Final trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter prologue released in English, Haley Joel Osment & Bill Farmer return as Sora and Goofy respectively

At last! It's so beautiful! I can't wait for this game! But wait, is it just me or does Haley Joel Osment sound a bit off? Oh well, it's been a while and he probably doesn't have too many lines in 0.2 anyway, I'm sure he'll sound a lot more seasoned by the time we get some new voiced KH3 footage.

Haley Joel Osment will always be the best English voice for Sora

Wonder why they changed "Follow the heart and you'll find the way"  to " May our hearts be the guiding key". This trailer is pretty good overall, really hyped to watch this game! Also I'm lowkey hoping that's Xemnas talking to Aqua through her armor.

I already love the Master of Masters. His laid-back, calm attitude is hilarious and fun to watch.

 

I can simply say that this trailer has got me even more excited than I thought I could. I'm glad they surprised us with this trailer and I enjoyed watching. Here's to just a month left to continue this great story of an amazing series.

Personally, I felt so nostalgic when he said that he's back. Sora, Donald and Goofy is what makes a mainline Kingdom Hearts game!

Probably to fit the lip-synching better. Not that we actually see their lips, but that's usually the case when these things happen and they may no be the only ones to say it. Maybe someone else says it and we actually can see their lips move.

No, it's the Master, he's the laid back, eccentic one, Luxu is the more serious one and sounds kinda like Ven. Look at the previous trailer, the one before the opening. 

Also, di danyoen else think Invi looke younger when she was talkign to the master? And the fact that both the Master and Mickey say the same thing to Invi and Aqua, they

Actually it's Master of Masters. You can tell because Nomura said he sounded unusually laid-back and youthful. Luxu was in one of the last trailers talking to MoM, and his voice sounded distinctly younger (also for a while a distinct difference between them was their zipper shape, but that may have been retconned, I'm not sure). We really haven't seen too much of Luxu, trailerwise, meaning that he is likely a key turning point in the plot, as seen in X.

Well the fact is that the actor gets older over time, and it's not like he's doing Sora 24/7. I've seen him in a few episodes of one Netflix show (not sure if it was House of Cards or some other kind of political thriller) and while I could tell it was him, he wasn't exactly trying to sound distinctly "Sora-ish". It's like how certain actors have to tune their voice a particular way and get into a particular state of mind in order to do some characters, otherwise Roger Craig Smith's Sonic would sound like his Batman or Etzio. And it's usually trickier to get back into that right away if you don't get to do a lot of takes ahead of time, and since the impression I'm getting is that Sora is largely absent for the majority of 0.2's story (he kind of makes a habit out of that, must have picked it up from his big brother Noct, lol), it means that there weren't too many lines for Osment to voice and not as much reason to have him take multiple takes for the same 10 or fewer lines he might have. I'd still try to get the best out of him with the time I'm given, but however they do things is how they do things. I'd really just like it if one day they just got multiple cast members together so that they can have slightly more natural dialogue between each other, since most times they tend to do solo recording sessions. It's a trend I'm starting to see more and more lately with things like Sonic Boom and Final Fantasy XV.

Probably. Also the series, and English dubs of anything Japanese as a whole, has a history of rephrasing certain things to make more sense to an English speaking audience. I mean the language barrier isn't just made up of the different sounds and letters we use, there's different speaking structures and customs, ways of conveying thoughts and ideas, and even difference in how slang is used. So most times just straight up translating the Japanese into literal English is only doing half of the work, because then you're given a rather odd way of speaking in English, so then you have to translate/interpret it into "Westernized English" so that it sounds like something somebody would actually say if they grew up speaking a much more contemporary style of English. An easy example would be the various dubs of Dragon Ball Z and how they all basically say the same thing as the Japanese version with English subs, but they're all interpreted in different ways to sound like actual English-speaking people are talking.

I'm pretty sure that was Jason Dohring voicing Terra, it sounded pretty consistent with how he sounded in the later half of BbS. Plus, nothing stood out to me about his voice, I just accepted it naturally, which to me tells me that either A) It's him and he's still maintaining the feel he got for Terra for the majority of BbS, or B) They got someone else to do him that does such a good job matching his voice that I would never be able to tell the difference the first time around. But even then there would have been some signs, and I feel like it really is Jason this time, considering that they got Willa Holland back to do Aqua, and if Ven ever speaks at all, I think it's all but confirmed that Jessie McCartney is back, the guy is just as invaluable to the series as Haley is.
