  1. Will this be open to new members, or just new characters of those that partook in the previous installment?
  2. ~Terraria~ An icy gale belted across the mountainous highlands, whistling its hollowed, empty tune destined not for the ears of a living soul. As the wind kicked over the jagged slopes, it unfurled the snowy caps, revealing bare patches of gray rock in its wake. With the cool, white blanket whipped up from over the naked sediment, signs of life began stirring upon the mountain sides. Up and down, along the trails and on the sheer rock faces, the ground began to crack. It was as though the mountains themselves were rupturing in the face of Terraria’s nature tremors and quakes. From each set of cracks there came a luminosity; a glow that would, were it nightfall, light the mountains festively. In a sudden, spontaneous instance, the lights along the mountains began shooting upward. It was only a short jump, five or six feet at best, the impression being less of the lights being launched; rather, it was as if the earth was merely spitting them out. Some seemed to pop from the ground like tree sprouts. The further along this processes retained, the more clearly the lights began to resemble a multitude of humanoid forms: bodies, ripping from the soil like newborns from the womb. In droves, the released bodies filed away from the mountain; those that, for some reason, could, took flight; those depraved or unaware of such luxury began to trek down by foot. This process maintained steadily, until but one stirring remained in the works. Near the top of one of the higher peaks, a rumbling of movement shook and broke apart a pile of snow that hadn’t been swept away by the winds. In a slow, labored effort, the being beneath the snow tore its way out from its stone womb. First came a hand, clenched in a fist as it punched through the above the snow. Opening like the claw of a beast it ripped away the layers of powdery drift, which feel firmly into a hole below it, creating a floor upon which the newborn life could stand. Within moments, the mountain played host to a young, female-looking someone. Though underdressed for the harsh climate of the mountain, she remained unfazed by the cold, planting herself comfortably upon her packed mound of snow as she overlooked the landscape around her. A slender hand belonging to the girl reached up, placing itself knowingly on her chest, where it felt the contour of a gemstone firmly embedded within her sternum. This hand joined its partner in front of the girl’s face, where it maintained a long, contemplative gaze into a pair of purple eyes. “Gem,” the girl said. Even as a newborn, intrinsic instinct informed her of her own identity. “Amethyst.” She lowered her hands to her side and peered over the highlands, sighing. “Well that’s great. Everyone else is gone already.” Annoyed, Amethyst rolled her eyes and trudged through the wall of snow, beginning her own descent from the mountain.
  3. My apologies for the hold up. I fell ill a couple of weeks ago and have only recently recovered. Projecting a Tuesday post at the latest.
  4. Getting a post together; my internet has been weird all day.
  5. As I pre plan my opening post, I should ask, what is the process of a Gem being born? And how do they create their bodies?
  6. Name: Amethyst Preferred Name: "Ame" Appearance: In its current state, Amethyst chooses to appear and identify as a youthful female of rather petite proportions. She stands approximately five feet, five inches in height, and would appear to weight roughly one hundred ten pounds. Her physique is not one of much excess of bulk and build, but a small, lean and dexterous one. While muscles remain on the small side, they are particularly visible and smoothly defined. In maintaining her youthful visage, Amethyst's facial outline leans more towards a rounded form, rendering a somewhat infantile expression. This element is accentuated by a wideness in her almond-shaped purple eyes. She chooses to where her hair short, slicked up in front spike, giving her a boyish look. Her preferred color is primarily blonde, but she frequently mixes it with other colors. Her Gemstone is located in her torso, infused just below the sternum. Abilities: "Amethyst Soul;" The Self-Named power of Amethyst relies on 'her' ability to focus the power of her Gemstone throughout the expanse of her constructed body, utilizing it as a means of empowerment and stability in the face of adversity. Through this focus she is able to endow her manifest physique with strength and resilience uncommon of one of her size, reaching phenomenal feats of physicality. This ability may also be usable as a line of defense against powers that would taint Amethyst's physical form from within. Weapon: "Amethyst Aura;" by externalizing the power of Amethyst Soul, Amethyst forges an Aura about herself. The Aura manifests as a visible, purple luminescence that projects from her skin, and prompts her Gemstone to take on a similar glow. The Aura is usable as both an offensive and defensive fixture: it can be applied to the reinforcement of hand-to-hand combat, bolstering an added element to physical strikes or the energy thrown as projectiles; the energy may also be condensed in to shielding elements that lessen impacts, and can block other weapons. Backlash: The excessive use of Amethyst Soul and Amethyst Aura leaves Ame worse for the wear. As Amethyst Soul is applied, it puts strain upon the Gemstone, which is working to feed power to Ame's 'body.' In similar fashion, prolonged use of Amethyst Aura leaves the Gemstone depleted. Amethyst is, thus, effectively capable of "poofing" herself. Backstory: Freshly born by way of Injection, Amethyst came into being amid the Mountains of Terraria. As in artificially grown Gem, Ame is of the predisposition that the survival of the Gem Species through Injection should be paramount to the species. The expense of other lifeforms is necessary and natural happening that must occur in order for the Gems to continue their existence. Fusions: N/A My Favorite Color: Blue
  7. In the absence of Encanto's singing voice to ward them, a screech echoed up the mountain. Ravenously, the stronger (or more foolish) of the Noise that had retreated from the shrine began to double back, resuming their approach upon the shrine. Seeing their superior's in movement, the lesser Noise would also soon resume their march... All of this, if not for an eerily soothing melody emanating from the interior of the shrine, blending in a most fitting manner with the falling droplets striking ground and roof, underscoring the proceeding conversation. The harmonious finger-strumming of a lone lute made exit from the shrine's depth, growing louder as it came into the open. A long, pained screech from the slopes below indicated that the noise were once more on the retreat. The last yelp came just as the performer stepped out from within the shrine. A young man, dressed in a clean-pressed suit, stood calmly within the threshold into the shrine's inner sanctum. Gently swaying with the defined, articulated rhythm of his melody, he removed himself further from the shrine, rooting himself just inside of the overhung roof out of the descending showers. Seamlessly drawing back his dynamic, he, turned slightly in towards the other two genres. "So, another has arrived," Sebastian Frederick remarked, not missing a beat in his performance. "Hopefully she will not be the last to do so." As he spoke, his voice synced desperately to his piece, as though it were all that was keeping him composed. He turned back out, continuing his playing. "Such chaos we live in; such disarray."
  8. I will have Sebastian's intro post up this afternoon.
  9. I think the opening eight beats (assuming quarter notes and quarter note tempo) provide a good setup. Maybe take a closer look at that third measure; the chromatic run feels like it's taking a little bit out of the mood established in the first two measures. The drone over the piano work, to my ears, is really what kills it, and gives it that Lavender Town feel that Psychic mentioned. I'd say, the key to this is really playing off of the line provided in the first two measures.
  10. Beat me to the punch with this one; it's good to know there are others that agree with me on it. Once upon a time, I had actually sketched out maps for stages for something like that. KH would be great material to use for a Dynasty/Samurai Warriors-style game. We've already gotten the Battle of One Thousand Heartless in KH2, So we know that filling the screen with enemies isn't all that difficult. With the newer platforms that are out these days, something of those proportions are definitely within the grasp of the series, especially without necessarily compromising the graphic detail of the environments and characters. And heck, they've gone that way with the Zelda games in Hyrule Warriors; a Kingdom Hearts edition would probably play out comparably in terms of a plotline, though I've always imagined it could be a good backdrop in which to play out a Keyblade War scenario, albeit that would mean it'd have to be canon.
  11. Even youtube is celebrating it. Every video I've watched so far today has had an add for Flux Capacitors; unfortunately, they aren't advertising them for Deloreans, which I'm calling shenanigans on.
  12. I've tacked it onto the bottom of my character sheet, but I'll say it here as well: My favorite song at the moment is Soul Files, by cj rcm.
  13. I have finished filling in Sebastian's character sheet. Now I just need to tap into my inner obsessiveness to play him right.
  14. Thank you all for the warm welcomes.
  15. Needless to say that I'm calling dibs on Baroque. The character is a work in progress; trying something I haven't done too often as far as characterization goes.
