  1. I'm not sure about surprises necessarily for gameplay, but BBS confuses me often. I just finished a platinum run for the first time (not a big fan of the gameplay so it was a trek, but that's beside the point) and there were spots were the damage scaling made no sense to me. So I guess one surprise though in that vein was getting to Villain's Vendetta with Ventus after just obliterating every match in Mirage Arena before that, only to find that suddenly I was doing chip damage to every one of the bosses. So I left and came back after gaining only two levels I think? Boom, all the bosses die in a few uses of Lightning Ray shotlock. Really don't understand why a couple levels makes that much of a drastic difference in the game and kind of think its an annoying development choice, but oh well. Got the platinum anyways haha.
  2. Yeah, you do just okay damage even at level 1 with good equipment but mostly being in forms is what helps take down any significant HP, and also party members do a ton more damage than you can. But ultimately it is more of avoiding attacks like you said and staying alive, because you can die in a few hits. Especially in this 3v3 fight which ends up quickly becomes a 1v3 because your party members die so fast on critical mode lol so the Nort Court kind of gangs up on you, and you have to either get really good at knowing attack patterns and dodging three at once sometimes, or use items to cure your friends a lot. Or sometimes both haha. Either way this fight is both fun and frustrating when you get the hang of it but definitely one of the hardest fights in the game at Level 1 because there's so much to deal with at all times. In this video I'd already beaten Young Xehanort when the glitch happened so like I said, super relieved to not have to do it again.
  3. Haha glad to see you enjoyed it! It was definitely a confusing time in real time lol. Thanks, and honestly I cut off a long ending to the video where I'm running around forever trying to figure out ways to fix it, because that fight is sooo obnoxious for me at Level 1, and I was super afraid I'd have to reset and fight all three again... which I was not excited for. But luckily the game was still working enough to let me finish Xemnas off.
  4. Good to know I'm not totally alone! That's totally fair. Most of the Arendelle criticism I see is pretty warranted, in my opinion, whether people agree with it or not. And as we know the developers weren't exactly given total freedom there... which sucks.
  5. Thanks! Glad to be around, seems like a good community so far. A little less unique, but here's another video I uploaded to the archive: https://www.kh13.com/videos/view-4636-kh3-data-young-xehanort-boss-lvl-1no-damageno-magicno-itemsno-linkskingdom-key/ This one was challenge fight I did for the Young Xehanort data battle at Level 1 with a bunch of restrictions. Hopefully someone else enjoys it too!

  8. It's amazing how complicated things can get when you accidentally write most of the story backwards lol, that's why I don't fault Nomura for some of the ridiculousness. But if the same haphazard, throw out everything and see what sticks attitude is still applied to this new saga, I will be somewhat disappointed, I'm hoping he has more planned out now.
  9. I uploaded a video to the archives: https://www.kh13.com/videos/view-4635-kh3-triple-xehanort-fight-xemnas-glitch/ This was a glitch I ran into during a Level 1 playthrough of KH3 where Xemnas stays on the field during Master Xehanort's DM, presumably because of stun lock. I could no longer lock onto Xemnas and the game refused to move out of the phase with the attacking keyblades, although he did eventually take enough damage to die anyways, which fixed the fight and allowed me to fight the remaining members of the Nort Court.

  12. I think KH3 was a perfect middle ground as well, beautiful and not too confusing but verticality and just the right amount of puzzling. My only problem with it is the areas are huge, which is awesome until you spend a lot of time in the area leveling up or collecting, only to die and have it reset when you hit continue. This was never an issue when the areas were much smaller.
  13. KH1 is full of some confusing areas when you don’t know them by heart haha. That’s why part of me was okay with KH2’s “hallway” worlds. Easier to traverse at least.
  14. I'm assuming you've already learned the answer to this is yes, but I just wanted to add I'm really excited about it, since there was no way I was going to be able to buy that box set. I'm so hyped to finally hear Master of Masters Theme without any dialogue over it!
  15. No problem, man. Glad there's so many people I can connect with who share my enthusiasm for the series.
  16. Hey all, I'm pretty new here and mostly use Reddit to talk about KH, so please don't crucify me if this has been discussed ad nauseam. I'm very aware that a lot of the fanbase had a big problem with Arendelle in KH3 in general, but I wanted to see what the overall opinions here are on the ice labyrinth section specifically. Personally I liked the Arendelle level overall from a gameplay perspective, but I basically adored the labyrinth. The atmosphere is bleak, the visuals are darker and the music moodier, and it was a surprisingly subdued and interesting departure from most Kingdom Hearts world as well as the rest of the Arendelle level. Now on the flip side, I've heard most people say they despised this part or even that it was their least favorite section of the game. Wanted to hear what you guys think about it. Edit: I forgot to include that it also features the introduction of Larxene's Ninja Nobody enemies, which I also thought were super dope!
  17. It was always a little bizarre for me when I first started to learn some of the fan consensus on KH1 and 2 worlds, since I played the games as a kid for years before I was ever on the internet in a substantial way. Stuff like Deep Jungle being hated, Pride Lands being hated, a lot of the KH2 worlds being too linear. I can where a lot of that is coming from, but I have a fondness for almost every world and area from those two games. As far as my own personal least favorites, KH1 Monstro was always somewhat boring to me despite great music. But maybe that's just because I also spent so long wandering similar looking chambers as a kid looking for 4.
  18. I think there's a couple of things at play here. As far as Kingdom Hearts III and the divide: On one hand, the expectations for Kingdom Hearts III were so sky high, but more importantly, so varied that it was going to be nearly impossible to measure up. There were players who had played the entire series, players who'd willing ignored important entries, etc. In my opinion, there are legitimate criticisms of the game. Whether or not these overshadow the many positives is subjective to the individual player. Unfortunately, living in 2020 is a double-edged sword for art; there's never been more places to find people who share your enthusiasm, just as there's never been more criticism and hatred of the things you enjoy shoved in your face. My point is, whatever opinion you're looking to have backed up online, there's likely a place you can find it. For this reason, you should probably try not to be bothered so much by the seeming fanbase divide. I doubt it's as drastic as it seems on the internet where everything is either the greatest thing ever or the most disappointing. For what it's worth, KH2 split the fanbase just as much at the time of its release. It took time for people to level out and judge it with some semblance of nuance. I suspect the same will happen for KH3 and on some level it already has. As for the overall attitude of gaming toward the Kingdom Hearts series, it's a similar thing. Who really cares what anyone else thinks of the things you like? It's very interesting how a majority of people that dislike or dismiss the series are very cynical, or uninterested in levity. Kingdom Hearts can be cheesy, and maybe stupid, or childish. But these are honestly some of the reasons I like it so much, it's a source of much needed basic good vs. evil story that makes me feel good. That doesn't mean I don't also like stories that are morally gray, complex, etc. I think the things Kingdom Hearts does well, it does very well and that's why it still has such a large fanbase today and keeps appealing to new people, nostalgia aside. All in all I'd just say you do and like whatever you want to as long as it's not hurting anyone else. People who are going to bother you about it aren't worth remembering anyway.
  19. I feel like I'm alone in thinking that the old style KH3 Kairi model is strange looking, not sure what it is but something looks weird about it. Maybe I'm just not used to it. In any case, the game looks gorgeous and I'm hyped to see both Neverland tracks for Days confirmed.
  20. I've always been a fan of the way Hollow Bastion's field theme takes on a new form in each of its iterations, but ultimately the original in KH1 is still my favorite of these (although I loved the new mix in ReMind as well). Also, I'm a big fan of both Neverland themes so I can't really choose which is better. Days' version is mysterious and musically interesting, while the BBS version is cheerier (including a possible allusion to You Can Fly at the beginning of its main melody) and fits that game better.
