    "I'm sure he just feels bad for her. I mean look at her," Regina said with a malicious laugh, "A guy like Roxas is just too nice to say anything, but you can tell he finds her annoying." Naminé pressed her lips together to keep from crying harder. She couldn't break like that. Not in front of them. But what if they were telling the truth?

    "Excuse me?" Regina scoffed and pointed a finely manicured finger at the pink haired girl, "We're the hottest girls at this school, and I'm pretty sure that Roxas is happy to have us here. Especially when he has to deal with miss stalker over there." She jabbed her finger at Naminé again who flinched in response. "Besides, no one asked of your opinion, Farron." Regina spat her last name out like it was poison.

    Regina flipped her hair back haughtily. Yes, she was intimidated, but she wasn't about to show that. "No problem here. We're all just having a nice little chat, right Nadine?" "It's Naminé," the artist corrected with a sniff; she avoided Lightning's piercing gaze. How pathetic she must look to her friend. Unable to defend herself even against two upperclassmen girls.

    Naminé's eyes darted between the two girls before the tears finally slipped. She tried rubbing them away, but it was like a sudden rainfall. Despite this, she shook her head as she lifted herself to her feet. "No. I won't. I...I can't." They had fought so hard to be together. She wouldn't give in now.

    Naminé watched her drawing be destroyed in horror. Her drawings, especially those she drew for her friends, were special to her. They were doodles more often than not, but they were made as a result of friendship and closeness. Not orders or because she was bound by an oath. "W-What do you want from me?" Naminé asked as she helplessly moved to gather the pieces of the drawing. Regina threw the brown paper lunch bag on the ground and used her stiletto heel to crush the contents--a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, apple, and granola bar. Satisfied by the now flat brown bag, Regina tilted her head and gave Naminé a condescending smile. "Get the picture now?"

    Naminé's eyes grew big and she shook her head. A wall of tears began to build behind her eyes. "That's not true. Roxas. He...cares about me, and I care about him. I'm not obsessed with him." She wasn't. She couldn't be. They just had a history. A bond. "And I appreciate his talent just as much as anyone." Though, in the back her mind, she felt that she likely appreciated it more, given their context as Nobodies. Regina smirked and snatched the paper bag out from Naminé's hands."And what's this?" Regina then pulled out a little pink note. It had Naminé's delicate scrawl and a silly doodle of herself cheering him on. "Looks pretty stalkers if you ask me." She glanced at Alexis with an eyebrow raised.

    "Yeah, we get him first, which means," Regina crowed at the blonde with a sickly sweet smile, "that it's time for you to go away now." Regina brushed her away with a menacing laugh. "Roxas is...he's my friend," Naminé said quietly. Her hands tightened around the paper bag she had brought for him. The paper audibly crinkled. "I won't leave. He's counting on me." Or at least that's what she thought. Naminé didn't understand what was going on with these girls at all and didn't like it. Was this because he could sing?

    "Dibs?"Naminé repeated. The word was foreign to her. "I...don't understand," the blonde confessed. Her eyes searched for Roxas, darting from one end of the stage to another.

    At the sound of her name, Naminé turned around. "Huh? Um...yes" she smiled at the two girls uncertainly. What did they want? She didn't want to assume anything, but the blonde couldn't help but feel uneasy around them.

    "Exactly," Regina agreed. She jerked her head over towards the blonde girl. "Let's give her a little help now, shall we?" This little blonde girl was going to learn who was in charge real quick.

    "Ugh. I can't stand her," Regina said with a scoff, "Desperate much? I don't get why he hangs around her." He should be hanging around her obviously. She was much hotter.

    Finding Roxas the next day proved to be more of a challenge. With the festival only a day away, the practice space had changed. She knew where he would be performing, but outside of the stage, everything seemed to be a cluster. "I wonder where he could be this time," Naminé asked herself with an audible sigh. Regina, having noticed the flaxen haired girl from afar, looked to her cohorts with a snotty curl of the lips. "Look who's back again."

    "Anytime," Naminé said quietly, "and thank you for walking me back to my dorm." She reached for the handle of the dorm door then and pulled it towards her. A rush of air conditioning enveloped her. "I'll...see you tomorrow." She hoped those girls were friendlier then. Maybe there had just been some kind of misunderstanding.

    "I guess this is where we say goodnight," Naminé mused with a teasing smile. She didn't want to leave, but she was sure Kairi would worry if she wasn't back soon. The two girls were often like that with one another.

    "You're welcome," she murmured, still unaccustomed to those two words. As they walked, Naminé thought of her other half. She hoped things worked out with her and Sora. Those two were bound by destiny, but they seemed to always resist it somehow. She then wondered if, now that they were their own people, the same applied to her and Roxas? Were they still bound by destiny?

    Absentmindedly, she leaned into his touch as they walked; the tension created by those girls dissolved. It was probably nothing to worry about anyway. "It's nothing really," Naminé replied with a smile, "Just an extra meal from the cafeteria." Though maybe one of these days she'd make him something herself. Cooking never seemed horribly hard.

    "Of course!" she chirped. There was relief evident in her voice as she said this. She felt the other girls' stares and bit her lip. She would have to ask Kairi if this was normal. Naminé wasn't exactly familiar with the world of college girls. Or people in general really. Regina waved cutely at Roxas, but her eyes hard as she watched Naminé move to his side. The two looked too cozy for her liking. Something would have to be done about that.

    Naminé walked up to him; the other girls moved out of her way grudgingly and watched with annoyance as she presented the singer with a small to-go container. "I thought this looked good today," she commented, "Chicken and mashed potatoes. I brought an extra bottle of water too since I figured you'd probably have drank the rest of your other one." Regina tossed her honey colored hair over her shoulder and offered Naminé a condescending smile. "How sweet of you, but we were all talking about taking Roxas here out to dinner." She gestured to the other girls who nodded behind her. "Oh," Naminé blinked and looked at the to-go box, "I can just put it in the fridge if you want?" She wasn't really sure what to do now? The sense of being unwanted was quite obvious.

    As the festival was drawing closer, Naminé found herself bringing Roxas meals in between his practices. She didn't mind, however. The artist often had a few hours to spare throughout the day, so delivering a few extra meals wasn't much additional effort. Today's meal, chicken and mashed potatoes, was warm in her hands. "Roxas!" she called, seeing the boy up ahead. He was surrounded by a group of girls; Naminé pushed herself to smile regardless.

    "I guess," Sora replied glumly. In his mind, he could still see Noel's hand on Kairi's back. "What if she doesn't want to talk though?" He hadn't exactly been the worlds' best friend. Naminé squeezed his shoulder slightly. "She'll listen to you. She's wanted to talk to you the past few days." Kairi had enjoyed her time with this Noel boy, but Naminé could tell the red head was still putting up a front. Her eyes betrayed her heart's true emotions. "Right. She wouldn't throw our friendship away," Sora said but mostly as a way to reassure himself. He believed what his friends were saying, but the thought of talking to Kairi still scared him. If she rejected his apology, Sora wouldn't know what to do.

    "I didn't want to fight like that," Sora confessed lowly. He hung his head slightly as he remembered what had happened. "But those guys...they were treating her like an object. And she said she liked the attention and ugh, it just made me snap." He clenched his fists but then loosened them again. Why did he do that? Why didn't he just remain calm? Smile. "You should apologize then," Naminé advised gently. She touched his shoulder and smiled. "Kairi will forgive you. You're...special to her." "Right," Riku encouraged, "Kairi and you and me. We've always been able to work through anything." This was just one more hurdle. He believed in Sora.

    "Kairi is...," Naminé spoke slowly, carefully, "doing her best to deal with her pain. What happened with you two; it really hurt her. Noel picked up the pieces but it's--" Naminé abruptly stopped and shook her head. It wasn't her place to say how someone else felt, even if that person was her other.

    "..." Sora remained silent for a moment, but then he sighed. Was there really any use denying it anymore? "I don't know," he finally confessed after a moment. "What can I do? They'll be going to the festival together, and Kairi seems to be...happy." The last word came out softly. Mournfully. He hasn't wanted to admit it. But she was. Without him too.

    "J-Jealous!?" he sputtered, though the word had hit the bullseye perfectly, "I'm not jealous. Kairi and I aren't like that. She's--" "The girl you treasure most," Naminé reminded him with a wry smile. She thought about Castle Oblivion for a brief moment. How she had taken those memories of that very girl--her best friend--and replaced them with herself. How Sora had still, even then, found his way back to her. His most precious person. "Well, but not like...," Sora fumbled for the right words. She was exactly that, right? But Sora wasn't the jealous type. "Exactly like that," Riku poked in the chest. Right where his heart was. "You love Kairi. It's as simple as that." How thick was his best friend really?

    "Oh, and you would have been in my shoes?" the brunet snapped at his other then, crossing his arms, "I was as nice as I could be, but I'm not going to smile when I see him all over Kairi. Grinning like an idiot." Sora wanted to rip Noel's hands off of Kairi. The second he noticed the other boy's hands on her back, Sora had felt both his heart sink and his fury rise. Naminé watched Sora's behavior with a sad smile. He really does love her. His heart is aching to be by her side again. But what can I do? The memories have to stay. The hurt has to heal...
