Personally. several female characters have disappointed me in the past. Personality wise, a lot of the characters are far to similar. Larxene i say is the only exception as she plays a heavy contrast to most KH original female characters. I do admit kairi was once an original character. unique and fun and easy to like, but since kh2, all the female cast seemed to mesh into this personality. Aqua barely different as she isn't mopey as much (but she still is). I think it could be a double standard, but it wouldn't hurt to give them a few unique quirks. whats the point of all of them like making charms?

Heart, Body, and Soul. A trinity that create a person. But does it? It seems like body and soul mechanics seems to lose traction to give more focus on the heart. In Kingdom Hearts we were just introduced with just "the heart" and that the heart contains darkness, light, and memories (Halloween town). The main focus on Hearts more on light and darkness. Final Mix showed extra reports about what happens to the Kingdom Hearts: Chain of memories shows us a completely different side to hearts. Memories are taking an important role. We learn that memories can be the driving force of emotions. We also had "replicas", clones of other characters created in order Kingdom Hearts II we learn what happens to the body, and even adds in the "soul" aspect. When one turns into a heartless, the body and soul remain dormant together in the realm of darkness. The body and soul mechanics are fairly simple, the body in order to live must remain with the body. So in turn, death truly does exist in the realm of kingdom hearts, right? Well lets keep going...there are special nobodies that really bend the rules of not just how Nobodies work in general, but how . First is Namine, a character who is made up of nothing at all....she might as well be a "Projection" if anything else, but Roxas is made up Sora's body and soul but had no memories whatsoever. So there are two major questions: What is Namine made up of and what is Sora made up of? In several other forums, it has been accepted in the past that Namine was a projection of Kairi's body/soul, hence still being a "Nobody" but not being complete. However, Sora could perhaps have the exact same situation. Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep shows bodies can be created by darkness. As you see Vanitas can physically create a body for himself (and soul?). THe mechanics seem to work different and it may be due to his heart made of pure darkness (which in essence should be considered a pureblood heartless??) Here's the major problem: the mechanics of "soul and body" seem to be nothing more than terms to give excuse of "Nobodies". (beings that lack hearts). But because the Heart is designed differently now (anything can "grow" a heart if it gains memories). The Heart has been confirmed that will never get destroyed....and seems to not need a body and soul. This is something Nomura really likes to ignore the mechanics of . The body and soul. If heart has no rules. then body and soul have no rules? This is also another problem with how. Here's my theory: Since now Memories seem to play the role of creating hearts (despite everything else in the series not suggesting that, especially in birth by sleep), This leads me to believe that Memories are more than creating "hearts" but "Bodies and soul". Namine physical body is made up of memories (possibly the very few memories of Kairi), in which allowed her to have a body. Roxas is made up of remnant memories of Ventus (while Sora having his real body). This can also be why Namine herself is able to control and create memories of sora, because she is physically made up of memories herself. In order to save the others, Xion's memories will most likely allow her to physicaly be without a body of a replica

i think its a series of small (yet valid) reasons that build up a very strong hate.....A lot of people think that giving her a keyblade will solve the problem. But i think its the fact that she lacks personality, and uniqueness. Kairi is very close to being Aqua (which also lacks any unique personality features)

What happened to Axel's heart?
Ephemera replied to rikunobodyxiii's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
NO.....it hasn't always been a key fundamental of "growing" a heart if growing a heart has never been an official thing, at least when it comes to "Nobodies" beings designed to have no hearts or "missing" hearts. Everything else that "grow" a heart, was more in the sense that they've always had a heart of their own. For example: Repliku, Data-Sora. etc. those were beings with their own circumstances outside breaking the equilibrium of the mechanics of the heart/body/soul. Nomura explained that a heart itself is that hearts hold no "form". And that memories only help it gain a "form". but that doesn't mean for a second that "Memories form (present tense) hearts". After all, Nomura gave clear distinction the difference between hearts and memories. As for your second question, i feel like you're asking the very question that brings the very issue. -

No, there was no hints that you "grow" hearts. It has always been suggested that they've "had" hearts within them, btu the means of obtaining it was never clear. And if you follow everything (even most of dream drop distance) up until Data-Ansem the Wise, its heavily suggested Master ehanort implanted a piece of his heart to grow, but not exactly that the heart would grow on its own from memories. And It is a retcon if you follow the mechanics of a Nobody. -
Robin Hood OR The Jungle Book?
Ephemera replied to SoraDaxjer28's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
I would like to see Jungle Book more, just because we need a valid replacement for Tarzan. Although i can imagine just as much places for Robin Hood world as well. The castle courtyard where they were playing Badminton (potential mini game), The road where the king got robbed. The area where the stampede of Rhino gaurds was going on (forgot the name of the location). ANd the king was hilarious, i would love to see him again. -

"growing" a heart isn't the same as always having one inside them. So no, "Growing" a heart has never been built up. Nobodies having a heart? Yes. its been said multiple times, but for two key characters: Axel and Roxas. Now keep in mind, when Nobodies were introduced, they we were told something completely different. This is what Yen Sid had to say. "If one such as you, Donald, yields to the darkness in their heart, they too will become a Heartless. But you know this. The Heartless are always lurking and ever seeking to capture new hearts. Never let your guard down! Now then...At times, if someone with a strong heart and will---be they evil or good---becomes a Heartless, the empty shell they leave behind begins to act with a will of its own. An empty vessel whose heart has been stolen away... A spirit that goes on even as its body fades from existence---for you see, Nobodies do not truly exist at all. Nobodies may seem to have feelings, but this is a ruse---they only pretend to have hearts. You must not be deceived!" This explanation also coincides with how Lingering Will's act. Despite being just a suit of armor, was able to move. As they begin to have a "will" of their own. But still no heart inside it. Roxas was a clear and easy one to understand. He actually had a heart inside him. It wasn't active, but it was enough to affect his appearance. Another thing to note with Axel he confirms he only feels like he has a heart when he's around Roxas and Sora. "I wanted to see Roxas. He... was the only one I liked... He made me feel... like I had a heart. It's kind of... funny... You make me feel... the same... Kairi's in the castle dungeon. Now go." But "growing" a heart? never been confirmed. -

Although this is a decent theory. i would very much prefer it be officially confirmed. Problem is NOmura doens't confirm that memories are the key aspect to creating a heart. Yes, its the one that gives it "form". But from what we've seen, when heartless get destroyed compared to the ball of light. It can be easy to distinuish what he meant. Still, the mechanic of growing a heart is still foggy. new experiences, new memories. but new emotions? See the ability to just gorw one is completely different. Still.....this idea never sat well with me. And although merging hearts seems to be the "easiest" way to answer it. By from what we know so far. Merging hearts hasn't been done. -

Ephemera replied to The 13th Kenpachi's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Roxas being upset in DDD is a problem with the retcon. You're not understanding that this is the problem. SO if you want to confirm that. Then perhaps the X-blade isn't so bad of a retcon either if we're going to reference the same game. Still, the bigger issue is how the growing of a heart begins. For characters such as Data-anything, Xion (i suppose) and others, they reside within their own rules. Xion isn't a being that wasn't born without a heart. She was a replica designed to have memories. Now they didn't think she would grow a conscious but growing a heart is completely different. My biggest problem with the retcon of growing hearts is the purpose behind it. X-blade retcon is more of trying too hard to not spoil what kh3 is to the point that it looks like a problem. Now, the problem with Sora saving everyone is not the outcome of "needing this for the sake of story". this is because SE made the mistake of making side stories too relevant to the point that they have to give all these characters a happy ending. Terra, Aqua, Ventus are characters that can easily be brought back, and are too relevant. But then there are characters like Namine, Roxas, Axel who are coming back for fandom's sake. While Xion, and Data-Sora are coming back for barely meeting the threshold of relevancy. -

Once again, you fail to see the bigger picture. Terra, Aqua, Ventus are reasonable. Their torment didn't need any "retcon" to do it. They were the original Trio that their lives were ruined by Master Xehanort. Roxas and Namine ended quite well in the series, especially Kingdom Hearts 2. They didn't show a single sign of sadness....they accepted their role and merged back, and "live on" within Sora. Their torment was "retconned". Then we have Xion....who is a character who never needed to exist in the first place and only made the series unnecessarily complicated. Honestly. to me, this is the WORST one. it just makes the seris look that much worst. Ansem the Wisedata relies heavily on how the mechanics of SOra's heart works. -

How can you not see that as an issue? How can Roxas and Sora not merge back? What about Namine and Kairi, they did it. Whats the point of making a reason to bring people back if theres not really a reason. -

So what happens when a normal NObody grows a full-blown heart. how will it be conceivable for the two to be? This is a problem specifically for "Nobodies", not special Nobodies such as Namine (who is only a Nobody in name), Xion and Repliku (who are artificially created, therefore they may have had artificial hearts to begin with), and so on. Axel is a prime example of this. -

Like i said....my points are valid.....the problem still occurs with what can happen. not what we know so far. what we dont know doesn't do much, and i doubt Kingdom Hearts 3 will explain the hypothetical situation when one gains a heart after becoming a normal nobody. The problem here is that this RETCON, indeed causes more questions (plural not singular) that aren't properly being answered. I'm ignoring theories. i'm ignoring what you consider possible to cover up the pandora box that has been opened. -

Top issues i have with picking up Kingdom Hearts 3 1) It will have a Breaking Dawn ending. Since the goal is to make people who are happy and are in torment. Including those who were never really in Torment up until 358/2 Days (Roxas, Xion, Namine). 3) The worlds are clearly trying to not follow the original design. Mount Olympus looks nothing close to the one in the game. That water to me look far too realistic and detracts from me thinking that is an accurate representation of Disney's Hercules. This makes me wary of the worlds i "do" want to see suddenly transformed into something bigger to the point of unrecognizable. 2) I have been wanting to see Worlds such as Treasure Planet (a world where the center of the world is has something precious plus world travel and mentioning of doors), Atlantis (where the heart of the world is whats keeping the place alive, Pocahontas, and Robin Hood. If i dont see at least two of these films in there, i would be upset. 4) Giving too much fanservice, and not enough character development. The series at this point has done plenty of that. 5) Tries to pull of yet another mind-boggling plot twist like it did in Dream Drop Distance. Its for this reason, i prefer renting the game, rather than buying it.

The biggest/worst plot holes /retcons
Ephemera replied to The 13th Kenpachi's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Data-Sora is hardly a major account as he lives within the rules of the Journal. As the journal explained that the "hearts" in the Journal are completely different from the Hearts in the real world. Repliku was still a being that followed the rules of Castle Oblivion. Xion was the exception, but not exactly confirmed that what she had was indeed a "heart". So no, suggesting that people "grow" a heart is completely different. Keep in mind that at this point you are confusing that having a heart, doesn't mean having a conscious or mind. That's what Kingdom Hearts 2 confirmed. The reason why Nobodies can exist is because they came from strong hearts. One of the key evidence of having Hearts isn't personality, but missing something within themselves, one of the key things they were missing was feelings, but it was more to it than that as some reports in 358/2 days continues. The members sought out to gain back what they had lost, and had their own memories already. at that point, they should gain hearts instantly rather than "growing" one. You explained absolutely NOTHING about that situation. Axel should of grown a heart with his new found experience. When defeated, he shouldn't have become "Lea" again, he should've been his own person by then. Special Nobodies or not, Roxas and Namine merged back within Sora and Kairi, and as the ending suggests are no longer "in torment" but because of new information such as 358/2 days and re:coded, they are still in torment. Namine for not being. That is a "retcon". Another Retcon, the problem with how Memories play an integral part of the story as it takes away from one suddenly isn't a problem anymore. Sora couldn't have awaken without Roxas merging back and giving the remaining memories, the same with Xion. those memories were integral to them "being". How Sora had to forget all the real memories in Castle Oblivion because they were linked with the fake ones Namine implanted. This thread is called "the biggest/worst retcons/plot holes" i'm labeling as both. Its obvious i don't like it. But theres more to it than just not liking it or not. Its the fact that it does indeed provide bigger issues. The idea of Nobodies who are specifically designed to not have hearts and being the other half of themselves seems to defeat the purpose. As a retcon, it was designed to make everyone have an unbelievable happy ending. This is equivalent to Twilight's Jacob imprinting on Bella's infant -
Kingdom Hearts and Chain of Memories was considered deep. But since Kh2, the series has become more about rehashing the same thing, and retconning.

That has never been suggested. For example: when are we going to see Repliku? We wont, and the reason why is fairly simple. i don't like it, but its because the biggest plot holes in the series. Nobodies "growing" hearts is a PROBLEM. Axel became a relevant character, but not Lea. Think about the bigger issue here. How will we see all these characters coexist? Also think about how things can come up. Nobodies are beings of Nothing at all. No light, no darkness, no emotions (but can simulate emotions). From what we knew, Nobodies exist by being the Soul and Body. They are what is described as an empty shell. If Memories give "form" to the heart, that would make sense why they can be called empty shells. But the problem occurs when they "Grow" a heart. That means someone can throw their memories over and over until the heart comes. Lets look at Larxene, Demyx and Vexen, clearly these showed the most emotion out of all the members. So they grew their own heart? When they do, and their original heart is freed, then what happens? Will they become twins and coexist? This is a bigger plot hole then people let on. AND like i said before, jst because there's an answer to how its possible, doesn't mean it isn't a plot hole. It still opens up a bigger load of questions. Questiosn no one seems to ask. -

Ephemera replied to The 13th Kenpachi's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
It matters in my book. and if you will disregard it, you will ignore why it is a plot hole in the first place. it creates bigger issues. This allows Ventus, Roxas, and SOra all to exist at the same time all while being three separate people. The problem with that is that what is the point of one claiming to have a body and a soul? THis means every character who has ever existed technically has a heart. And no, i mean "every" character. Organization 13. YOu're missing the point of what makes it a plot hole. Regardless whats confirmed, it creates a bigger issue. -

Before Kingdom Hearts 3D, we knew that memories, although part of what makes up a heart (Haloween town kh1), it has been proven that memories alone wasn't what made up a heart. But the problem is the mechanics of the heart (After Dream Drop distance), before, we knew a heart made up of light, darkness, and darkness and emotions. Which is why unversed were negative emotions and darkness. Up until Dream Drop Distance, now hearts can come out of existence through memories (which means, light, darkness, emotions). but this means any person can "be" just by being created. We've seen multiple times in Organization. This is a problem. anyone can have a heart once born. Even nobodies. which begs the question where can the original heart go? Organization 13, once defeated, what will happen with the original heart or the new heart? Its a plot hole. -

It most certainly is if you see that in KH2 it was confirmed that nobodies can indeed have no heart and still retian memories. its the lack of emotions that was proof that they had no heart. but still, the problem of growing hearts is more like a virus than a proper entity.
