On a distant planet, there's a race of aliens called Akians. The Akians live just like we do, with advanced societies and technology. They are the same as us biologically as well, physically their race and ours are identical. The only difference is that they are able to command one of four elements, Earth, Wind, Fire, Water. The elements form bands, or collections of akians with the same elements. The Akians have lived in parallel to the people of earth for as long as the universe has been. This race has been at war with another, the Targans, for around twenty years now. When the invasions began, the Akains sent some of their young to earth to be safe. Those children never new of their heritage, but are now starting to learn of their powers. Their silent guardian, Damian, has kept watch from a distance, watching the kids grow, keeping them out of trouble as best they could, waiting for the time they would be old enough to learn of their kind. That time has come. Damian - Damain sipped his coffee. He looked down at the paper and saw an article about two pages in titled "Power outage across three city blocks on thursday, police are lost." Hoo boy. He read on. "Last thursday, the police were barraged with phone calls from panicked citizens when all the power went out across three city blocks with no warning. The police investigated, to find a pole supporting a power line bent ninety degrees over a large dumpster, with the lines splitting and launching sparks. No one know how the dumpster got there, but a city engineer tasked with assessing the damage had this to say 'we really dont know what could have happened here. The angle at which the pole is bent suggests the dumpster was thrown by some immense force, but we cant figure out what could have launched it.' The police urge anyone " damian stopped reading. He sighed. He couldnt put it off much longer, these kids were gonna level the city if they didnt learn to control their powers. He made up his mind. Today was the day they would finally know. He stood up and pondered who to talk to first. But he had another thought. He sat back down. They would know after he finished his coffee.

As Dev crept through the wilderness, he kept a tight grip on his staff. He didnt know what he was expecting, but from what he saw on the news, those affected by the disease would be very violent. He periodically switched between jogging and tip-toeing, when he was running he was worried he was making too much noise, and when he was walking he was worried he wouldn't make it to his house before the disease did. At one point he got in his own head a bit, and started to worry about his parents. He didnt know why his dad wouldnt pick up, or why he hadnt called him back yet. Had he gotten infected? No. He didnt want to think about that. He pushed the thought out of his head just in time to hear some brush rustle. He whipped around to face the sound and held his staff with both hands. He started scanning the wilderness, but he didnt know what he was looking for. and then all of a sudden, something lunged out from the fauna almost faster that he could react. With his palms down in staff stance he was able to hook strike fast enough to knock the thing off its path to his face, and sent it hurdling behind him. He spun around to see the creature rolling on its sides, twisting its body. Once it could contort its feet under it, it popped up and Dev could see what it was. It was a person, or android, he couldnt tell yet. Its eyes were just black. it looked into devs eyes, arms hanging at its sides. It started to charge, but dev was ready this time. When the creature lunged this time, dev crouched and thrust the point of his staff into the persons torso. It propelled the person over his head, and dev stopped and looked at it. This time the monster stayed down, and so Dev cautiously approached it. when he got close he could see the point of his staff had stabbed into the things chest and revealed the circutry of an android. He didnt know what to do, should he run? he didnt know what the thing would do next. what if the disease only inspired fits of violence and the ting would be docile enough that dev could ask it some questions? he hadnt even been thinking twenty seconds when the black eyes shot open again and the android donkey kicked him in the gut. It knocked dev onto his back and the android was on top of him in moments. He got his bo in its way, and as the android pulled his arm back to grab at devs throat, he could use the side of the staff the monster let go of, and toss it off of him. he got up and the image of the monster, its black eyes full of death, grabbing at him was still fresh as he went on the offensive. The monster stood up to fight him, but Dev thrust his Bo right in the creature's gut, knocked it back down and reeled back with his bo above his head. He looked the android in the eyes once more as he swung down with all his strength and severed the creatures head from its body. He staggered back and sat against a tree to catch his breath. As the adrenaline left his body, he looked at the monster as sparks flew from the severed connections in its neck. He just killed someone. Jesus christ. he thought is this what its going to be like? He tried to come to grips with this while he sat and caught his breath.

so, how exaclty do you want us to handle encountering the infected? i was writing a post and i realized we dont really know much about them. do you want to tell us yourself, or should we post our character seeing one, and you post a response as the infected, or something else? i was trying to figure out what to post next, and i thought a fight in the woods could be fun, but then i realized i hadnt seen how you want that to be handled.

Dev sat back and took a bite out of his muffin. The words in his textbook were starting to blur. He needed to take a break, let his eyes readjust. As he took a sip of his tea, he glanced at the tv visible from his table at the cafe he was studying in. There was a news alert playing on the station that was running sitcom reruns last time he looked. From what he could gather, there was an explosion at laboratory nearby and an outbreak of a disease called "Insanity" was spreading. People were being advised to evacuate the immediate area and seek someplace called "sanctuary", but Devin couldn't find any information on this place from the news alert. He tossed his book into his pack and started making his way back to his apartment. He didn't know where to go, but away from here was a good start. His parents lived far enough away that he should have at least a few days to scrounge up some information on what move to make next. Once he was back in his apartment he tossed the essentials in a duffle bag, grabbed his Bo staff, and headed to the bus stop to see if they were still running. He didnt like the idea of being so close to others with an infectious disease on the loose, but he needed to get out. Once he got there though, the routes were closed. Shoot. He needed a new plan. He pulled out his phone and dialed his dad. No answer. "Uh, hey dad, im sure you've heard about the explosion thing, umm, christ, uhh.... i guess ill be heading north from school towards home on foot to get out of here. Call me back when you get this and ill tell you how far ive gotten, id appreciate a ride. Love you. Stay safe." He put his phone in his pocket started off. It would be a long walk. He stopped at a corner store to buy some food and water, and got moving.

Due to the akians natual farming skills, Akia has always been a planet rich with resources. Many races have sent delegates to the Akians looking to negotiate a deal for resources, and some have been successful, but one race, the Targans, did not negotiate. The Targans are a race of human-like bipedal mantis creatures. They are an incredibly militaristic race, and came to Akia looking to take the Akians resources by force. Ultimately, the Akains were able to repel the Targans, but not without loosing good men and women. The leaders of the government called in their best aquatic and earthen tacticians and began developing strategies for the inevitable return of the Targans, and by the time the Targans returned, the Akians were prepared. They fought on a level the Targans were not prepared for, and this time it was the Akians that took the victory. But the Targans did not give up, and thus war has been raging for almost twenty five years. About three years after the first invasions of the Targans, the Akians decided to send some young to a distant planet to be safe from the war. They decided to send children too young to fully understand the full capabilities of their race so that they would not expose themselves before the time came. They decided to send them to a planet that had not yet learned of the existence of other races, a planet called Earth. The children were gathered up during a lull in the fighting, and put on ships to earth. These children were delivered to an Akian scholar studying on earth at the time, who was chosen to watch the children until they returned to their home. His name was Damian, and he took the children to various orphanages. This was almost twenty years ago, and these children are just beginning to come of age. Bands - Earth: Those who command the earth are apart of the Earthen band, and they have long been the most aggressive faction. The earthen band makes up a large part of the military force on Akia. The earthen men and women who dont join the military are the smiths and armor crafters of the planet. Water: Thsoe with dominion of the water are the Aquatic band. They tend to be the intellectuals of Akia, many scholars are Aquatic, as well as governmental figures and teachers. Flames: The Band of Flames are the artisans of the planet, crafting the finest luxury items on all of Akia. The flames are also the chefs of the planet, some claim is due to the fact that in early times they could light the fires easier than the other factions. Winds: The band of Wind is the least homogenized. No one knows why this is the case. Winds do tend to work in very front -facing positions, like doctors and entertainers. They also often work along side the flames as artisans, and so some other factions think the Winds all desire public approval, and the flames think the winds have a secret plan to undermine them, but no one has come up with a good reason as to why the band of Winds are the way they are. - Sign Ups - Name: Band: Appearance: Age(18-22 plz): Bio: Personality: - Rules - Standard stuff. Nothing extremely vulgar, light swearing acceptable but heavy profanity is not, don't mess with other people's characters, and so on. You can read the official rules thread for more details, but you can always message me to ask about something specific. Have fun!~ Example sheet Name: Damian seken Band: The aquatic band Appearance: Tall and stocky build, with a messy pile of brown hair on his head. Blue eyes, typical of the aquatic band. (pictures are good, but i couldnt find one i liked for him) Age: 52, although people think he’s 44. Bio: Damian has always been a kind and compassionate person, albeit quite timid. Throughout school he was a shy kid, preferring books to his peers, and by the time he had finished the Akian education process he stood amongst the other great akain intellectuals. He was the leader in interpersonal relations on Akia, and server as the governmental mediator 2 years after his graduation. In his mid-twenties, he decided to give up his prestigious position within the government and go learn about the people of earth. The idea of being unnoticed appealed to him as he was used to it from his childhood, and he loved to learn, so he decided living on earth to learn about them was a perfect fit. He had been on earth for almost ten years when the Targans invaded his home planet. He wanted to return home, but he feared he wouldn't be of any use. Sure, he knew Tai Chi, but he was no fighter. He remained on earth, but kept up to date with the war through his friends back home. When the Akian government were deciding where to send the young ones, Damian felt he could finally be of use. He notified the government that the people of earth knew nothing of the existence of ‘aliens’ (the Akains do not have this term), and that the kids could blend in here. In addition, provided they did not send too many young ones, which they assured him they would not, he could get them to care facilities not to far from him, and he could watch over them. The government contacted those who were apart of it while he was a mediary, and they assured the leaders that Damian was trustworthy and capable, and so they assigned Damian the task of looking after the kids on earth. Once they arrived, he took them to different orphanages all around the large city where he lived, and waited. Sooner or later they were all adopted by some miracle, and monitored them from a distance until they came of age. Tl;Dr: Damian is an Aquatic scholar who was living on earth during the first invasion, and therefore became the kids’ guardian.

He sat down across from him. "let me know if something fells wrong, but your arm should feel better soon."

i mean, if you and shard are gonna comb through the old thread it would probably be really easy to collect a bunch of info for the wiki. and its dosent really matter, but a new thread would probably be the easiest solution, although then we wouldnt be able to reference old posts. -

This motivated Devin, and by the time he was in high school, he was taking classes in computer science and robotics to pursue his dream of becoming a robotic scientist, in the hopes of improving the capabilities of androids and advancing society. Late in his high school experience he took up Bo Staff fighting as a way to vent his frustrations and build his confidence. this allowed him to branch out some socially. Ken munched on the toast, and said "No, i dont think they'll come out this far. They probably looked around the area where we got out and then told the sentries to watch for us, but i dont think they'd keep up the search for this long. I think were safe." He shoved the last bit of toast in his mouth and washed the peanut butter down with a swig of water. "Here, you must be thirsty." He held the canteen out to Ani.
