Duo held up his hands trying to look innocent, "She made me! She told me I owed her for making her watch Basis when she didn't want to touch him, she called his a slimy over sized toad," he said, "And anyway, the judges didn't say anything, even though that lighting of from the arrows were very noticeable, but I'd rather not take a chance like that again," Duo saw Zeta glare at him for ratting on her, but his attention turned to Alexia, she kept talking to her staff, it seemed odd, but Duo talked to Balis a bit too seriously even for a pet. Duo have her a moment just as she asked, then when he thought she was finished went over to her, "I'm guessing your staff has some way to communicate with you huh?" he asked her

Balis had come into the room, he walked up to Duo on the floor and greeted his master. "Nice to see you too," he told the lizard. Duo eventually got up and met Alexia on the stands, "That's the last time I runic magic," he said, "So it's Sync's turn now right? What Kingdom is he representing?" Sync never did tell them where he was from, at least now they could see by the way he fought. He looked out towards the arena, heand Alexia really tore it up, and some of the stadium workers were replacing the broken tiles

The two spells made an earth shattering explosion. It was a wonder no one was hurt, the dust settled and Duo saw that Alexia was in the ground, people were chanting his name, "DUO!DUO!DUO!DUO!" shouted the crowd. Duo had won, but he was really worn out, runic magic could take a lot of of someone. He walked over to Alexia and helped her up. He walked with her to back into the locker room, "You were great out there by the way Alexia," he told her, "Oh, and can I pass out yet?" he feel over, tired from the amount of effort needed to successfully use runic magic.

"That's what I'm talking about!!" Duo screamed. Duo knew that she was on her last legs, and if she was pulling out an all of attack, Duo wouldn't hold back, just as he promised. Duo began to rapidly speak an old runic language, storm clouds began to swirl in the sky above him. His quickly spat out words in the old tongue, runes written in lightning appeared in a circle around him, lightning surged around him, and the biggest lightningbolt yet stuck him, feeding him power. Duo absorbed all of the lightning, "I can feel the storm surge inside me," Duo spoke on last word in the runic language before firing a giant beam of lightning. From the circle of runes small trails of lightning fed into the giant beam, making it take shape. It formed itself into what resembled a giant electric lizard, it appeared to be Balis as a matter of fact. The two spells met with a catastrophic force, the two attacks were at a stalemate. The only thing Duo could do was hold on and see if he would come out on top

Duo spun around, caught off guard. He only had time to shoot down a few of the light shots with some lightning before the rest hit his body. The shots knocked him back, but he was other wise okay, he stood back up and dusted himself of. "I must say, that was rather impressive," Duo's legs began to crackle with lightning, "Did you know, that in nature, lightning starts from the ground up, we only see it strike coming down cuz how fast it is. With that in mind, I can do stuff like this!" Duo jumped, lightning shooting from his legs, sending him rocketing upwards. He flipped around in the air and ended up upside down, right above Alexia. Duo dropped bolts of lightning on top of her, then quickly feel back to the ground on the other side of her. Duo wasted no time, and began to unleash bolt after bolt of lightning at Alexia. Duo's feet began to crackle, he spun around and swung his legs, sending two waves of electricity at her.

Duo watched as the storm of spears flew at him, and on top of this Alexia was charging in with a crystal scythe. Duo made four small orbs that floated on front of him, Duo snapped his fingers and the orbs connected themselves with lines of lightning, making a large rectangle. The empty middle of the rectangle then filled itself with lightning and became quite solid. The crystal spears did little as they hit and harmlessly shattered against the lightning wall, "Like that? I call this Thunder Glass, it works as a shield and as an amp, here let me show you what I mean," Duo fired a thunder beam from his fingers at the Thunder Glass, the entire wall of lightning began to glow, then a large beam the size of the Thunder Glass was fired at Alexia.

Alexia made the first move, attacking with slashes of light. Duo raised his arms and called upon a giant thunderbolt, it struck Duo, enveloping him in thunder, which shielded him from the light slash. He quickly spread his arms making the lightning disperse, he brought his hands together, creating an orb of lightning between them. Duo spread his arms again, making the own grow rapidly until it was several times larger than Duo. He reared back, brought one foot forward and threw the giant ball of lightning with all his might.

The time came for the first competitors to start, so Duo was lead to a sort of locker room that lead to the arena where he and Alexia would complete. Balis was left with Noah and Zeta, but it took awhile because Balis had become quite attached to Alexia, and wanted to stay with her. Duo walked out to the arena, hearing the huge clamor of the crowd that eagerly waited for the tournament to start. Duo took his place in his corner of the large arena, which was a slightly raised platform comprised of many tiles. The tiles were designed with the crests of the four Kingdoms, Duo stood in the center of a tile with the East Kingdom crest. He looked across the arena and waited for Alexia and the announcer to begin three tournament.

Duo started at the names wide eyed, "Well, that's certainly interesting," He turned to Alexia, "Yeah, no hard feelings, but I hope you don't expect me to go easy on you," Duo reached out his arm for Balis to climb on to, but Balis wouldn't come to him, "Balis? Oh don't you go and switch sides on me!" The familiar made an odd hiss and climbed onto Duo's shoulders, it sounded like Balis was laughing, "Man, you just love to mess with me don't you?"

You clutch you chest from the pain, feeling the relief of air finally able to come back into your lungs. You turn in your side to look at Natalie, who smiles at you, "It looked like you need help, and I couldn't stand to see you get hurt any more,". She turned her attention to Krista then, and rushed forward attacking with the metal rod. Krista savagely attacked right back, sending spheres, walls, columns, and every other shape and form of energy at Natalie, but she wasn't deterred. Natalie spun around with extreme grace, dodging anything too large, and her staff easily smashed anything else sent he was. Krista panicked, and soon wasn't even aiming, only desperately trying to hit Natalie, who eventually made her way to Krista, closing the gap. With a swift spin of her body and her staff, Natalie gave a solid jab with the end of the staff into Krista's stomach, then quickly brought the end up, slamming it into her chin. Krista was stunned, her focus lost and the wall of energy the kept them all in the small alley fall, allowing Molly to run in and come by your side, "Molly," you say a little weak, still slightly struggling for breathe. She pulls you in for a hugthen gives you a quick and sharp slap across your face, "That's for almost kissing her," she said half jokingly, the other half genuinely angry. Krista was letting rage and desperation get the better of her, she had taken quite a beating from Natalie. Krista screamed many obscenities at you three, then looked at you with death in her eyes, "If you won't die, I'll make you wish you would!!!" she screeched and leaped at Molly. The booth of them rolled around, scratching and clawing at each other. Natalie helped you up and observed the scene beside you. The two girls both got up, looked at you and screamed at the same time, "Get her!" the two looked at each other and then at you again, taking at the same time once more, "She's Krista! Her! Get her!" This was frustrating, "Damnit, Krista! This cliche? You're really going with this damn cliche?!" Krista did have a slight but noticeable age difference, but somehow this difference went away during their little scrap, perhaps she had some sort of age altering power, "Conner, c'mon, you know it's me," the one on the left said, "Conner, don't let her trick you again, its me, I'm Molly," said the one on the right. You pull out the Devil's Fang, pointing it at one then the other, "Enough, I know how to decide who's who," the point of your dagger kept going back and forth, which kept the two girls quiet and obedient, "Whoever answers thus question right is Molly, so here goes. What's my real name?" you ask, letting the question settle over them The one on the left just started at you, looking betrayed, "But...Conner, you never told me your real name," she looked defeated and sad. The one on the right smirked, "I told you she was the fake. Your real name is Lucas...isn't it?" she said the last part as you shot her an icy cold glare, "...wrong answer..." the blade of the Devil's Fang shot forward, piercing the right one's knee. She looked down, not quite registering what just happened, but once she did, she screamed in pain, the blade extended far enough to go through her leg and stick into the ground. The blade recedes and Krista falls to her knees. "How...h-how did you know?" she said shaking. You give her the same cold glare before answering, "Molly's right, I never did them her my real name," Krista begins to sob, "You're a monster, if you're expecting mercy by crying you can forget it," The blade of the Devil's Fang flies forward and pierces her heart.

"Its fine, I'm more than capable of fighting by myself," Duo smiled at the sight of Balis being petted, "He seems to really like you," Balis was really enjoying himself, and went from Alexia's shoulders to her lap Duo chuckled a little them looked at all the people around them, "I wonder how many people are here,"

Duo was at the sign-up counter, he had just got his number for the tournament, 24, when Balis had poked his head of it Duo's coat, calling attention to the counter worker, "Excuse me, but what is that?" she asked Duo. Duo looked quizzically at her and then a Balis before saying, "Oh, this is Balis, he's my familiar," he explained to the counter worker, who shook her head, "I'm sorry, but rules state that if your going to compete, your familiar cannot compete with you, for safety reasons. We'd rather not let your familiar be injured," she explained. Duo was very disappointed, "Oh, well if those are the rules..." Duo walked over to where everyone else was waiting and say down, "I'm sorry Balis, looks like you'll have to sit this one out," he told the lizard who his sadly, "Alexia, when I go out to complete, could you please watch Balis, he's not so well behaved on his own, especially when he gets disappointed like now," Balis had then crawled out of Duo's coat and gently crawled onto Alexia's shoulders

Duo laughed as Alexia struggled with the scarf, "Alright, lets go then, Blais will be able to find us as we go along,". Duo followed Zeta and Noah, going up further into the mountains. They weren't kidding when they said it was going to get colder, chilling gusts blew Duo's coat, making it billow about giving it the appearance of a cape. A bush meant Alexia began to rustle rather abruptly, it was Balis, who had a couple of large birds in his jaws, "Thank goodness, I'm starving," Balis dropped the birds and climbed into his master's coat for warmth. Duo snapped his fingers, making a lightning bolt fall from the sky and strike the birds, quickly and effectively cooking them. Duo grabbed two sticks and jabbed on of them for himself and another for Alexia, "Dig in, Balis should of already gutted these birds and cleaned them as well," he told her, biting a chunk of meat off

Duo woke up with Balis lightly tapping his face with his tail, "Okay, okay Balis, I'm up already," Duo got up and stretched. He walked outside the cave and looked around, "I'm hungry..." he said looking to Balis, "Do you think you could get some good for everybody Balis?" he asked his familiar, who hissed and went off to find some small animal. Duo noticed that Alexia was outside also, "Morning," he said to her, "I've sent Balis to find some food if your hungry," he told her

Duo yawned and sat next to the wall if the cave, resting his back against it. He heard a hiss to his left and saw Balis was at his side, after spying on Sync. The large lizard climbed onto Duo's lap and closed its eyes, immediately falling asleep. Duo thought of his travels as he leisurely drifted to sleep. Duo's parents were court magicians to the King of the East Kingdom, and just as Duo has traveled around, learning from many different teachers, so did his parents. When Duo was born, a tragic illness had befallen his parents, so Duo had never really knew them. Duo smiled just before falling completely asleep, "If only you could see me now," he whispered.

Duo was impressed with Alexia's crystal technique, "Your crystals are too fragile huh? I think I can help you with that, let me try it," Duo made a small on of lightning between two of his fingers, "I'm gonna try to do the same thing as you, so hold on," Duo released the ball and let it float away a few feet. Duo snapped his fingers and in a crackling display, an electric blue crystal was floating in place of the small orb. "Making things out of magic, for me at least, is all about give and take," Duo explained, "Using too much or too little can make all the difference. Too little and there's just enough magic to maintain its form, too much and is much harder to maintain it then. When I first made that ball of lighting, I predetermined view much magic went into my crystal, so I knew I could maintain it. Just conjuring it right away is harder to guess how much magic goes into what you're making,"

"Light magic huh? I'm trained in Lightning magic myself, that and using familiar magic to amplify the lightning that I can make," Duo told her as he thought of what he should do as a teacher, "Well, you said you wanted to better your abilities, what kind of stuff can you do? Maybe then I can give you some pointers,"

Duo ripped a generous half from his fish and held it up for Balis to take, who happily snatched it from his hands. After Duo ate the rest if his fish, he stood up and turned to Alexia, "Well if we're not going anywhere until tomorrow, how's about I help you with your magic?" He walked over to a clear part of the cave so whatever magic was made wouldn't hurt anyone. Duo was playing around with his fingers to make sparks as he walked, Balis poked his head from the coat, "Balis, keep an eye on Sync, but be quiet," he whispered. No one was looking, so no one noticed how Balis's scales seemed to flip around, allowing the lizard to change color, blending into the surroundings.

Balid hissed at Sync, the familiar didn't like this person. "It was just a warning shot, I wasn't aiming for anything in particular, sorry if I almost got you," Duo said unmovingly. Duo trusted his familiar's instinct, and just as Balis didn't trust this guy, neither did Duo. "That quite the mask you have, do you mind if I ask what kingdom your from?" Duo asked as Balis hissed one last time before climbing back into his master's coat.

Balis hissed and climbed down from Duo's back. Balis crawled towards the entrance of the cave and turned to face his master. Duo's attitude became more serious, Balis had a great sense of smell, Duo thought he was trying to tell them something. Duo didn't know for sure if anyone or anything for that matter was out there, but Balis rarely ever wrong with things like this. "Who ever's out there, I hope you know that eavesdropping is quite rude," Duo called out to the one outside the cave, and with that, he snapped his fingers, making a large lightning bolt strike in front of the cave. Duo wasn't trying to hit the person, just let him know that he shouldn't be sneaking around.

Duo smiled as Alexia accepted his offer. As the weather turned colder, Balis retreated into his master's coat. Alexia was complaining about the cold when Noah had grabbed them both and pulled them into a cave. Duo was about to ask what was going on when he saw the piles of falling snow, "That was a close one," Duo said, just before noticing that there was another person on the cave. She wore garb of the North Kingdom, Noah had called her Zeta. "So who's this? Noah, you seem like you know her,"
