  1. I wouldn't want any of them left out to see what could be done with the graphics for it, but if I had to choose, it would probably be Traverse Town. It's not really the most interesting of the original worlds anyway. And the Land of Departure and the Keyblade Graveyard are pretty much guaranteed to show up.
  2. I think we don't have to worry about the Xbox One version being cancelled for all regions, just Japan. I mean, the console is not doing well in Japan at all. If it were cancelled, it probably be for pragmatic reasoning, after all.
  3. Costa Del Sol. I like the idea of owning a beach house that I'm not even gonna bother with for the most part. And the Golden Saucer of course. But really, I can't think of much. I'm just happy for it in general. Need more news to get a solid idea.
  4. It's rather difficult, although I went with tea cups, I think all of them are great so far.
  5. For a fanfiction I've been working on and off of for almost a decade. I know, that seems just a bit excessive for most, but I was never satisfied with the story. And I have posted it before, but I almost always took it down. I had also decided I wanted to use my original characters in my own in development original story and was rather worried about leaving them up for that reason. But a good friend of mine has been encouraging me to finish it. He's been very helpful and with some input from him and with the help of many great SE and Disney possibilities, the fic is in a much better state than ever. And with even more encouragement from my friend, I decided to do some drawings for it and this is one of the first for it. The fic is called The Other Story and it's set during the original game. It focuses more on the Final Fantasy influence than the Disney one, but they are both important to the story. It's just more like a perspective flip. These main characters of this fic and they are part of my own interpretation of the SeeD organization in the KHverse. I hope you'll all indulge me if it seems like I'm just going through ideas others have done before. Anyway, these are the main characters. From left to right, Zell, Lulu and Stitch. And my own character, whose name is Omega. That's all I have for now, again, please indulge me with this. I don't normally post my artwork on forums.
  6. It's about all we can do. I still believe that Tabata can pull it off, I just hope that he doesn't come to regret simplifying the story and gameplay when SE wants to continue with the games universe like they planned to in the first place.
  7. It is rather frustrating and hopefully we'll eventually know the full reason behind. But as I mentioned, I do think it's unfair to try and play the blame game when so much of this games development still remains a mystery.
  8. He mentioned her being re-envisioned, so yes she probably has some important aspects still intact, though her role is the story is completely different to what it was before. It's also more that a lot of people do see it as Tabata taking a game that wasn't his concept and mutating it into something else, if that's what I think a lot of fans believe. Again, I try and give everyone the benefit of the doubt on this, because until SE shows us exactly what Stella's story was (probably won't until after the game is released), we can only the speculate. Of course, Tabata hasn't helped himself out concerning this. He has made many comments that have upset fans, as I mentioned in the comments he admitted to changing the gameplay for a very terrible reason. IE, thinking more about what he would want to play instead of what everyone might want to play. EDIT: Though, what he actually said on that was that he wanted to make sure the game could appeal to casual gamers while still having the level of depth to it. Fans being fans, the intended message is not always what fans hear.
  9. Thanks. To me, it's more that the mismanagement is what killed the game, not Tabata. I think he's just trying to pick up the pieces, as I said. We don't really know why Nomura left, but I don't think we can truly say that it's for the best till the game is out. If people don't like the changes, that's fine, it's more that the reasoning behind the changes that's got a lot of people angry. And as I said, we did know enough about her that we got invested in her. There was an entire gameplay video that showed off her and Noctis' dynamic, so we had an idea of what she was like. People saying she had little appearance seem to forget that.
  10. Well, that's pretty awesome to hear. Now if only they could get Mega Man away from Capcom.
  11. UPDATED EDITS: I decided to do some grammar checking and adding some additional points that I missed. Hopefully my intentions with the article are clearer now. My first topic starter here, well I wanted to start being more active in the fanbase, so might as well start here. And what better than to start with something that has been on my wish list for almost a decade and the mixed feelings I have had for it's development. When Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced, I know a lot of us were excited for it and were impatient to know more. After all, it's teaser trailer showed us some impressive visuals, an interesting story set up with lots of Shakespearean influence to it. And as we learned more about the game we became more impatient. But now, years later the game is finally, truly, on it's way and many are not happy about this. Why? Mostly because the game and the company behind it broke a lot of promises concerning it. Promises that they said were going to be kept no matter what, but alas, were not to be. It's true that this game has been kept in vaporware for too long. It's true that Nomura and SE refused to comment on it as much as they could. And it's true that Tabata has had to pick up the pieces of what is a huge mismanagement of what was potentially the best FF game ever. But the question is.... why? Why and how did it come to this? I think it was perhaps too ambitious for the company at the time it was released. I don't think Square Enix truly gave this game the development time it deserved while it was Versus XIII. From what I've heard, it kept getting delayed in favor of other projects, similar to what happened with Final Fantasy Agito XIII and how it was stalled in favor of The 3rd Birthday. And Nomura is the head of the Kingdom Hearts series and thus is very busy there. And we know that developers for the game were brought over to help XIII's production. And the engine that would be used for the game took too long to make. But why, when the TGS 2011 trailer was revealed and the gameplay was well received did Square Enix change it? Fully controllable party members and the ability to pilot magitek armor and tanks gone and traditional menus removed for a more automated approach that, while fine in its own right, just seems so very different than what was promised. Tabata has said that this was because he felt he was too old for the original gameplay to play it properly and wanted it more casual, but is that a good enough reason to uproot an entire battle system that had a positive response? I know there will always be purists who wished for it to be turn-based, but it does feel unnecessary in the grand scheme of things. The original gameplay looked great and was well received. However, not a lot of people talk about that aspect. And of course, the removal of key elements within the original story, despite Nomura promising the story was intact. Tabata seems to be doing the best he can, but the removal of Stella due to not knowing how she fit in to the game does send some warning signs and not caring to just rewrite her a bit along with the rest of the game doesn't look good. But let's be completely fair to him. He's not doing this out of malicious intent, but simply trying to put together a game that the old management kept screwing over. However, I do think it's also unfair to place the blame on Nomura. After all, he's just another game developer who has a lot of projects he's involved with, being a lead character designer and director for an entire spinoff series. So whose fault is it really that the game has had such a troubled production? The original management, who kept delaying the game? Nomura for having too grand a vision? Tabata for uplifting the games production yet again it was finally fully in development? Honestly, I think everyone can share the blame, but at the same time I don't want this to be mistaken as an entirely negative article. Despite the changes to gameplay and story, I've played the demo (both the original and the updated version) and it is a good demo despite the fact that I think it would have been more prudent to reintroduce us to major supporting characters and the invasion and thus the plot itself instead of what amounts to just a lot of meandering about a very large area for three hours. And that's the big problem, we were promised more information along with the game and basically just got an area that doesn't seem like it's going to advance the plot any. And yet it's taken us until now to learn about the removal of the original games heroine. That's still very poor management and I would have hoped that Tabata had just been honest with us from the start or at least asked us what we really would have wanted to see instead. :| I digress though, because despite this I still have hope for the game. It is beautiful, the music amazing and the characters are extremely entertaining and likeable. I do appreciate how much Noctis and his friends feel like real friends just camping out while hunting monsters for money. And if the story is focused on that then that's good. And I do hope that Luna is a good character in her own right and I think that Stella isn't dead, but just waiting for a chance to have her own game like several other characters in the past have. We still don't know a lot about the game and we should give it a chance even if we have all of those broken promises. Because I do think that Tabata does understand that we want this game and is trying his hardest to finish it for us. If you guys really want Stella back (and I truly doubt it'll work, but no harm trying), maybe you guys should explain why she was important to begin with. Tabata does listen to us after all, just look at the updated Duscae for proof of that. But for me, I do think it would probably be unfeasible to uplift the game yet again just to get the original heroine back. And yeah, Stella was important to a lot of us, including me. In fact, her scene with Noctis helped inspire the dynamic between the hero and heroine of my own story that I've been working on. So I do completely understand why people are upset by her removal and replacement. We did become invested in her and no matter what, it's still important to remember that she did inspire fans and did indeed have more than enough information out about her to make us care about her. If you agree with this or think I am cutting them too much slack, please free to say so. I see so many fans point out how much the game sucks or how much happier they are with it that I think it's good to just take a most neutral look at it.
  12. I only quoted that part to say I disagree with the idea that Nomura is making things up as he goes along. Other than that, I was primarily agreeing with your points and also agreeing that concept of Xion wasn't conceived until Kingdom Hearts II's production and even then, wasn't finalized till Days' production. There is some planning for future titles ahead of when they actually enter production, but as far back as KHFM, I don't think they fully had an idea for what would happen if they went past Kingdom Hearts II.
  13. Considering terms such as "The Gathering" have shown up since the very original secret movie, and looking at various interviews, I doubt it's just Nomura making things up as he goes along. However, this doesn't mean it's all planned out to start with, since Nomura has stated he didn't expect the series to become what it is. The Ultimania's do give insight into the productions of the games with their interviews. I remember also one interview that stated that they believed someone was the reason for why Roxas left the Organization or at least part of the reason. That being said, I doubt the full concept of Xion was conceived before the development of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix had wrapped up. It most likely only started to be formed when work on Days had begun.
  14. Indeed, Terra could have shown better judgment concerning these characters, but when you actually look at it, he's really got no reason at first to doubt these characters. And he definitely doesn't help them all out or even trust them, ESPECIALLY the Evil Queen.
  15. I have never heard about this port crashing, and having played both the Japanese version and English versions, I found no serious issues that make it a bad port. Yes, there are glitches and mapping overlays, but considering problems with other ports, such as the Silent Hill HD Collection and The Zone of Enders HD Collection, both of which had to be patched extensively upon release, these problems don't make it a bad port. Those are examples of bad ports, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix HD may have some issues, but none of them make the game a terrible port. And I've heard far more people agree that it was a great port rather than that it was a terrible one, so have you considered that maybe it's not that I'm lucky, but that you were unlucky? Same with this Kappa person? Also, I have seen people perfect Pink Agaricus on HD, I have even done it. It's very easy to do so, actually. Since Goofy and Donald's AI is not that great in the first game, if you summon Bambi at the base of the tree, then keep him there while you get rid of the White Mushrooms, it's very easy to make sure they get stuck there when the Pink Agaricus appears. Even still, that hardly makes it a bad port
  16. I don't know what version of KHFM HD you were playing, but it never crashed for me, never did that infinite dodge roll and over all was an excellent port. Ever consider that you just had a bad disc? Because it does happen on occasion. As for glitches in the rest of the series, yes there has been several, but they are usually fixed by their Final Mix versions, or a patch, as was the case of Dream Drop Distance. One minor glitch in KH2 was where Wisdom Form had the sleeve decals of Master Form instead of it's own. Unlike Kairi's panties, that was clearly a texture glitch. I had also heard reports about a glitch with BBS FM, but haven't discovered anything else concerning it.
  17. Yes, they are. But in this case it's a very good thing that they're reselling this game, because the massive amount of new content in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Birth by Sleep Final Mix have never made it outside of Japan before now. And as someone who has played those games, they are apparently worth buying because they had so very much to the experience and are worth buying again.
  18. Okay, first off, you're misunderstanding what I'm saying here. Because I never said that was the only reason he left him there. I'm saying in the reports that it's revealed that he specifically chose Destiny Islands for him to spend his last moments in peace because he had some compassion for him, even if he had just pulled his darkness out (which I mentioned, btw). I never said he wasn't going to use Ven again after he revealed himself to still be possibly useful, I was expressly pointing out the reasons for why he chose Land of Departure and Destiny Islands. Go back and read those reports if you do not believe me. I also pointed out that he chose Terra during his visit there. Secondly, IT DOES because you specifically stated you don't agree with it, meaning you think it's trivial. But it's not, it's part of the understanding of the character and how even a good intentioned individual can be corrupted into doing horrible things. The idea is that Xehanort, who is stated to have been not so different from Sora and Riku, even being from the Destiny Islands, used to be a good but still flawed person but because of his ambitions and dabbling in dark powers, that is no longer the case. Hell, Dream Drop Distance made it clear that Xehanort is what Riku could have been had he not chosen to remain a moral and good person and just let darkness corrupt him. There is the point in bringing it up. Then state your opening argument better, because when you say it like that it makes it seem like you do think they think that. And just because you don't agree with the concept just makes it even worse because that is absolutely an obvious statement. We're not supposed to agree with the tyranny of light concept that Xehanort is spouting. That's the point, so good job about being obvious about it.
  19. Xehanort IS a well-intentioned extremist, or rather, he started out as one. He wants to bring balance, not because there is too much light, but because both light and darkness are natural facets of the world and need to be equal. That's what he's after, he doesn't like that the world isn't equal when it logically should be if light and darkness are both important. If you read his reports in Birth by Sleep, you see that he questions how he could bring about this balance and decides that the Keyblade War is the best way to do so, even if it'll destroy everything. He acknowledges this, but he is curious to see what'll happen if a second Keyblade War happens. He's doing this because he honestly believes that this is for the greater good of everyone. His good intentions, however, became lost after years of dabbling in the darkness, where his thirst for knowledge and power greatly overtook his original intentions. He also showed compassion after ripping Ventus' darkness out and wants to originally leave him somewhere where he can die in peace, but when Ventus shows signs of recovering, he instead leaves him with Eraqus. Who, despite their fight years earlier, Xehanort still describes Eraqus as a brother and someone he can trust to raise Ventus. While by this point he is corrupted by darkness, he's still got his compassion left to him, even if he had already decided to also take Terra's body when he left Ventus at the Land of Departure. But by the time of the games events, he has lost all of that because he has become so corrupted. We're not meant to agree with him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have reasons that are explained in story and it's not Square Enix that's portraying him as in the right. Again, he's the villain of the story and the heroes are trying to prevent the Keyblade War. Where do you get that Square Enix is the one who thinks he's right when it's clearly some group of people on the internet who do?
  20. I'm not sure, so I'm not committing to either option. I'd like to see more about the game first before considering when they'll announce when it'll be released. I seriously doubt it'll be announced before TGS 2014, but they could surprise us.
  21. Considering Disney owns the series, it's not likely to happen at all. Square Enix does develop and hold creative sway over many of the original aspects, but it's still a Disney owned product, so while it would be sad, we'd never see Disney replaced with anything else.
  22. Okay, first off, when I said that reception was positive, I did not mean that it was just IGN or Gamespot who liked the game, I am talking about the people who aren't professional reviewers, who are just people who felt strongly about a game and decided to comment on it. Metacritic, IMDb, Gamefaqs, the user ratings for sites like Gamespot and IGN, you look through them and you'll see what I mean. The majority is in the positive end of the spectrum, meaning that the majority liked it. I'm not saying everyone loved it, I'm saying that the people who liked it outweigh the people who don't. You may not have liked the game, that's fine, I'm not saying anything against it, I understand. What I'm trying to point out is that you may want to consider that most people liked it and in fact that perhaps the people who didn't are loudest about their dislike than the people who did. I also never said that IGN and others were the definitive source for the positive reception of the game, just pointing out the reception at the time, which everyone seems to forget. And people do forget that kind of stuff, especially with videos of people on youtube bashing the hell out of the games that they hate and their fans mimicking them. It does happen, on both sides of the spectrum, and denying it won't make it any less true. And yes, the game might have sold less, but to be honest, that just means half the people didn't care for the first game not "the majority" as you said it. And it still sold very well, and was better received for the most part. Also, on the subject of Sonic 06, while it is true that the game was also a financial success, the difference is that the critical reception was overall negative from both critics and players from the start, with fans of the game really being the ones in the minority on the issue. Final Fantasy XIII's was mixed to positive, with many gaming sites giving it various praises from story, gameplay, graphics, music and voice acting. Of those five things, Sonic '06 was only praised for the music, with the graphics being close to a positive reception. Another difference between the two is that Sonic 06 is universally to be a game riddled with bugs, control issues, camera problems and was overall considered to be unplayable. For the most part, aside from some things that critics didn't like, Final Fantasy XIII was agreed to be playable. Comparing these two together is not a good comparison because there is a huge difference in reception. A lot of people didn't like it, but as I pointed out, many more people do like it. And as Sora96 said, they wanted to incorporate stuff into the sequel fans wanted. VI can't have a sequel because it pretty much ends at a point where a sequel wouldn't be realistic, after all, magic is gone at the end and probably forever. IX didn't sell enough to warrant a sequel, despite being well recieved. And this might be a shock, but Final Fantasy V's reception was pretty mixed when it first came out. It's only lately, with a bit of help from Dissidia, that's FFV is gaining in popularity. You may not want to accept it, but the fanbase was there, they wanted Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Square Enix gave it to them. And considering how good the game was, I'm not complaining about it. People like different things, they may see a game they didn't like get a sequel, but that doesn't mean that there isn't more people out there who did like the game and wanted the sequel and that's what me and Sora96 are trying to tell you.
  23. This was years ago that Kitase said it, so if they decided to remake it, then that might have changed. However, remaking the game for the PS4 would still be a huge task, considering how many things in the game would need to be significantly expanded. Even in Crisis Core, a game that is very much as close as we'll get to a more HD Final Fantasy VII game, you are limited to where you would have to go because the extent of the locations you visited in both games have been expanded to a significant degree, even for the PSP. And let's remember that the game does have a large amount of places to visit. Is it really so hard to understand that they might not want to invest in the time it would take to make the kind of remake many are asking for?
