well, I think this is the reason they seem so eager suddenly to do digital sales on PC for final fantasy games. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/12/what-are-square-enixs-upcoming-large-scale-online-titles The whole article is about their financial report for the last fiscal year. according to the PDF compared to their last fiscal year, their income on MMO's is up from 11 billion yen to 20billion yen(differnce of 9billion yen, 88million dollars), and $10 says that's because of FF14. They must have finally realized there's JRPG fans on PC. 7 and 8 probably helped them realize this as well, but i don't think they made that big of an impact that they would be willing to put in the effort port over FF3 from PSP

being Dark is hardly what made shadow bad. The gunplay was absolutely fine, it was the lack of a map, different paths, and objective based game play that made it bad. and sonic 06 is no darker than the rest of the series, it just takes the darkness that's been done before individually and puts it together in a huge game. Destruction on a large scale, ancient monsters that want to destroy the world, death. all been done in SA1 and SA2.

but that's exactly the problem, the other members we're pretty shallow and this was their chance to make them seem less shallow, give them some complexity and instead they just focused on something completely irrelevant And as you point out in Days nobody wanted to hang out with Roxas, which is another big problem. Whenever we defeat a nobody in KH2 it's always "why Roxas?" Implying he was devoted to the organization and that everyone felt betrayed by him becoming sora. But we never actually see him develop a complex enough relationship with the others that would make them feel betrayed by him turning into Sora and going against them. And the game wouldn't have to be him angsting over who he is, they could have done a variety of things that would explore the organization and other members. maybe learn a bit more about the plot the CoB group had to topple the organization, seeing what exactly Riku and Mickey were doing during that year. They had a lot of possibility's to work with.

Your not taking into account something simple. how would some of these worlds even be implemented to include combat? I don't see how Lady and the Tramp could be done to include combat(also, they have has a cameo in traverse town) or brother bear. Even the pixar movies you think would just make the list gigantic, can't all be done -Toy story(1,2,3) Can't be done( could work as a collection world though) -Cars(1,2) couldn't work, 1 isn't designed in a way that combat would make sense in a world based around it, and cars 2 takes place around the world so that wouldn't work. -monsters(1,2) could work if we had the characters running around in monster suits -up, would work -bugs life, could work -ratatouille, couldn't work at all -Wall E, couldn't work due to why they are in space, it could be done as an alternate universe but I don't think the universe in Wall E has enough in it to merit being a separate universe. -finding Nemo, maybe -The Incredibles, Definitely could work -Brave, Unless we play as Kairi in some worlds it's not going to work simply because of the underlying theme, and Sora donald and goofy would just contradict it. so out of the 14 Pixar films, only 6 could be used as full fledged worlds, possibly 7 If we can visit worlds as Kairi

I've already mentioned the whole traveling between planets problem, and yes it is a legitimate concern, but you don't need to shout about it when I'm already agreeing with you. for all we know they could make it that Star Wars is part of an alternate universe. The themes that are in star wars are almost parallel to those in KH so it's not out of the question. As for Marvel I've said it before, we have Final Fantasy characters, and that is just as far from "Disney themed" as Marvel is. and As I've mentioned in a previous post, marvel inclusion wouldn't have to be done through NY city, they could easily use other things, maybe places like Asgard.

I don't get this..
Skyace 65 replied to Connected's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
because a lot of people went from PS2 to XBOX360, myself included. at the end of the day square is just covering all of their bases. @op I think a better question is why aren't the remixes coming to XBOX1 and PS4? unless they are planning to do 1 giant mega collection i don't get why 2.5 is only on PS3 -
1) It may have a wider appeal, but that still doesn't get rid of the fact that it still has a large appeal to children. lets look at something like Shrek, a lot of jokes and references that will probably go over children's heads but be completely understood by adults, that doesn't negate the fact that it's also a children's movie 2) I think the problem with Port Royal was the graphical limitations and how it didn't translate as well into game form as it could have, I liked it as well, but it didn't come over well compared to the other franchises that do because they are 2D and have simple character design. but Port Royal isn't representative of how all Live action movies will translate to the games, look at tron. both movies had very good translations into the game, though legacy in 3D could have had a stronger story drive, but that's more of an issue with the worlds being split because of 3D's overarching story, not the movie itself.

because It's going to become broken. KH has just about exhausted the most well known Disney films, there are a few left sure, but not enough to keep sustaining this franchise past KH3. Lets look at something like Olympus, it's been done to death and I never want to see it again in this franchise. It could easily be replaced with marvel stuff, more specifically a character in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, The collector. For those of you who don't know your comics, he basically goes around collecting stuff, including superheroes. We could have a new coliseum where the collector invites(or kidnaps) Sora and company to his ship to fight against heartless and or superheroes he's collected around the galaxy to learn more about them.

EDIT: meant to say fanbase in the title. Something I've been noticing around the KH3 forum for a while is just how closed minded this fanbase has become, but it hasn't really baffled me till i saw a thread about maybe KH characters in Disney Infinity. With all the stuff I'm seeing i just have to wonder, how the hell did this fanbase become so closed minded? The biggest instance of this has obviously been with suggestions of other Disney owned properties to be included in KH3, more specifically Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars. All the time i just see people going "It doesn't fit with Kingdom Hearts!" or "KH should stay pure disney!" and stuff generally along those lines. While everyone's entitled to their opinions the basis for this is just stupid. We're talking about a franchise that started off as a crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy, Final freaking Fantasy! put that on paper along with the other properties and say KH never existed and disneys thinking of a crossover to do, FF would be on the bottom of that list in terms of what we think would be successful. Next to nothing doesn't fit with KH. It's not even like these are franchises that are too mature to be adapted into the games, besides FF we have The World Ends With You, a game where you play as a kid who got shot and killed. Marvels done kid friendly before, look at Lego marvel, a competent game with a somewhat complex fun child friendly story. Star wars by nature is kid friendly, in fact the only concern i would have is that star wars takes place across the galaxy, and the world we see in KH is fragments of a planet and I'm not sure if they could make the universes physically mesh together well. In regards to the "keep it pure Disney" argument I've seen several times....you could not have a weaker argument to not include stuff like Pixar and the others. Just because something is a Disney movie, doesn't make it good, look at lone ranger, look at Mars needs mom's. being Disney=/=good, and having other stuff wouldn't make it any less of KH than it already is. now a quick comment about the Disney Infinity stuff. For those who haven't seen it. the argument that astounds me is basically "I don't want 10 year olds joining this franchise".........It's just....what the....how can anyone have that kind of thought? This is a franchise designed to appeal to children, it's rated E10, sometimes less, I'm sure many of us here joined the franchise at that age, maybe younger. I just.....you know what I mean. I just have to wonder how this of all fan bases can be so closed minded.

Kingdom Hearts in Disney Infinity?
Skyace 65 replied to Kevin_Keyblade's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
.....This series was designed to appeal to kids.... Also I'd like to point out, If they sold KH stuff as a set instead of individually, people would probably buy it for Donald and Goofy. -
marketing can't save a bad system, your talking about it like the wiiU is an unappreciated gem when that's not true. even with marketing the casual crowd wouldn't get it, why? because what made the wii successful is the motion gimmick, that's what drew in the families and casual gamers, when Nintendo tossed that to the side(and low price) they lost that audience. And without graphics power they lost the core gamer audience who will get every other system instead. in regards to the prior install base comment, Nintendo handhelds have a prior install base for KH, their consoles do not. thats not to say the crowds overlap, but your making it out to be that everyone who had a DS or 3DS and played a KH game has a wiiU and is missing out when that's not true.
-
if most nintendo gamers owned nintendo consoles and handhelds than the wiiU would be selling a lot better than it is now. the fact of the matter is it would cost too much to develop and delay the main game releasing. plus they wouldn't even be able to charge that much for the wiiU version since it would be so underdeveloped to the PS4 version, they would only be able to charge like 30$ for it(there would be outrage if the better PS4 version and weaker wiiU version both cost 60$). Xbox1 version is profitable because it runs on very similar architecture to the PS4(64bit) so it doesn't take a lot of resources to port it over, and even if sales are low they would still make a lot of money off of wholesale to video game stores.

before i start I'm just going to say this, I liked days as a game, i think it's game play could have been a lot better, but overall it was enjoyable and so was the story. One of the things KH is known for is the complicated story, especially with the exposition the side games give. but looking back, Days was needlessly complicated and focused on the wrong thing, Xion. I have no problem with her character, but if you look at the series as a whole she has no reason to exist, there is no revelation about the overall story arc that she provides, she doesn't expand upon Ansems plot. she just exists as more convolution that does nothing to move the overall series plot forward. you could take her out of cannon and nothing would change. The thing that really annoys me about it is her screen time (and focus on her story)should have been used for the other organization members and maybe Mickey and Riku. we get an entire game about Roxas and his time in organization 13, but none of the other organization members get expanded upon personality wise or back story wise, you gotta admit that it would be interesting to learn about what everyone was like before becoming a nobody(especially Demyx) it just feels like the games central story was needless convolution and such a wasted opportunity. If you like the story as it is that's fine, I'm just saying it could have been much better if done differently. P.S I'm not someone who dislikes Xion as a whole, i just hate the way she was used. I think it would have been great if she was a non-organization nobody Roxas met sometimes on his travels.

you win the internet cartoonish=/=easy to render, ugh your just as bad as the people on the sims 3 forums. this isn't a simple "oh lets lower the settings" type of thing. these assets weren't made to have lower resolution textures, they weren't made to be able to use less polygons, they were made as something specifically high quality. it would have to be remade entirely which won't happen because it would cost to much to do for too little payoff, and right now square can't afford to just throw money around. end of story
-
yes, and the alpha is already too graphically intense to be rendered on the wiiU. there is no way in hell the wiiU could render the fight with the titan with that much detail. as for watch dogs the version put on the wiiU is graphically inferior to the PS4/XBOX1 version. The reason it's being done is because they already have lower end graphics available because they had to make them for the PC versions different settings.
-
ugh, the fact that i still see these posts about "lets bring KH3 to wiiU!" is ridiculous, so i figured time to make something to stop these future threads. bottom line, it's not and can't come to the wiiU, why? Reason 1, the graphics. Anyone who has seen the latest trailer has seen just how detailed the graphics are and how great the lighting system is. the wiiU can't handle those graphics, it's only slightly more powerfull than PS3/XBOX1. it can't handle the graphics the game has right now. to put it on there would require the game to be rebuilt with completely new lower level graphics to get it to run on WiiU(something that happened with cross platform games that wen't on the wii) it's too much time and effort for them to do. Reason 2, the wiiU sales. Besides having to remake the graphics entirely, the console is still selling extremely poorly and has a high chance of failing. No sane person could convince the corporate guys at square to put it on wiiU with completely new graphics having to be done, for the small target audience it has available to it. Now i know some people will say "but what about those who want to buy the system for the game!" Obviously yes, KH is a system seller for some people, but anyone looking at it logically would see that the wiiU version is watered down graphically and possibly feature wise as well(with 8GB of ram on PS4, we could have worlds with no seperate sections that need to be loaded) and decide to save up an extra 50$ for a PS4 for a better version Reason 3, manpower. lets say reason 1 and 2 don't even exist and console sales and rebuilding the game(and more money needed) wouldn't be an issue. you would need a pretty big second team of people to build the second version, more people would cost more that square probably wouldn't want to do, so people from the main team would have to be broken off to work on it delaying the games release even more. TLDR, it's not coming to wiiU.

"Why didn't you buy 1.5?" because i don't have a PS3, "why won't you buy 2.5" because i don't have a PS3..
