Netflix have announced an original series called First Love, inspired by Utada Hikaru's debut album "First Love" and her most recent album "Hatsukoi". This announcement is being met with enthusiasm by many Kingdom Hearts fans, who have naturally come to admire Utada Hikaru's other work outside the theme songs (and their many iterations) she has performed for the series. The new scripted series, now in production, is set to launch worldwide in 2022. Utada's "First Love" was released in 1999, setting her up for being one of the most renowned Japanese musicians of her time, and becoming the best-selling album in Japan to date. "Hatsukoi" (which in Japanese means "first love") was released in 2018, setting it almost a decade apart from "First Love". Netflix has drawn inspiration from these albums and has fittingly written the series to be about the first love of a young couple, from their first meeting in the 90's through to today. The series will be directed by Yuri Kanchiku, and will co-star Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh. Mitsushima will be playing Yae Noguchi, an aspiring flight attendant who was met with a tragic accident, and Satoh will play Harumichi Namiki, an ex-pilot. Utada has written several songs for dramas, anime, films – and of course, Kingdom Hearts – in her career. More footage of the Kingdom Hearts III Round Theatre showcase at the "Tower of Radiance and Shadow" has surfaced, showing new footage from the game, including brief scenes from the opening cinematics, Kingdom of Corona, selfie scenes in San Fransokyo and Monstropolis, and Sora walking and running across the screen. During the screening, an orchestra version of Chikai was also heard. You can see the new footage below. Updated[January 08, 2019]: More footage has surfaced revealing the full preview of the orchestral version of Chikai! Updated [January 10, 2019]: Twitter user aitaikimochii has released a video of the Kingdom Key sequence in action at the Toyko Skytree! Update [January 12th, 2019]: Even more footage has been released from Twitter user clow_shirow showing off the 360°special video and even the elevator from the event. Utada Hikaru - the artist known for her work on the Kingdom Hearts theme songs, will be performing the Kingdom Hearts III theme song "Chikai" for the first time at MUSIC STATION ultra FES 2018. MUSIC STATION Ultra FES is an annual even hosted by TV Asahi's "MUSIC STATION" which showcases Japan's biggest performers newest releases and will air September 17th. As well as performing "Chikai", Utada-san will also be discussing her new album "Hatsukoi" and reminiscing over her 20 year music career with presenter Tomori-san. When I first heard Don't Think Twice (called "Chikai" in Japanese), I was sort of on the fence about it. I got super emotional and teared up listening to it the first time because it's the KH3 Utada theme, but at the same time, I was sort of somewhat disappointed when I compared it to Simple And Clean and Sanctuary. But, after listening to it more and more, the more it grows on me. I absolutely love it now. It's a really beautiful song and it really sort of encompasses my feelings towards this series. I can understand why some people think it might be "meh," since I used to have somewhat of that mindset, but I love it now. It's grown on me so much. I can just imagine hearing it as the credits roll for KH3 after a super emotional ending and super emotional game experience as a whole.
