That's because they're in two totally different areas. Aqua'a in the RoD while Sora and Riku were at the "boarder" of the Realm of In between. The beaches that Sora and Riku and Aqua and Ansem were on are identical for undisclosed reasons. I believe that when Nomura explained it he said that the beach Riku and Sora where on bordered the RoD but wasn't strictly part of it so I think it's meant to be seem as the beaches "reflecting" each other in some way. Found the quote:

Inspirational Quotes from the Series

Because of the movie. I think the reason The Grid was in 3D in the first place was because of some sort of poll to let the fans decide what Disney movie they wanted in the next KH game and The Grid won.

KH1 What was your reaction when Sora stabbed himself with the keyblade?
Ruran replied to Anya's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I played KH1 first, got stuck but liked enough of what I played to get the second one and played that for a while, then went back to finish KH1. I didn't rally have a reaction to it so I suppose I ruined it for myself. -
KHDays So how did you to Xion's "last scene"
Ruran replied to Christa Marie Censoplano's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Welp. She's dead. -
Something entirely new. Nomura likes making new artwork for KH so I don't doubt that the RE:Mixs will get new art. Especially considering the Final Mixes. They could have been lazy and used the original box art, just slightly altered, but then Nomura would loss an opportunity to make new art lol.

Where did you leave it last? Did you check under your bed? But seriously though, KH is a seven game series and counting. Games are going to be left out and they had to choose the order they sought best. On top of what everyone else said, they're also trying to put the games in order that they think will be easiest for new comers. 1.5 has KH1FM, Re:CoM, and Days because, disregarding BbS, they're the first games chronologically. Nomura said that it would be unnatural to not have a 2.5 so there's where your KH2 is. It's up to debate what else they'll out with it though. IMO 2.5 will have KH2FM BbS, because they connect the most, and cutscenes of re:Coded. I don't see 3D involvement anytime soon because it relatively new, even when 2.5 comes out because it couldn't come out later than 2014. I think we'll have a 3.5 with KH3, 3D, and video of BbSV2.

Ven was some kid Lea and Isa bumped into ten years ago then never saw again after spending just a few minutes playing. If either Axel or Saix had any inkling it would have been a very bare one. Hell, I remember when I was in school I'd have class mates come up to me saying that they new me from just the year before but I wouldn't remember at all, lol. Braig/Xigbar was a bit more involved with Ven seeing he was working with Xehanort and Ven was a big part of their planes.

Nomura has too Much Control Over Kingdom Hearts
Ruran replied to hatok's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
This is why I have ambivalent feeling towards the next "saga" because Nomura has admitted himself that KH's story had gotten a little over complicated since KH2, but it looks like it suffered from a snow ball effect where he started adding concepts and had to keep going for the sake of consistency. KH presented itself as having a "deep and complex" story and now that's what many fans expect and as shown with Re:Coded a simpler story doesn't bode well. With a new saga there's a chance to start a story over from scratch, have things planned out better, and maybe even have less games because it wouldn't need the smaller handhelds for support if it's planned better, and over all be more condensed and consistant. At the same time, personally, I'm getting tired of keeping up with the series and I'm mostly sticking around to finish what I started. Come KH3 plan to jump ship. I might keep up with the next saga from a casual standpoint but at this point in time I have no interest. -
A gummi ship over haul. Traveling via gummi ship in KH1 was a real pain and tedious but they managed to make it pretty fun in KH2. Seeing as they're borrowing from KH2 for improvements I'm hoping that the gummi ship is part of it. Being able to replay the game from the same file e.g. Re:Coded. Some of the effects to be tweaked like when Sora summons and banishes his Keyblade. There are some moments where it looks like he's summoning it from his ass or throws it away off to the side. More cutscenes to flesh the plot and characters out a bit more, ESPECIALLY Kairi. It's hard for me to care for the girl when 95% of her screen time is her being a vegetable and the rest a plot device. Throw us a bone and add a couple more scenes. Expanding from the last one, there were a couple of things that were never explained in KH1 or other wise, like "The Keyblade of People's Hearts" and Hollow Bastion's apparently unfinished keyhole. More Ansem Reports. That firetrucking button that no one can reach in Hollow Bastion. What was up with that? First time I played KH it trolled me for an hour or two before I learned that it was unreachable.

The only ability Sora gained from merging from Ven was dual wielding and that's only because Ven a Keyblade to loan. I wouldn't be surprised either if Sora kept the dual wielding ability despite their eventual separation though Sora's heart overall seems more influential than Ven's. A lot of the abilities and attacks Sora and Ven share also just seem to be general techniques.

I can confirm that toaster grilled cheese is legit. I just made one.

There's not much to speculate regarding Roxas's heart really. It's mostly debating how far along it is. 1) Magic sword love, magic sword. Soul Eater isn't a Keyblade. 2) I believe it was confirmed by the director. Either way it has been shown that Keyblade's don't care, especially since Keyblades from the RoD are really rare and if Mickey is anything to go by, if you happen to have one from there you have to go fetch it yourself. 3) You mean the extra cutscenes from KHFM+? It hasn't been made clear why Xemnas (though I think it's hinted that it has something to do with memories) visited the Chamber of Repose but it's never been hinted at once that Xion was made from Aqua's armor. That scene was there to stir up controversy among fans in anticipation for BbS because Xemnas called the armor "friend" and the armor was recognizable from KH2's and later, KH2FM+'s secret ending. . In KH1FM there's a boss battle with Xemnas where he "sampled" Sora's memories and he used that to construct Xion.

You were doing good until the last two quotes lol. That was more or less much the reason the Kingdom Key chose Sora, Sora had accidentally "stolen" the Keyblade from Riku but it couldn't get back to Riku so it stuck with Sora for a while. No "power" from Aqua necessary, She only said what she said because she was afraid the past would repeat itself, especially since little Riku and Sora reminded her so much of Ven and Terra, so she was planning to "bequeath" (as you like to say) the ability onto Sora but decided against it afraid that would make things worse. Keyblades them selves don't actually care about what side you affiliate so long you have the minimum requirements like having a strong heart (See: Mickey and the Kingdom Key D). It completely rejected him later because he let his he let his heart get too weak from misusing the darkness. I feel I should stretch that a Keyblade won't reject or chose you based on your light/dark affiliation, but darkness is more damaging to the heart and improper use will weaken it. Soul Eater's a magic sword that Maleficent gave Riku to use. It's suspected that it later transformed into The Way to the Dawn, a Realm of Light Keyblade. Roxas was born with a heart, Ven's heart. When Sora stabbed himself Ven's sleeping and injured heart stayed in Sora's body and was held by Roxas, hence, Roxas looking just like Ven. Roxas can wield Sora's Keyblade because he's his Nobody and eventually Ven's when he awakens it after an emotional outburst, via, Xion's "death". Roxas does eventually gain his own heart throughout but it's implied that it's not a full grown one. No armor needed, she was the physical manifestation of Sora's memories and probably a few others indirectly. Xion was to replace Sora entirely in the case he failed but Roxas was a happy accident. Xion and Roxas weren't meant to exist simultaneously so they started "fighting" over their existence. Xemnas didn't care who one as long as he got a wielder in the end. See first paragraph. It's not made clear where MX got his Keyblade but I recon it's a RoL one too. Xehanort nor his counterparts ever lost the ability to wield, Xehanort pretended he didn't, Xemnas didn't as to not blow his cover, and Ansem is sort of left in the air but he can probably wield too. See first paragraph. Though I take Ansem possessed Riku as a hint that Ansem can in fact wield but it's still left a little sketchy.

Same mostly. I was fine with him being a Nobody though but they overloaded him a bit while "expaaaaaaaanding" his character in an attempt to make him more interesting.

They'll look the same as always. Ven lost his heart so his growth is stunted and Roxas looks the way he remembers himself but doesn't have own body to age.

KH2 Which boss took you the longest to beat?
Ruran replied to power-of-wind's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Sephiroth. Weird considering that I hear most people say that he was a lot harder in KH1 but I beat him the first time while in KH2 I had to fight him like fifty times. -
I remember the first one but I don't think I ever saw a commercial of KH2 on t.v.

I saw this on Etsy a while back. They have a Nobody/Org.XIII one too.
