Yeah, 8's are good. A 70 Metacritic, though, means it has a lower score than 50% of all games, which means it is below average. I still enjoy plenty of games with low scores but anything below a 75 should be considered a critical failure (which is very rare for Square Enix games, with only a few like Type-0 HD and Lightning Returns failing).
-
Most Western publishers expect a Metacritic above 85 for a game to be considered critically successful (the most famous example of this is Bethesda with New Vegas, which got a 84 and made the devs miss a bonus)... by many publishers standards all three Final Fantasy XIII games would have been critical failures. I agree that 8's are good scores but from the perspective of the game's industry those scores are just slightly above average.
-
Yeah, FFXIII received a few good reviews but each subsequent game got progressively worse scores. I'm not denying that the series was successful, just that it wasn't critically acclaimed. If it ended on XIII then maybe you could say the game was successful both commercially and critically but as it stands it is only a commercial success.

How heterosexual US couples met their romantic partners
atheist123 replied to Sora96's topic in General Discussion
Homesexuals likely wouldn't be open about how they met their partners in the 40's since prior to the 60's it was illegal to be gay. It would be bad statistics as the number of openly gay couples would increase from the 60's until now. -

Music Taylor Swift wins AOTY at Grammys, Kendrick Lamar snubbed

I think Uptown Funk was the best song nominated. Such an awesome funk song unlike anything else released this year. While Bruno Mars sung the vocals it's actually a white guy who made the song. But Funk is undeniably a "black" genre so you might be right. Agreed, He still won best rap album which is something but it's a shame he couldn't win the main prize. -
That is true. As I said, the game is playable. But saying it is a good port is a lie. It lacks many features expected of a PC game and has very poor performance for such an old game. Half-assed port by Square Enix.

I'm basing it entirely off my own experience with the game. Arkham Knight ran like crap (before the patches) but it never crashed or anything for me. FFXIII crashed a few times and lacked basic PC features expected of games. Running at 30fps is fine but the stuttering was horrible. At least Arkham Knight was eventually fixed and I could run it at a steady 60fps most of the time. For a port of a 5+ year old game FFXIII was horrible. Here is someone else's analysis of the stuttering issues of FFXIII: http://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-xiii-and-xiii-2-port-analysis-durantes-verdict/#page-2

It would be very surprising if this didn't get a sequel. Unlike other Nintendo IPs such as Metroid, Splatoon sold very well (more than 4 million). A Splatoon sequel would be a good launch title for the NX.

It probably happens to you but you just don't notice it... It is well documented that FFXIII has issues. This port isn't the worst I've ever played, though, it was slightly better than Arkham Knight. Did you figure out what your GPU is? It should be pretty easy to check whether your computer could run it using the website I linked before

I've played Re:Birth 1 on Steam and I enjoyed it. Don't know when I'll play another one since it seems a lot of material is recycled. Is Hyperdevotion Noire or Neptunia U worth playing? They seem a bit different to Re:Birth 1 so might try those if you think they are good.
-
It's playable. The game stutters quite a lot and there are many annoying aspects of the port. I would say it's a bad port but the game itself is fun once you get through the 20 hour tutorial. This site is useful for figuring out if you can run a game: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=3513&game=Final%20Fantasy%20XIIIYou know your CPU but you just need to find out what your specific GPU is.

Do you like current gen consoles better than last gen consoles?
atheist123 replied to Soravids's topic in Poll of the Week
Current gen barely has any games worth playing. But once KH3 and FFXV drop they will be better than last gen -
The exiting is still barbaric. You can't exit while using a controller, you have to quit to the title screen then exit using escape or alt tabbing. Just horrible design choices. The horrible frame rate and stuttering is something everyone experienced so that can not be forgiven like my crashing. Nearly every pc gamer cares about resolution and graphics options...
-
It was quite bad for me anyway. They crashed frequently, you couldn't exit from the main menu, you had limited resolution options, really poor frame rate, etc. But apparently Lightning Returns is better so I have hope that xv will be a good port.
-
Console games aren't without their problems as well lolJust Cause 3 was so bad on console that IGN gave it a 5.9 instead of an 8.0 like the PC version. Square Enix have slowly been getting better at porting FF games. XIII and XIII-2 were quite bad but Lightning Returns was better.

I thought this was going to be about today's cricket match with the Black Caps

SE set to reveal PC port of FFXV at March event
atheist123 replied to Sora96's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully this is a true. I'm going to wait for the PC version either way, but it would be nice having a chance at avoiding spoilers.
