KH3 Xbox One Gameplay
Scsigs replied to Scsigs's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Personally, I'm hoping for Prince Noctis & gang from XV. It doesn't sound like Warburton. Plus, I doubt he'd reprise Buzz. He only voiced him in that 90s cartoon spin-off for the character. Tim Allen & his voice doubles have voiced him the rest of the time. It definitely sounds like Allen, but like I said, the pitch is a bit distorted. I mean, listen. https://youtu.be/WFRG1GYh1I8?t=4m31s -
I'm SO excited that I'll be able to play this game on Xbox One later this year. I have an Xbox One X as well, which means that I could potentially play the game in 60FPS with the inevitable Day 1 patch that'll let us alter the framerate so it's uncapped (I don't expect the base consoles to run it, since this is Unreal Engine 4, but if they do, great). The best thing about the demo that people got to play at the event that just happened is that Square didn't only have the Playstation build of the game, but the Xbox build as well. It's a bit surreal to finally see Xbox One buttons on the screen in a Kingdom Hearts game, but most welcome. Thankfully, the folks over at Xbox On have gameplay footage of this build of the game & it looks great. On a side note, I watched a different video &, while it seems that Tim Allen might've come back for Buzz in the Toy Story world (I can't exactly tell because the voice has been altered a bit for some reason for this demo), I don't think Tm Hanks did as Woody.

Fanboys & fangirls. That's why. If anything even remotely upsets them, it MUST be a bad thing, no 'ifs', 'ands,' or 'buts.' "Oh, KH is coming to the PS4? Great! What? It's coming to the Xbox One too!?! HERASY! It's console exclusive to Playstation! What? You say it already came out on Nintendo handhelds, making it multiplatform already? I don't care!" It gets extremely hypocritical to the point where it's extremely pointless to argue with them anymore because they end up repeating all of their same points that do nothing but either argue semantics, or pray on emotions than actual facts. Like I said before, the only actual point I said was even worth for the other guy's argument that I was talking to was the one about the most likely sales figures we can expect for the game. I acknowledge that, since most of the Xbox playerbase hasn't played a KH game before, most likely, it'll be hard to get them to pay for a game that's a sequel in a game series that relies too heavily on its own internal continuity to play it on the story factor alone, but that's where the video reviewers like SomeCallMeJohnny, AntDude, Caddicarus, & the like come in, allowing people to catch up on that stuff with entertaining & informative videos. FFXV, I don't know if that can be a great judge of how KH3 will sell on Xbox One, since FF is a series made specifically for J/ARPG fans, while KH pretty much invented the ARPG genre & are entirely great to play, for the most part, on the gameplay alone. I imagine it'll do better than FFXV, which was one of the more divisive entries in the franchise, whereas people have been waiting for KH3 since 2006. I expect it to do better than FFXV. How much? Can't say, but better.

Truth Behind the KH "Exclusivity Deal"?
Scsigs replied to Scsigs's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
That's what some people I've talked to have theorized. I really hope not, though. I sincerely hope that Square are just waiting to start the process of porting the collections, due to the porting involved changing from PS4 to Xbox One & them not wanting to slow down the KH3 development process. Considering that they probably only need a small team of people to port & play test already completed versions of the games, patches & all, I would've figured that they would've started that process already, but I guess not. Still, I'd love to see an Xbox One trailer for the collections, especially showing off that sweet Xbox One X action. Same with KH3. -
Truth Behind the KH "Exclusivity Deal"?
Scsigs replied to Scsigs's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
My question is, why aren't they doing the same with the collections? They've made back more than their investment in remastering the older games into HD & porting the mobile games to consoles by now. They have nothing to lose by doing so, other than maybe some hardcore fanboys/girls, but who needs them anyways? I think they'd only stand to gain from new ports to a different system, honestly. -
I get that, I do. However, I doin't think many are gonna be stupid enough to go into the games blind. Sure, they wouldn't have the necessary nostalgia or memories of playing the previous games, but with how many video reviews & let's plays are out there, not to mention wiki pages, there's enough material out there that they can easily catch up on the series in no time. Not to mention, I've seen at least one guy tell me he played 1 & 2 through a PS2 emulator too, so there's those people who caught up that way too. I don't think too many people will actively go into the game blind. Even then, I've heard that Nomura is actively trying to prevent continuity lockout. Since this game is gonna feature a LOT of the major players from the past games, he might include small flashbacks & probably journal entries that people can read to catch them up to speed on past events in the series. Maybe he'll include recap exposition dialogue. Why not? I mean, both coupling with the new system & having people who wouldn't have played the past games, it would be the smart thing to do. We've seen this already with flashbacks in 0.2. I just hope he finds a better system to integrate into the game than the text recaps. Maybe doing what I'm saying is what he's gonna do. We'll see later this year. One thing that still confuses me is, what does Square consider for criteria to port games to other systems? Is it sales projections? Requests? Their own personal console biases? Bullshit reasons? That's, honestly, what's confusing me the most. They've been silent on the issue & it's just getting worse by the day. I'm hoping they'll reveal ports at E3 in a month. They can have an English dub trailer at the orchestra thing, then an announcement of ports at E3, maybe with English dub versions of the trailers we've gotten already. That'd be sweet. I just hope they find a reason to release them on Xbox & actually do. I need that KH Xbox fix, man. I already played them on PS4, now time for Xbox One playing.

First of all, thanks to the person who moved this into a better topic. I wasn't sure where it belonged. Second... Yeah. The guy who I was talking to that helped me in posting this thread is clearly an elitist, since he said he believes Xbox to be a worthless platform with no redeeming features, KH "feels wrong" to him & some others he's talked to, he thinks all Xbox players are elitist idiots who only play COD & M-rated games (which, don't most people?), & tells people who're curious about the game that it's only for PS4 because he's a dick & doesn't want to give Xbox users the time of day. I mean, I have my own biases when it comes to these things, but that's just wrong. On top of that, he barely gave me any coherent arguments that hold any kind of weight under scrutiny because they're all based on feelings rather than facts. In fact, he couldn't believe when I told him I talked to some people who went from PS2 to Xbox 360, then stuck around for Xbox One. Those people exist & should be acknowledged, yet he couldn't believe such a thing, saying true KH fans aren't on Xbox & stick with Playstation. What stick is up his ass where he feels he dictates that shit? The only one I kinda agree with him on is that it won't sell as high on Xbox as it will on the PS4 (which would be a fool's bet if you say differently). I still expect the game to do decently well, though. Hopefully well enough that Square ports the collections to the system. FFXV sold over a million nits out of a combined 7 million on all the 2 consoles it was released on. Xbox players don't hate JRPGs like he says, they're just not as into them from what I can tell, or at least some aren't. Microsoft built up an audience of people who mostly play FPS games, racing games, & most other kinds of Western-developed games, but they've never shied away from letting Japanese developers publish games to their consoles. It's just that the Japanese companies don't really market that much to Xbox players. Like, KH3 gets its trailers put on the KH, PS, & Xbox YouTube channels, but they also get put on other channels as well. Square is at least publishing the game to the system, but it feels like a half-hearted gesture from them. Almost like a courtesy. I hate that that's what it feels like. They should be promoting it just as much for Xbox as they are on PS4. Kingdom Hearts has bore broad appeal than FFXV has, due to the Disney characters. Plus, Xbox players that want to play 3 either have played the previous entries on other consoles, or know what's happened. Either way, I don't think a lot of people on Xbox are gonna be stupid to go in blind.
-
So, I've been firmly on the side that it shouldn't matter what consoles the Kingdom Hearts series is on, as long as people can buy & play the games. However, as I'm sure we all have at some point, I keep running into those who claim to be true Kingdom Hearts fans, yet absolutely hate the idea of the series being on Xbox for one reason or another. Reasons I've seen include... Xbox owners not "deserving" the series (which I don't get whatsoever). Xbox owners being elitist bullies who hate on other console families (I think this is someone complaining about the vocal minority of Xbox players who do this. Let's be honest, all console & PC players have this subsection of people who hate the others for little to no reason & love to show their elitism). Switch deserves to have the series more than Xbox (I kinda get this one, but, let's be honest, the Switch wasn't even a thing back when this game was announced, nor could the Wii U have the power to support this game). JRPGs not selling as well on Xbox as other systems (I kinda get this too, since Microsoft built up an audience of FPS & racing game enthusiasts in the 7th generation, while not having other popular first-party IPs, but considering that there's still an audience for JRPGs on the systems, I don't buy this entirely). Xbox not having any history of any KH games (a baseless argument at best, since no KH game has graced a console in its initial release, thus eliminating the chance of the series being on another console family, which I imagine they'd do if KH3 had released almost a decade ago, due to the 360 being the most popular console at the time, especially since they released the FFXIII series on it, much like how a lot of developers are focusing on the PS4 in this generation). Also, Square Enix are really shooting themselves in the foot with not showing the Xbox some love, at least internationally, by porting the HD collections to it before 3 comes out. I doubt Square don't see the value in publishing to the system, otherwise they'd give up on it entirely. Xbox doesn't sell well in Japan. I can kind of see this argument, but it ultimately doesn't mean jack when talking about internationally. Xbox is still a reasonably popular console internationally. Not as popular as the PS4, but considering PS4 sales are starting to dip, & Xbox has better variants of the console out & great additions to the offerings with backwards compatibility & some new exclusives that I think are fun, especially since they're not racing or FPS-related, that have been getting good praise, I imagine Xbox can turn their luck around. Maybe not in Japan, but elsewhere. Plus, Sony aren't really doing much to improve their brand. Exclusive games are good, but if people don't like your brand, then there's a chance for others to catch up to you. I mean, the PS3 actually managed to catch up to the 360 at the end of that generation, but it wasn't the one to buy at the time. And if you notice, a lot of PS4 exclusives are either rereleases of some of the better games they released on the PS3, or sequels to them, a decision that Nintendo would later rip off for the Switch, but Microsoft isn't immune to this, since they have backwards compatibility & some rereleases, but not a lot. Hell, even Square aren't immune to this, with their continual HD ports of Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, & the like. A nonexistent "exclusivity deal" with Sony to have the first 2 main KH games on PS consoles. I've already made a thread & a YouTube video debunking this rumor, since there's nothing backing it up other than hearsay from fanboys & girls who actually believe it without proof. I can give a longer explanation here if need be. And last, but certainly not least, the reasoning that it somehow "feels wrong" for the series to be on Xbox. I can maybe understand this. A lot of KH fanboys & girls have only known this series on Playstation, but the thing about this excuse to hate it becoming multiplat doesn't make any sense for one reason. The series has never not been multiplatform and Square isn't an exclusive company. They've made games that have turned out to be exclusive, but lots of companies have done that. Hell, Square first worked with Nintendo, then went to Sony, but then capitalized on Nintendo's handhelds, worked with Microsoft on some games, or at least released them to their consoles, released games on PC, & have also released phone games. This argument makes absolutely no sense. Then there's the people who argue that the Switch deserves the games, but Xbox doesn't. As I hope I've explained, while I understand, this also doesn't make much sense. Both consoles should get the games. So, yeah, I know there are legitimate complaints towards the Xbox One, but I don't believe the majority of these are really valid, or are at least not entirely valid depending on the position you're on.

Yes, but that doesn't take away from good dialogue. In my opinion, KH2 has the best writing in the franchise. It has good character moments & the overall story is good. COM is bad both in its character writing & its overall story. Sora's adversed to using common sense in the game a good amount of the time when he's not being an idiot hero, emphasis on "idiot", which is NOT his personality from the main games. There's wanting to show different side of characters to tell a good story, then there's changing character personalities arbitrarily to fit your narrative. COM is bad on that front alone. On top of that, it's setup for KH2. It's simultaneously boring, unimportant, important, & insulting, which I can't forgive.

I beg to differ. Chain of Memories' writing is terrible, whether you play it in text for more not. Given Re:COM is the more widely available version, with voice acting for half the dialogue, which I imagine was, for the most part, ported straight from the original game. It's not because it's awkwardly delivered (particularly from Haley Joel Osment & Wayne Allwine), but the storytelling is terrible because of the way the story it tries to tell is told. I can't imagine it was better in the original writeen text form of the original, though at least there, you wouldn't have to deal with poorly-delivered dialogue.

Truth Behind the KH "Exclusivity Deal"?
Scsigs replied to Scsigs's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I mean, getting KH3 on Xbox One IS better than nothing...it's just that Square's shooting themselves in the foot by not releasing the collections as well, even though it wouldn't take too much time or resources, but if the excuse that they wanna focus on KH3 before doing anything else is one that's true, then fine, but I think getting the collections out on the other platforms should be a priority after they're done with KH3 & before Nomura begins fully focusing on the FFVII remake. There would only be optimizing the games for the Xbox One & changing the buttons to be the Xbox One controller's equivalents before they could release them to the public. I just hope that happens by the end of next year, since they could still capitalize on not only the hype around KH, but also on Xbox players that either played the games on the PS2, then went to the 360 in the 7th generation of consoles, then stuck with the family for the 8th gen, & people who've never played the games who'd love to have them on their preferred console. They'd be stupid to just not put them out, since they have nothing to lose by doing so. Even if the collections are gonna be just digital releases for $20-$25 (a reasonable price & goes along with the prices of the PS3 releases), with a limited physical release like the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy last year when those got ported to the Xbox One & PS4. I think that'd be good, if a bit sad. As for the Switch, that'd be good. I mean, so many people bitch about the fact that 3's coming to the Xbox, but not the Switch (which, honestly, shouldn't surprise anyone) that I don't think anyone would mind if ports came out for that system, just as long as they don't leave Xbox out of the loop (I mean, why port to one console, but not the other while you're at it?). -
Saban renewed the contract with Nick for until 2021 months ago. However, I imagine that Hasbro might wither try to break that contract, or add on to it to have the episodes appear other places a lot faster than Saban's been doing.
-
I mean, technically, this IS the Neo Saban Era still, it's just with Hasbro now, since Saban's still involved in the franchise & it's most likely still going to have the Saban Brands logo stuff on it.

It's like, I can understand when he makes fun of a film, or complains about one, that has a very mixed, polarizing, or negative reception & can be seen as legitimately bad, or if he legit doesn't like a film that's seen as good by most people, but if he can't acknowledge when a film he likes can be seen as not that great, or worse, that's when it crosses over into hypocritical territory. It's like, he says, "Lion King was overhyped (I can actually see this one, but it's still a good film), Tarzan's a bad film for being boring & not a proper musical (I disagree, but his decision on that seems to be influenced by an unexplained hatred of Phil Collins), & Toy Story 3's ending is stupid," but the second someone even suggests Frozen isn't good, it's like, "oh no, the songs fit the mood of the scenes & advance the plot, the characters are good, & [insert 3rd thing here because I can't be bothered to think of another one], it's not overhyped or bad." You can fire back with "But, you, literally, called the Lion King overhyped & Frozen copied a lot of its homework," but he won't listen. Doug has the personality type of a hypocrite. Like, I don't like first person shooter games that much (that's partly why I'm on a forum for KH), but I'm not gonna tell people who DO like them to not play them because of my reasons.

Did he talk about the short? I was talking about one of the Adventure Time vlogs, I'm pretty sure. I think it was either that, or one of the Legend of Korra vlogs, or it might've been one of the 'Real Thoughts' videos, I forget which one exactly. I don't even think he talked about the short at all, has he? In any case, I think you get my point here. Yeah, it's oddly hypocritical of him not to understand when people say something's overhyped. I can understand not liking obviously terrible movies (I don't think anyone's singing the praises of Garbage Pail Kids ever), or liking obviously good movies, but not getting that others may nt feel the same is completely boneheaded on his part.

Truth Behind the KH "Exclusivity Deal"?
Scsigs replied to Scsigs's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I see your points. I don't think it's a waste of time to port the big console titles to as many current-gen consoles as possible, though. And, yeah, I don't see an exclusivity deal being the reason they've withheld ports of the collections to the console either, as I think I said already, but to reiterate the point... Personally, I see the Xbox as a viable market to release games on, as long as the word gets out, which I think it has in the last year alone due to the PS4 ports coming out last year. Those are the definitive versions of those games, which they've worked to make them so, & not releasing Xbox ports of them just seems really stupid. I mean, those collections have sold MILLIONS of copies on the PS4 alone, they're that damn popular. Even if it doesn't sell quite as well on the Xbox, I think their investment paid off with the ports with the PS4 collections alone that it's still a financial success. Xbox ports would only help them at this point. I doubt a lot of money & resources would be needed to port them. Some people bring up the touchpad controls (like first person mode, or the stuff for the Dreameaters in DDD) won't be easy to make work on the Xbox One's controller. These people clearly have never seen an Xbox One controller, since they'd know about the select button, or whatever it's called now, that's on the other side of the controller to the start button. In all honesty, they could get creative with it. Kingdom Hearts isn't like Final Fantasy, where those are RPG games for RPG fans. KH is one of the most accessible RPG franchises I've played, with easy-to-get controls, an intriguing story & lore, good characters, great visuals, & whatever else. The only thing that really bogs KH down for me is the fact that it's heavily continuity-driven & the lore is confusing, but it's still a great series to a fault. It also using Final Fantasy & Disney elements without you needing to understand either, I think, helps. The Disney stuff was put into the series, literally, to attract people to the first game anyways, I can't see that not working again for some people. I mean, I remember seeing a commercial back around the time the second game was coming out &, while I never played a game in the series until last year through the HD collections, I was intrigued by what I saw in the commercial. However, I was a Nintendo kid & forgot about the series, so I couldn't have played it anyways. I still wanted to play the games, though. I doubt there aren't other Xbox owners that wouldn't wanna play the games. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. At the very least 2.8 has Dream Drop Distance, which contains entries that describe the plots of the prior games, which they put in to avoid continuity lockout originally. Yeah, he gave absolutely no good reasons for at least 2.8 to have a port for the system. I mean, a constant problem many have brought up in the last few years is that a multi-plat later entry in this series that's HEAVILY continuity-based. There's also a LOT of requests for the collections to come to the system through a mix of fans who want Xbox owners to get their chances to play the series in addition to 3, as well as arguing the logistics problems, like this guy. That guy makes several good arguments & his reasons why are decently solid. Yeah. Don't agree with the "just ignore Xbox One entirely" option, but it IS a stupid decision that they keep dodging the situation at every turn, seemingly holding it off. It seems more like an approach similar to what happened with FFXV, where that game came out in a semi-half finished state, only to be satiated by later DLC & patches to help with that over the next almost 2 years afterwards. I don't wanna wait 2 years for a decision for ports of the collections to my preferred console family. It'd definitely help with sales of 3 to put the prior installments on the Xbox one in some capacity. I wouldn't actually mind if they released the collections after an announcement at E3. Like, if they announce the collections for Xbox One at E3 in June for a July or August release, that'd be cool. It'd certainly give me an actual reason to play through Re:COM again, as well as do better playthroughs of the other games for my YouTube channels. Last-minute is better than never when it comes to these kind of things, so I'd certainly accept it. I mean, if they get the collections out by July, they could be a lot of people's Summer games, since they'd be cheap, convenient, & fun. If they apply Xbox One X upgrades to them, they'd be even more great than they are already on PS4/PS4 Pro. I already had a fun experience with FFXV, so KH won't be much different. They'd, honestly, have to be pretty dead-set against bringing the other games to the system to not do it at this point, especially when they wouldn't have any reasons not to by now. There is no exclusivity deal, it's all down to stubborn stupidity, it seems. Exactly. I want everyone who likes games & has only 1 console to be able to own these games. People wonder why Switch ports of the collections weren't a thing, or even for 3. For 3, they just wanna get the game finished on the 2 platforms they're developing for already before thinking of another one. For the others, the Switch wasn't even released before they came out, so why would they have? The Xbox One has been around slightly longer than the PS4, so they're familiar with the architecture by now. They have very little reason not to make the series officially multi-plat for non-handhelds in this day & age, I doubt doing so wouldn't benefit them at all, even if it was just digital-only or region-specific releases. -
I've been looking for legitimate reasons why Square hasn't ported 1.5, 2.5, & 2.8 to Xbox One yet & are waiting till after KHIII comes out to come to a decision about it. In my opinion, this is completely asinine, since if III comes to the platform, logically, the previous titles should also. Reasons I keep coming across are as follows: 1. They're focusing on KHIII's development. This is mainly for a Switch port of III, but I feel it could be applied to the HD collections as well to an extent. 2. Nomura doesn't believe there's a lot of support outside of North America (in which case, wouldn't just a region-specific or digital-only release to minimize costs suffice?). It also crosses with people believing sales figures of their games on Xbox also play a role, but if that were true, they'd have just dropped the console family entirely by now, especially since Microsoft helped them produce Rise of the Tomb Raider. 3. An exclusivity deal with Sony for the earlier main games (KHI & II) restricting the platforms that the collections can appear on. I keep hearing this from some news outlets & people online, but my search towards an actual answer has turned up fruitless on whether or not this is actually a true thing. So, is there actually, in writing, or an interview, or something, that actually says anything legitimate about an exclusivity deal. What makes this less believable for me is the fact that, outside of the main games, the handheld games are all on Nintendo handhelds, minus BBS. Also, the fact that there's been an Xbox One release since its announcement leaves me to believe this isn't really a thing. I, honestly, think this is hearsay drummed up by some fans somewhere years ago trying to justify to themselves why the series is only on Sony systems without actually thinking through their logic hard enough. Not only that, but with III coming to the system, denying Xbox players the collections is bad, not only because they're stories are things you'll need to know for III, but the games can be really fun, especially KHII. Denying Xbox players the opportunity to play the games outside of buying another console that they're probably not interested in is kinda detrimental tot he series. Nomura has also stated it's a possibility to do in the future. So, is this "exclusivity deal" a real thing that can be backed up with evidence, or not? I legitimately wanna know if anyone can help.

After James Woods & Drake Bell let it slip about their castings & the recordings of the game's dub, it's entirely possible that they told everyone else who recorded to definitely not talk about the spoilers of the plot of the game, including characters not shown in the trailers. We've seen Hades & young Eraqus in some of the trailers already, so we know James Woods was coming back to voice him (because he always does) & it was a while before someone finally got confirmation from Drake Bell that he's young Eraqus, as well as Marluxia. Larxene was recently confirmed too, which was a spoiler not shown in the trailers yet. It's entirely possible Xehanort's bringing back the original Oraginization XIII members before they were defeated & turned back to normal, so whether Vexen or Even will make an appearance, it's entirely possible they're bringing him back, but he's not saying anything due to an NDA. We don't know how secretive Derek Stephen Prince is being here. He could be telling the truth, in which case it's a total missed opportunity not to bring one of the versions of the character back in some capacity, or not give him lines if he is coming back. The KH dubbers like to keep as many of the actors as they can between games, so I doubt they wouldn't get him, considering this is the KH equivalent to the first Avengers movie with bringing together every character that they want/can from previous installments, plus new characters. Anyways, I'm not believing it till I see it. The real question is, does Sarge have lines in the game & did R. Lee Ermey record them before he died?
-
Yep. I mean, I at least ask that people understand the other side, since you don't really have to agree with the other side. I mean, I understand not liking something because it's just plain bad, but if there are legitimate good things about it, I think there should be props given to it. Like, I don't think I could watch much G1 Transformers or TMNT, mostly because I'm used to a higher quality of writing in my cartoons, specifically the ones from the 2000s when I grew up (I also can't stand when 90s kids say they have the best kid's cartoons, since I think my generation reaped the benefits of what they got, since we had a bigger amount of kid's shows that were more mature in their writing than them. I mean, hell, a 90s kid I saw online legit tried to say Avatar was made for his generation, when that's not even remotely true), but I'm not gonna say they're not worth watching if you legitimately like watching them. I mean, those shows laid the groundwork for later, better, show incarnations of their respective franchises. It's only once in a while where a legitimately bad incarnation of a franchise comes out that I'll agree that it's bad. like Teen Titans Go being a terrible reboot of the original show from over a decade ago. I don't know, the hypocrisy of it is what sickens me because with hypocrisy, there's no consistency about the logic used. I found an interesting video just uploaded today & it's interesting how this guy applies his own experiences & thoughts to the topic of the CA fallout. Also, based on the Tamara's Never Seen on TMNT III, it's quite obvious that Doug & Rob are still working for CA, since it was shot at their studio & they were in it.

Yeah. You ever hear the adage of a person playing a certain character for so long that parts of that character's personality becomes part fo that person's in real life? I believe that this slowly happened to Doug over the last 11 years as the NC. Doug carries himself as this good guy who's understanding of other people's thoughts on something. For the most part, I think he does it well, but there are moments where he's oddly hypocritical about some things. Oh, he doesn't likely Pokemon because it was everywhere while he was in college, or over-hyped as it were? That's the same thing as Frozen's hype being through the roof turning people off from it. Personally, I think if Frozen came out in the 90s during the Disney Renaissance, it'd be remembered like Little Mermaid or one of the later films of that era as not bad, but not amazing either. Also, he likes Transformers & TMNT, 2 franchises that ran on merchandising like Pokemon, so it's even more hypocritical that he hates Pokemon for reasons he likes those 2. It's the ultimate in arrogance. The clipless reviews, I think could've worked if maybe they were just editorials or vlogs as the NC like what he did for Transformers 5 with predicting pretty much everything in it based on how predictable Michael Bay is with having those films written & directed. But doing the clipless reviews proper broke one of the cardinal rules of the NC he himself set up in the The Review Must Go On video where he said himself that he wouldn't review anything currently in theaters. I wouldn't even mind if he re-edited those reviews to have some of the sketches, but replace most of them with actual clips from the movie. There's actually a fan that went ahead & did just that & it worked a lot better. Hocus Pocus was just an unfunny sketch that wasn't even worth watching. It was made at a time when they were dealing with copyright problems during 2015. Problem is that it was a 22-year-old movie at the time, so I don't think Disney would've had many problems with them reviewing it. I'm glad that he's relegated the clipless reviews to only the Star Wars reviews, since they really aren't that good. And, yeah, Doug's ultimate problem seems to be his arrogance, callousness, & willful ignorance. He's a hypocrite, an idiot, a douche, all under the guise of being a nice person, which I bet he is, but the other stuff outweighs that at times. Still, he's no Mike Michaud. THAT dude's just a bad person.

I get what you're saying, but here's the thing. Doug's personality leads me to think he's ok working for a company run by an inconsiderate, petty douche rather than actually do the right thing. Rob seems more considerate than Doug, but considering he's a big part of said company, he will probably stick with them in some capacity. He's already gone into lockdown mode on social media, so he doesn't want any of the heat on him. Fair enough, since he isn't as much to blame for things as Mike & Doug, but he still has some stuff to answer to. Doug. Have you actually analyzed the Nostalgia Critic in recent years? Basically, Doug uses the NC as a mouthpiece for his own personal pinions. Sometimes it's fine, but other times, he has things that, honestly come off as condescending or rehash what he's already done as the NC. What I'm talking about is the Hocus Pocus parody. It's not a review no matter what you tell me. It rehashes the "guilty pleasure" message of the Moulin Rouge review in lesser quality. Then there's him telling people, "Frozen's good, understand that" in an editorial talking about hype backlash, which isn't actually what he's talking about because he got it confused with another, similar, trope, not even trying to understand why people actually hate Frozen. Hype may be part of it for some, but there's legitimate reasons to hate the film. By the way, I find it oddly hypocritical that he loves Frozen, yet doesn't really like the Lion King, since they're, basically, the same movie. He even backs up this belief in one of the vlogs that that's his personal belief of why people don't like that film. Then there's the video on whitewashing which was VERY terrible in getting you to understand what he was trying to say. He clearly didn't really research or think through the issue, or the things he wanted to talk about in that video, so it's a waste of time. I don't hate Doug & I want him to come out of this ahead, but I don't think Doug has the necessary self-awareness to do the right thing here, especially since he doesn't apparently like the business angle of it.

I mean, Rob seems to have more business sense than Doug, hence why he was more involved with the company than Doug. He's one of the writers & actors of the NC & is still credited in the into, so, unless it's a legacy credit, I'm doubting he's really left. Doug too. We'll see, but I don't hold too much hope.
