No. I don't think this would work. While many of the characters have their parts to play in the story, I think it would end up distracting us from the main story involving Sora and would create too many loose ends. The story is already so complicated, having it follow multiple characters would cause more problems and many of the characters aren't as important to the story as they used to be.

The Roles Of Roxas, Namine and Xion
clatter411 replied to Firaga's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
See this is what sort of drove me crazy about Kingdom Hearts 3D. It brought back characters whose roles in the series had been completed. At the end of Kingdom Hearts 2 Namine and Roxas both had satisfying endings. They were back as their original selves and didn't fade into darkness. They were going to be whole and see each other everyday. Axel sacrificed himself to redeem his kidnapping of Kairi and Xion having been not remembered by anyone, had already completed her purpose of giving Roxas the motivation he needed to turn against the Organization. So when Kingdom Hearts 3D announced the return of these characters I was peeved. Not because I didn't like these characters because I really do like them, but it made their previous endings seem artificial and less heartfelt. As an example, Axel's death in KH2 isn't sad anymore since he didn't really sacrifice anything and in fact regained his humanity. Another issue is the over saturation of characters in the series. there are sooo many main characters now that I am worried what Nomura is going to do with all of them. Sora is the confirmed main character of the series so what happens to all of the other characters once the Xehanort saga is done? Can you just have Roxas live the simple life in Twilight Town? I don't think the fans would like him not having any action anymore. This is sort of why I feel the other characters should have remained as they were. This way the series doesn't have as many main characters to give endings too and it allows us to concentrate on the main story. I just am worried about how this is going to all play out. I really do believe things would have been more satisfying and the story would be better if Roxas, Namine, Xion, Axel, and the Organization had remained where they were and had not been brought back. I hope Nomura can make this work becuase I would hate to see these characters tarnished when they already had such good endings. -
Theory on Lea's role in KH3
clatter411 replied to Charles Matthews's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Well I do see some problems with this theory. The first being that the Kingdom Hearts series is CLUTTERED with characters. Kingdom Hearts 3D hinted at a return for Roxas, Xion, Namine, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua all people who have major roles in the series. When you include them with Sora, Donald, Goofy, Riku, Kairi, and King Mickey along with Lea you have too many characters to know what to do with. I think adding the other organization members would over saturate a game series already too saturated with characters who need the loose ends to their stories tied up. I do agree with your point however that Lea is the type of person to travel alone. So whatever his role in KH3 is, I imagine it probably has to do with information gathering or saving Saix. I do also disagree with the people who say he will team with Kairi since: A. He isn't a team player B. Kairi's place is with Riku and Sora, and having her partner with someone like Lea not only doesn't make sense, but would completely shove her character to the side when they finally hinted at giving her more screen time in Kingdom Hearts 3D and her relationship with Lea is not important. -
KHBbS Who is your favorite Birth by Sleep character?
clatter411 replied to gamemaster2007's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
The answer for me is Aqua. Although I like Ventus a ton as well since I view him as what Roxas should have been personality wise but that's a whole different topic lol. The reason I like Aqua is that she is good to the point of being self sacrificing. The entire story she was trying to keep Ventus safe and Terra away from the darkness. She acted almost like a mother figure to them but also allowed them space to make their own mistakes without being smothering. She is also very powerful unlike a lot of the other women in the Kingdom Hearts universe and knows how to take care of herself. But the simple fact that she is willing to sacrifice herself for Ventus and Terra really made her character stick out. I also really like Willa Holland's voice for Aqua as it really adds to the character for me. -
To be fair I sort of see this happening with most games. While there still are commercials for games, the majority of gamers find out information about the game online and so it isn't necessary for them to release a televised trailer. I mean whenever I hear about a new Kingdom Hearts game it's always from here first. As for new coming players, they also have definite ways of finding out about the series other then televised commercials. I think the mode by which games are advertised is changing but not disappearing especially with TV declining rapidly in recent years in lieu of streaming services and internet usage.

This is a rather interesting story. What got me into Kingdom Hearts was the box art for the original North American release of Kingdom Hearts on the PS2. I had been shopping for a birthday present for my friend and knew that he liked video games so I had gone to Gamestop with my family in order to pick something out for him. I had been passing by the PlayStation 2 games when I saw it out of the corner of my eye. There was something whimsical and magical about it and it captivated me immediately. The dark heart shaped moon illuminating the characters, Sora looking off into the distance holding the Keyblade with Riku and Kairi around him, the dark city in the background; I was entranced! When I picked it up and examined it more closely and saw the Disney aspect of it as well I was riveted! Having grown up with Disney movies and having a growing interest in anime at the time I found my self compelled to buy the game. I was around 11 at the time and bought Kingdom Hearts for my friend even though I knew he wouldn't like it. (I know..... I was one of those kids). When he opened it he seemed surprised but not all that interested in it. But he decided to let me play it. The birthday party was set up as a birthday sleepover with a bunch of other boys from our class. I took the game into a back room with a separate TV and played it by myself for HOURS not even bothering to interact with the other boys since I was completely spellbound by this game. Once I had turned on the game and had begun watching the cut scene it was like I had entered another world. The art, music, and story were beautiful and it was the combination of all aspects of stories I had ever come to love. I was almost done with the Tarzan world when I finally fell asleep. After playing so much of it, I had completely fallen in love with the story and the characters and begged my parents to get me the game for myself. Ever since then I have been completely hooked and have gobbled up every Kingdom Hearts game I could get my hands on. TL,DR: Captivated by the box art, drawn in by the story.

I don't want to sound rude but, that isn't a very good idea. Originally I thought you meant game original worlds like Twilight town, Traverse Town, or TWTNW and I was like "Cool, I'd be down with that." (Note: I apologize for this rant below although I do mean what I say, just not in the rude way I wrote it.) I really wish people would stop posting about adding content not related to Disney/Square. Just because you like something does not mean it should be included. I love pizza. But I don't want there to be a pizza themed world where Sora becomes friend with a pizza slice. The worlds included HAVE to fit the tone and feeling of Kingdom Hearts and unfortunately, there are almost no properties that fit this tone. Marvel is too mature, Star Wars' characters wouldn't be able to stand Sora talking about friendship, Disney Channel shows are usually not even good and don't revolve around fighting (which KH does), and all these other suggestions (MLP? really?) are just people trying to squeeze as many of there interests as possible into the game hoping that it makes it better. But if we all took our fanboy/fangirl glasses for a second and really compared these things, we would see that decisions like this would ruin Kingdom Hearts. To be fair, the ONLY way Dracula would work in Kingdom Hearts is if he and his story went through a Square Enix makeover. Then it MIGHT work. Also I apologize for the rant. To be honest, while I don't agree with your idea, it isn't the worst. Dracula would have a better chance of fitting into the series than MLP.

I agree! The tension between the two is too much! I need me some sweet SoraxJiminy action!

You bring up interesting points. Now keep in mind that only Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 really had the capacity for npcs. (I felt like I was the only man on earth in BBS, RECOM, Days, and RECODED. It gave off a really depressing feeling) Yes they were lacking however and would be nice if there were some interesting little side quests that gave the npcs a little more life and personality or if the things they said changed with more frequently according to the plot. As far as the worlds go yes there should be a little more in the ways of exploration. But then again Kingdom Hearts' is Japanese and unlike most American games which have open worlds to explore most Japanese games don't (although this has begun to change in the past decade). Not to mention the fact that since the game is primarily focused on telling the story, the worlds are designed almost exclusively for that purpose, which does have drawbacks since it makes returning to some worlds during end game pointless. These are all of the points of yours that I more or less agree with. Now as for some of the other things. I am not really sure what you mean about the game focusing too much on Disney. The game's staple is the incorporation of Disney characters and Final Fantasy characters so this will definitely never change. But I did agree with what one user said on here a long time ago that the Disney aspects have become ways to fill up the game and aren't really relevant to the story. In Kingdom Hearts 1 all of the Disney villains for the most part were deeply rooted in the plot. Also, the inclusion of the princesses of heart really helped with this as well. But In every other Kingdom Hearts game, the Disney elements are just there for the sake of being there and have no relevance to the plot. The Organization and Master Xehanort were the main villains and only scenes in which these characters appeared advanced the story. Almost any other scene from a Disney themes world could be cut out cause it didn't advance the story. Because of this I feel that the Disney characters and the world's they reside in need to take a larger role in the plot. Otherwise all of the Disney content is just there for the sake of nostalgia. AS for the tone of the games, there really is not much wiggle room there. They could make the plot a little more mature but not by much. As I stated above the staples of this game include Disney. So the tone is going to remain lighthearted and isn't ever going to change much since Disney is mainly for kids. Final Fantasy games on the other hand are more teens and young adults and therefore can add many mature themes and characters to the plot. But with Disney on the bandwagon, the characters are going to act more like Disney characters. So on this front its more of a take it or leave it scenario. Sora is always going to talk about how his friends are his power. Overall I think you make some great points. Since Kingdom Hearts 3 is the first main console game since 2005, I believe that exploration, and the relevance of npcs will increase since the hardware has drastically improved since the PS2. But like it or not the Disney elements and the tone of the game will not change much. But I hope you can enjoy the game anyway! Who knows? Maybe I'm wrong and they will make it the Kingdom Hearts game of your dreams! But we will just have to wait for more info on KH3........... which never comes...... (Release more info Square! A few screenshots? A world list? an interview? a trailer? Anything?!)

Ok these are the two that gave me tons of trouble as well. Xemnas is by far much easier than Luxord. Xemnas is just a standard battle in two parts. For his first form I find that jumping and using aerial combos on him helps avoid his hand sabers. At one point he has an attack that is inescapable and he just hits you over and over again with his sabers. You can tell this is coming when the background gets slightly darker. Just let him hit you and use a hi potion or cure. His second form is a lot harder. the first problem stems from a glitch in the game. When he throws you into the air half the time the reversal reaction command doesn't appear for whatever reason. To compensate for this most people use Riku's limit Final Session as you are invulnerable while you are using it. The majority of the battle is the same as it is in story mode version. Avoid the two large orbs of energy by dodge rolling or using quick run and if you time it right you can bypass them and get close to Xemnas. If health gets low or you need magic, Limit form is always a good way to go. Using Sonic Blade can help in a tight situation and can get some good damage in. But revert if no damage is being done cause at least you will have a full magic bar. The major problem I had was when Sora gets captured and you have to use Riku. He does this at least once during the battle and sometimes multiple times. If Riku takes four or five hits from the Xemnas clone it's over. Concentrating and using an attack or two on the clone either with the keyblade (preferred) or Dark Aura can help. Don't use Riku's shield as I can never figure out the timing. Just try your best to avoid the clone and get to Xemnas asap. You should be able to read when you can attack the clone after a few attempts. Other than that it's just the standard Xemnas battle. Luxord is the most annoying of the data Organization battles. The best way to play is to have reflect in the shortcut menu. Whenever he says "A challenge is it?" Use reflect over and over instead of accepting his game. this will prevent you from being damaged and from having your time meter affected. Just bash him with the keyblade and ignore his cards all together. The only games of his you are required to play are the one where he turns into a card and says "Look Closely" This one's easy. The second one however will make or break the battle. This is his desperation move. He only uses it toward the end of the battle and will continue to use it until the battle ends. He will summon very large cards to surround Sora and will say "Do you know the rules?" At this point all of the options in the command bar alternate between X and O. You need to select each command on an O. BUT every time you get one right the rest switch faster and faster making it very hard. Some people recommend the pause method. After the first or second O pause the game. if the next icon you need displays an X select it immediately after exiting the pause menu because chances are it will change to an O the second you unpause it. But the pause method does not always guarantee success. If you lose his desperation move you will notice a VERY LARGE portion of Time in your meter will transfer to his. DO NOT PANIC. He will continue to use his desperation move over and over at this point and realistically you can play the game at least 3-4 times per battle before you run out of time in your meter. It does not matter how little or how much time you have left in the time meter because if you beat his desperation game all of the time in his meter will disappear and then you can finish him off with a combo. In the end I beat Luxord's desperation game by luck lol. I hope all of this information helps. Good Luck!

This is an interesting topic. I think that Studio Ghibli is one of the only properties outside of major Disney animated films and Pixar films that would actually fit the tone of the Kingdom Hearts series. Unfortunately since Studio Ghibli is not a Disney property, this is extremely unlikely.

Hey again guys, I feel like an idiot for posting more then one topic today needing help but whatever. Im playing KH2 on standard and have already saved clear data. I have been spending the ladt several weeks completing the journal in order to unlock the secret ending, which with your help I did just minutes ago. After completing the journal, I replayed the Xemnas fight and rewatched the ending. I did not see the secret ending. I then resaved clear data and checked theater mode... nothing. So did I forget something? To clarify I'm speaking of the 'birth by sleep' secret ending and not the 'gathering' ending as I already have that.

KH2 Data Luxord Advice/Strategy

Hey thanks everyone, I beat him! You guys are great! ^v^ -
Hey everyone, I have finally made my way through lingering will, all themushroom challenges, and 12 of the 13 data battles. Unfotunately no matter how many times I try I cannot beat Luxord's DM game. Does anone have any advice that can help me finally defeat him once and for all? It's just that one game at the end giving me trouble. I hope to hear from you guys! =D

Did they change the requirements for unlocking things in birth by sleep? I just recently finished all of the characters stories in standard mode and yet I have blank points and the secret episode. I was under the impression that to unlock them you needed to complete the reports section for all of the characters to get that on standard. So did they change things? Was it just a fluke?

I know they usually release info at shows such as tgs but in the past they have released interviews periodically that reveal some info. Realistically I'd say at e3, but there might be something in February or March although thars probably just hopefulness on my part. And even if they did it wouldn't be a trailer or an image. It would be a short interview or maybe an announcement of a world.

I have a good idea!
clatter411 replied to VenxFox34's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
Im not against this idea and do like it, but I just find its implementation being incredibly unlikely. -
No they won't. With a game series like this Sora and Kairi will never get together. The forming a of a relationship will probably be hinted at and teased but will most likely never go beyond that. This is mainly because any romance between them would distract from the main plot and if Nomura wanted it to happen Kairi would have played a larger role in the series so she had more interaction with Sora. That's just my two cents.

I doubt anyone will see this but this is my take on it. Bill Farmer is a professional voice actor, I can hardly believe that he is providing his voice to something without knowing what it is. But, there is also no way kh3 will be released this year. I've been mulling this over and have come to what I believe to be the most rational conclusion. He mixed up kh3 with kh3d. They sound similar. This would make sense considering that Nomura wants the series on one console and 3d is the only one yet to be brought to the PS3. Considering the fact that kh3 is probably a year or two away it makes more sense that they are remastering 3d and he is providing additional voice work for that. Now of course I could be wrong so I'm not taking much stock in this as its only a guess, but that's the best answer I can come up with.

List one video game you think ruined their franchise.
clatter411 replied to Exiblade7's topic in General Discussion
It really depends on the series and how important story and continuity is. Mario games are not really connected from one to the next so if one game is bad they can just make it up with the next one. But series like kingdom hearts where the story in one game directly effects the others one game can ruin everything. Although there has not been a game in any series I have played that has done that yet. There certainly have been numerous small elements that have begun to build up that annoy me. Whether or not they ruin the series depends on future titles.
