(I posted this topic here, but I'm not entirely sure if it belongs here, so mods please move it to its appropriate spot if I'm in the wrong.)
So, I guess this is shameless self promotion? Maybe so, but I kinda want to see what other people think of this.
I'm starting a video game stream come tomorrow afternoon, hopefully. I did a test stream today, but it was just a hardware test so everything runs right. Tomorrow will be the official start. My first stream I'll be playing Kingdom Hearts HD. I won't be doing speedruns or anything of that nature. I'm just playing through games normally. The way it's gonna work is that I'll start with Kingdom hearts, the next stream will go to another game (possibly Banjo-Kazooie), stream after that will go on to another game(Games like Mario Kart or Smash Bros Wii U when it comes out), and the next stream will go back to Kingdom Hearts. Rinse and repeat until I complete said games.
So, what's so special about this stream? Well, I'm challenging myself to lose weight. I'm going to post my weight every stream, with the total weight lost and my goal weight. Every ten pounds I lose, I'll share a progress pic.
You see, early last year, I weighed 300 pounds. I drank a two-liter of soda almost daily, and I could down an entire large pizza from Papa Johns by myself. It was a very destructive lifestyle. But, in August 2013, I decided to take the initiative to lose weight. And lose I did. I used the treadmill almost every day. By May 2014, I had dropped to around 225 pounds, a feat I never thought I could accomplish, but I still had much more to lose. But then, something happened: I got a job. Annnnnnd, due to the nature of my job, which exhausts me, especially when I work extra hours, I started turning back to comfort foods to recover from exhausting days of work.
The slope was very slippery, I've gotten back up to 250 pounds, and I don't like that. I've tried over and over again to get back on the horse, but the motivation I had last year is gone.
So, that's why I'm doing this stream, to give myself a kick in the butt and get back to a healthy lifestyle. By posting my weight on stream, I feel it'll motivate me to lose more and more weight. I know this is a non-standard way to get healthy, but what the heck; I love video games, and most weight loss communities out there don't really have video gamers in mind. They'll most likely try to get you off the games, I'll bet. Can't do that with me! I'm a hopeless geek. Also, I don't like gym environments. I have my own treadmill, and I can do strength exercises at home.
And no, this won't be preachy or anything. I'm not gonna be THAT guy who tells people they need to work out. This is just a challenge to myself. If you're a big person and perfectly content with it, then I have no right to tell you that you need to change.
So, yeah, that's it. Mainly I want to hear what people think of this, whether it's a good idea or a bad idea or whatever. I'm open to advice or ideas as well!
(If anyone actually decides to watch a stream of mine, I apologize in advance for the sound of my voice. It's a nerdy voice and a southern accent fused together. It's kinda bad. >-> )
