I don't care if nobody else watched it, I'm making this damn thread. So to sum up my feelings about the new Sonic cartoon "Sonic Boom": Now, going in and seeing the promos and the stuff from the video games at face value, you're probably thinking "oh, this might be like Sonic SatAM where they're in some kind of crazy world and going on adventures and stuff" ... well, they're in some kind of crazy world, I guess, but the adventure part is sort of left to be desired. I can tell, however, that there is more high energy action-y adventure-y type stuff on the way; our first two episodes are more focusing on introducing the cast as well as the writing style the show is going to take. As for the cast: well, they're what you'd expect your favorite Sonic characters to be like in a weekly cartoon show format: Sonic is the main hero (with an attitude); Tails is the smart sidekick; Amy is annoying as hell, but a "funny" annoying and not "annoying" annoying (though it doesn't look like she's going to have any romantic feelings for Sonic in this canon. That might change later on though); Knuckles is an egotistical dick (lol, he totally reminds me of Roy Mustang) and our new gal Sticks (not Marine) is a spunky raccoon with a paranoid streak. She's basically the opposite of Amy and from what the games have advertised, I think those two in paticular will have some good chemistry. So how's the writing? I'll tell you how it is, it's f*cking hilarious. This show, first off, is not taking itself seriously, so you should not take it seriously either. Our first episode split into two parts has our first part involving Sonic firing Tails as his sidekick and opening up the position to new candidates, and the second part is about Eggman crashing at Sonic's place as his fortress gets wrecked during a storm (I won't go any further than that because spoilers.) What follows these two plots are humorous banter between our characters that do well to establish their personalities right off the bat as well as provide some back-and-forth and very blunt humor that I personally think is hilarious, mostly because its the type of humor you see me emit on a daily basis. lol It's very loose and while it gives off the impression that, you know, Eggman isn't that much of a villain due to this "antics"... you couldn't really expect him to be any worse anyway. He's Eggman. He's always been a joke. lol And he's very introverted in this show as well. Eggman, believe it or not, has some sort of secret desire to actually be Sonic's friend. Well, sort of. He denies it constantly, but if you pay attention to subtle hints, you might discover that his feelings are true. That's what I think after all. If anybody else is going to actually come to this thread, then share your own thoughts about the first episode and what your thoughts on the series are below.
