Rage Form showcased in new Kingdom Hearts III two-minute commercial

Raxaimus

Within the new two-minute commercial for Kingdom Hearts III, Square Enix revealed a brief glimpse of Sora's new Rage Form in action. Similar to Anti-Form from Kingdom Hearts II, Rage Form uses unpredictable movements and attacks to give off a sense of speed, anger, and lack of control. Unlike Anti-Form, however, this new iteration wields the Keyblade and can be entered (or avoided) if the player chooses to do so.

Rage Form locks Sora out of his secondary commands like magic and items, so it seems to be incredibly powerful at the cost of these other abilities, or it could be some way to punish the player in the same vein as Anti-Form, which appeared if players overused Kingdom Hearts II's Drive Forms...but what could this be a punishment for? Using too many situation commands or Keyblade transformations in a given time period?

Only time will tell what this form has in store for us, as we quickly approach the release of Kingdom Hearts III!

The Evolved Form of both AntiForm and Sora's Heartless that is still apart of him. Xehanort will push Sora beyond his anger limits, thus resulting in a never before seen fierce Sora. Not even AntiForm as it was beforehand can compare to Sora's growing anger in what it is now otherwise called Rage Form.

"What else is darkness but hate and Rage?"

-Aqua, BBS.

Do we know when we unlock rage form? Because this seems to elude to Sora letting darkness into his heart...

Much like anti-form I think it will be a punishment reinforcement in which we might get super power and speed at the cost of not being able to heal or use items. I wonder if it will be the same as in KHII and the form will appear more often in boss battles?

Good question! I forgot that Anti-Form worked like that during boss fights! It would certainly be an interesting little addition to the form's mechanics.

I'd really prefer not having Rage Form function as a punishment mechanic. AntiForm works in II because of how Drive Forms function as an optional side-grade that you always have access to but should only be used when necessary. III seemingly encourages that you always use Situation Commands due to their nature of being temporarily accessible. I do not want the game to reprimand me for doing what it wants of me.

And I noticed that both times we have seen it is during a boss fight (Chariot Heartless and Dinosaur Rex Heartless). We'll see soon enough :)
