I thought he was a jerk when I was new; now he's the best~
I understand what hatok is saying. When you compare TWEWY to the original KH, there is no comparison. TWEWY is a much superior game. I haven't played the original KH in a long time, even though I've tried. The gameplay is so sluggish, and when you compare it to it's sequels...the entire game is mildly awkward to play.
So the reasons TWEWY is better than the original KH:
1) As I breifly touched upon earlier; TWEWY's gameplay is a lot more fun and engaging than KH. KH is mostly run around mash the x button, repeat. Not a lot of thinking involved. TWEWY has something more interesting: different tips of touches for different types of attacks. Add on the option to also control your partner simultaneously, and the game stimulates you a lot more, and adds a layer of complexity and strategy to the gameplay.
TWEWY also offers a variety of attack types, which adds more customization for each person to play. KH kind of lets you pick between attack mashing, magic spamming, or some hybrid. The replay value of KH is limited mostly to Nostalgia and trying to complete the journal to get the secret ending. TWEWY has replay value to try different types of psyches and all the secret missions for the secret ending.
2) TWEWY's storyline, all though it likes to double back on itself a lot, is also a lot more comprehensive. I also find it has a level of depth to it through the characters actually having growth. Neku grows as a character throughout the game, as does Shiki and Beat. Sure Joshua is still a douche by the ending, but hey that's why we love him. KH, even when you figure in the subsequent games, Sora hasn't really had any true character growth, nor has really anyone else except Riku and maybe Lea.
3) As much as I love me some KH music; it's all rather repetitive. I love how TWEWY mixes it up with a different track playing every battle, even when you're chaining fights. Also, the back ground music when you're running around changes whenever you leave it then return. (Battling, shopping, opening the menu) When you're stuck grinding in KH its the same battle music through out the entire world, and when it's done you start back up the normal world theme. It's not very exciting.
4) I kind of want to add how random battles are optional in TWEWY. You truly don't need to fight anything that isn't required through plot of the game. This can be true of KH, however; but it's much more complicated to achieve. I don't find this a true point of why TWEWY is better, since it can be achieved in either game.
And that is why I love TWEWY much more than the original Kingdom Hearts game.
