I asked IO Interactive about the possibility of a release of Hitman: Absolution on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Unfortunately, they told me there are no plans to do so but they confirmed it is possible they will make it playable on Xbox One via backwards compatibility in the future and on other PlayStation platforms including PlayStation 4 via PlayStation Now.

Obviously HITMAN is a fresh and bold step forward for the franchise but it has been a bit confusing so IO Interactive has cleared things up.

Hitman: HD Trilogy combines Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money in one package for PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360. They're also all available on PlayStation Now. Hitman 2: Silient Assassin and Hitman: Contracts have been remastered in high definition while Hitman: Blood Money was released on Xbox 360 originally and as a result it's already in HD, but of course now in HD for the first time on PlayStation platforms. It also includes the downloadable Hitman: Sniper Challenge for free. Silent Assassin and Contacts have aged poorly, these games are now both over ten years old and it shows. They look dull and plain, the story is seriously lacking, the controls could be better and there's too much of a steep learning curve. Blood Money has a promising opening level but then you're thrown into something completely different and yet another boring story. Fans of Hitman: Absolution expecting a similar experience will be sadly disappointed. I quite enjoyed Absolution. What you had to do was clear and the game gave you many ways to do it. You could take a complete stealth approach, you could play it like a third-person-shooter or you could develop a mix. It was as they wanted, much more approachable than these titles. With these titles it's all trial and error, you must be patient, you can't rush into anything. Even on the easiest difficulty settings you can't play these games like Absolution. There are maps but it's still hard to find your target a lot of the time in these games. And honestly you move too slowly for what they try to do in Contacts. Music is nice though to be honest. And David Bateson is of course the voice of Agent 47 and does a great job. The trophy/achievement lists are lazy to be honest. The images are boring with the exception of Blood Money. There isn't many trophies/achievements, most of them are hard and honestly most are uninteresting. I enjoyed Hitman: Sniper Challenge but it was developed for Absolution so it wouldn't be fair to include it in the overall score. If you enjoyed these games on PlayStation 2, Xbox or GameCube pick this up, it's a good HD collection. if you didn't be sure you know what you're getting into, these games aren't for me I know that for sure. 6/10
