Tinkerbell and the Magic Carpet lead you to a secret boss of immense strength without any warning and the moment it appears they ditch you. When I first played the game I was positive it was intentional

"The Ones Who Must Be Saved" Plan
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Firaga's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
It might be better, but it would be really confusing having two contradictory lives, and Sora's brain has a hard enough keeping track of the one. But using Data-Sora as an example one can expect Sora to trust Namine with no reservations because she says they were friends. If Xehanort had been a bit more clever instead of his grand plan with Sora in 3Ds he could have just said he was a friend Sora had forgotten and Sora would have helped him cheerfully. As for Donald and Goofy I take their absence in 3Ds as a sign I will never have to fight with them in my way again. Preferably I get to fight with 2 other keyblade wielders in my party. -
Pretty awesome. I think my favorite two would be BBS and Days. I insert a cover to my binder covered in as many references to things I love as I can, I've got Oathkeeper & Oblivion, Kairi's message, and the Nobody sigil, as well as my favorite Luxord quote, 'A window of opportunity can open and close in the blink of an eye. It's whether or not you can jump on the chance when it arises that determines a man's fate.'

KH3D |SPOILER| Oh ....My....God
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Dio Brando's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
My point-of-view is Nomura is saying the universe has a fail-safe of sorts that prevents Paradoxes very neatly, you don't remember your time-travel, and you can't make changes to the past by moving people/things through time. Yours is that the universe has a fail-safe of sorts that prevents Paradoxes by having the past be unchangeable and essentially permitting small -scale paradoxes (lowercase p) such as defeating SoD in KH AND KHIII to prevent larger Paradoxes (uppercase P) such as Xehanort didn't get recreated at the end of KHII/Start of 3Ds. If I understand you correctly. My comment was just saying that fortunately the universe doesn't hate us and have a fail-safe that prevents Paradoxes by having past individuals be immortal so as to prevent them from dying at the wrong time. Also, if Sora defeats SoD and Xemnas again won't we get ANOTHER Xehanort? Because we didn't have enough in the first place. -
Roxas = Ventus nobody idea ELABORATION
Gambler'sApprentice replied to CloakedSchemerX's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
The problem here is simple, theoretically each body has one heart in it. A Nobody doesn't have a heart because part of that heart (the Darkness in it specifically) turned into a heartless When Sora released his heart(s) he had (as far as we know) 3 hearts in him, Kairi's, Ventus', and his own. Kairi's heart for some ineffable reason went to Castle Oblivion and started to form Kairi as a Nobody but stopped when it realized its body was still around, and since it had no darkness to turn into a heartless it could return to Kairi complete. Therefore Namine looks similar to but not entirely like Kairi. Ventus' heart headed for Twilight Town, since it too was a heart of pure light and wasn't going to turn into a heartless. Since it couldn't return to Ventus since it was asleep it formed Roxas, looking exactly like Ventus, presumably altering Sora's body. Sora's heart released and turned into a Heartless, but for a somewhat vague reason retained all sense of self, and a great immunity to Donald's attacks (that's not fair. EVERYTHING has great immunity to Donald's attacks. The duck would be more useful as a meal then a mage). Since Princess of Heart hugs cure Heartless his heart was freed and he returned to normal like everyone else did in 3Ds. But Roxas and Namine remained, one a Nobody with even less existence than most, the other a Nobody born with a heart. -

Worst case scenario both of us have some truth, killing them would change the past, and you can't change the past. Therefore they are immortal. -
"The Ones Who Must Be Saved" Plan
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Firaga's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Looking at it simply we have 6 people to rescue. Here's what would have to be done to free them Roxas- Free his heart from Sora's without taking Sora's memories like what happened in Days Xion- Get somebody* to remember her, and free her heart from Sora's without taking Sora's memories like what happened in Days Ventus- Have Aqua guide (presumably at least Riku) to the Chamber of Waking in CO so he can free him from sleep and allow his heart to rejoin his body Aqua- Search the RoD until they can rescue her from Ansem the Wise at the Dark Margin Terra- Rescue Aqua so they can find out Master Xehanort took over Terra, then force Master Xehanort to leave. This would probably require a fight in Terra's heart where his friends come and join him. Namine- Assuming she has a heart, removing it from Kairi *Namine might, which would make it all much easier, and it might make it possible to remove Roxas' and Xion's hearts without messing with Sora's memories. So since they know exactly where Namine is they probably free her and they look for Aqua and she guides them through Castle Oblivion to rescue Ven. They free the hearts in Sora and Namine might have to make sure Sora's memories stay with him. They probably then have to defeat Xehanort before they can rescue Terra, possibly like changing Riku in KHII. There shouldn't be a way to restore Sora's memories from CoM, Namine used Sora's memories but scrambled and altered them. Rather like taking all the pictures in a gallery, painting on the backs and putting them in a different order. He could learn about what happened in CoM, but I don't think he'd be able to regain them. -
Only on Tuesdays and Fridays.... I think. Maybe those are Alligator Days.

Sci-fi and fantasy tv show recommendation thread
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Villi1997's topic in General Discussion
The Best Science-Fiction show currently known is Babylon 5. Of everything I'm going to mention this has to be watched. Just do it in order. The Twilight Zone: While not technically just science-fiction it had a lot of science-fiction episodes, and elements. Personally I think it is the best TV show ever, and Rod Serling is a mad genius. Red Dwarf: A science-fiction comedy from BBC, it can have some serious messages but never forgets it's there to make you laugh. Jekyll: A modern-day variation on the theme of Stevenson's classic 'The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde' It's very well done, and is from BBC as well. I may be a bit of an Anglophile. Gankutsuou: Imagine the Count of Monte Cristo with mech, lunar colonies, and other sci-fi elements and yoou have this anime that beats every other version in terms of accuracy to the novel, which is rather sad since the novel's height of technology was a pocketwatch. Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, and Voyager: I know you said you were into Star Trek, I just wasn't sure if you meant the Original Series or it in general. The series get better as you go along, just don't watch the Animated Series (it's terrible) or think Enterprise is related to Star Trek at all. It's not, it is a massive betrayal of everything the series ever stood for. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood: A cross between Sci-fi and fantasy, it's based on the Full Metal Alchemist manga, but when it was first made into an anime the writers got... off script. So make sure to watch Brotherhood. Death Note: A dark fantasy series that you've no doubt heard of before, featuring some of the most insanely brilliant individuals in fiction. Robin Hood: A modern BBC version that is terrible, and may not realize it. They tried to make it clever and wity, but mostly made it stupid and campy. I can't watch it for too long, but there is something fascinating about how badlly some things can be done. Bold titles mean they have to be watched in order Let me just give you a heads up about these shows Heroes: It's so full of plot holes you could run out of ink listing them all. The characters are rediculous and death has no meaning for anyone. Battlestar Galactica: Imagine a Soap OPera where every time you saw a window you could see stars through it. That is this. I don't know anything about Dr. Who or Stargate, but i know they are fairly popular, and they should be watched to find out if they actually are any good. To Conclude you didn't ask but I have a couple suggestions for well-written Sci-Fi and Fantasy I, Robot- Isaac Asimov The Martian Chronicles- Ray Bradbury Jurassic Park- Michael Crichton The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "Trilogy"- Douglas Adams The Millennium Trilogy (After watching DS9)- Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens Diskworld Novels- Terry Pratchett Dragonlance Series- Margret Weis & Tracy Hickman Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica- James Owen The Belgariad- David Eddings and of course... The Lord of the Rings- John Ronald Reuel Tolkein -

KHDays 358/2 Days VS. RE:Coded
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Gamerazor247's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Days isa better game because it has more engaging characters, a simpler combat system, and a more important and intricate story to the Kingdom Hearts series. Coded can be conveyed in a few cutscenes, while the experience with the characters in Days can only be gained over time. -
Depends on how the lines are drawn, maybe it's a ladder with three rungs.

KH3D Xehanort's Fatal Flaw? *spoilers*
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Gambler'sApprentice's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
You're right about the Guardians, but since altogether we could have 12 Keyblade wielders he'd want to limit that to make his life easier. Kidnapping Aqua eliminates a Keyblade Master, Ventus, and knowledge of Terra, along with possibly Eraqus, another Master. Kidnapping Kairi eliminates an unknown element (a Keyblade wielding Princess of Heart) and possibly Roxas and Xion, which if he's lucky would keep Lea distracted as he tries to find a way to rescue them. That leaves Mickey, Sora, Riku, Yen Sid, and Lea trying to stop him, with him able to bring three others to bring the total of definite wielders (since Yen Sid might not) to seven when he chooses, rather than having them all trying to stop him. -
No, three corners is not a square it's two 90 degree angles.

KH3D |SPOILER| Oh ....My....God
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Dio Brando's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Them dying does effect his existence, because they used time-travel. Obviously YMX grabbed them from before Sora fought them. If SoD is beaten in this future his Heart will join Kingdom Hearts of the Future, so when Sora beat Xemnas he couldn't come back because his heart wouldn't even exist for the Somebodies recreation. -
KH1 *Maybe Spoilers?* What Is Your Best KH Memory?
Gambler'sApprentice replied to xoblivionx13's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
The scene that got me into Kingdom Hearts as a series was Deep Dive, I'd played through the games and formed a strong attachment to Oathkeeper. So when this scene shows up with a mysterious individual Dual-Wielding Oathkeeper & Oblivion (I've always had a massive weakness for dual-wielding) fighting these mysterious heartless-on-steroids without effort I knew I had to keep playing. Generally I'm pretty neutral on playing video games, I'll play them, but I don't get to passionate, because otherwise I can get obsessive, but I had to find out what was going on there and who this awesome character was. -
If you go left three times the third is still left, the directions don't change because you almost know how to turn in a circle.

The one does not negate the other.

Sora in KH I is overconfident due to his childish mentality, while 3Ds Sora is overconfident due to having saved the worlds twice, and defeating SoD and Xemnas. Before he starts the MoM exam he expresses his overconfidence, he doesn't think he'll have trouble with Xehanort. So now he just sees himself wandering through worlds fighting no-risk opponents looking for a Keyhole that will convince Yen Sid of what he already believes. KH Sora wants to visit as many worlds as possible to find his friends and save them, 3Ds Sora wants to wander around until he can do something he thinks exciting. By the time exciting things happen it's too late, he's trapped.
