if you make a magic build it starts out fine, then you hit a damage cap
-
so you need to restart and make a strength build
-
so if you make that build, you are essentially level 1 power but with all the downsides of level scaling formulas working against you
-
at level 50 it takes 13 points of agility to increase accuracy by 1%
-
fun fact, these stat formulas in nocturne are so broken that they do close to nothing
-
you might go agility / luck for high speed, high accuracy, and high crit chance with low chance to be crit yourself
-
lets say you like fast characters who deal spike damage
-
the game is much less than the sum of its parts unless you know what you are doing already
-
Nocturne is one of those games where it has a great gaming experience in it, but it actively tries to stop you from having it
-
SMT4 starts off with an incredibly hard tutorial dungeon but then gets much easier
-
oh i havent tried 3ds version
-
DDS1 and 2 are like one game btw though 2 has much MUCH more refined combat and balance
-
SJ is really not, but some players really enjoy its etrian oddysey style gameplay so it doesnt grate on them
-
and the later dungeons are much more mazelike and interconnected DDS and SMT4 are the most welcoming
-
DDS1 dungeons are actually really cool, but the first 2 or 3 are pretty standard the dungeons open up more later as well though with new areas and bosses
-
that take a few hours to get through
-
the final dungeons though are your classic giant SMT teleporter maze towers
-
it's like a bridge game for FF players to get into SMT
-
it just starts linear
-
smt4 goes quite light on it, and nocturne is a mid ground where it starts slow and ramps up throughout the game but it also layers unique puzzle mechanics specific to the dungeon you're in
-
SMT4 falls short in dungeon design unfortunately if SMT5 had nocturne's dungeon and puzzle style with SMT4 everything else (and SMT4A Combat) it would be perfect
-
it can be pretty crazy before then as well but not to the same level as SJ, because there is more logic behind the layout of the nocturne dungeons
-
nocturne only really gets like that in the 2 endgame dungeons
