I wish we had a clearer look at that blue/purple Heartless. When I first looked at it, its appearance reminded me of what the Three Musketeers wore; the hat, the long white gloves that flare outward... It does seem to have a feminine body shape in this screenshot, but I can't say 100% for sure. The rest of its "outfit" could be a dress or just a long coat/cloak. I kinda don't see them bringing back the Country of Musketeers, though, so... *shrugs* Either way, the look blends in well with the Kingdom of Corona world, so it works.

Do we actually know for sure that the Disney worlds we've seen are the only ones we're getting, though? There could be more that we haven't seen. I'm fine with waiting until the game is out to find out. And if you're hoping for another reveal before then, there's still Jump Festa which might have something. (Keyword being "might". Temper your expectations.)

Should Riku be killed off?
setsugekka replied to Chasm's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Terra didn't fail the Mark of Mastery because of Xehanort. He failed because Eraqus knew that Terra was more concerned with "winning" and possessing the title than with what it really meant be a Keyblade Master. Aqua passed because she showed a levelheadedness that Terra didn't possess. However, her flaw is that she expected Terra and Ventus to always be as rational as she was, and that caused her to overlooking their feelings. That's why she wasn't able to get through to them. Aqua has spent a small eternity inside the darkness, fighting endlessly, constantly reaffirming her resolve, struggling towards a goal that has become like a mirage, always out of her reach. As we've seen, she ultimately wasn't able to withstand that struggle anymore, but she didn't fall before putting forth a tremendous amount of effort. This is what makes her impervious to death now. She's paid the tax. I don't think we've seen anything comparable from Terra yet. If he hopes on making it out of KH3 alive, he's gonna have to work. -
I don't think that people are wrong for thinking that Vanitas could be redeemed. Vanitas has a heart. It would seem uncharacteristically cynical for KH to tell us that a heart filled with darkness will always be filled with darkness, that "bad people are just bad and can never change". I know it's hard to imagine how a being of pure darkness could be redeemed, though. He's seen the suffering of others and hasn't been moved. He seems cruel and contemptuous. But what if something affected him personally? Right before he was defeated by Ventus, he was afraid. If obeying Xehanort means losing his life again, I think he would disobey him. Doubling as a metaphor isn't invalidating his personhood, if that's what you're thinking. Because he's a manifested metaphor, the fact that he's back again practically guarantees that he has to change in some way. Otherwise, Nomura's just repeating himself. lol

Should Riku be killed off?
setsugekka replied to Chasm's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Eraqus, as far as we know, is the only character to die and stay dead. But the state of what it means to "be alive" is so abstract in the universe of Kingdom Hearts now, I find it hard to believe that he's really dead. And I personally think that's kinda cool. Lemme explain-- There was a line from Axel in Days about how even apart, people are always connected. It wasn't just something Axel said, either. That sentiment is echoed in various other ways throughout the series. It gives the sense that even death isn't enough to separate people. As long as someone remains in your HEART, they'll always be alive. (Hey there, Sephiroth!) Kingdom Hearts presents many of its abstract concepts (light, darkness, hearts, etc) in literal ways. I think that even death is following this type of logic. That's why "nobody dies" doesn't sound like a criticism to me. It sounds more like a fact of the universe. Nobody truly dies. Nobody dies, even if they're forgotten by everyone. As long as a part of them remains somewhere in the corner of someone's heart, they'll live forever. Literally. ...And this is why I think Nomura would have to come up with a really good reason or some situation that would break through this logic. Like, idk, erasing someone's existence entirely from the timeline. *stares at young Xehanort* What happens if your past self dies in the future? I wonder if we'll find out. -
Should Riku be killed off?
setsugekka replied to Chasm's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Exactly. There are so many characters at this point, it would be hard for KH to move forward into a new saga without leaving some characters behind. That doesn't have to mean death. (But for someone like Xehanort... Yeah, probably death. lol) The trailers haven't given any indication of Riku being in danger, either. imo, it would feel like an unexpected gut punch if something DID end up happening to him. Nomura also seems really reluctant to permanently kill off characters. I think he'd probably only kill someone off for good if he had a reeeeally good reason. -
Should Riku be killed off?
setsugekka replied to Chasm's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
I could see there maybe being some kind of fakeout where he does something extremely risky that shows that he would give everything for his friends, even his life, but I just haven't felt the death flags on him. I was more concerned about Riku in KH2, but he pulled through and made up for his wrongs by learning how to control the darkness. I'm worried more for Terra. He's Riku's parallel in the Wayfinder Trio. Terra struggled against the darkness like Riku did, but he ultimately let Xehanort control him by giving in to his selfishness and doubts. There's no way Terra could escape KH3 without the story forcing him to pay the price for that somehow. But also, I don't think anyone HAS to die. Any conflict can be set straight without death being "necessary". -
Remaining Disney Worlds For KH3
setsugekka replied to ColesKingdom's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Atlantis and Treasure Planet have always been stuck in cult status, so I'm worried that they'd never even have a chance... But since they gave Nightmare Before Christmas a chance, I think there's always hope. They have so much potential. The concept and characters of Treasure Planet are really strong, and the world of Atlantis is already gorgeous and would give them a lot to work with. If either of those get chosen, I could see them becoming as memorable and beloved as Halloween Town. It's a shame if the "overlap" with Pirates of the Caribbean would wipe them out... They might think that "Atlantis" and "Atlantica" would cause confusion in the series, too... Princess and the Frog feels like a likely candidate. That would be a really lively and colorful world. I could also see them getting a lot out of Brave. I know what you mean about the world of Brave looking similar to Tangled, but I think the content of the movie is different enough to change up the gameplay and make Brave's world feel unique. -
I certainly hope so. And if it is, I better be allowed to visit Ienzo in-person whenever I want.

Oh, did he say that? I could've sworn I heard that the Disney worlds we've seen are all the ones that are in the game, but I can't remember where I heard that... It's getting hard to keep track of all this info. lol I still hope that some worlds (Disney or original worlds) will remain a surprise. Either way, I'm starting to turn into a believer. I already rewatched Atlantis juuust in case... Now I think I'll watch Treasure Planet. I never felt that strongly about Treasure Planet before, but I see why people think it would make an awesome world for KH. The pirate theme might overlap a bit with Pirates of the Caribbean, but it's pirates in SPAAAAAACE.

KHIII English Dub Voice Actors
setsugekka replied to Scsigs's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Ah. You're probably right about that then. I didn't hear about Jesse McCartney being asked. Just makes me wonder why certain voice actors seem to have the liberty to say that they're in the game while others wouldn't. Maybe some NDAs were signed before SE knew which characters they were going to reveal ahead of time? -
KHIII English Dub Voice Actors
setsugekka replied to Scsigs's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
I see that you put Derek Stephen Prince on the list as Vexen because Even/Vexen appeared in one of the trailers, but the last I heard, he said he hadn't been asked to reprise his role. That was a few months ago and his comment about it seemed to imply that recording was already finished without him. (If you're curious, here's my source.) Obviously, they had to get a new Japanese voice actor because his original Japanese VA passed away in 2010. But... That wouldn't explain why they wouldn't have asked his English VA to return. I mean... Unless he just plain lied. lol When he was asked, we still hadn't seen Vexen in the trailers, so maybe he lied to keep it a surprise? To my knowledge, he still hasn't personally confirmed anything. I dunno. I'm just curious what you guys think and if you might have any other new details about this situation. (Or, heck, maybe someone who's braver than me can ask him again on Instagram.) -
Too much shown?
setsugekka replied to ColesKingdom's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
I do kinda wish they showed us less because I'm the type of person who hates spoilers and wants to indulge in a totally fresh experience when I play a game. But, I've been enjoying the theories and speculation that the trailers have spawned so much, it feels like a fair trade-off. The game's not even out and I'm having this much fun with it. I wrote down a bunch of my own predictions and the list was HUGE, so there's definitely still sooo much stuff that we don't know. If anything, the clips they've chosen to show us have just created more questions to fuel our interest. Nice video, btw! -
I personally hope that we won't see the opening CG until the game is released. Receiving it before then feels like sneaking a peek at a Christmas present before Christmas. As far as "too much" goes, that's too much for me. If they really do release it before the game, I'm going to try as hard as I can to avoid watching it. lol I think we'll get more trailers as we approach the release date, but I wouldn't count on seeing more worlds. We've already seen so much. Gotta leave something to the imagination.
