I'm only familiar with the censorship drama and some of the characters, job classes and part of the world, does the gameplay in this entry differ from Bravely Default in any significant way? I remember reading that is was mostly familiar, but that was some time ago... -

He’s able to send this minion throughout the nearby area, about a mile or so, in order to spy and locate particular people… In emergency situations, he’s also able to transform this minion into different weapons, although this damages it, thus limiting its potential for about a day’s time until it’ll be ready to be used again. Job/Position: He’s the prospector, one of the individuals whom locate particular humans, whether they already have particular talents or whether… they will soon. Performance: He plays a mean harmonica during intermissions. Bio: He’s been in the darkwood circus for about a decade now. Thus, if he did have a past, he sure doesn’t remember it now, or at least that’s what he tells people…- 68 replies

What Final Fantasy games have you completed?
cabbage5k2 replied to Sora96's topic in General Discussion
I've only ever completed Final Fantasy X, and I also tried to complete that one 100%, but got bored after about 15 hours of straight grinding. -
A trailer for this game has been released for about a week now. Seems quite good really, although no gameplay has been shown yet. I truly hope they fix the Ai though, as the previous game had truly terrible Ai for the most part, leading you to literally lead the vast majority of the battles by yourself. Still, the game was good regardless of this, with gorgeous graphics, a good story for the most part, interesting characters, decent music (not truly memorable though to be fair), and a vast world that easily equals the size of Ivalice and Dragon Quest VIII's in terms of variety and size. This trailer indicates that, at the very least, the story, world, and graphics will all retain the same quality. This leads to the questions of the characters (trailers aren't the best indicator of this) retain it too, and if the gameplay (the weakest portion of the original) will be improved. There isn't a release date attached to this trailer, though, so much has yet to be seen.

Turn-based\Active-Time Battle systems in RPGs ARE NOT BAD
cabbage5k2 replied to Dio Brando's topic in General Discussion
I don't think anyone's saying that. Jim and others are saying, instead, that there's room for both turn-based and action-based Japanese RPGs. The existence of both Bravely Default, Persona, and SMT and Kingdom Hearts, and the newer Final Fantasy games prove this I feel. These games tend to sell around 500 thousand anyways, regardless of playstyle. -
Don't forget Legend of Dragoon, loved the game, but my god was the voice acting terrible.

@Aqua more or less I was referring to how he earlier became soaked because of the water waves, and was suffering the consequences of that still, although I forgotten that Baymax already took care of that. Still, things work the same . *Floe smiles as the mayor's disposition improved, becoming more cheerful, or at the very least less stern and frustrated. However, they ended up arriving too late for most of the festivities, as the crowd is already dying down and moving towards the cars.* "Hm... that aura from earlier's gone now... eh, I don't think the boy's needed now, what do you say dear? We let the boy run free for the night?" *Floe tilts her head to the left while placing her left palm onto her cheek, a delicate smirk on her lips.* "I don't know honey, the boy's still in trouble you know..." *Daewoo chuckles, lifting his cap up slightly* "The boy is trouble in general. Still, let him prowl the night, he can clean the dishes when he gets home..." *Thomas, to his credit, already begins to head into the crowd, looking back at his parents for a brief moment.* "Ipromisetobebacktomorrowmorningbeforeschool, andpossiblyearlierthanthat. Iwon'tcausetoomuchtrouble,but... yeah, I'll try to be good. Love ya mom, dad, and see youlater!" *Thomas hastily waves as he dashes off into the crowd. His mother waves back gallantly as Daewoo merely nods before turning towards his wife.* "I'm worried..." *Floe places her hand back onto her side as she turns to Daewoo.* "About what...?" "I need to ask the mayor something..." "About what...?" *Daewoo turns back to the mayor, and lowers his cap back downward. Floe merely shakes her head as she clasps her hands into soft fists, not tightening them.* "Would you happen to know if Vincent's in town currently, or Riku, or even Sora for that matter...?"

The final boss theme from the newest Mario and Luigi game (Paper Jam) is pretty great stuff, but I won't link it here, as the game isn't coming to the U.S. until January ;_;

*The trio arrives at the pier, taking their time as they enjoy the beautiful ocean, Floe now cuddling into Daewoo's side while Thomas walks with his hands behind his head, still not thinking about running off... or the fact that someone may bother him about the 101 things he owes them. Instead, he notices how... tense things seem to be, and also how paradoxically relaxed things are as well. Truly nothing is new in Fatefaire, the villains probably won't change much, at least from his point of view. Already, though, most of the villains have found other people to talk to, the usual popular kids, Zephyrus, the Villier kids, etc. Thus he's late, which means, maybe, just maybe, no one will notice him and he can find Dexter in peace. Thomas moves his hands from the back of his head down to his sides, before moving his right hand into a salute across his bow, a comedic looking move, given that he's wearing a felt hat. He sways his head back and forth, looking intently throughout the crowd for Dexter, swiftly finding him, given that he's one of the few people that Thomas has any familiarity. Except... he has a crowd around him... including Zephyrus and the Villier kids, as well as a small girl tugging closely to Zephyrus that he had never seen before, and some other boys he had also never seen before. Perhaps these are the new villain kids that came today.* "Haha! There you are Dex!" *Thomas says this in a soft voice and begins to walk towards him... only to be dragged by his right ear by Floe towards the overworked, underappreciated mayor instead.* "Not today Tommie, you're going with me to help out the poor dear Moogs today. Can't stop running away from your responsibilities forever you know." "Oh come onnnnnn... man..." "Maybe next time you'll tell me where you're going before you ruin another table and fine dinner, won't you Tommie?" *Thomas quickly glances at his mother and sighs. Once again, she won this round.* "Fine fine, let us go." *Floe gives Thomas a quick smile.* "Don't worry, I'll let you run off tonight, as soon as you're done helping the mayor out." *Thomas stops for a moment, looking at his mom with a beaming smile on his face.* "Really?" *Floe nods, relaxing her hold on his ear. Daewoo chuckles at this, the carrot has been successfully placed. He stiffens his hold near immediately after this though, sensing an aura... of what kind though...?* "Hm..." *He looks in the direction of Roxas and company, paying particular attention to a young boy heading towards the car, being led by an older male, probably a brother or close friend, the aura seemingly flowing from him, although he couldn't specify from where it flows.* "Hm..." *Daewoo takes a step towards the car when Floe, looking back at him, coughs gently, trying to redirect his attention.* "Sorry honey, but I promised Moogs that all three of us would be here. I sadly cannot allow you to leave just yet." *Daewoo merely nods to this, looking one last time at the area before looking back at Floe, heading towards her direction.* "... fair enough..." *Floe gives Daewoo a concerned look, knowing he found something... sinister within the area, but swiftly looks back, near bumping into the now frazzled mayor. Thomas scratches the back of his head as he sees him, full knowing that... this isn't going to be fun for him; Daewoo, being fully within his own thoughts at this point, merely gives the mayor an apathetic look. Floe curtsies slightly, flustered at her lateness.* "My deepest apologies for my absence and late arrival sir, been busy finding my son." *She finishes the curtsy and now stands straight.* "I offer my help towards the request you sent us earlier yesterday, alongside that of my son and Daewoo. Is there anything you wish us to do sir?... maybe I can do this for starters... esuna." *A green glow envelops the mayor, curing him of his newfound cold.*

*The ship... is incredibly mundane. Nothing extraordinary, or even interesting on it. No interesting vestiges from exotic locations, no indications of strange new locations, not even a label. Just ordinary wood, and a smattering of people boarding off the boat that Thomas could barely see anyways. Thomas sighs, before shaking Rufus awake, causing the bird to display a perturbed look as it yawns softly.* Well this turned out to be a waste of time. Ran off from home and everything for this, mom's gonna kill me again, and then cast life on me, and then possibly kill me again... ehehehehehehe... *Thomas scratches the back of his head as he chuckles nervously. Best to avoid home for a while yet, dinner's probably not for a while yet anyways, not that Thomas ever knew the time or anything. Perhaps if he would finally buy a watch he'd finally arrive at time to his classes... nah, too boring and responsible. There's still the mystery of the other islands to figure out after all, and time's a wasting by staying on this sandy shore. Rufus, having finally risen, pecks at the sand, gnawing on a few small crabs it captures within its beak, before looking at Thomas with a jubilant glint in its eyes, cawing gladly. Thomas replies with a nod, smiling with a similar tone.* "Well, time to go Rufus!" *Thomas swiftly climbs onto Rufus, as Rufus spreads its wings outward and chirps gleefully.* "Haha, you can say that again bud! Onto... afdjlksajoreuwqoeupqsfahahadhaaaaaaaaaawejw..." *Thomas falls off the chocobo as his body shakes slightly, unable to move his limbs. His father has figured his game out, again. His parents appear, having teleported from a decent distance away, making their appearance smoothly as they continue their walk towards their fatuous son. His mother merely sighs as she gently pets Rufus around his lower neck, mercifully left unparalyzed, chirping sadly towards Thomas as he continues his shaking and nonsensical speech.* "I'm sorry my dear, but it's time to go home, Rufus dear." *She then holds her hand firmly against the same spot she earlier petted, and funnels some magical energy around the bird, causing him to dissipate and vanish swiftly, but painlessly, into his distant pen. Thomas' father then approaches his son, and merely glares at the boy, poking him at his side with his ancient wooden staff a few times.* "Maybe you have to cure the boy after all Floe, I may have overdone it..." "You think! I swear to god honey, you're going to kill Tommie someday! You think you overdone you say, I swear to god, Tommie could have his leg blown off and you'd still say that, unbelievable honey, he's your son you know!" "... soooo, is it..." "Yes, I'll get to it, unbelievable... esuna!" *A burst of green light envelops Thomas' shaking body, causing it to stabilize as it liquidates any electric particles from his body. Thomas' breathing begins to stabilize as he looks at his parents, gulping delicately to avoid it being overly visible to them. He truly has been found... oh dear.* "Thank god you're okay Tommie... may I borrow the staff for a moment honey?" "Sure, why not?" *Floe smiles as Daewoo hands her the staff, merely shrugging before looking upon the crowd. He wonders how mad the mayor will be when they finally arrive, the note did say to come to this... thing after all, at least, Daewoo thinks it did, as Thomas spilled tomato juice all over it as he jumped across the table, leaving in a fit of fancy as he usually does.* "Thank you honey..." {interrupts}"Wait, I can explain..." *Floe begins to smack Thomas with the staff with moderate force* "THOMAS ALEXANDER ROTHBAGGIN! HOW DARE YOU LEAVE THE HOME, LEAVE A MESS EVERYWHERE, AND HAVE THE BLOODY AUDACITY TO NOT TELL ME WHERE YOU'RE GOING! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU TO TELL ME WHERE YOU'RE GOING BEFORE YOU LEAVE! AND EVERYTIME YOU LEAVE A MESS EVERYWHERE AND FORCE YOUR POOR CHOCOBO TO SLAVE YOU AROUND THE PLACE, LEARN TO BLOODY DRIVE ALREADY, OR AT LEAST DO YOUR HOMEWORK ALREADY! YOU CAN'T KEEP FAILING SCHOOL EVERY YEAR, I SWEAR I'M SOMETIMES SURPRISED THAT YOU'RE... haaaaa" *Floe now stops the smacking, having her frustrations out of her system. She swiftly hugs Thomas, causing him to squirm a little.* "Mom..." "I'm... I'm happy you're safe my dearest Tommie... thank the heavens you're okay, I always worry about you you know..." "I know, I know... haaaa, sorry about that mom." "Good. Now come on, we have to go to the bloody pier to get this over with..." "For god's sake honey, be patient for once in your damn life! I finally found Tommie after half a night to running around sobbing, and you just standing their, reading that facking paper of yours! ...fine, I guess we have to... come on Tommie dear, we have to go now." *She gently removes her hug as she helps the poor lad out, still sore from his earlier given bruises. He groans, full knowing that he probably deserves them... but still, why so many, and so hard? Does she not know mercy...?* "Oh wait... Regen." *A light blue flash of light now envelops Thomas, causing his bruises to heal up gradually, reducing his pain and soreness. Thomas scratches the back of his head as he follows his parents, not being stupid enough to flee again, especially with Rufus now banished to his pen again. Poor chocobo, certainly didn't deserve that.* "Hahaaaa... thanks mom." *Thomas freezes for a flash moment, just realizing that he's now approaching the area where everyone is... and he owes half of them money, and a fourth of them favors, including the mayor. And he hasn't been to school for the last three days now. And everyone's literally going to be there, possibly upset at him.* Ah... shiiiitt...
-
*Rufus dashed off, turning into a white blur, heading towards the sandy shore at a decent distance from the pier itself... and that was mostly it. The rest was mostly a similar blur, with Thomas swipping Rufus' beak away, Thomas gathering material scattered from his open satchet as Rufus pecked at the sand, and then the duo starting a fire... or more accurately Thomas starting a fire as Rufus ran around in the water, splashing water everywhere and stopping the incipient fire a few times, much to Thomas' perturbance. However, as soon as the fire finally started, Thomas remembered why he chose this spot. The waves travel smoothly alongside the shores, etching gentle lines within the sands. The sun glazes them delicately, causing a glow the reverates throughout the area, painting it with an orange scheme. Rufus curls up gently within Thomas' lap, yawning vociferously, tired from his adventurous disposition today. Thomas ripostes with his own, before stabbing a marshmallow with a somewhat soggy stick, not necessarily caring about its quality as he roasts it over the fire.* "Hey Dex, you want..." *Thomas drops the stick into the fire, incinerating the marshmallow as he comes to a realization. He, once again, completely abandoned Dexter in a fit of fancy and overzealousness. Thomas facepalms himself as he mumbles to himself, Rufus peaking his head upwards for a moment.* "Ah crap... man is he going to be pissed tomorrow... okay, probably not, but still, I did tell him... but then I... oooooooooooohhhhh, he couldn't follow you Rufus, we go too fast you and I. Hm... well, this ship..." *Thomas then notices the ship coming through the horizon, cutting the orange glow with its razor, vibrant dark brown. Still minute, but with a visible and vibrant presence.* "Ah well, I'll tell him about whenever I see him next. Plus, the entire town's probably at the pier by now, and I owe them all money, and I still have to cut the mayor's yard from that one time... damn that Peter, I swear he was the one that filled those water balloons... gah, been too damn la... busy, yes, too busy for my own good of late. What the... oh come on! Why now, nonononono..." *Thomas crouches down near the fire, picking up the enlightened stick. Unfortunately, the marshmallow drips off, completely blackened from the flame. Thomas defeated, drops the stick into the fire, sighing sadly over his defeat.* "Well, so much for that. Oh well, maybe the ship will actually be interesting... hopefully anyways" *Thomas then gazes at the ship, eagerly awaiting it. After all, without his marshmallow, he has no reason of staying here, besides avoiding people, avoiding questions, avoiding his parents, avoiding Peter, avoiding the mayor...*

Jim Sterling's live tweet podcast of this last year was amazing stuff, but the show itself was a bloody mess. Still... that Nintendo trailer...

"Different worlds? Whoo mate, I'm just talking about finding other islands and stuff here. I still ain't got a job yet after all, and it's not as if there are random heartless or whatever other critters to beat up for money anyways, I won't take candy from a baby contrary to rumors, if that's rumored about me anyways. So how can I afford those Gummi block ships things? I can't, and I don't think sticking a bunch of gummy bears together works. Thus... yeah, this is my best idea without having to get a job. I mean..." {Hears voice as the Charlie brown adult voice}"Oh, he's here now... gr... wait, THE SHIPS WILL BE HERE SOON! Come on Dex, I'll show you what I mean, the ships have to have something on them. RUFUS! Come over here!" *Rufus, to Thomas' misfortune, has ran off deep into the ground, nibbling on whatever grass he could find. Thomas shakes his head, once again, Rufus, however much he loves the bloody chocobo, disappoints him. Thomas concentrates some magic into hand, mumbling about his bloody bird again, not knowing he is loud enough for people around him to hear.* Oh god, he's here... I owe him forty dollars, there's no way I can pay that back anytime soon, that, and he's annoying... "Hey Dex, I'm going to meet you down on the beach, meet me there if you want. Rufus, come on already!" *Thomas begins to dash down to the shore, clearly in a hurry. Rufus, as per usual, is much quicker than Thomas realizes, and grabs his cloak by his beak, Thomas still comically moving his feet as if he's still dashing. Rufus then flips his beak upwards, flipping Thomas over onto its rump in one smooth motion.* "Gack! Give me a warning next time Rufus..." *Thomas straightens out his hat as Rufus goes down the trail.*

I'm not mistaken, the one that came with the Yugi's legendary deck pack is, in fact, the errata'd Dark Magician of Chaos, so I hope it does return.
-
Funnily enough, my little brother already brought that, currently trying to have a more competitive Heroes and Synchron deck, alongside building a Chronomaly one (although that one will take ages to complete). I'll probably buy it sooner or later though, if just to acquire some of the spell and trap cards contained within it. May I ask why the Dark Magician of Chaos is currently forbidden though? Is there some broken combo or something with it?
-
I run a casual Masked Hero and Synchron deck, meaning I just throw in whatever cards I end up either buying or receiving. I haven't truly played this game since the elemental heroes were first introduced, but I am loving the synchro mechanic, so much fun to mess with .

"A cousin huh... most of mine are either long-gone or live... actually, I don't even know haha! Myself... I'm more here to see the ships really. I still hold to the belief that there's something else out there, I mean, I'm mostly crazy and honestly don't know anything about anything... but still, there's has to be something else. Thus, I hold onto the theory that maybe, just maybe there's a hint towards a different island or even country on those ships... that, and no one will notice me going alongside the ships and thus won't pester me. I still owe money to about a third of the school after all, and to about a forth of their parents as well. I ain't got a job, nor do I have money. I haven't even found the mystical money tree yet... the last seed didn't work... bloody a..." *Thomas scratches the back of his head, until his eyes lit up and his tilts his head back subtly.* "Wait... I owe you money also... {underneath his breath}damn it, I swear I owe everyone money these days... {back to vocally}erm... would you accept another delay... even if this is the fifth one in a row...?" *Thomas tilts his hat slightly downwards as he rescratches the back of his head.*
-
"If only I were..." *Thomas takes the hand for a moment, rising upwards and regaining his bearings. A small motley crew is beginning to form, several people running to and fro finding friends or whatever. Thomas merely sighs as he places the felt hat back onto his head, the feathers now scattered throughout the beach, some flowing simultaneously with the wind. The person in front of Thomas is named Dexter, or at least Thomas believes this to be the case. Good guy really, does well in school, talks to people... and really that's it. Dexter and him only shared a few classes after all, and Thomas, for the most part, sleeps through them and then promptly either fails or barely passes the class. Still, Dexter is a good guy, as far as Thomas knows, and thus he usually pesters him after numerous things, mostly rumors and hearsay and all that jazz, alongside bothering him during lunch for free snacks. Thomas is surprised that Dexter even bothered to help him in the first place.* *Thomas pats down the right side of his hat's rim as he returns the friendly grin, relatively surprised that he's not as early as he thought.* "Sup Dex!" *Although Thomas says this, he secretly begins to think. What if Luxanna is around? Mind, he never actually seen the girl before and nor does he bear any feelings towards her, positive or negative, but his father... he isn't as nice. In fact, one can say he can be downright malicious at times. Thus, perhaps he's more worried that she'll find his father than about him having to meet yet another person here. He already found Dexter by complete happenstance, and one person is enough. After all, he already has to deal with his bloody chocobo...*
-
*Thomas and Rufus make it down to the pier, seemingly before anyone else, but one girl seemingly observing the waves of the nearby beach. It truly is a relaxing day, but Thomas rather not have anyone notice him, lest he have to actually involve himself with other people right now. Thus does he whisper into Rufus' right ear as he scratches directly below it.* "Now, there should be a path directly to the..." *Rufus immediately, instead, stares back at Thomas, a mischevious glint in his eye, and begins to move his rump upwards rapidly, trying to shake Thomas off. Thomas, catching on immediately from the countless times this has worked before, grabs Rufus' neck tightly with both of his hands, careful to not choke the chocobo.* "Oh come on already! Why are you doing this, bloody bird..." *Rufus then flips his rump forward while still continuing its upward trajectory, nearly knocking Thomas' felt hat off his head. Foolishly, Thomas removes his hands from the neck in order to grasp his hat on his head. One could swear that a casual smirk could be seen within the chocobo's beak as he glances back towards Thomas. Thomas gulps, full knowing his recent folly. He swiftly tries to re-grasp the chocobo's neck. Too late for that. Rufus jumps upwards as he moves his rump violently upwards and forward, tossing Thomas directly off it, like an unwanted flea. Rufus, as he descends to the ground, unfurls his wings and stretches them outward as he chirps with some vividity, making their presence now known to anyone, at least those who would care. Thomas doesn't descend with that sort of grace, instead falling face first onto the ground with some violence, a visible thud being heard. Thomas groans, raising his right hand with some struggle.* "Morning..." *His hand falls back onto the ground as Rufus begins to move towards the grass, looking intently for some Gyashal to feast upon.*
