TV My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Discussion thread
Dracozombie replied to Amon's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but apparently liking a show makes you a braindead dumbass. Any wonder why some of us like to keep quiet about it? -
Not sure. The way you wrote the equation is ambiguous. Pretty sure that's the point, but what do I know about math?

The crap she gets from everyone generally boils down to people whining about her uselessness because she can't fight and someone always has to bail her out. Smarter haters dislike how the importance of her character doesn't match her development. Me? For the person who's supposed to be the most important person of Sora's life, I don't know her like I do most of the other characters. She's kind and she does what she can for her friends, and that's pretty much it. Thing is, that describes all the other main characters for the most part, so the only thing that makes her stand out is her being a Princess of Heart--which doesn't get explored as much as it could be. She feels more like the friend of a friend, someone I only know on a superficial level. No matter how much I don't care for her, though, I refuse to side myself with the haters, if only because they have way too much fun at her expense. I don't have many thoughts on Kairi, but here they are: KH1: The chick who hangs out with the two guys. Turns into vegetable. Guys go to great lengths to save her, though technically she was safe the whole time. Is apparently special. CoM: N/A KH2: Sick of waiting around so she tries to do something about it. Proactivity gets her in trouble. Way to handle her character, game. Days: N/A BBS: Okay, you're pretty cute. Coded: N/A DDD: I have hope for you. I really do. Please do not disappoint. Bottom Line: Her contributions to the plot are passive, but that makes her boring compared to the other characters, whose contributions are all active. Still doesn't mean I get any pleasure bashing her.

u mad bro? Why would anyone give anyone permission to ruin your childhood? That's the way the internet works; opening connections to thousands of people who aren't you, and at least one of them, one day, will post something you don't enjoy or agree with. This is a place for Kingdom Hearts fans to chat about keyblades and Aqua's boobs and whatnot, and as long as it's within the rules, anything goes. If you don't like it, either get out or grow thicker skin like the rest of us.

Light. I'm too weak-willed to handle the negative effects of wielding darkness. Plus I know better than to talk to strange men.

wat wuld u do do have ur life like kingdom hearts?
Dracozombie replied to Kyle Clegg's topic in Random & Forum Games
Activate my self-destruct button because if it's not shadow thingies wrecking worlds and taking peoples' hearts, it's strange men in black coats screwing everyone over or bald keyblade wielders starting wars for their own curiosity, with your only hope being people with giant keys who might get there in time to save you. -
KH1: Sometimes the ends justify the means, and sometimes they don't. Good thing you wised up in the end. CoM: I believe everyone deserves a chance at redemption if they truly regret what they did. It's everyone else's choice to forgive you or not, but I do. KH2: The fruits of your labor. Yay. (And you are my favorite party member) Days: I don't think you pull off the cloak look. And, uh, good job on the whole "do what it takes to get your best friend back" thing (even if Roxas had to get screwed over in the process, but oh well), BBS: askghkehbneiaey YOU ARE ADORABLE coded: Uh... haven't played. But I don't think you count in this one. DDD: OHMAGAWD YOUR AWESOMENESS HAS INCREASED BY 20%

What life would be like without KH!
Dracozombie replied to LightningXIII's topic in General Discussion
There are plenty of fish in the sea; something else would've filled the void. Granted, it would be a big void to fill. -
Has a video game ever made you scream in fear?
Dracozombie replied to Lu Xun's topic in Poll of the Week
I can't recall ever screaming at scary films or games or whatever. Get startled, jump in my seat, laugh in appreciation at the successful scare, and when it's night and the lights are off and I'm alone, stay awake hoping that noise isn't whatever I think it is? Definitely. (This is coming from someone who likes ghosts and watches Silent Hill videos for inspiration... maybe I'm masochistic). -
Think about what you like to read/watch/play and start from there. The only one you should ask about what to write is yourself, no one else. Then jot down some notes, see what method to get your ideas out works for you. There are plenty of guides online that will help you get started. Go on writing forums if you so insist--this isn't really the community to be asking for writing advice.

I think just being able to get out of bed in the morning under your conditions takes a lot of guts.

I enjoy living for the here and now, too. There's no point to living if you can't appreciate what you have in the present. Stopping your cutting shows tremendous strength of will, so you should be proud. You've managed to last this long without breaking, and you're giving up? Your experiences may have given you a certain wisdom, but the fact remains that you're still way, way too young to be making the decision to give up on your entire life. Everyone wishes to be happy, but your life is still in the developing stages. The future is too abstract to imagine, so it can be hard to believe it's possible for things to get better. Getting through the day takes all that effort because being a teenager is a craptacular experience. You're expected to act like an adult but you receive none of the benefits. All that effort for little to no gain. If you have the energy to go through all that and still manage to function, I have a feeling life will have to put in some effort if it wants to kick your ass. You don't need to have a plan now because like I said, your future is too abstract for you to settle down. Take it one step at a time, like graduating from high school. When you have a better perspective, then you can start focusing on more concrete goals. Yes, it's more "realistic" to imagine you'll never get out of your social class, but focusing on pure realism makes life really... uh... not happy. I learned a lesson not too long ago about the importance of emotional investment and how you can't focus on pure realism and logic to get through life. Yes, there's pain if you don't reach your goal, but there's also the chance of happiness. Imagine a life where you don't need to live off cheap, fattening food, you have a home that's decent and a job you don't dread going to in the morning, and your car doesn't hate your guts. Logic and realism lets you reach your goals, but it's desire that sets them to begin with. Of course, it's hard to set goals like that when you're a teenager under your conditions. But tough it out. At least graduate high school. If you wanna focus on being realistic, the chances of getting a job without at least a high school diploma are slim. I wish more people would realize you need both logic and emotion to get where they need to be. Pure dreams and emotion gets you nowhere, but pure logic makes life unfulfilling. And if you want a story of a guy getting out of awful conditions to lead a decent life, go read about a Cracked.com writer named John Cheese. Grew up in an apathetic/abusive household and was a poor, alcoholic deadbeat until he was thirty. Now he has his own family with a decent home in a neighborhood where it's actually safe to walk out the door. That's the kind of dreams and emotions to strive for, and if you have wisdom and logic under your belt to help you reach them, then don't give up. Don't let life push you down.

Money won't make you happy. Money makes you stable, which will make you happy. You want to live poor? Do you know what poor is? And if you do, why would that ever be a goal? Ultimately, money doesn't matter much to many people, but living poor is a different, sometimes even greater hell than high school. Try living on paycheck to paycheck, squeezing out every last possible penny to keep yourself going, dreading that nothing goes wrong like your car breaking down because you don't have the cash to repair it, or injuring yourself because don't have the money to pay for the hospital bill because you might not have health insurance, or living off cheap, fattening food every day because you can't afford anything better. That's the life you wanna live? Just because "money means nothing to you?" What you mean is material things mean nothing to you. Money matters. Wait, circumstances "a long time ago?" You mean you've given up on the entire potential 80+ years of your whole existence because of what happened even earlier, when you were younger and still had even less experience under your belt? Wow. I now operate under the assumption you've set your your entire life path when you were in middle school and somehow know it's a fact absolutely nothing nothing nothing will change for the better in between then and later, whether because of the chips falling in your favor or you putting in the effort to get there because you care and you tried. But unless you were homeless and surviving with no one but your own wits and cunning to get you by, because your parents have all but disowned you and you have no friends to turn to, there's not much that can happen to a young'un that prepares them for real life. Maybe these past experiences have given you some wisdom. That doesn't mean you know everything about how the real world works. There are teenagers who, because of awful circumstances, do know how it does. Can you tell me you're one of them?

Tough it out like everyone else. What's four years of hell compared to a lifetime of poverty? You can't count on being one of the scarce, lucky few who manage to become successful despite dropping out of school. If you don't have a diploma, you most likely won't get anywhere beyond minimum wage jobs. Those can't support you by themselves, so you'd have to depend on social security. You say it's a fact you're gonna live a poor life and you're wondering why you should bother. Excuse me? You don't know crap. You're not even out of high school and you're already giving up on your whole life because your teachers are awesome and you're having trouble fitting in. I've got news for you: high school is the most god-awful years of your life because you're surrounded by overly cynical teens who only have a cursory idea of how the real world works, where you're judged for the most ridiculous things, and where the system almost seems designed to screw you over in the worst ways possible. You'll have way more responsibilities when you're an adult and you'll eventually learn first-hand just how many ways things can go wrong, but unlike in school, you'll actually have a chance of taking some semblance of control over the situation. Having an actual measure of freedom for what you can do in your life makes it worthwhile. There are actual, tangible benefits to slogging through hell. And at the very least, you can be the better person and not let the idiots around you push you down. What better way to show them than by living a decent life? Oh, wait, you won't have to show them up. You'll never see them again when you graduate. That's right, I said when. So suck it up and deal with it.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Magic Knight Rayearth, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and its sequels, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica (though that one's subbed, but I think a dub's gonna come out eventually).

kh endings favorites/thoughts
Dracozombie replied to kh Memories Skyskraper's topic in Random & Forum Games
BBS was the saddest. Nothing went right for Terra, Aqua, and Ventus. The only thing any of them accomplished was preventing things from getting worse than they could've been. Days was a contender, except the scale of the tragedies wasn't quite as big. -
Heh, thanks. The impression I got was that, when he looked happy and smiled them creepy smiles, it was because things were going according to plan. And they usually do. Dynamic to me means a character who changes and develops, and Xehanort's been pretty much the same in his appearances, so no, I don't think he's dynamic.
-
He's a scientist with a thirst for knowledge, and who's apathetic enough about the lives of others to do what it takes to reach the answers he craves. Xehanort has never been shown to do evil for evil's sake; the bad he caused was always part of a plan. I don't think any of it is outright malice. He just wants to know, no matter how much pain he causes in the process.

... says that I should make an introduction thread before I do anything here. Mmmyup.
