For real!

I found this thread on KHInsider and thought it was pretty funny since I did two videos on this very topic + even citing the same books these people are talking about https://www.khinsider.com/forums/index.php?threads/kingdom-hearts-and-philosophy.136876/

I'd like to agree with you given the series' use of more Taoistic influence, but I think the series shys away from that too much to be the case. We've never had a "good-darkness guy". I'd like to count Terra and Riku but admittedly I have a hard time. They struggled with Darkness as if it was a disease. Arguably thats because they were manipulated, but even Malifcient/SoD and Xehanort count too. Consistently using Dark Elemental Magic makes for a good case though Eraqus is the only real debatable person regarding a "bad-light guy", but its less that he was bad and more just misguided/blind by his own personal feelings. Good point but I feel like it could be also said that anger and jealousy are elements from evil/darkness, kinda like the Darkside of the Force
-
Darkness seems to be a literal force of nature, like "the darkside of the force"
-
True but normally Darkness in and of itself doesnt consume the person unless the individual is enthralled with it. If a decently good person, say like Sora, died of an ilness, I don't think they'd spawn a Heartless. Sora seemingly only spawned one because of the Keyblade of Heart. Then there's the other instance. seemingly being overtaken by another Heartless, like the guy from Traverse Town Not sure if its just negativity? That sounds more like Unversed
-
From what we've seen, yea. Just because the series is so heavily concentrated on those involved with the Heartless-Nobody life cycle. Sora, the main protagonist, is an abnormality in almost every way with the given lore lol I think some people who would die of natural causes, say they had an ilness or something, could be consumed by darkness and then possibly form a Nobody But I don't think everyone whose ever lived necessarrily has a Heartless But anyways, since the Chirithys don't contribute to the personhood of a being, I'm not too worried about them. It seems like the individual themself influence their Chirithy rather than the other way around
-
Well you only get Heartless/Nobody if (a) your heart is consumed by Darkness and (b) if (a) is true + you have a strong will; Supposedly someone could die of natural causes and not turn into either
-
lol Seems like the Chirithys act as kinda the "angel/demon on the shoulder" type thing where everybody has 1 of each Cause the Nightmare Chirithy, according to wiki, is* also *your Chirithy

According to wiki, Chrithys can be Spirits or Nightmares

Or are the Players just like out sleeping somewhere like Ventus was and Dream Eater projections of themselves are just running around? Oh true ` After the catastrophic event that separated the worlds, all the Keyblade wielders that weren't sent off on an ark were given the choice to go to sleep. Those who chose to had their hearts eaten by their Chirithys, in order to protect them while they slept, which transformed them into Dream Eaters. ` Their own Chirithys ate them woah
-
So after the Keyblade War, the Player becomes a Spirit DE? This right? Or just any type of DE? And I mean becomes in the same way someone becomes a Heartless/Nobody - like they physically change in some way (die, killed, possessed, whatever)
-
Thats why we stan Roxas tho
-
I see
-
lol yea
-
Ah yah, agreed then But that would mean Sora is a walking heart from the end of KH1 to beginning of KH2 >which is fine ig
-
But which are they first? Cause like Heartless can be Pureblood or Emblem but the Pureblood came first(?) So whats the primary function/state of Dream Eaters?
-
I was pretty sure he physically has Sora's, since thats generally how the Nobody cycle works. I was under the impression Roxas' form changed though because of Sora's relation to Ventus. So Sora's body with a metaphysical plastic surgery, was kinda my idea?
-
No. Honestly they're the ones I'm faintest on. I never understood well what they were in relation to regular people
-
Since Roxas technically has the body
-
Somewhat, mostly due to Kairi interrupting his Heartless form. It is to my understanding that Sora, from KH1 resurrection to reunion with Roxas, is essentially just a walking Heart, right?
-
Lol. I'm counting them as just normal people since Yen Sid uses Donald as the example when describing the Heartless-Nobody life cycle, seemingly implying Donald and Sora are similar enough regarding personhood Yea I've got that one
-
What are some specific instances of abnormal existences within the series? Like essentially anything that has a heart/body/soul and/or is counted as a person/existing that seemingly shouldnt I've got Nobodies, Heartless, Lingering Will, Vanitas, Data/Replicas Anything I'm missing?
-
Lore wise. I'm working on a Philosophy x Kingdom Hearts thing and just wanna make sure I'm covering my bases Specifically regarding the different types of beings in KH that have to do a lot with existence/personhood
