I sorta remember hearing a brain teaser like this but all I remember is that the answer is really cool. I still doubt I'll be able to figure it out now haha.

The clothes weren't an effect of the sleeping worlds, but rather Xehanort and Yen Sid to an extent. Destiny Islands fell into darkness, but never sleep. Sleep was the state the worlds entered after the worlds were restored, but Destiny Islands obviously was restored at the end of kh1. The argument could be made that the world slept in darkness and there is some degree of evidence for it (see end of Riku's story in Monstro). Concerning Pixie Hollow being a sleeping world, it is actually a part of Neverland which never even fell to the darkness, so it would have been impossible for it to be sleeping and thus a world in KH3D.

KH3D Can someone please confirm how to make S ranked DEs?

S ranked Dream Eaters? I feel so bad. I have the guide, beat the game and still didn't even know there was such a thing. -
KH3D How Xehanort "**** ********" *Spoilers*
keystrike replied to keystrike's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I might not be entirely following you on this, but how would YMX still be able to differentiate this from what may be a real past. Once again, this doesn't seem to prove much. His word is not reliable in the situation of doubt and it is entirely possible that he doesn't understand that this is how it works, so when we take his word we aren't getting the full picture (once again under the assumption this theory is correct). I don't believe it was ever said that it was cannon, but rather just "possible." I think this was talked about in one of the interviews aside from the ultimania, but possible and cannon in the case of your argument are really equivalent. Anyways, It was Xehanort's Heartless that dreamed him up, not MX. The battle could be explained by him in a way jumping out of the dream world and trying to maintain his existence with the use of time magic. I'm not saying you're wrong, but at this point I'm not convinced. Thinking the opposite thing as you, its really hard to interpret your reasons for from such and such evidence. A couple days actually (but by no means straight). -
KH3D How Xehanort "**** ********" *Spoilers*
keystrike replied to keystrike's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
But how would he know he isn't real? Four, but I don't quite see where this analogy is supposed to take me. If your referring to the matter of intuition with math, addition with the symbol "2" is much more of a matter of definition than not. Simple definition is exactly what I'm trying to show what this shouldn't be. Something much more mysterious such as numbers raised to complex exponents (i.e. 3^sqrt(-1)) can make sense and so can time travel in KH. This whole post was pretty much addressing one mystery which if understood could help explain others such as the situation with Ansem and Xemnas. I'm fine with adding the element of time also, just as long as its not being shoved down our throats so we have to accept it weather it makes sense to the plot or not. -
As stated in the game it began with his heartless. He was an existence of solely a heart so he could time travel but he could only go one direction and he needed to exist at that time he was traveling to so ultimately he had to get a younger incarnation of himself to time travel forward even though he didn't even get rid of his body... now, does this really make sense? Lets be honest, no it doesn't. Its nearly worse than math formulas that have to be memorized. Anybody might say "Its a time travel story, do they ever make sense?" but being the stubborn fan that I am, I had to defend the plot. Fortunately even math formulas some times make sense, and this formula is no exception. Back when I first heard of "the mysterious figures" affiliation to time, I freaked out. "The series is struggling with convolution already how will it handle time travel!" Eventually I came up with a satisfying yet incorrect theory as how he may time travel with the power of dreams. The theory was that if we can traverse entering reality and dreams and if we can traverse time in the dreams, then we can ultimately traverse time in reality. And of course I expanded on to kingdom hearts and the seven sleeping worlds, but that is beyond the point. As it turns out, I was in the ball park. Although not as explicitly stated as the giving up your body part and traveling in only one direction, Ansem SoD and YMX definitely traveled through time via dreams. In this context I think these "rules" just may be starting to make sense. Why don't we start off with the big picture and then move down to why each rule makes sense. Just as Sora and Riku allegedly time traveled according to Xigbar and Goofy (and not disagreed to by Yen Sid) Ansem SoD traveled back in time to when his original self was still just a boy. Sora and Riku both had bodies unlike the robed Ansem, but Xigbar refers to both incidents as time travel. Sora and Riku were also reliving the experiences in contrast to Ansem SoD who simply witnessed and interfered with that past. It makes sense to immediately write off Sora and Riku's experiences with destiny islands as time travel, but there's no way the writers could repeatedly make such a mistake and then have Nomura not catch it. Instead might we simply qualify it a less complete type of time travel. So maybe Xehanort's Heartless did time travel in the same way that Sora and Riku did, but by being solely a wandering heart he was able to more literally go back to a specific time. Lets continue on this aside to develop and understand this "what if." That would mean that Xehanort dreamed himself into the past. He could dream up that time because he already existed there! Assuming that dreams were the mode of time travel, it would appear that we didn't even need to be told that you must have a version of yourself waiting at the destination. "But wait a second, in that case he didn't even time travel. And YMX definitely wasn't a dream the whole time because he was in the real world that never was." I guess that's one of the main points I have been sort of tiptoeing around, but you caught me, I don't believe he time traveled in the same sense that we have been assuming he has been. Let me explain a bit further. In reality it is a combination of both traversing time in dreams and dreams in time. The young Xehanort that we encounter in 3D for most of the time is a figment of Xehanort's memory. So it makes sense that the actual YMX wouldn't have any memory of it, because it never really happened! Two rules down, and uhh... some more to go! However, because his heart and the dream of his heart weren't entirely independent, an impression was left when the dream of his heart allegedly returned to his own time. Ultimately, these two timelines resonated with each other to some arbitrary extent creating a dual reality. What made this impression even more powerful was the fact that YMX was did transcend the realm of dreams to enter reality. When this happened the timer clicked on and YMX and the others could only exist due to powerful time magic coupled with that world's odd existence. After that magic is all used up, its only natural that one must return to his own time. Check rule number three. Put it together as you will, but it makes sense that this is how it worked out. Take a look at the graphic below. It summarizes up most of this last part not quite to the events of KH3D. (and sorry in advance for the bad grammar, random periods in sentences, and sucky arrows) If I'm not mistaken we still have two rules left: Upon arriving at destination one can only move forward, and one must discard the body in order to time travel. The first rule here is quite natural and intuitive in any sense so I don't think any further discussion is necessary. As for discarding the body, lets go back to where this discussion began when I pointed out XH's time travel in contrast to Sora and Riku's. A number of distinctions have already been pointed out concerning time in the realm of nothing. There it loses nearly all meaning. This is where the body exists after abandoning the body so when with the body it must still be tied to regular flowing time-even in dreams. In addition to this, the bodily form must be dreamed up which allows one to observe from the outside and intervene with this alternate, yet not entirely independent timeline. And that is how Xehanort "time traveled." TLDR; XH did not really time travel just as Sora and Riku did not really time travel. The young Xehanort Sora and Riku faced in kh3d was actually a figment of XH's memories/dreams. A distinction could be made between what actually happened in the time and what happened in certain people's dreams at different times. XH's dream of YMX resonated with the real YMX to influence him. This resonance was in part acheive by his being realized in the real timeline. In other words a sort of dual reality was achieved in the two timelines/realities overlapping or resonating.

KH3D Any Complaints about KH:DDD?
keystrike replied to animemylove's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I assume plot spoiler are included, but just in case, beware of spoilers. I guess I have two main gripes (sorry to steal your word MegaNeku) about the story and gameplay. As far as the story goes, the whole time travel thing felt a bit iffy. By that I mean we were sorta told how it works, but not really why, and in the end I didn't know what didn't matter and what we simply didn't know. It also nearly came out of know where, so naturally it felt more like a plot device than something than existed since the beginning. Aside from the time travel, I found it a bit hard to keep track of the story as well in the Disney worlds. The gameplay was true to what they were going for back when we first heard about it, bold. However, under the limited development time it was understandable that some aspects ended up being a bit messy or not optimal. There were areas that you should have been able to jump up to but couldn't and with all the freedom given, you only had so much area to exercise it. I also found it annoying how you couldn't cancel long commands or actions which put me in a pickle a number of times, but once again, I think it was merely an effect of quick development time. -
KH3D Question about Sora *SPOILERS*
keystrike replied to bink553's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
If Riku was in Sora's dream the whole time, wasn't Sora the only one actually unlocking the keyholes of sleep? -
KH3D Eraqus (barley a spoiler)
keystrike replied to kingdomkartz's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I thought about that too. You do have to remember that most of the plot for kh3, was kept for kh3, but if I'm not mistaken he wasn't even mentioned in the equivalent of jimminy's journal for this game. Back when kh3 was to immediately follow coded Nomura made comments on how the Terra-Xehanort split worked exactly would be important for future games (aka kh3) and also that Terra was harboring Eraqus's heart. I think it will make for an interesting plot point in kh3 but at this point I have no idea how it will work out. -
Do you think KH3D is the best Kingdom Hearts game yet?
keystrike replied to Lu Xun's topic in Poll of the Week
^^Whats with the kh1 hate not love. Just kidding, well, sorta, I just have so much nostalgia for the first game. Speaking of nostalgia, KH3D is giving me major nostalgia trips, especially with Riku. I haven't finished it, but even then I think only time will tell weather this is the best installment yet. -
KH3D Mark of Mastery edition Pre-Order
keystrike replied to Y.R.P.18's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Excuse me as I complain. At least you didn't preorder from it like some of us from radioshack/frys only to then miss out on the period amazon restocked before they inform you that your order cannot be completed. I know they will give back my money, but what they won't do is give back that time, and time=money. -
DLC? Would you have any idea when?
-
I'm sure I'm not the only person who has run into this problem, but just today radioshack informed me that my order was cancelled. Should I wait for amazon to possibly get more, should I order a hundred dollar version, should I even try to make a complaint to radioshack? In addition to this I heard that there were a number of glitches in kh3d and wanted to get a heads up to avoid them, if possible, when I play the game. Thanks in advance.

No offense taken. The clarification was appreciated.

Never has a truer description been drawn I can agree with you on that first part but if your a "bit psycho" as you say you are I'm not so sure you're in a valid position to make such political statements.

KH3D Apprentice xehanort flash back scene.
keystrike replied to Waller-pearson's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
A lot has already changed since the early kh3d trailers with kh1 sora and riku fighting heartless and nobodies. I'm guessing the TGS trailer will be consistent with the final product. -
Thank you sonnyinsanity. Its just a treat for those who know that Vexen and Roxas know eachother.

What happened to bbs volume 2?
keystrike replied to 143436611Xxcc's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
(Sorry for stealing your interview quotes in advanced Mog!) In other words at the time of the BBS Ultimania, neither BBSFM or KH3D existed (or if so, in such an abstract form they weren't worth mentioning), but also take note of how he redirects the question to advertise for BBSFM, specifically the secret episode which would hint at BBSV2. With that in mind this "different project" was BBSV2. Nomura also didn't deny that Re:coded was one of the "two titles" as he did do with BBSFM and KH3D. This fits into what he said at E3 2010: (note: The paraphrased version said announced while this says displayed) So before we go on lets clarify one thing: what were the "two titles other than kh3" that Nomura mentioned in the BBS Ultimania? These were Re:coded and BBSV2. Unless you understand this, you are going to misinterpret the BBS Ultimania (which is why I am including this interview last). We know that nothing in the bold is kh3d, so what is it? BBSV2. So then why is the mystery title said to come out within the next 2 days 22 hours and 22 minutes (that was a crazy coincidence!)? The answer is simple: KH3D didn't exist. Now that KH3D does exist and is going to come out in a matter of days, does that mean that BBSV2 was cancelled? No. First realize the primary reason for KH3D to have come into being. If Versus XIII releases before the end of the year, KH3 would then be released nearly two years later, or late 2014. To have only one side game between Re:coded and KH3 simply wouldn't cut it so they came up with a new plan revolving around KH3D. Re:coded would include a secret movie that would introduce KH3D, the non-japanese BBS would include another secret boss for the same reason, and also be the impetus for a final mix version. Suddenly we have a year or two of extra games, including BBSV2. TLDR/non-rant-version: -KH3D was realized partly to fill the gap between Re:coded and KH3, so it obviously wouldn't sacrifice another game -BBSV2 has been advertised through BBSFM which was released way after KH3D began development. At the absolute least, KH3D couldn't have directly cancelled BBSV2. -(No summary for evidence) And that is why BBSV2 is still going to be released. -
My personal responses: Like uber true form of Xehanort that precedes MX? Possibly something along those lines. New enemy altogether? There might be a hint in the secret ending. Nomura said that bbs was as far back as the series would go. That said, he's lied before and I wouldn't mind it. With a twist of course! She will be freed of her torment, but I'm not so sure this would consist of her return. I think you mean black hooded figure with red eyes. If so, then there is going to be a big twist to it. If it is Vanitas (in one form or another) I think it would be interesting to tie his torment as a being of pure darkness to everyone else's Nomura said that the bosses weren't cannon, but if you mean like a badass form for Xehanort and Eraqus, I'm all for it. I'm sorry, but this guy isn't cannon at all. Something to satisfy kh3 whiners hopefully. I don't think I could stand them whining about the game afterwards as well.

I wasn't offended at him correcting me, I even said that's what I appreciated, I was offended when he said that I couldn't understand that "people experiencing it the first time" meant "everyone who hasn't been playing since kh1." Understanding that is something you learn in second grade, and obviously I am far past that. I suppose I should have clarified "it" to mean what he quoted.
