Exiblade7 1,917 Posted August 6, 2016 I've always heard that you shouldn't get upset over people's opinions even if they are treating their opinion like, no, as a fact, but I never got a clear reason on why it's not significant to get upset over it. Keep in mind that I'm not talking about the people who just let facts be facts. I'm talking about those kinds of people who treat their opinion as a fact even though in reality, it isn't. It just is an opinion. I know the answer might be very obvious, but I need an answer 3 catmaster0116, The Transcendent Key and Movies798 reacted to this
Isaix 924 Posted August 6, 2016 The answer's simple, why should you worry about the opinion of some random dude typing on his computer,he's no better then you.And everybody have different opinions so if you had to get angry everytime you see someone disagreeing with you, you'd be angry for the rest of your days. I love FFVII but a lot of people say its overrated and say FF6 or 4 or 9 are better.I disagree of course with their opinions but I won't lose sleep over a different opinion, even if they make a sequelitis type video to explain with "facts" why FFVII suck I won't care because its just an opinion, I love the game and that's all that matters. 2 Exiblade7 and Jake reacted to this
Jake 1,488 Posted August 7, 2016 You shouldn't worry or get upset over other people's opinion as it's their opinion. You should focus on what makes you happy and you alone. If you let other people's opinion get in the way of doing something that makes you happy, then, personally, you are essentially just holding yourself back from achieving true success in your life. 3 Mystics Apprentice, Movies798 and Exiblade7 reacted to this
Soravids 1,056 Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) It's perfectly fine to want a solid answer before you pass something off as fact, but let us also exercise freedom of expression. If somebody thinks differently you could try to convince them otherwise, but don't ever let them change you if you don't want to change simply for appeasing them. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) I say that you stick to your opinion, even if another person doesn't agree with you! Because if that person has firm belief in their opinions, then why shouldn't you believe in your own opinions, ya know? As long as people treat each other respectfully, opinions can be discussed and shared without any problems, ya know? Every person is a different world, and each world has their own mindset, so don't worry about it too much! catmaster0116 2,676 Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) I believe its important to keep an open mind, to respect that the other person/s may have differing views and ideas even though those ideas/views may challenge yours. It becomes problematic when some people choose to aggressively force it down your throat; but once again the choice is yours whether to take it in; whether to ignore it and move on; or whether to be positively or negatively affected by it. I also believe its equally important to not get upset over clashing ideals. Where conflicts arise is where people outright completely disregard or 'attack' and 'degrade' a person's ideas/views. A better way of doing it would be to respectfully acknowledge that their views are valid (to a certain extent) but at the same time keep, maintain (or modify where appropriate) your own views/ideas and 'stand your ground'. Don't be threatened by it Especially on the internet and in life where a lot of ideas and views can be shoved in your face.... An opinion can be classed as a hypothesis or a theory. The difference is based on how much evidence is backing the said opinion. An opinion that has substantial proof, relatively cannot be disproved to an extent and is adopted by many people will be a theory and would be closer to your definition of 'factual'. Sample theory: "Riku was the recipient of the Keyblade's power due to Terra performing a ceremony on him. But Sora's ability to wield the Keyblade is influenced by the Keyblade choosing Sora over Riku.". To an extent this statement is factual in that a cutscene in Birth By Sleep shows the ceremony of Keyblade ascension, furthermore there is solid evidence of the original Keyblade choosing Sora over Riku existing over the many KH games that have been released so far. This idea is generally accepted by much of the KH fans and thus is what is considered 'factual' On the other hand a hypothesis is an idea or a prediction of future events made based on observation that may or may not have substantial evidence to support it. I believe many 'theories' on future video game plots should be called 'hypothesis' and not 'theories'...but many people wouldn't care which word is used Sample Hypothesis: "Breath of the Wild takes place in the same timeline around Windwaker". This opinion would have been made after observing that Korok's appeared in both Windwaker and Breath of the Wild. But remember that the game isn't even out yet so its hard to draw out conclusions of its relationship with Windwaker or the other games. This is NOT a theory but merely a hypothesis made by observation. And ~ regarding "why it's not significant to get upset over it" - the question here should be 'why should you get upset over it?' - surely there are more pressing matters to worry about and losing sleep over another person's opinion is hardly productive But then again this is my opinion and whether or not to take it in or to acknowledge it and move on without taking it in is entirely up to you Edited August 7, 2016 by catmaster0116 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
