Sega's boost in profits thanks to Persona 5 and Total War
Guest posted a topic in General Discussion
"Packaged games sold 10.28 million units in the fiscal year, an increase over last year’s 9.22 million and this was thanks to the launch of mainstay titles including Total War: Warhammer, the latest entry of the Total War series that is super popular in Europe, and has sold more than 20 million copies in 16 years. Persona 5, the new installment of the Persona series, also had a strong performance, as you might recall Atlus announcing last month that it shipped out 1.5 million copies worldwide." This is really impressive considering the fact that Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces has yet to come out. 2017 is the year for Sega to redeem themselves as a loved publisher! -
From Siliconera "Atlus teased a new Radiant Historia game earlier tonight, and this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine reveals it as Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, a full remake of the original game with new scenario on 3DS. No furhter information was revealed other than Perfect Chronology being a full remake of the Nintendo DS RPG on 3DS. Additional details including a game overview and new elements for the remake will be revealed in the magazine. Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology releases in Japan on June 29, 2017 for Nintendo 3DS." ... if this doesn't interest you about the game, I'll tell you what will, Yoko Shimomura! She's composed the entire soundtrack for the game. Go support this remake once it releases! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICvr93Bz1S4

Valkyria Revolution is coming to the West for PS4/Xbox One and PS Vita
Guest posted a topic in General Discussion
For those of you who are interested in the Valkyria Chronicles franchise, Sega has kindly decided to release this game to the west for 2017 for PS4/Xbox One and PS Vita. For those who are not aware, Atlus USA and Sega USA work in the same office so I can guarantee you that Atlus helped influence this decision. I'm going to get the game to support Sega releasing more of their Japanese franchises to the west.- 2 replies

He said that if Sonic 2017 is a critical failure, the Sammy division are going to make a Pachinko franchise out of him and he'll never see the light of day in the console market ever again. He also said that the real reason why Persona 5 was delayed by Atlus USA because the dubbing team memes weren't dank enough on social media so they have to put that game on halt so they can make meme-ing great again!

At this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Sega announced that they acquired all the intellectual properties of defunct development company Technosoft. Back in the day, Technosoft was a second party developer for Sega during their console days. To celebrate this, Sega is re-releasing Thunder Force III as part of the final Sega 3D Classic Collection game. Personally, I’m glad that Sega has acquired this company. They’ve got a small pool of IP’s, however, those IP’s are strong in their own right. This means that these intellectual properties won’t be lost in Sega’s vast library of software. Here are the franchises that Technosoft are known for. [Games summary by TechRaptor] Thunder Force: A side-scrolling shoot ’em up that has had 6 main entries starting in 1983, with the most recent being a PlayStation 2 release in 2008. Herzog: This series is best known for its sequel called Herzog Zwei, which is considered to be the world’s first real-time strategy game and was cited by Dune II as one of their influences. Plazma Line: A first-person space racing game released in 1984. Its claim to fame is being the first computer game with 3D polygon graphics. Elemental Master: A top-down shoot ’em up for the Genesis/Mega Drive released in 1990 that got rated over 9 out of 10 by several critics. Now people may be curious as to what happened to this company? Well, they were purchased by a Pachinko company called Twenty-One in 2001. This pachinko company closed down Technosoft. I find it all the more ironic that a Pachinko company brought them back to relevance again… well technically, their intellectual properties. Sega have mentioned that they will be re-releasing Technosoft games under the Sega banner. I personally can’t wait to experience these games for myself. On a separate note, Sega seems to be The Walt Disney Company in terms of gaming acquisitions lately...

Deep Silver to publish Atlus and select Sega games in Europe.
Guest posted a topic in General Discussion
"Take a seat real quick, Europe; we need to talk. I know we haven't always gotten along together, but that's the past. And the past is the past. We're looking toward the future. And it's a bright one, because Atlus U.S.A. and SEGA of America are partnering with Deep Silver to release multiple upcoming titles in Europe." "Wait, am I talking about Persona 5? You bet I am. Oh, and there's more! Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse too. And the SEGA title 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. All releasing in Europe in both physical and digital form. And it doesn't stop there, more ATLUS and SEGA titles are in the works for this publishing deal." "We don't have any timetables for any release dates yet (it's safe to say 7th Dragon III Code: VFD won't ship simultaneously), but we'll have more on release dates in the coming weeks." Sure, the combat system and challenge of the game is disappointing, but as far as cross-over tributes go, this is one of the best. The pixel animation itself is mouth-watering. This series is made by Monolith Soft (the same people responsible for Xenoblade Chronicles).

Amazon just kicked off a huge digital games sale involving Sega. Over 200 titles are 75% off. That includes everything from Sonic the Hedgehog to Valkyria Chronicles. http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=s9_acss_bw_hsb_VGBBJul2_s1_s?_encoding=UTF8&node=7266959011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-2pf_rd_r&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=2156067902&pf_rd_i=468642&tag=kinjadeals-20&ascsubtag=87a642b659911b29c29f65daba84cdd3ecb52a85&rawdata=%5Bt|link%5Bp|1721996152%5Bau|5727177402741770316

The CEO and President of SEGA, Hajime Satomi, has admitted in an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu that he feels the company has “betrayed” the trust of their fans with several titles released, and how the focus of the company will now shift to quality releases to “win back the customers’ trust”. Here is what he said in the interview: Satomi follows by admitting the company has “partially betrayed” their older fans with select games. Satomi could of course be partially referring the recently Sonic Boom and past bad Sega games like Sonic 06. It’s not all doom and despair though, as Satomi says there could be a new home console game announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2015, which is in September. Could it be Sonic 25th anniversary title? He responds to Famitsu with a closing statement. How do you feel about the comments made by SEGA’s CEO? Do you agree with him?

To me, it would be a physical day 1 buy! I'm getting the PS3 version so it might be around $40 to $50. I love the series and I won't miss on this!

It's very hard to think of a voice actor for him. I was thinking of Bryce Papenbrook with his popularity or maybe Todd Haberkorn or maybe even Sam Riegel to get a step up from Teddie. As for his canon name, why not Kira Shatoshi?

This is the Sega Dreamcast. It was Sega's last console they every produced, and it was a damn good send-off to their legacy in the console business. The main reasons it never really caught on were these things. The PS2 took its thunder because of better hardware, marketing, and having a DVD player. The console hardly ever had third-party software. The Dreamcast was one of the easiest consoles to pirate games from. That didn't help sales at all. My father got a Dreamcast back in 2000, and sold it a couple years later to get a PS2 for the MGS games. I regret ever getting rid of the Dreamcast, but I'm also thankful we got a PS2 as well. It had great games like Jet Set Radio, both Sonic Adventures, both Shenmue's, ILLBLEED, Crazy Taxi, and more. Did you guys ever have one and had good memories about it? Just curious...

The majority of the Sonic fanbase confuses me. This might be old news, but I just needed to get this off my chest. Why are people mad at this? Sonic fans are acting like it's the end of his character, and the franchise is ruined!! I heard this from a close pal of mine, who is mad how Sonic's arms are now blue instead of a flesh color. And then I found out he wasn't the only one who expressed this distaste. Yet, they don't complain about the extra spines on his head, his new bandages or brown scarf? It's temporary! Stop whining, you silly Sonic fans! This is the same rage that happened when Sonic's eyes turned green back in 1998. Okay, rant over. What do you think about the blue arms? Just curious...
