It's not native 1080p, Square Enix Japan render most of their PS3 trailers in 1080p, it's simply upscaled. The native resolution of all PS3 games is 720p.

It's native 1080p, all the Square-Enix games in this gen are in full HD.

No it's not, they're all 720p. The PS3 simply upscales them to 1080p. Why on earth do you think there's been all this 1080p talk latley with the new consoles? Seriously. Square Enix even confirmed that XIII is 720p before it was released.

Inb4 this Trailer will be getting the fan-made english subs or dubs with the help of our members, can't wait for that game for sure... xD

I think it is better to just wait for the english version then we got re:coded too.

I can't wait for December. I NEED this.

The native resolution of all PS3 games is 720p.

This is not true. I'm sure it is true in the case of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 though (and almost certainly of 2.5). But not all games are upscaled from 720p.

All Square Enix games are. Square Enix have even personally confirmed this for XIII and XIV: ARR.

It's all 720p. PS3 doesn't have the VRAM to push it to 1080p yes even with PS2 remasters it sort of fails at the whole point of HD remaster.

The reason why it looks so clean is because they add 2x MSAA

Well, you didn't say all Square Enix games, you said all PS3 games. So that's how I interpreted it. If what you meant was Square Enix games, then you'd be right (I think), but I can't interpret what isn't there.

There are plenty of games that are native 1080p. Virtua Tennis 3 is an example. A handful of PSN games are another. You don't need an incredibly large amount of memory to output at 1080p resolution, the main problem are textures. It'd be hard (if not impossible) to produce FFXIII, or even KH HD, in native 1080p, but it is still possible for "lightweight titles".

Yeah, we were discussing Square Enix. Yeah, I am right. Haha. Square Enix confirmed before XIII's release that it was 720p and they also confirmed XIV: ARR is only 720p. As for the other games, they're so small. Lol.

I realize that they are natively 720p. That trailer is too. It doesn't even have a 1080p option. My point is that when playing games on ps3, even if they support 1080p on the back of the box, they show up on your tv as 720p, unless you force them into 1080 through your system settings (which usually results in lower framrates and other negatives). HOWEVER, KH 1.5 as well as FF XIII and XIII-2 (haven't played LR: FFXIII yet) output in 1080p on your tv, with no drop in framerate. That is their default option, without having to force them into 1080p. I always notice this because every time I start any non-square enix game on my ps3, my tv updates the info to show that the game is being displayed in 720p, instead of the 1080p of the ps3 menu. KH 1.5 and those other FF games don't provide this change, and if i press the info button on my remote, it shows 1080p. That's all.

Is no one going to look it up to help the other to understand. I didn't know who was right because there was no receipts (facts).

All I am going to say is I am looking at the case of FFXIII right now and it says: HDTV 720/1080i/1080p (that is what it supports)

However this article says:

http://www.ps3news.com/PlayStation-3/final-fantasy-xiii-runs-in-1080p-on-the-playstation-3-console/

Quote:"Having said this, just because the game supports a 1080p resolution, does not mean that it is running at a native 1080p, but rather an upscaled 720p. Metal Gear Solid 4 is an example of this (though the game actually ran at 1024x768 and then upscaled). However, there are some aspects of the demo which appear to be running at a native 1080p, not an upscaled 720p.

There is noticable detail lost in the upscaled version, which suggests that the original was not upscaled, and is actually running at a native 1080p. The rest of the game appears to run at 720p, which includes the shorter in game cutscenes, and gameplay.

It's not full 1920x10800p resolution it's anamorphic 1440x1080p

If by chance it is full 1920x1080p then the game is not very demanding to the hardware. Simple games not complex ones. KH HD collections could indeed be full HD on PS3, but Square is too lazy to optimize the engine for that and instead have PS3 brute force run it rather

The games I mentioned aren't anamorphic. They're 16:9, 1920x1080. I'm not arguing that they are "demanding to the hardware" (albeit the PS3's main problem isn't the processor, but the limited amount of memory available), I'm just saying they exist and that it is possible.

HD remasters. We talk about nothing but the graphics and sound up until the game is out and we're playing it. At least, that seems to be it, from both KH HD collections.

My tv tells me when the game is native 720p or 1080p, maybe the XIII saga is upscaled but the hd remasters (even FFX/X-2) ARE NOT.

I know it's not gosh darn full 1080p. Correct me all you want, I actually agreed with you. My freaking point is that most games cannot even be upscaled because of the drop in quality while KH 1.5 can. I've even included pictures to show you what i'm talking about. I'm not an idiot despite your seeming to think that I am.

The pictures included are a screenshot of Assassins Creed Liberation HD running in 720p. The second is Kingdom Hearts 1.5 running at 1080p. I really don't give a crap if it's native or upscaled. The fact is, it is running in a form of 1080p, something that most other PS3 games do not do. If you wanna see the pictures to prove that FFXIII does it as well, let me know, I'll show you.
