/Xigbar Situation Explained" post, click here, and to view my "The Realm of Sleep Explained" post, click here.) What are Heartless? Heartless are the main and first enemy type introduced in the Kingdom Hearts series. Most of them are ink black in color and only act on instinct. They can be seen in various of the many worlds and realms in the universe of Kingdom Hearts. The stronger your heart is with the darkness, the more powerful your Heartless you produce will be. There are two types of Heartless: Pureblood Heartless and Emblem Heartless. What goal do Heartless try to achieve? Heartless mainly attempt to find and devour hearts, whether it be the heart of people, or the hearts of worlds. When they devour the heart of a person, then that person becomes a Heartless as well. Heartless, along with other beings strong with dark powers, are able to use portals called Corridors of Darkness. This portals allow them to travel from world to world and from realm to realm. It is dangerous for just anyone to use these portals however, because it is exposing you to direct darkness and it could affect your heart. That is why Heartless mostly use them since they are beings of straight darkness. How are Pureblood Heartless created? Pureblood Heartless were the first types of Heartless to exist. Pureblood Heartless are also known as natural Heartless, since they exist from natural causes. There are two ways a Pureblood Heartless can be created. The first way that a Pureblood Heartless can be created, is when someone succumbs to the darkness in their heart. Once this happens, the darkness inside their heart will devour their heart, then that darkness becomes a Pureblood Heartless. The second way that a Pureblood Heartless can be created is simply by drawing parts of the darkness out of your heart. Only beings that are strong with the darkness are able to do this, such as Xehanort. For example, in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Xehanort was able to create Neoshadow Heartless simply by drawing out the darkness in his heart. Similarly, Riku in the first Kingdom Hearts, was able to create an AntiSora Heartless simply by drawing out the darkness in his heart. Pureblood Heartless are simply darkness of the heart, made flesh. When a heart is unlocked or succumbs to the darkness, the darkness within comes out and becomes a Pureblood Heartless, and devours the heart while it's at it. When a Pureblood Heartless devours someone else's heart, then the darkness within that person's heart will come out and become a Pureblood Heartless as well. When Heartless devour the heart of a world, that world falls to darkness, meaning it ends up in the Realm of Darkness. How are Emblem Heartless created? Emblem Heartless were originally created by a machine made by Apprentice Xehanort, along with the other apprentices of Ansem the Wise. This machine reproduced the process in which Pureblood Heartless are created. This means that this machine was able to produce artificial Heartless by making hearts be consumed by darkness. Emblem Heartless are essentially darkness that has a trapped heart inside, unlike Pureblood Heartless which are essentially darkness that have devoured the heart and become one with it. Emblem Heartless can also be created when an Emblem Heartless consumes someone else's heart, just like how Pureblood Heartless are created when a Pureblood Heartless consumes someone else's heart. What happens when Heartless are destroyed? When you destroy a Pureblood Heartless, the heart within them isn't visibly/physically released, but it is definitely freed. The freed heart will eventually end up turning back into a Heartless. When a Pureblood Heartless is destroyed by a Keyblade, then it's freed for good. It goes into a sort of limbo state and waits for the corresponding Nobody to be destroyed so that it can combine back with the body and recomplete the original person. If the person has no corresponding Nobody, then all you have to do to recomplete them is destroy their Heartless (with a Keyblade) since their body is already waiting in the limbo state. When Emblem Heartless are destroyed, the corrupted heart that's freed will end up turning back into a Heartless, just like the Pureblood Heartless. Except the hearts are visibly freed. When Emblem Heartless are destroyed by a Keyblade, the heart is freed for good and goes into the aforementioned limbo state and waits for the Nobody counterpart to be destroyed, just like the Pureblood Heartless. If there is no Nobody counterpart, then all you need to do to recomplete the original person is to destroy the Heartless with a Keyblade. Them being destroyed by a Keyblade also allows Organization XIII to be able to collect the hearts before they get a chance to recomplete. What are Nobodies? Nobodies were the second enemy type introduced in the Kingdom Hearts series. They are mainly white in color, and they lack hearts. Many Nobodies also use Corridors of Darkness as well. Since they have no hearts, Corridors of Darkness are a huge convenience for them since they can use them without being affected. What goal do Nobodies try and achieve? Nobodies do not have a direct goal. Unlike Heartless, Nobodies have a sense of self, so they are basically free to do what they please. Most of them however, work together to achieve the one thing they truly want: their hearts. Since Nobodies have no hearts, they do not have emotions or feelings. They do however remember what it was like to have emotions and feelings. How are Nobodies created? When somebody loses their heart and become a Heartless, their body and soul fade away and wait for its Heartless counterpart to be destroyed by a Keyblade so the original person can be recompleted. If you had a particularly strong heart however, then your soul will continue living on inside of your body, therefore making your body live on as well. This is what a Nobody is. The stronger your heart was, the more humanoid and the more like you, your Nobody looks. People with slightly weaker hearts, become less and less human looking and take the form of creature type beings that somewhat resemble Heartless, other than the color differences. Organization XIII, a group of powerful Nobodies, are able to convert other powerful Nobodies into lesser, creature-type Nobodies, such as Dusks, as well, presumably using a machine to do so. What happens when Nobodies are destroyed? If a Nobody is destroyed, then it fades away. When someone's Nobody and corresponding Heartless are both destroyed, then that original person will return as a complete being, with heart, body, and soul all intact. (The Heartless needs to be destroyed by a Keyblade). If somebody didn't have a strong enough heart to produce a Nobody, then simply destroying their Heartless with a Keyblade will make them return since their body and soul, the things that would have created a Nobody, have already been destroyed. When you return as a complete being, you have all of your memories from when you were a Nobody as well as your old memories. You do not remember your time as a Heartless though. Other Information Nobodies are actually able to regrow hearts of their own. It is currently unknown what the specifics of this are and what the exact process is. Nobodies have the memories of when they were people. What are Unversed? Unversed are beings created by extremely strong negative emotions. They spawn from Vanitas and his emotions particularly, presumably because there is no other being with negative emotions as strong as his since he is a being of pure darkness. The negative emotions are so strong, that they take physical form, which is what Unversed are. Their goal is to do whatever Vanitas orders them to do, and when they are destroyed, their negativity flows right back into Vanitas. What are Dream Eaters? Dream Eaters are beings that exist and are born in the Realm of Sleep. They can also be created artificially. They are the Realm of Sleep's own personal way of darkness taking form as creatures. They are also the physical embodiments of dreams. They consume dreams. There are two types of Dream Eaters: Spirits and Nightmares. Spirits eat bad dreams, while Nightmares eat good dreams and plant bad ones. When they are destroyed, they seem to simply vanish, but Dream Eaters essentially work the same way dreams do since they are the physical embodiments of dreams, so all you'd have to do to get a Dream Eater to return after being destroyed is to dream it up again. That would be pretty difficult though since you can't really control what you dream about. Sora and Riku used fragments they collected from Nightmare Dream Eaters to artificially create their own Spirit Dream Eaters. The Master of Masters artificially created Spirit Chirithy Dream Eaters as well, probably using the same method as Sora and Riku. That is what we know so far about all the enemy types in the Kingdom Hearts universe. Now, I will explain various characters' involvements with these enemy types and how they relate to them. Sora In the first Kingdom Hearts, Sora stabbed himself in the heart with the Keyblade of Heart. This unlocked his heart, therefore making the darkness in his heart come out and become a Pureblood Heartless. When Sora stabbed himself with the Keyblade of Heart, he had Kairi and Ventus' hearts inside of him. This also created Sora's Nobody, Roxas. Roxas is a special Nobody since he was created by a unique circumstance. Since Sora had Ventus' heart inside of him, Ventus' heart went with his body and soul (Roxas) and went inside of Roxas. Kairi's heart returned to her body and she was recompleted. Since Kairi is a Princess of Heart, she has special light abilities. Since this is the case, she was able to purify Sora's Heartless and bring him back to his human form. Sora was able to return back to his human form without the need and use of his body or soul, which is an extremely unique circumstance. He had technically become a walking, talking heart, until Roxas returned to him. Another thing to mention is how Sora's Heartless had a sense of self. When you willingly give in to the darkness and become a Heartless, then your Heartless will have a sense of self. Roxas Roxas is the Nobody of Sora. He took on the appearance of Ventus since he has Ventus' heart inside of him. Roxas has since returned back to Sora, and Sora is complete again. Roxas lacks his memory from when he was Sora because Sora's time as a Heartless was so short. Kairi Kairi is one of the Seven Princesses of Heart, so she doesn't have any darkness within her heart whatsoever. Since this is the case, when her heart left her body, no Heartless was created. Her heart took refuge within Sora and was later returned to her body when Sora stabbed himself with the Keyblade of Heart and she was recompleted. Since she is a Princess of Heart and couldn't produce a Heartless, no Nobody was created either. Her body did not fade away since she had a strong heart, but it did not turn into a Nobody either since she had no darkness within her heart to turn into a Heartless, so her body stayed in a sort of comatose state until her heart returned to her. Like I stated before, she could not produce a Nobody since there was no darkness within her heart to produce a Heartless. But, when Sora stabbed himself with the Keyblade of Heart, Kairi's heart was released, which then created a Nobody of Kairi since Sora did have darkness within his heart. Naminé Naminé is the Nobody of Kairi that was created by Sora instead of Kairi, as explained above. Since she was not created by a body or soul, she technically doesn't exist and shouldn't exist, but she does anyway. It is an extremely unique and special circumstance. Since she was created by such a unique circumstance and has a unique bond with Sora since she was created by him instead of Kairi, she is able to manipulate Sora's memories and the people's memories who are close to him. She has since returned to Kairi and Kairi is a complete person again. As stated above, Roxas has no memories of his time as Sora because Sora's time as a Heartless was so short. Naminé lacks her memory of her time as Kairi for this same reason. Naminé doesn't have her memory of her time as Kairi because Kairi never even had a Heartless to begin with. Terra-Xehanort Terra-Xehanort, also known as Apprentice Xehanort, is Terra's body taken over by Xehanort and is being used as a host body for Xehanort. He worked as an apprentice under the scientist, Ansem the Wise, so he can get close to the technology and resources that he has. He tested on different people and their hearts to see what affects different tests had. All of his tests ended in the people's hearts collapsing. He locked these people up in cells in a dungeon and since their hearts were collapsing, the darkness within them came out and consumed their hearts and became Pureblood Heartless. Heartless were very rare before these experiments occurred. He then created another test. He put alive people and dead people in the cell with these Heartless. The Heartless went for the alive people, because they had hearts. This caused the Heartless to increase in numbers. Apprentice Xehanort, along with the other apprentices of Ansem the Wise, then created a machine. This machine was the machine stated earlier that artificially created Heartless, known as Emblem Heartless. Later, Terra-Xehanort turned most of the apprentices into Pureblood Heartless by stabbing them all with his Keyblade. He also succumbed to the darkness and became a Pureblood Heartless himself. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness Ansem, Seeker of Darkness is the Heartless of Terra-Xehanort. He was created when the Robed Figure let himself be consumed by the darkness in his heart, therefore becoming a Heartless. That is what Ansem, Seeker of Darkness is. He had a sense of self, just like Sora's Heartless did, because he willingly became a Heartless. He is one of the only people to retain a human appearance after becoming a Heartless. He has since been destroyed by Sora. Scar Scar gave into the darkness in his heart, which caused the darkness within his heart to come out, consume his heart, then turn into a Pureblood Heartless. Scar retained his regular appearance, much like Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. He also had a sense of self, because he willingly became a Heartless. After Scar's Heartless was defeated, a strange and unique phenomenon occurred. Beings known as The Ghosts of Scar were formed from the lingering darkness of Scar. It is unknown why or how this exactly happened, and it is unknown if these "ghosts" would be classified as Heartless or not, but they were able to merge together to create an Emblem Heartless known as a Groundshaker, which is an even stranger phenomenon that has no current explanation. Xemnas Xemnas is the Nobody of Terra-Xehanort, created when Terra-Xehanort succumbed to the darkness and became a Heartless. Xemnas has since been destroyed by Sora. Since both Xehanort's Heartless and Nobody have been destroyed, Xehanort has returned as a complete person. Vanitas Vanitas is the darkness from inside of Ventus, taken humanoid form. Ventus was used by Xehanort to try and fulfill his plan of recreating the χ-blade. To recreate the χ-blade, two beings, one of pure light, and one of pure darkness, need to clash. So, Xehanort extracted the darkness side of Ventus' heart from within Ventus and it took a physical, humanoid form, known as Vanitas. Since Vanitas is a being of complete darkness, without a single bit of light within him, he produces extremely strong negative emotions. These negative emotions are so strong, that they take physical forms, known as Unversed. Riku In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Riku is considered to be a Dream Eater, because he has the ability to dive into Sora's dreams, and defeat the bad dreams, just like a Spirit Dream Eater would. That's it! I hope this was able to help anyone who was puzzled or somewhat confused with any of the enemies in the Kingdom Hearts universe Feel free to ask any questions in the comments below.

Since Xehanort is bringing his past selves for the final battle of light & darkness, should Sora and the gang do the same? I can see it happen if Xehanort decides to head into the past to rewrite history. Also, before anyone say anything about that "only 7 guardians can fight the seekers of darkness" stuff, anyone can join the battle. Goofy and Donald are gonna help Sora against Xehanort. Why not past Sora and everyone else?

I need to post this before I lose it. People, XION and ROXAS will NOT be Guardians of Light. I'm sorry to dash your dreams. And neither will Terra. I really hope I don't need to explain why the first 2 can't, it's very obvious. Even so, nearly every time someone posts "Their Pick" for the guardians of light I see both of those names on the list. Terra lost his heart, hence Ansem - Seeker of Darkness and Xemnes' creation, so it's probably in Kingdom Hearts. Therefor, the only logical list is as follows; Sora (Duh) Riku (Duh) King Mickey (Duh) Lea (He would not have started Keyblade training otherwise) Kairi (Yay! Also, same reason as Lea. She was given the ability to use a keyblade by Aqua) Aqua (She is still alive, just trapped in the realm of darkness) Ventus (His body is sleeping in Castle Oblivion somehow and his heart is still hiding within Sora) There you have it. In my opinion what appears to be the likely lineup of Guardians of Light.

I've been thinking about how Riku and Terra have been able to use the darkness while still being on the good side. This is making me wonder if darkness is really fully affiliated with evil. I mean, think about it, if it can be controlled by a good hearted person, then that must mean darkness can be a good thing, right? Sure, It is used a lot of times by evil beings and things, but that just means darkness is a nil thing, not taken sides until controlled. I just thought of something! I remembered that Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts 2 said that the heartless only obey the one with the strongest heart. If so, does this mean that ANYONE can control the heartless as long as they have a strong heart? So, like, if Sora were to become stronger than Xehanort, would that mean Sora would be able to control the heartless?! Am I getting this straight? (I couldn't find the scene on YouTube, but feel free to look it up. If I remember correctly, Xemnas was explaining to Maleficent in the cutscene exactly this and that he was controlling the heartless, not Maleficent.)

Kingdom Hearts Before the War (sign up and Discussion)
Wolf on the Run posted a topic in Roleplaying
Setting In the years before the First Keyblade War the worlds existed as one whole world one bright shining star filled with light no darkness in site everyday the light of kingdom hearts filled the world and everyone was happy as the Guardian of Kingdom Hearts the wielder of the X-Blade watched over all no Keyblade's were needed no Keyblade but the X-Blade existed peace prospered but Peace can't last forever. The one true World has existed for hundreds and hundreds of generations have lived out there lives in peace never knowing or seeing war but now it is finally coming to an end the last generation who could ever say that is meeting its end as the Generation that shall give birth to War step into the light and darkness is born. Plot This is a roleplay that shall take focus on not the Keyblade War but the events that lead up to it. It shall begin in a time of peace where everyone is on the side of light and no Keyblades are needed or even exist knowledge of the existence of the X-Blade is common sense in this world but no reason to ever fight against or desire it has ever come to people before, that will all end her near the start of this roleplay after anyone taking part has introduced there character once that task has been completed I will introduce a character that will set the world on its path to the keyblade war. The first Keyblade wielders shall come into being and darkness will begin to rise sides will be formed battles and hardships will be faced a roleplay in which you can start your character out as the nicest guy ever and later twist him into one of the cruelest and menacing characters ever the choice of how any character develops is up to you. I have created a set plot for this roleplay but anyone taking part can feel free to try and add more to that plot you can either attempt to add it in yourself or talk to me and we can see if it will work there will be no need to try and travel to other worlds in this roleplay as in this point in time all the worlds are one anyway you can still reference some of the worlds we know to exist in Kingdom Hearts Universe so far as countries or continents on the One True World also all characters who exist in the kingdom hearts including Disney and final fantasy characters do not exist in this world as this a story set long before any of them are born (well except Auron i can let him slide since he was actually a walking dead guy in Kingdom Hearts) I will explain the Plot in much greater detail later I just don't want to give everything away right away. Rules Basic KH13 Rules apply No God modding (I'll be breaking this rule myself fairly on but you'll see why later it's for the greater good i swear) No taking over other people's characters without there permission you can hit and slightly injure one another but don't be doing one hit KO's No Killing other peoples characters without there permission This is a war like Roleplay so we can gore swearing and a little sexual friction between characters just don't go over board All posts must be at least 3 lines long I take this rule seriously any posts under the required amount will be ignored You can have from 1 to 5 characters don't take that as you have to have lots of characters if your happy with 1 character fine with me So i know you read the rules write "Beginnings" at the end of your sign up If you have any questions or problems please come to me I'll help out best i can and do my best to be as fair as possible No Keyblades at the start of the Rp it's all related to the Plot and will be explained later No Characters who appear in the Kingdom Hearts series are to appear in this rp that includes Disney and Final Fantasy although Disney and Final Fantasy character not seen in Kingdom Hearts can appear in this Roleplay There is only one world it's known as True World but worlds from kingdom hearts can be referenced as countries and so on Character Set Up Name: Age: Gender: Keyblade: (For later in RP) Appearance: Personality: (Optional) Bio: (Optional) All add my own Set up soon Enjoy -
There's this one theory I've had that's been bugging me lately, and I just had to let it out now. Now my thoughts on this are currently a mess so bare with me I've been thinking about different aspects of the Kingdom Hearts universe, one in particular which is the law that Light and Darkness co-exist. Refer back to King Mickey's words, "The worlds are made up of both light and darkness; you can't have one without the other, because darkness is half of everything." But that's not all. What I really want to address is the struggle of Light and Darkness that has been going on since the inception of the series. We all know that they must co-exist no matter what, and that means they cannot be against one another. This time I'll call upon Fairy Godmother's words to Aqua in Birth by Sleep. She pretty much says that darkness stems from light and that both elements go hand in hand, hence light cannot be used to fight the darkness, and vice-versa. With these aspects in mind I want you to think about this: Young Xehanort's words to Young Eraqus in the most recent teaser for Kingdom Hearts III, "On that land shall darkness prevail and light expire." This quote had baffled me ever since I heard it, and I thought he was referring to the first Keyblade War where Darkness did prevail. But recently, I've changed my way of thinking. Since this is set when Eraqus and Xehanort were still training, I think that perhaps this is foreshadowing the outcome of the first Keyblade War in addition to the one coming in Kingdom Hearts III. As we know, it will be a struggle between Light and Darkness, and I think that perhaps Darkness will prevail once more. I hate to say it, but the evidence points to that outcome, if nothing is done to intervene. All clashes between the Light and the Darkness have resulted in something tragic/catastrophic, have they not? The first Keyblade War caused the true Kingdom Hearts to plunge into darkness, and countless wielders lost their lives for the X-blade and the universe was reduced to nothing. What about Ventus versus Vanitas to hastily forge the X-blade? Ventus lost his heart and became comatose. Terra versus Eraqus? Eraqus supposedly dies, due to the fact that he couldn't accept Darkness existing; he saw Light as the only way. What am I trying to say here? It's that clashing Light and Darkness together results in a severe consequence. Therefore, in order to defy fate in Kingdom Hearts III, the Guardians of Light need to fight the new Organization XIII with something else, not the Light. They need some kind of alternate weapon to stop the Darkness from prevailing. What is that weapon? I do not know. This is just a speculation of mine, so no flaming. I would like to discuss this possibility with you as mature fans. Please leave your thoughts below and tell me if you think this makes sense or not. If you have any evidence that can scrap this theory, fire away But as far as I'm concerned, this is very probable. Peace!

Okay, so I've been over-analyzing things AGAIN, and it seems that the Light and Darkness plot of Kingdom Hearts is starting to rattle me a bit. Some have of the characters in this game believe that Light is good and Darkness is completely bad. ( Master Eraqus) Some folks believe that neither Light nor Darkness are sufficient. (Xemnas) And then there's the people who believe that Light and Darkness are a balance, and that neither is more important than the other. (The Fairy from Cinderella) Okay, so whose right? Here's the things I don't get: 1. Kairi's grandmother tells of a time when all the worlds were connected and everyone lived in the light, and they all loved it.... This statement alone implies that Light is more preferable. If Light and Darkness are both a balance, then why did everyone only prefer living in the Light? 2. But people began to fight over the Light.....if it was available to everybody, what was the need for fighting over it? Isn't that like starting a war over oxygen? 3.The Light was then swallowed up by Darkness, and now rests deeply inside it...You would think that this means Darkness is bad because it hid the precious Light, but Darkness isn't always evil is it? 4.In BBS, the Fairy Godmother told Aqua she can't fight Darkness with Light, which is exactly what Sora has been doing since the beginning 5.If Darkness isn't evil, then why does it have so many hostile beings living inside it? 6.Everyone has a good and dark side. If Darkness isn't bad, why are the dark sides automatically evil? (Vanitus for example) 7. Why are some people unable to control their dark sides? (Terra) 8. What exactly are the dark sides of us made of? Is it mean thoughts, attitudes, etc.? Ventus was stripped of his dark side, and he was still a little mean towards Aqua. 9. How is it possible for someone to be made of complete Light? Wouldn't that make the Princess unable to do any wrong? (Mary sues?) 10.If you're not supposed to fight the Darkness with Light, then what do you fight it with? Are you not supposed to fight it at all? Well you can' t do that, because most of the creatures of Darkness want to KILL YOU! 11. Some characters like Riku can't fully belong to Darkness or Light, but still identify with the Light. Does this make them biased, or just hypocritical? 12. Is it possible for a person to be bad without the Darkness's help? (I would assume so, because Pete was a naughty dude even before he joined Maleficent.) 13. People lose their Keyblades when they give into the Darkness, but can keep them if they return to/ or stay in the Light? What? If that's the case, then Xehanort should have lost his Keyblade too? (I have a speculation about that, but it's a whole new can of worms, so don't worry about it.) Can't have it both ways. You wanna say that Light and Darkness are equal, but the Darkness and all it's beings are constantly swallowing up worlds, destroying people's lives, etc. No wonder people prefer the Light. Maybe there's two kinds of Darkness, good and bad? I don't know.
