Still can't believe this happened. I thought they were porting the PC version to PS4 as a way of saying a remake isn't happening, so I did not expect this one bit. I thought the rumors popping up hours before the conference were just your typical E3 hype fare. And I saw this live at a theater, so the reaction was amazing.

I'm intrigued by this. It's coming to mobile first this summer, but we have to wait until winter for the PS4 version. There can be many reasons for this, but I wouldn't think that porting the game over to PS4 would take THAT long. Granted, I know nothing about the subject, but I wonder if it's being held back because of a possible FF collection for PS4? After all, I do remember hearing that Square wanted to bring the mainline Final Fantasies to PS4. But this is all speculation, of course. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hrmmmm... Where do I start? Where. Do. I. Start? I've been broken as a Final Fantasy fan. Let me say first that I've always enjoyed the Final Fantasy series. I was introduced during the PS2 era through Final Fantasy X. I even enjoyed the controversial Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 to an extent. In my opinion, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. It wasn't my favorite Final Fantasy, no, but it kept me hooked enough to Platinum Trophy it on my PS3. Why do I love Final Fantasy? Well, it's a myriad of things. Music, Gameplay, Story, usually; but of course, each game had different things going for it. I'm a very optimistic person. I don't like to complain or whine. But this Final Fantasy fan has become weary. The wait for Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III has taken its toll. And then there's the ending of Lightning returns, And then there's All the Bravest, which is a shameless cash grab. But that's not what broke me. I thought that maybe I could just overlook such weirdness in LR's story by enjoying the gameplay, and just dismiss All the Bravest. What broke me was these recent developments with the Final Fantasy X universe. I'll be honest, I was reluctantly accepting an X-3 when news of the audio drama broke out. It was weird, but it might work, I thought. But then news of the (apparently CANON) X-2.5 novella leaked out. Allow me to copy and paste this quote: "The reviewer's weren't kidding about the gore. Tidus sees a ball roughly the size of a blitz ball, and comes to the conclusion that that's what it exactly is. So he proceeds to run and kick it... explodes. It was a bomb. Yuna gets thrown back by the explosion.... along with Tidus' head which promptly lands by Yuna with his expression frozen with surprise. She promptly passes out. Yuna resurrects him using pyreflies, however it seems that if Tidus realizes what he is, he'll disappear (whether that means off to the Farplane, or from existence I'm not sure). It seems overall this explaination wasn't explained too well so it could be off the mark. This could explain though why she's seeming cold towards him in the audio drama." I laughed for a good thirty minutes or so. I think I was also crying as well. Say what you will about whether it might be untrue due to translation derps (there are multiple sources talking about how the bomb thing is real), or that it might be deemed non-canon. The fact that this was actually written is just..... I then promptly cancelled my Lightning Returns preorder on Amazon. I considered cancelling FFXHD, but I ultimately left it alone so I can play the games and I won't be touching the audio drama. I dunno. I just dunno anymore. If it were up to me, I would first get FFXV and Kingdom Hearts III done and make that a top priority, then rerelease all the games on all the main consoles (with FF 1-6 having high-res sprites and FF 7-9 remade with at least PS3 level graphics with high-res pre-rendered backgrounds), deem every sequel to numbered games as non-canon, and fire Motomu Toriyama. Argh. My head hurts, I have no clue if this is real life anymore. I'm broken and I lost the faith that I needlessly gave Square-Enix.

I think the funniest thing about this whole thing was the hype backlash with Nintendo's showing. I knew it was going to be a light showing, but a bunch of Ninty fans overhyped it and it came back to bite them. I think it's safe to assume that Ninty won't be surprising us anytime soon given the odd decisions they've been making. This is coming from a pretty big Nintendo fan, by the way. Some Nintendo Games I'd Love to See Come to Wii U/3DS
Wally replied to Shulk's topic in General Discussion
I would love to see a Pokemon Stadium game that's more like the N64 games and less like Pokemon Battle Revolution to be released that's compatible with X/Y versions. I remember sinking hours into Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2. It was a hard game, and I remember trying to assemble the perfect team by playing the game boy games on the Game Boy Tower. If they released that kind of game, with a feature that lets you play X/Y on your Wii U, a Pokemon manager, mini-games, secret event pokemon, a gym leader castle, and a dedicated online battling section, then I would buy it in a heartbeat. -
Ah, Visuagaminplatformenia Wartardus, the scientific name for the people you see in forums, game sites, and various Places Which Should Not Be Named who constantly voice very loud opinions on game consoles. To be honest, people shouldn't let their feathers get ruffled over what people say about stuff like that. It's video games, folks. Some things about some companies I may not like (Nintendo's region locking, Microsoft's mandatory Kinect for Xbone, Sony won't add backwards compatibility to PS4), but it never ever gets me worked up to the point where I just get plain angry like some other folks do. Wii U is an imperfect console but I love mine. That said, I hope Nintendo will continue to support the console and not allow long software droughts like they have for the past few months. PS4 is looking amazing. I can't get it at launch, but I plan to get one once I've earned enough cash for it and there's a healthy line up of games for it after the launch dust has settled. I'm probably not getting an Xbox One, but I'm glad they backtracked on some of that online check-in stuff. If they decide to make a true Banjo-Kazooie sequel that's more like the originals, I might have to shell out for it. Gaming is a privilege and not a right. If something bad happened in the world (nuclear war, giant meteor, zombie apocalypse, etc) guess which would be amongst the first things to say goodbye to in our daily lives? Just play the games and enjoy it on whichever console(s) you have. Don't let the angry nerds of the internet turn it into politics. We have enough of politics in the world.

GameStop/EB Games Giving Away Shiny Legendary Pokemon
Wally replied to Tails's topic in General Discussion
Wonder if this will unlock some event when you transfer them to X/Y versions. It happened with the shiny beast trio giveaway before B/W was released. -

Even despite all this, I'm still getting a PS4 for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV. But if Microsoft decides to release a good Banjo-Kazooie game, then I might have to get one just for that.

Looks like Microsoft and Sony fanboys have upped their salvo attacks against one another. Very entertaining stuff to watch.

Confirmed by Microsoft, link in first post.

Aye, I'm leery, but if they are removing it... then it's a step in the right direction.

http://kotaku.com/microsoft-is-removing-xbox-one-drm-514390310 Currently developing story, but... I remember they said they wouldn't backpedal on this. Guess they caved under pressure. =P Also, there are already Xbox 180 jokes circulating. EDIT: And here it is, straight from the horse's mouth: http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update
