Let's start with the items:
Rock storm - Causes four boulders to fall onto the opponent's captain and their Pikmin.
Lightning - Strikes opponents with an immobilizing current of lightning.
Enemy Annihilator- An item that is used to kill all enemies onscreen.
Ultra-Spicy Spray- Makes your Pikmin gain the effects of an Ultra-Spicy Spray.(Cannot be stored)
+10 Pikmin - Makes the onion spawn ten of the Pikmin the player started the map with.
+5 Rare Pikmin - Makes the onion spawn five of the Pikmin the player does not start with.
Lucky Marble - fills up a random space on your Bingo card, The Lucky Marble resembles The President of hocotate freight
Shuffle - An item that scrambles up your opponent's Bingo card
Bomb Rock - An item that gives the player a Bomb Rock
Warp - An item that teleports your opponent to a random place with any Pikmin under their control.
Mine - A bomb that Pikmin can carry and throw similar to a bomb rock. It will stick to wherever the Pikmin lands, and will only detonate when a captain walks by.
Macaroon Recovery - An item only available when playing 'Victory Macaroon' mode. Transports the players' macaroon back to their onion.
Here some strategies I've found that work. Try them out, if you will!
When your opponent is plucking pikmin, the pikmin will most likely be bunched together. Use the Rock Storm to kill the clustered troops. The best part is, pikmin killed by anything BUT other pikmin, they won't respawn.
At the bottom of a slide, place a mine. If you're on Rusted Labyrinth, have a laugh as all the Opponent's pikmin go flying off the edge!
Attach a mine on an object that your Opponent needs when they're about to get a win. Not as efficient as just taking it to your onion, but it's helpful if you don't have the pikmin for it.
Use Bomb rocks to stall time for the pikmin carrying items. Works well in closed areas, where you can't go around another place, or around it.
Have Winged Pikmin carry mines and bomb rocks. They're best for bombers. Good for all terrain.
When the Opponent is in trouble with an enemy or an explosive, use the lightning power up to paralyze the pikmin in an attempt to get them still long enough to...pass away. Bye bye!
Leech kills.
Tactic one: As the Opponent is occupied with several enemies, if they've killed one you still need, sneak around and take the dead enemy to base behind their backs!
Tactic two: Almost like tactic one, but if the Opponent doesn't have any or enough pikmin to get something, when they run back, steal it!
Have Winged Pikmin be your rescuers. You can manage to get them to take something that would you normally have to break a gate down and beat some enemies. The Citrus Lump/Orange on
Rusted Labyrinth is a good example.
Warp them when they're about to get an item!
Create a distraction!
Oh boy. Here we go.
Tactic one: Bring up like...a quarter or half of your army to their base. Let them fight it out as the Opponent is frantically trying to fend them off. Useful for bringing an item.
Tactic two/Tactic 1.5: When they're getting an item back, run on over and bombard their captain(s). When they're shaking them off, swarm the item and take it under their nose, and if you can, swarm their army.
Tactic three: Leave scattered pikmin around. Preferably red pikmin, to guard certain areas. Great for a base alarm. Just be careful where you plant them. Enemies could gobble them up or they can 'help' bring items back.
Tactic four: Flower your pikmin up. Raid the Opponent's group and with the weaker pikmin, get their item OUTTA THERE! The flower pikmin will easily over take the others if they're not bloomed. Helpful to get the Opponent's pikmin away and surprisingly better than having the flower pikmin get the item.
Enjoy!
