1) Attack Boost All sucks bc it only triggers on swipe and not on using the special attack. So if you swipe a lot with a certain medal (high gauge cost) I would recommend that 2) I put my defense boosts on my medals that boost strength, because they barely do any damage by themselves, but they're necessary on every key blade in order to do any damage at a high level. Like piglet, iKairi2, etc, anything that you need but won't anticipate doing a lot of damage. 2) I basically only put large Attack boosts on guilted medals since those are the ones that deal massive damage. This is coming from a guy who's F2Pd for ~1 year. I don't have T5s guilted either but I do have a bunch of medals guilted. Also you have like double the number of medals that I do lol.

KHUX 2017: How much have you spent on KHUX
Team Mike replied to Axeken's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I spent $0, like a bunch of other people. I'm not screwed at all. Most of my free to play friends were able to get iKairi2 using just daily gems and event gems (proud quests were a key for me). Thanks to that deal, I've got a bunch of good medals. But the real way F2P players get their damage is through guilt. I've got many medals at 75-100% guilt, because I've been playing for about a year. The deals where you got medals with 3 dots already were vital for me. There were points where I logged in only to get the daily gems, but recently I've been more into it cuz the new content. Generally if you haven't played for a long time like me, you won't be able to compete with paying players, but don't let that discourage you. You can have fun with this game even if you don't pay a penny. -
KHUX [4-20-2017] MASSIVE update on KHUX NA!
Team Mike replied to JackRedplay's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
That Mickey & Brooms thing is pretty cool. I really hope free to play players have decent access to them. Then again I don't neeeed them... -
Traits are really cool, the best one is probs Strength +1000. It's reeeally nice to be able to -20 your medals with Cids, I was annoyed at the fact that I couldn't fit five 6* medals on a blade without buying the built in avatar boards. I've got a bunch of Cids saved up Also strength buffs and defense debuffs. I'm assuming that change was because multiplayer is now a thing, so you don't want your buffs getting wasted if another player uses theirs. Wont have too much of an effect on me, but it's nice for new players who don't have a large selection of medals. Also quick note: my friends and I did a couple pulls of the new iKairi2 deal, and each time we pulled an illustrated medal. This deal gives you sooo much value even if you don't get the new Kairi.

Hey, guys! I was at Anime Boston over the weekend, and I went to the Kingdom Hearts Cosplay Meetup. There was a lot of great cosplay, and they took so many great pictures. Here's the link to the facebook event if you guys want to check them out! https://www.facebook.com/events/1324133314271805/?active_tab=discussion&__xt__=33.%7B%22logging_data%22%3A%7B%22profile_id%22%3A1324133314271805%2C%22event_type%22%3A%22clicked_view_event_posts%22%2C%22impression_info%22%3A%22eyJmIjp7Iml0ZW1fY291bnQiOiIwIn19%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22www_events_permalink%22%2C%22interacted_story_type%22%3A%221058178634193603%22%2C%22session_id%22%3A%225c037068e5adfc71d367ef70bd1aadae%22%7D%7D BTW, you'll need to be logged in to facebook to view them. Someone posted a dropbox link on the event with pictures as well, I can probably post that as well if someone requests it. It was sorta weird that there weren't any Kairis. I was the black coat Riku; I didn't know what to do when they did the "Organization killing Sora" pose lol. Should probably buy a keyblade to go with my costume, too.

Sweet, can't wait for the new volume. As much as everyone hates this volume for being relatively calm, this was necessary. I'm thinking of this as a writer. How else could the creators of RWBY get across the point of character restructuring and everyone coming to terms with everything that happened? What else could these characters even do? They left so broken up and torn apart that adding more fighting scenes than the ones displayed wouldn't really make sense. If they just glazed over this, everyone's characters wouldn't be developed enough. These are real conflicts Blake, Yang, and Weiss had to go through, just about as big as the fighting things. Why devote less time to such sizable conflicts?

I Want To Get Into The Gaming Industry.
Team Mike replied to Kidkillroy1's topic in General Discussion
I didnt graduate yet and besides, I don't think it really matters where. The game design program we have here has been growing as of late, which is pretty nice. Also my college is sorta focused on being prepared for jobs and gaining experience, so it makes sense that we learn this. If you really want the name, I guess I can give it to you but posting it publicly is a bit against my policy. -
I Want To Get Into The Gaming Industry.
Team Mike replied to Kidkillroy1's topic in General Discussion
I'm graduating in about a month with a Computer Science and Game Design combined degree, so I would know about trying to get a job in the game industry. Even though I'm going to be working as a software engineer, I know a bunch of tips and tricks from my fellow students and the Game Dev club that's at my college. First off, just sending resumes doesn't really work. The game design industry is about who you know and not necessarily what you know. So talking to developers physically is super important in getting connections and a job. LinkedIn helps a bit, but the main way you'll contact them is through events. Any con or game showcase is a great opportunity to talk to developers, show them that you're interested in their works and in game design as a whole, and make sure to get their business card, send them an email, and keep in contact with them. Also look and see if there are any developer playtest groups or developer meetups in your area, because those meet more regularly and you can get people to remember you (which is vital). Second, I don't know where you live or where you are, but definitely volunteer at conventions if you can. Some of my friends got grants from my school to volunteer at GDC, where all the big developers are. It's a great chance to connect with more devs. I understand my perspective is from game design / programming and not necessarily from the news perspective. I would definitely ask your professors about the industry (ask your college advisors as well) and about tips to get a job. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask -
I've only been here a couple days and I already can confirm it's a great community. You'll have fun

Who's up for a game of Mafia/Werewolf?
Team Mike replied to Team Mike's topic in Random & Forum Games
Tell all your friends! I'd need 13 or 14 in order to set everything up. This is also a great RP opportunity, considering I'll be giving everyone a character from Organization XIII (your in-game role will in no way be indicated by your character). Obviously you don't have to RP if you don't want to, but I think it'll make everything more fun. I have no objections to people reserving characters -
I recently joined this site, and I've noticed it's got a whole lot of content. But when I saw the 'Forum Games' section, I immediately thought of one of my favorite forum games (and one of my favorite games in general), Mafia/Werewolf. I was disappointed when I didn't see any activity, but I just thought I'd try to set up a game and see who'd be interested. Hopefully we can make these games a semi-regular thing. If you've never heard of the game, here's a description: https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Main_Page So yeah, anyone up to play? We can fit any number of players, but ideally I'd try and fit 13 because you know why I still need to work out the details of how long the 'days' are, how long the 'nights' are, and all that. But that's all dependent on if I can get a game running.

Yeah, health restoration is KEY in a lot of these big boss fights. 5* Minnie is always my preferred choice, but not everyone has that. I'd recommend asking your party if someone can share a health restoration medal.
-
Wow, you've got a lot of good ones. I only have 1 illustrated medal and I've been playing for almost a year. ($0 monetary investment tho) Also keep in mind that regular Strength and type based Strengths are two different things. So you can have 3x Strength AND 3x Power based Strength at the same time, resulting in I think a 2.5 multiplier. You should use 5* Blue Aerith as well as Beauty and the Beast. (5* because its significantly less cost to put on a keyblade).

Good job, dude. The gauge restoration is so nice with that medal, and that camel doesn't give you nearly enough gauge back

IS KINGDOM HEARTS STORY CONFUSING?!
Team Mike replied to xTheOnlyProdigyx's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
(didnt actually watch the video, sorry. I'll get to it tomorrow when its not past midnight) Here's my opinion of the story: although it can fit well together, it is needlessly complicated. And I think the reason is because of the way they developed them. I feel that KH1 was developed without any of the future KH games in mind, and it just showed the story of Sora, Riku, and Kairi. Then KH1 becomes such a great success, and they need to make more games to continue the series. So they just piled the concept of Nobodies onto the storyline. And then they just kept adding more and more on top of the story, and they tried really hard to actually fit it all in. They did a pretty good job with it, but as far as I'm concerned this is the only reason they would write the story this way. If everything was in mind since the beginning, then I think most people wouldn't find it complicated. -
I watched the anime, steins;gate is great. I've got steins;gate 0 (a sequel to steins;gate) sitting on my dresser next to my PS4, I need to start that one lol. If you like the Phoenix Wright games, I'd totally recommend Danganronpa. I'm arguably more into that fandom than Kingdom Hearts
-
Yeah yeah that makes sense. That's basically what I'm getting at, how there are two types of characters: the ones you project yourself onto, and the ones you follow and guide on their journey. (I switched the order on ya sry) My original point is that KHUX uses the first type of character, which makes it weird when they talk, because that makes them the second type of character: the ones who you empathize with. When something happens in-game, the response I expect for the first type is "I feel this", where the second type is "I understand and relate to how you feel". I just had an immersion switch at the point where my avatar started talking lol. Take a look at Animal Crossing, or like any dating sim. If you just played some random character, the connections you made with the characters would be less important than if that was really you making those connections. Counterpoint: I don't know if you've played any of the Danganronpa games, but the main characters are pretty generic so there's really nothing you wouldn't agree with as the player. You get to choose who you interact with, and I think this generic-ness and ability to choose makes these relationships more 'you' oriented than 'main character' oriented (especially because they aren't required). The way your avatar talks in KHUX, sometimes it uses really complex and thought out language that no one could possibly think up on the spot. Maybe that's it... Basically what I think they did for KHUX was that players were so used to playing characters relevant in the story (Sora, Roxas, etc) and they wanted to make the player feel that they were an important character in the KHUX story, because otherwise they'd be just one random keyblade wielder in a crowd of thousands. The game would lose its value and story relevance. And in order to do this, the developers have to make decisions for the players in order to get them to follow a certain storyline and take certain actions in order for them to truly be relevant.

Why do people play this game (oh look I'm winning)

KHUX KHUx: Does your level influence your damage?
Team Mike replied to catmaster0116's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Damage scales reeeally weirdly in this game. You neeeed the Strength boosts to deal damage, and you need the guilt too. Save support medals, I've resorted to basically only using guilted medals near 100%, cuz the others don't do nearly enough damage for me. I keep most of my support medals 5*, like Piglet, Minnie, Bell, Namine. I mainly only use Piglet tho, and I use it on basically every keyblade. Those medal deals that gave you medals preloaded with 3 dots were like my favorite because they gave you easy guilt if you managed to pull two of the same. And yeah the level is really misleading. Back when I was doing the EXP quests when I started out, I didnt challenge the ones higher than my level. But levels of Growth eggs are super misleading because they always deal like 1 damage and they literally cant kill you -
Well, my comparison is to Link in Legend of Zelda. He barely ever speaks, and that's because he's just an avatar that the player uses to go on their own adventure. I wrote a paper on this, so that's why I'm interested in this. Like, I'm sure would be weird if I watched the old LoZ animated series and I watched Link talk for most of the show. It'd give him a personality that might conflict with my impression of him. In games where the main character has a personality (like Final Fantasy XV, Phoenix Wright, etc) it makes sense for them to talk because they're not a player avatar. They're just characters in the game, and you're controlling them. Oh, you're going into game design? That's cool. I took the Computer Science and Game Design route, so I have the programming degree because getting a job in the games industry is really tough unless you know the right people. If you ever have any questions, feel free to let me know. I'll be happy to help! BTW nice avi, RWBY is great. Sun's a pretty funny character.

I did it by randoming into a Xehanort & Vanitas, 6*, boosted, +1000, Atk Boost III Max, Guilted 150%. Like holy I've never seen a more perfect medal The rest of my lineup was Divine Rose +25, 5* Piglet DB1, 6* 100% Marluxia A AB2, 5* Minnie DB1, 6* 73% Jack Skellington AB2, and 6* 100% Hook AB2. I'm honestly using this blade for every quest because my medal setup is just so good lol.

Thanks everyone! From what I've seen so far, Aqua7KH is right about the people

Hey everyone, I'm Team Mike! I was introduced to this website by Aqua7KH, who I met at PAX East. She took our picture cuz my friends and I were cosplaying as Kingdom Hearts characters (Sora, Kairi, Riku, and Roxas). You can probably guess which one I was I've been playing Kingdom Hearts ever since I got the PlayStation. My brother and I 100%d KH1 and KH2. I'm also a semi-avid player of KHUX, although most of our party doesn't play anymore lol. I've managed to guilt a few medals. I never really thought about joining a community based on Kingdom Hearts until Aqua7KH mentioned it, because I'm more involved in other fandoms. Although I haven't played all the games, I'm super excited for KH3, now that I've got a PS4. I really need to do a bunch of research and catch up on what I've missed. I've been involved in some online communities before, mainly Pokemon Showdown. Hopefully I'll remember to check here often.
