  2. It just wouldn't be FFVII without those silly scenes that help balance out all the existential and a-meteor-is-about-to-wreck-our-shit-gaiz world crisis issues. It even shares the problems I have with Cloud's non-FFVII portrayals. All in all, probably the most valid argument I've seen for why Cloud needs to dress up pretty.
  3. Probably for the same reason Namine got new duds: to make them distinct characters/to hide who they're related to, and because of the special circumstances of how they were formed.
  4. Does that mean there's a blonde-haired Donald drawing in a sketchbook somewhere?
  5. The story itself is a complicated mess, but the lore and the philosophies surrounding them gives KH more weight than you'd expect from the premise (funny how "fanfic story" is generally used as an insult). I won't argue whether or not its themes are explored to their fullest (if I had to dig deep, they're probably not), but there's some prominent existential themes going on: what it means to exist; what it takes to be your own person; how you're shaped by the sum of your memories, and destroying even one memory can potentially impact who you are as a person -- and how others view you; how bright lights cast the greatest shadows, which can mean the better/purer something is, the more the imperfections are prominent (think of a single black spot on an otherwise stark white painting, versus a white canvas filled with black spots). Even if the games themselves use those themes more literally than metaphorically (if you lose your memories, you actually disappear), the sentiment is still there, and it gives me something to chew on. And it doesn't matter whether or not my interpretations are correct, or if it's actually what the games had in mind -- the important part is that I can stop and analyze and think. Isn't that what depth is?
  6. None of them, but especially Riku and/or Terra since the fanbase has it out for them for some reason (why do "bad boys" have such a high casualty rate?). KH wrote itself into a corner for any protagonist's death to be meaningful without undoing the work it took to get them in a position to die. All this work towards saving everyone and atonement and giving folks a chance at their own existence, and you want them to be killed off again? We're this far in, so KH might as well preserve its own track record for not letting anyone die for good.
  7. What's the point of a budget if there's no room in it for a stupid Jurassic World raptor toy? Thank my best friend for managing to justify a poor but awesome financial decision.

  8. Hype leads to nothing but disappointment, so I'll continue on with detached optimism and accept the final product for however it is -- which will either be really awesome, really awful, or... just another horror movie that just happens to be about FNaF.
  9. It's too much effort to use my brain right now.

  10. I was planning on going to the beach at some point, but now that you bring this up I wonder if I can stick Kairi's letter in a bottle and blow someone's mind (or make a non-fan think they found someone's love letter for a mermaid).
  11. I took it to mean Riku thought that Xion's keyblade really isn't "hers," since she herself was fake and that she was was siphoning/copying the power from Roxas. Functionally, you're right, it doesn't seem to be different from anyone else's keyblades. Maybe it was the origin Riku was getting at. The artificiality probably isn't the same as the normal man-made keyblades, but it's hard to say since we don't know what exactly goes into keyblade manufacturing. (Now I'm picturing some sort of factory for mass keyblade production, complete with foreman holding a clipboard.)
  12. Meaningless jump scares annoy me. In fact, I think it's amusing how many indie horror games think they can scare me just by throwing some loud noises my way. It's like the game knows I'll get bored wandering around their empty Unity-based hallway. It can certainly startle me, but I can get started by a smiling picture of a cute ghost if it's sudden enough and accompanied by a loud noise -- a mechanic pointed out in (appropriately) Spooky's House of Jump Scares. FNaF4, on the other hand, can freak me out just by watching a Youtube video of it. No game in recent memory managed to accomplish that. In fact, I'd say it has the most effective use of jump scares I've seen in a long time, arguably even more than FNaF1. Oh snap, I went there. *snap*
  13. "Someone needs to die because it's the only way I can take KH seriously."
  14. Raining like a motherfiretrucker, thunder and all. It's like California is making up for all the heat lately, in the way an excessive apology winds up being more annoying than the slight. You're forgiven, California, so can I go someplace on my Saturday without geting apologize'd on?

As I mentioned, nothing exploded, so thankfully, virus = very no. But, I will admit that explosions would make for a very interesting day.

  16. Holy hell. I generally considered FNaF more interesting and unsettling than scary, but. Yikes. This actually looks scary. Too bad the trailer warned us ahead of time what we should be scared of. Dammit.
  17. Pretend you agree with him, move out of the house years later when you get the chance, and go back to liking what you like in peace. Or, just be more discreet in showing how much you like what you like so your dad will have less to make fun of.
  18. Birthday happy! You have enough cakes. Here are cookies instead.
  19. The "so-and-so is overrated so I don't wanna see it!" argument is just annoying. A lot more people would be happy to see, say, Frozen in the game, and it's a good business decision, so in that respect everyone wins. If your complaint revolves around too many people liking it, that's really your problem, not KH's. But for how much I might complain about certain worlds, at the end of the day I'd probably be cool with whatever appears. I'm more supportive of something when I see it in action, and we're not even in a good position to judge what would actually work. I mean, on paper, who but the weirdest fanboys think a Disney/Final Fantasy crossover would be a good idea?
  20. I can't eat nachos, drink cider, and play video games at the same time. Multitasking is hard.

      HeyMouseSayCheese

For one, that's EXACTLY what a life hax is. For two, PFFF, if you wanna wimp out and do things the proper and intelligent way, fine, but that's a piss poor way to celebrate America Day.

      This is true.

Unfortunately, my nachos are mostly consumed by this point.

I have no right to call myself 'Murican.

    3. MyDixieRect

      MyDixieRect

Why would you even want to? You have all those crumbs from your nachos stuck to your fingers, and rubbing them on your controller/portable console makes it feel all grimy and gross.

  21. The odd character motions and line deliveries. For better and for worse, there is no mistaking KH's cutscenes for any other game's.
  22. I count him as separate because Oathkeeper/Oblivion gives you a combo and limit break you can't use anywhere outside Mission Mode, except for the Deep Drive segment.
  23. Roxas, since he's the most familiar to play as. Plus it feels dishonest to earn those Mission Crowns playing as characters you can't otherwise use in normal gameplay. (Btw you forgot Dual-Wielding Roxas. Technically he's a separate player.)
