Tainted Blood (An Original RP) Sign-Ups and Discussion.
Vaude replied to Nero Kunivas's topic in Roleplaying
First and foremost, why didest thou post "I'm gonna post in the RP thread later" in the RP thread? That befuddles me, though I shall try to break things down. Rebellion 1 fled an inn where they fought a demoness Teka and won, teleporting out and leaving the woman for dead (Cylar getting inside her head with Sylar-like finesse). Rebellion 2 has currently survived an onslaught from two Imperials, Ariana and Chrysalis and is currently communicating with each other, uniting forces from their previously individual statuses. Ariana lost and suffered from the darkness tanzynite's overuse, but Chrysalis flew off in a lightstorm and with her angelic blood helped restore the darkness fatigue. Rebellion 3 is, as Kunivas said, all over the place, but is getting very intriguing and innovative. All three are good vantage points to jump in. -

Use the iron sword, Witcher! Iron is deadly to fairies. Also, YOU SPOONY BARD! Don't hide like Edward! This is going to be a very interesting, very interesting indeed. I can only hope I can compete with this level of zaniness, so maybe Yltriss should go psycho and slap everybody she can like Korben and Ari did to Peashy. Lastly, somebody call Ghostbusters, please. We have a green blob inhabiting our thread and sliming things up. -

Ah, Yvette and Maurus, two characters I just love to hate and love to love. It's been a good while since I've thought of them, in or outside of my stories, and I thank you immensely for reminding me of them! And yes, we have RP'ed together through Skype and RPoL, whereas I have learned most of my skills from this site, a Nintendo website which has been the home of many a wonderful roleplayer I have come to befriend: nsider2.com/forums. Unfortunately, many have left because of life and the site's being overwhelmed with new faces, but one may still be able to work out an RP with a few goodies over there. Regarding Yltriss, hmm, that makes sense regarding her lacklustre self. I shall make improvements. -

Oh, all right, all right. =P You nudge too hard, MA. I will give Fiora someone with which to rival. Name: Yltriss Hyulli (il-triss hyoo-lee) Age: 194 Gender: Female Race: Elf Side: Empire Appearance: Silver-haired and with a beautiful face, this elfin woman has fooled many with her appearance of an eighteen-year-old and almost two-hundred years of experience, but deep furrows are carved into her that cannot be healed. Scars cross each other visibly on her neck from two attempts of her life, and one can be traced along her cheek. More still lie hidden behind a flowing machine-knit robe that contradicts her elvish nature, and her pointy ears were snipped long ago to be similar to a human's. Two aspects prevent her from naturally looking entirely young, her penetrating and hard green eyes and her long-formed tear troughs, yet with the right touch of make-up she can convince even the most trained eye. Weapon: Stiletto, a thin dagger with the sinister intent to penetrate armour and leave the smallest of death blows. Power Status: Tanzynite User Instigator Chemicals: Rocky Road. Tonics: Marksman, Animal Instinct, Houdini. Bio/History: Born to nomadic elves, Yltriss spent much of her youth learning the ways of foraging, picking the right fights, selling exotic tapestries woven from grass, and using every material in her disposal for some purpose. She knew love and birthed a daughter, but to her terror it was a cambion, a demonic abomination of a stillborn. Learning of this, her husband slew the child, exiled her from the nomadic clan with only the clothes on her back and countless bruises from pelting her with stones. She took shelter in a ramshackle town of fifty and learned to coexist with humans, furthering herself from elfhood. Nightmares still haunt her of her past, augmented by age, and she took medication to quell her anxious nerves, her latest and most addictive trial being tanzynite. Not much else is known of her, but history shows that she took offices and progressed further and further up the political ladder, becoming not only an ally of the Empire but also a powerful influence. She maintains close contact with Emperor Korben and offers much to further her secretive goals and aspirations. Yltriss/Korben /shot -

Bi cyborg samurai ninjas, garb-changing hyperpowered succubi, drab and penniless baronet potionists, love-hate druggies who fight to near-death, children with the capacity and tendency to obliterate towns and robots and perfectly dead corpses, twisted two-hearted generals picked up by slave children, and who knows what else there will be -- all in the same RP. What a world this is, but it is so worthy of crack pairings. I wonder if I should pick up a second character just to continue this zaniness. -
((Sorry; two things. First is that the healing potion was meant for Neena to aid in the magical curative process, though I guess it's down the hatch of Fiora now. Second is that there was no magical instruction, yet I'm sure Rufus would leap at the thought anyways). Just wanted to say that before too much confusion is spread.))

This. THIS! MAKE IT HAPPEN! -
-Rufus Contralto- The middle-aged man was taken aback by Jadis' response and frowned, then was beaming a compassionate smile. This child, an elf child by taking note of his ears and with a quick scan of Rufus' mana sensation, was impressive enough in terms of will, and his desire for action was inspiring, invigorating, really. He took out a handkerchief and unravelled it from around an item. It was a potent healing potion lodged in the confines of the silky, initialed cloth, one of his own concoctions, and he offered it to Fiora. "An elixir to present to the wounded girl, to aid her body to quick wholesomeness, and for this young brave elf I would like to give this"--he held out the kerchief to Jadis with his other hand--"but only for the present, please. It was a gift from my sister, bless her soul to the stars." He closed his eyes and inwardly sighed. He was almost broke and had only the healing potion and his spellsword as valuables, and he gave one away purely for charity, or maybe thanksgiving. Either way, his was a sorry state at the present, but at least he was still armed.

Rufus/Fiora /shot No, seriously, Rufus and Fiora. -
-Rufus Contralto- Rufus, taken aback by the fact that she was not the children's maternal guardian, hung his mouth open with an unfortunately rude stare before bowing again. Chivalric to a fault and being stricken with more than bad eyesight, it was entirely his mistake. "Apologies are in order for this solecism, young miss. I had taken you for older. My poultices were not taken today because I have little funds to purchase the ingredients, should you see my predicament, though with enough supplies or coin I can aid you in your magicks. You look upon a philterer, a potions maker, if you will, but one with an empty purse. Would that I be an alchemist and change wood to iron and tin to gold." He looked upon Jadis and cracked a grin. "I see now that you two are not related. This young impling has more fire than in my arsenal within his soul, and it burns. It is gladdening that I can withstand its heat, though whatever purpose have you for your dislike? And yes, where is your fellow? Back in the hostel, I take it?"

*chuckles*, I agree with Scrap here. This was a great read without a need for backstory. -
-Rufus Contralto- The soothing magics of a healing spell coursed through his body, relieving the tension in his mind and restoring his wounded flesh. His exhaustion of maintaining the ice shield from the nigh infinite blows of the light missiles was still straining, but he remained steadfast and was preparing an attack of his own, well-knit fire tightened by a spell of his own design trapped between his fingers. However, before he could unleash it, the hail of missiles ceased and the girl and Ariana were gone, the child's wailing growing distant. Frustrated yet at the same time relieved, he quelled the spells of both hands, both floodgates reversing and pooling the magic back into him. It was the only advanced technique he had learned over his twenty-four years of hedge wizardry, and he was quite proud of his mastery over it. His interests quickly shifted to the remaining folks around him, Neena, Fiora, and Henry. All seemed quite skilled in the gifts of magic, and strength flowed through each of them in a different way, one in sheer aggression and determination, another in steadfast and quiescent will, and the last he could not tell. His beady eyes squinted towards Henry in distrust, though his familiarity with the resistance and the rebellion drew his interest. Fiora snapped him from his pensive status, healing him again with her remedial spells. "A thousand thanks, milady, but you need not exhaust your efforts on this humble servant's account," he said graciously, smiling up at her, rising to his feet, and giving a half-bow. His smile quickly shifted to a concerned frown. "Your protected nest--are they safe? Did they remain in the doors of that restful hostel?"

Phew, finally have a chance to reply. Regarding the mass devastation thing, I am partly meaning explodinating the world around you . . . omnidirectionally . . . at high speed and low dodgability, but if you guys are fine with this I can adapt. I just need to up my game and augment my character a little more than how I usually roleplay to better match the world and characters. As Yuffie said, most of these folks can murder Rufus to death with his current abilities, and while he has a ways to go maybe an apprenticeship under somebody would be exactly what he needs to enhance his finesse. Thank you for your opinions and thoughts. This has been a most beneficial learning experience about this forum's RP'ing style, and I hope I can adopt it and incorporate it in time to better match the par for the course. -
Tainted Blood (An Original RP) Sign-Ups and Discussion.
Vaude replied to Nero Kunivas's topic in Roleplaying
Hmm, if I may address it, I am a little concerned of a few things, namely time travelling, mindless mass devastation, and multi-pronged assaults (for instance, three attacks in the same post). I tried to ignore these for a little while, but with this many actions varying on several levels of potential gamebreaking I fear that such things may cause the death of or disinterest in an RP. First, time travelling is a tricky thing, a preventive or aggressive action where the first character stops an action before the second character completed it. For instance, George shoots a gun, but Reggie knocks the gun out of George's hands before he can shoot it. This is time travelling, as is when George shoots the gun and Reggie kills George with a knife before or as George shoots the gun. Second, mindless mass devastation is a power, to me, best reserved for superhero tales like X-Men or Heroes, and such in my experience leads to power creep where everything will only get better, stronger, and less draining to everyone involved. Thirdly, multi-pronged assaults take many forms, but simultaneous attacks come to mind here when many actions take place in the same post, oft creating an impossible-to-defend scenario. I would like to ask people's opinions on my concerns. Maybe they are weakly founded, but I have been taught that all three are a no-no in RPs unless limited. -
-Rufus Contralto- Too many things happened at once for Rufus to focus on. The once friends turned to enemies, the evil woman in front of him was wounded by his vicious boreal attack, and a little girl started to scream about her female parental guardian, but when he saw the celestial wings shining forth he instinctively drew back into a defensive position, an action he thought later too craven for his heroic posture earlier. An angel, or a halfbreed at least, to mine eyes. But be she a foe for true? he introspected. His thoughts were confirmed when missiles of light shot forth all around the young lass, destroying all in their wake. They were too fast. His defences were not quick enough to catch all of the light heading in his direction, but he dared a considerably large convex ice shield to cover not only him but Fiora behind him as well. Five missiles managed to penetrate his cumbersome protection before the ice healed its damaged sections, striking him in the forehead, the chest, and his gut, but he pushed through the pain and the mental strain of maintaining his actions. "Quick, pretty lady of many happy youngsters, flyest thou and live to make many more!" he heaved towards the girl behind him before falling to his knee, his legs unsound beneath him. "I shall be bereaved should a lady of your quality be slain by wickedness such as she."

-Rufus Contralto- The grey-seasoned baronet onlooked the battle with a sense of awe, watching the two shift forms and gears. This was beyond his limited capabilities, Rufus being a hedge wizard and a garden mage, but he swallowed the lump in his throat and dared to continue an assault on the slippery dark form of the scientist. Holding out his sword in the air and applying telekinesis to lock it in place, he prepared an enhanced spellcasting. Siphoning magic from the blade, he forged jagged ice crystals which launched towards Ariana conically. The jaggedness, while making the ice more dangerous, slowed their speed a fraction of an amount, but danger and area far outweighed speed in Rufus' account. His breath became partially laboured from his quick reliance on powerful magic, but his concentration did not wither by much. His beady eyes were for the most part fixated on the battle at hand, and his sword arm regained fixture on the blade handle. While it was for a short moment, the newcomers attracted his attention. Fiora attracted his attention especially, the lass leaving behind her children and taking up arms beside him, but Peashy and the powerful-seeming Henry smashed through a wall, naturally arresting some consideration from him. At the very least this man too is on my side, he thought with a mental smile, as he was seemingly friends with the elf in front of him.

Yeah, I thought regular Peashy was beyond annoying and crazy, and then I saw hopped-up Peashy. Now even Rufus feels the thirst for smacking little goddess girls. Then Emmy it shall be! I would love to grow as an RPer alongside you fine folk, and I too look forward to more entwining duels/truels of funnessitude. Oh, and you're quite welcome, and thank you for the commendation as well. Forum roleplaying has been good to me over the course of these few years. A fun sequence of formshifts, I daresay. I have only clung to one at a time with the sole exception of a two-formed halfblood, and even then the shift was very similar to her original modus (a lightning-based style). I think I shall have to experiment with two elements sometime. -

Dang . . . I have no love for the alternation of power garments or shifting forms, but that was a sinister combo technique, Emmy/Disgust/whatever-the-heck-you-call-yourself. There's a ton more I can learn about role-playing here, apparently. And good grief, Space Battleship Yamato. I haven't seen that old show in ages. -
-Rufus Contralto- Too deeply focused on his own goals to hear what was said behind him, Rufus headed ever closer to the battlefield, his left hand tentatively gripping the sword's hilt while the other displayed a glow of pulsating amber. As soon as he entered the battle area, he halted and let fly a menacing firebolt from where he previously was storing power towards Ariana, hoping to take out the calculating scientist without incinerating her opposition. The blaze was concentrated and intense, packing a lot of heat, but like all fire it was mindless and not picky of what it devoured. He readied his blade next, not sure if a soldier would jump out of nowhere to assault him or if Ariana had a few tricks up her sleeve. A chilly sensation numbed his right hand as he wove a spell into the colichemarde's intricate steel structure.

Heyo. Yeah, I think Rufus will play a more neutral character (he is as chaotically neutral as they get), and I have plans to make this roleplay turn the heads of even senior RPers, fufufufufufu. Commence chafing rubbing of hands. Thank you for making him neutral, and I really love the list, as it makes things so-o-o much easier to understand for a newcomer like myself. -
The Pit, a Final Fantasy Combat RP, Sign-ups and Discussion
Vaude replied to Vaude's topic in Roleplaying
Greetings! To be honest, I was hoping for a few more interested blokes, thoguh we can start whenever. I may get rid of the old standards of standings and placement and just unchain things a bit, all for the sake of the roleplay being more fun and less stringent, but time will tell. With all of that said, you two can duke it out to see who will be the superior fighter, or maybe you both would like to double-team against my old champion, Ychera Vencii, the Two-Blooded Battle Maiden, as she's freshly retired. This could be for fun or it could be a 250-coin match where you can upgrade your characters within a single battle.- 22 replies

-Rufus Contralto-A bushy head cropped forth from the window of a nearby inn within Rhasolvich, followed shortly by green, beady eyes and a sharp nose. The scream of a young girl alerted him from his half-baked meal of cheese-and-fowl pie, and while the disturbance outside had attracted his attention before he had not bothered to check out the situation. His bushy head fell back in surprise, his eyes narrowed in agitation, and his nose wrinkled in disgust." 'Zounds, what abominations are wrought by these foul slubberdegullions, and of the royal tyrant's parade they be," he loudly voiced in such archaic language he seemed entirely superfluous, and he was. "Such evils must be arointed, so aroint thee, varlets! Tish, if naught by any other hand, let it be mine!"Frenzious, he let go of the windowsill and flew out the door, leaving blackened, smouldering fingerprints behind him on its surface. His hands, heated with magic, tightened around his sword hilt and scabbard as he entered the street, but they cooled upon sighting the youths protected by an older woman."Do you know anywhere that you two could hide out until everything's clear? I don't want you getting involved in this fight," she (Fiora) said to the children, her voice as angelic to Rufus as her look. Nevertheless, he answered for them."O beauty, hide in this quaint house of rest and food of poor quality along with your children. I have sworn to chivalry and will uphold it by slaying these vanguards of misdeeds!"With that, he started towards the imperial threat, in hopes that his sword and his emblazoned soul would aid in rousting them from the town.
