I actually really like the simple designs, though it's a shame the symbols are on the inside of the rings/bangle. I don't understand why they made it like this because this way, you won't really see it when you wear it and jewelry is meant to be worn... Other than that, the prices are rather steep for a simple silver bangle. Then I'd prefer Square's silver necklaces because they're a bit more delicate.

Could be, but it also could have changedn the meantime... I don't know about their contracts unfortunately but there must be a reason which consists of more than "We've got the Star Wars Battlefront games already". I'm not saying it has to be the case, you could be right with everything you say, but there moght be limitations due to rights. For example, depending on who develops the game.
-
It's not confirmed but in an interview regarding the world selection at the beginning of development, he said that both Marvel and Star Wars are franchises which won't be easy to incorporate, not on a technical level but rather to get permission from Disney. It could be because both may have been acquired by Disney but this does not necessarily mean that they have absolute free reign over it. A good example would be that Tarzan no longer is in KH3, despite having them made the movie. But the property of the plot still belongs to someone else. It's hard to know how much ownership they have of certain franchises. While Marvel and SE will have a cooperation in the future, that might be limited to that ID only. But the fact that Nomura explicitly states that it is not easy when he's usually so tight-lipped about the development and process of choosing worlds is not exactly a good sign. Especially because he seems to be a rather large fan of Star Wars himself. Then again, SE likes to change things a lot, so of course we can't be 100% sure it's not going to be in KH3. The probability is lower than with other movies though.

Square Enix's floor plans for E3 2018 have been revealed
Merilly replied to Axeken's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Maybe they'll have their own conference/presentation again like in 2015. I really liked what they did there and this year could actually be worth it because it's also been a while since we last saw FFVIIR. Among other titles, it might be better to have their own instead of just having Sony/Microsoft do their thing. Also because I did not like Sony's press conference last year at all... If you could even call it that since it basically consisted of over an hour of trailers. It was one of the most boring presentations they had had so far. Anyway, I'm pretty excited for E3 and the livestreams which will likely be available again. Though the "sharp, powerful and well-made" comment does not excite me at all, considering a well-made title should be what all developers aim for... Reality may be different, but still. -
Looking at the completion numbers of the worlds, I can't help but think that 2018 is very optimistic. They made considerable progess, no questions asked, but now that the models look a bit better, the lighting is suddenly off and colors are overly saturated. I'm not trying to be overly negative 60-70% and an unknown percentage for the last section appears like they'll have to rush to release it this year.
-
Man, my 2am grammar. *I wouldn't mind if *it's not like they could simply and the first post is missing a 'but' before 60-70%.

Well of course, though to be fair, FFXV isn't all that bad. It could've been worse, like another game that was stuck in Development Hell...Duke Nukem: Forever ring any bells?
Still, I'm not getting myself hyped for KH3. I'm looking forward to it, but I'd prefer to be surprised by what it may have to offer.
-
It was far from bad. What I'm referring to are the immense holes in the plot. Granted, they more or less started over and only had 3 years in the end, but you could definitely see that it could have used some more time so it wouldn't have felt so incomplete. And adding all that stuff later as paid DLC isn't exactly my cup of tea. I see the reason for DLCs and I'm not strictly against them, but I don't like getting story relevant stuff through them.

Wait, what? Am I understanding this correctly? One world will be the size of a whole game? o.O Because a world being the size of one of the worlds in the previous games wouldn't make sense, considering they decided to include fewer Disney worlds than in KH2 because they are massive now. That would mean that KH3 could easily breach the 100 hour mark. Well, if that's the case, my friends and family can bid me farewell at least for a month.
-
I doubt this is true, at least not all of it. Wasn't it said in a recent interview that there would be a second playable character but only within a specific world? I would hardly consider that being a split perspective in a massive game if it's only for the duration of one world. Another thing is that Sora has always been the main playable character in numbered titles and if I remember correctly, that was also touched upon in interviews when it came to other playable characters. It doesn't rule out the possibility for Riku being the second playable character, although my guess is another, but this does sound way too much like DDD.

It's strange that someone would admit that they're still not used to the engine but a release date will be revealed and it's Q3 for now. (For now does not sound confident at all and they're going to reveal a release date anyway?). I'm not claiming this is legit or not but it would make me worried that they're still having problems with the engine but plan to release it anyway. Of course I want to hope for the best but if this is indeed true, that almost screams for a bug-filled game with sub-par models and lighting and unfinished content. As I said, I'd like to be positive but it doesn't sound too good. Another thing which is odd but not entirely impossible: didn't Auron dissolve into Pyreflies in a scene during the credits of KH2? That's not to say he couldn't be brought back again like the first time or that they overlooked it, but why show that scene in KH2 if they had plans to use him again? I appreciate the cameos but those are a lot of characters to introduce out of nowhere into a world which is not FF-based. I'd like to see more FF, but they never really added this many new characters at once. If they would though, I certainly wouldn't mind. Thanks for sharing this!

I actually find it kind of nice that we know it's coming but it's still not there. Apart from having countless other things to do and worry about in my life and nothing being able to compare to actually playing it eventually, I can't help but think it would be great to have the hype last a little longer. During the last months prior to the release of 2.8, there was a lot of information and hype all around the place and I think that will be over once KH3 comes out. Of course KH is said to continue and all, but it might be a few months or even a year or two until we hear anything about the next title, except for KHUX progressing. And there was no real hype about the next game in the series until it was officially announced. That's why I'd like to cherish that for awhile. See a few more reactions from fans when new trailers and other information roll around, play the games again in preparation, analyze new trailers and read a variery of theories based on them. Of course it has been a long wait since the official announcement alone, but now that we're getting close there might be even more information to cause us hype and more frequent, too. It's a nice kind of excitement, although I can also understand people getting impatient.

What's worse than EX medals having no mercy is when they're barred behind VIP quests. What the heck, SENA?
-
At least you know you are guaranteed to get one it only cost $15 not like that's any better..
-
It's worse. First of all, the maximum you can get is 7. Which is not a lot if you have the money. Then you certainly don't want only one unorbed copy but some traits alongside it. And what about the people who saved up for this medal in particular? It's a huge slap in the face, especially since that one wasn't really necessary at all.

KHUX What would you add to/change about UX?
Merilly replied to Jingilator's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
That's actually a nice topic since it doesn't focus on the differences between global and JP but more the general game. Add to: - Something that will never happen but with the expanding pool it would be nice to have a trade option for medals,at least within the party. But they would lose money if they did that <_<. - I'd like to see more diverse events and not only the same things every single week. To be honest, it's getting a little dull to defeat raid boss after raid boss and boss after boss in multiplayer. It's just tedious grinding most of the time, not even much of challenge and I feel like it's just to keep players busy. Why not make more of those quiz style quests they have in JP occasionally? Or something like "defeat only this type of Heartless". Or add at least a few bonus stories to the quests. It doesn't have to plot relevant, just a few nice encounters maybe, the player making friends, etc. - I'd like medals or campaigns which offer specific traits. My trait luck is utterly terrible and borders on being a cosmic joke. It's already hard enough to get certain medals and when you get stuck getting 2x +800HP on Ira (like I was so graciously offered), it feels like a slap in the face. Either make medals similar to Scrooge, I don't know, like a new Yen Sid medal or something, or offer them during special occasions where we, for example, can only get attack traits. - More costumes based on original and FF characters. I think a lot of us want that and it shouldn't be too difficult to add them. Changes: - Change the avatar part layout. I want to be able to equip wings and attach balloons to my behind as I please. It doesn't make sense thwt I can't equip those two when they're clearly fastened on different parts of my avatar. Meanwhile, it is possible to overlay three head ornaments. I'd also like more combination varieties where I can combine the pants of one outfit with another. - Ability to choose the eye color based on preference and not linked to the expression. - Remove the timed quests. It's not because I just hate them but because they're often difficult to handle for people with older phones. I'm frequently lagging when the quests contain a lot of enemies that it's a miracle to make it. - More story quests. I know KHUX will continue beyond KH3 but the pacing is atrocious. The game has been out for over 2 years (even more when you count the original) and we barely know anything at all. Then the title changes often and they always hint there's a difference between the X and Unchained X but never explicitly say what it is. Another thing which bothers me is that the player is so disconnected from the new Union leaders because that plays after the Keyblade War and a lot of what the player experiences happens before. I feel there should be a clearer connection soon or they should have just made the story of the new leaders a separate game for console. - Tier 2 medals should be added to drops from proud quests or something and removed from the draws. Let's be honest, most of them have outlived their purpose and if you pay 15 bucks for one pull or save up a week, it's frustrating to get 9 tier 2s. I already have all of them fully guilted and with tier 4s becoming useless too except for Phil Cups, which there was only one of so far, it's better to add those to the general pool along with the tier 3s. - If medals from JP cannot be used due to some strange copyright issues, they should simply change the image and name of the medal and not lock any access to those medals. Phil Cup was infinitely harder without the tier 3 copycat medals Japan got just becauwe they featured The Nightmare Before Christmas. If there's a problem, JP should either not use medals which could be problematic for global or global needs to change picture and name but still have the same ability. - AB3 and DB3 should become new coliseum rewards. I hardly have uses anymore for skills like AB2 and DB2 except for certain quest objectives and they're clogging my inventory so much that I put some of them on random medals. We already have AB5, why make such a huge deal of distributing AB3 more? - I want to back up my account to Twitter too... I really dislike facebook. - Brain is an issue but it is technically a correct translation. To be honest, I would have also preferred Blaine but maybe there's something SE knows that we don't. Like him having a Nobody with a set name where Blaine would not work out. Don't forget that this was an unofficial translation and there are several possibilities to translate his name. The fans just went with what was a common name. - Please add more original storylines to the Disney World. I really enjoy the movies but having to play them over and over again is really boring. If there's anything else, I'll add that later. For now, that's all. -
So DuckTales medals based on the reboot for KHUX, huh?

I was waiting for a trait reroll medal... but ooh well... it makes me wonder why those medals though...? Duck tales side missions on kh3? Hehe

The only part I think is questionable is that they've supposedly been doing remixes for 2.8 and not being credited. I'm aware that some people involved from SE or Disney may not be mentioned but for an outside company not to be credited... It seems a little odd. It's not unusual for a company to use more unknown artists or even make some sort of contest for certain content, but the lack of credit would make me, if I were an artist, not want to work with SE again.

To be honest, the soundtrack is usually something I'm least worried about in games. Even most games I'd consider mediocre or bad had a decent or good OST. And since Shimomura will be composing most of it, I think it will be amazing as usual. There are so many great composers and I don't think SE has ever settled for anyone mediocre. Since Nomura also seems to be rather critical if the interviews are to be taken seriously, I don't think they'd choose anything which isn't suitable for the environment or atmosphere. Even if I haven't heard much of PHI, I think the outcome will be good. I was more concerned over the fact that the creation of certain assets and models is outsourced to an Indian company I had never heard about before, despite outsourcing being common. Thanks for the news and the translation! I saw it being retweeted with a picture of KH but couldn't really make out what it said, despite trying with Google translate.

Unfortunately I can only see the Carpet Scorpion, but admittedly, I had to laugh a little. Not because the dssign is bad but because the face is rather adorable. Personally, I like the design, although I imagine it would be a frustrating enemy to fight with it being so flat and ability to poison the player. Reminds of how some finishers of a combo wouldn't hit with Aqua when fighting enemies because they were too small and she had that weird upward strike in BBS as the finisher. At least it happened to me at times.

Same here. >_< It's been so long since Big Hero 6 was announced and I think it should be showcased next. We can probably expect a world reveal, too, but I'd finally like to see some actual footage because I'm interested in how they're going to deal with such a huge city. I d also like to see more Disney characters in general like Rapunzel (and how they're going to work with her hair). And I agree whole-heartedly. If we look back the two trailers they were definitely amazing but didn't reveal too much beyond the things we already know or being rather cryptic about it. Mentioning Roxas isn't really a surprise since it was already hinted in 3D that all these people can be saved. Some of the vessels appearing in a world also isn't too surprising. Still, I'm glad we got to see more cutscenes too and hope we'll see more tidbits before release. Nothing too substantial but some basic interactions would be sufficent and lovely because it gives people a feel for the atmosphere. The gameplay is nice and always appreciated since it also shows of the world, but especially story-driven games profit from teasing certain elements and make people eager to find out what's going to happen.

My July release date theory.
Merilly replied to Connected's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
We all know it was going to happen eventually with how much hype KH2 had gotten but that doesn't mean we were waiting for it.Not when all these other games were announced. I've also followed the games for over a decade after all. This is not meant offensively but talking about a game isn't the same as it actually happening since technically, when it was first mentioned, it was nothing more than an idea, not a promise. As he said himself, he didn't know if it would ever become a reality. Similarly, later interviews hinted at games which would come after KH3,stating that Sora would always be the protagonist. But it doesn't mean it is actually going to happen since there wasn't really an announcement. Half-Life 3 also gets continuously talked about but there's no indication we'll ever get it, regardless of there being ideas and several interviews over the years. But unlike Half-Life, KH had several entries in the meantime and especially 3D as a direct sequel could have been named KH3 if they had wanted to. In the end it was good that they didn't since the ending was more of a tease than anything concrete. I just consider it a bit strange to say you waited for it since 2006 because at the time of 2006 you were waiting for a completely different game so to speak. Without BBS and 3D in particular, we wouldn't necessarily have expected such a development. Back in 2006, people had a completely different game in mind as they had after playing 3D. Without those games, the game people allegedly waited for for over 12 years wouldn't exist in that form a s shape. I won't tell people what they should think but my personal opinion on the matter, which is really only just that, is that people cannot wait for a game while continuously getting thrown games which will be needed to understand KH3 and which continuously challenge the expectations people have for it. As I said, then I can also say that I've been waiting insanely long for KH4 because it was hinted that the story continues after 3 for quite awhile now. My main issue with that statement of waiting over a decade is that the statement alone implies that people neglect all the games we received so far which have been building up the story toward KH3. I know that doesn't apply to you or the entirety of the people saying that, perhaps not even half of them, but it is often mentioned alongside comments such as why they're focusing only on spin-offs instead of KH3. But I agree to disagree in this case. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to wait for things which aren't even close to becoming a reality yet or which may not end up being named KH3. Which is why I'm not waiting for Half-Life 3 either. In the end, it's a matter of perspective and mine is that people can only have waited since it was announced in 2013. Or maybe 2012, considering the message in the credits of 3D. -
My July release date theory.
Merilly replied to Connected's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
At the same time, those who need to choose due to money/time restraints may be reliant on Christmas (or birthdays), which would make November/December a fairly good release window. I just think the game could use more time. They only said back when the café was opened that the models still require work and that adjusting them isn't easy and in the beginning of 2017, they also said that they hadn't even started on some of the worlds. That alone seems like a lot of work and I think we can all agree that we want the best possible experience within a reasonable time frame. A months more likely won't make a difference for most of us but can make a huge one for a game. No matter what people are saying, none of us have waited 13 years for the game to release. The game was announced in 2013 so that makes it 5 years in June. Otherwise I'm going to complain in the future that I've been waiting nearly 15 years for KH4, because hey, a game doesn't need to be announced for me to wait for it apparently. And I can completely ignore all the games we received since then, too. Sorry for that sarcasm, but I feel like some fans forget that we got a lot of games in the meantime. Especially FFXV showed that they could have used a year or two more of development, which was also due to the developer switching and them changing a lot of the game in the process, which only gave it a bit over 3 years. The game has been in active development for a bit over three years now since they had to redo a lot when they switched to UE4 in late 2014 and noticeably had to get used to it. That is not a lot of time for such a huge game (from what we were told at least), so making it 4 would probably do the game good in the end. The normal time frame is 3-5 years after all. The last thing I want is that KH3 will be an incomplete collection of bugs which will receive 20% of the story through paid DLCs and with character models that make me cringe and not feel any of the atmosphere at all and the emotions those scenes are supposed to produce. I mean, look at the first model of Terra in 0.2. People were understandably so distracted by the laguhable quality that they couldn't feel any of the sadness Aqua is going through. It should be a worthy end to the Xehanort saga, not a rushed entry meant to finally shut up impatient fans, who will then complain about what it's lacking, not realizing it is them who wanted it without any regard to the people struggling with the engine. (Though it's debatable if some of the outsourcing might be at fault for the model problem. Don't know.) Of course that doesn't mean it should be stuck in development hell for 10 years, but a few more months won't really matter if it improves the experience... -
My July release date theory.
Merilly replied to Connected's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
They never said when KH3 was scheduled to release, just that they had an internal schedule they were hoping to stick to. And 3D isn't a large title in comparison to KH3. That's why July wouldn't be strange for it. But a lot of AAA titles come out in Q4. Not all of them, naturally, but a good batch. Technically, a game can always be released at any point in time (except for Sundays and Holidays), so it's not entirely out of the question, but the promotion for a game that's supposed to come out in 7 months then has been a bit lackluster these past few months. I'm not complaining about what we received, but if they were this certain surely more would have followed at Jump Festa at least. Especially Nomura's comment that 2018 would be the year even with delays makes me think that July is possible, but not set in stone. -
My July release date theory.
Merilly replied to Connected's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Interesting theory. I can't really find any fault with that logic other than that I hope it won't come in July. I'd rather they use ws much time as possible to polish the game. Also, if we assume that D23 will deliver the next batch of information and it won't be a 10 minutes trailer, it seems like a rather small time frame to reveal all the worlds and promote the game seriously. I just feel like we've seen relatively little of the game for it to come so soon. If they were really trying to achieve July 2018, it would have made sense for it to appear at Jump Festa 2017 in my opinion. I also think July is a rather weird time to publish a large game. Sure, summer vacations are starting in a variety of countries but people also go on vacation. Can't really say anything against that theory but sure hope it won't come true. I'm just looking back at 0.2 and what a few more months did for that, although it still had inconsistencies. I also want the game as soon as possible but not because they want to meet some schedule or hint they've given but because it's ready in aspects such as story completion, bug and glitches, gameplay and graphics such as models. -
There is a problem I have with the wording of the interview. If I recall corrrectly, they said Big Hero 6 was the last world they decided on but that does not mean that anything after is out of the question. It was just the last movie that received green light. Technically, they could have also decided on Treasure Planet (if it were to appear) or Tangled last for example because there were problems or reservations with planning, including it in the overall plot, etc, but that would not imply that nothing that was released after could make it into the game. Especially after considering that they also mentioned they had access to movies which were just in the making. I find it a bit hard to interpret that sort of information since we don't know how accurate the translation is or how the implications were meant. That being said, I do not believe Zootopia had much of a chance. If we assume the leak is real, that would already be two transformations. A third one with a reduced number of Disney movies may go a bit overboard since the original plot cannot be driven forward very well in my opinion in a Zootopia world. However, since it was already said in an interview that they would reveal all worlds beforehand since in the age of DLC they could easily add worlds after (which I hope they won't, it might still have a chance as some sort of extra gimmick as DLC. Moana is also a bit problematic since so much of the movie plays on water. The realm of monsters would be a possibility but other than that, most islands appeared to be rather tiny and it could be a bit dull to just play on water on a boat. It worked for TLoZ Windwaker, but for KH... Not too sure.
-
Thank you! I've been following this game for over a decade now, too and I'm glad and sad that the Xehanort saga is coming to end. At least I hope it won't end up like FFXV aeding large portions of story to the game through DLC at a later point to fill the holes. But I'll remain positive. It's really been such a long time and it's such an important part of my life that I hope it manages to live up to most fans' expectations. ^-^ I wish I could go to a large Comic Con but they don't really have such a big convention in my vicinity. But I'm definitely looking forward to the ones I will attend and hopefully they'll be fun as well.
-
I also think trailers only add to the hype. SE in particular is rather good at making trailers without revealing anything concrete. Up until the release of FFXV, I hardly knew what the game was even about except the crystal and a ring. And we had multiple trailers and even more than one demo. Yeah, I'm not worried about trailers spoiling anything substantial. Of course I won't tell people how much they should watch spoilers or how they would like to experience the game, but personally, the amount of footage we got is alright for a game that's said to be massive. I just don't want to see Olympus Coliseum avain in terms of showcasing the world because I feel like we've really seen enough of it at this point in comparison to other worlds.
-
To be honest, I have no idea who he is and don't really want to indulge in that form of popular culture since I don't care about that kind of content. I don't really want to give them the satisfaction of googling it or making a huge deal out of it. It is disrespectful and horrible, yes, but even negative press is the attention those kind of people want and I'm not really willing to provide that and react to it. It won't prevent them from posting such content again, more like it encourages them even more, and the authorities should deal with it. Sometimes, a public outcry is necessary to prevent harm and make people aware of a terrible situation to change a fundamental type of behavior or system for the better. But in this case, I believe it will only serve to grant that person the negative fame he seeks.
