Vaude 536 Posted October 27, 2017 - Lord Raiden, Mystras, conversing with Alastor and Rabiyu - The lord of Mystras blinked in surprise when Alastor appeared beside him, assured that Raiden wished to converse with him. How this man could read him like a book was incredible. Maybe it was his mastery of reading auras, as Alastor said, but Raiden liked to imagine that it was due to their long friendship. "Congratulations are in order for your accomplishment there, too!" he responded to the Storm Lord's comment about unraveling the flank. "I could not see much more than flashes of lightning on my side, but the morale of the troops was shaken from one side to the other, and much momentum was stoppered thanks to you, Hisie, and our human friend." He almost let slip Rabiyu's common name, but remembered at the last instance. Funnily enough, the girl came close as if beckoned, glancing at him with piercing eyes that seemingly put his search magic to shame. Raiden hardened his looks a little further, taking on a more business-like attitude along with that change. "No, we most likely should not wait; searching for the previous sentinel of Isopolis would be time better spent conversing with you both. Perhaps if you see him, you can communicate the message directly, even if truncated." He glanced between the two with a tight-lipped smile, and he ensnared one wrist within a differing hand as he closed his eyes and delved into thought. "A meeting alone was proposed by Queen Shiva, as you mentioned, Milady, and I am willing to take the risk of doing so if it means an end to this war of ideologies. Alastor, I need you for two things: to bolster our defenses in case Shiva's armies or special forces attempt a night raid, and to plan new strategies we can implement, both outside and inside our city. I fear that, even with our military prowess, that we may lose some of our best and brightest." A new shadow swept over his face at the thought of the body taken away, and of his next words. "Ren . . . our tactician . . . was one such casualty, I am sad to say. "For you, Hisie, I desire a steady eye on the periphery of our forces outside the city. A bubble shield has been placed around the city, forged by some of our best mages still inside the city. To keep everyone safe, I will need to make use of your interesting rune again, if you have any more left. I will trust your judgement on whatever else you do, especially with your health. That comes as a higher priority. I do not wish to lose either of you like our drakon friend."
Elrandir 783 Posted October 27, 2017 (edited) - Rabiyu and Sifrei - With Raiden and Alastor -The orders were the ones that Rabiyu was waiting to hear, simple defense and planning. She was sure that Alastor would make a good job on his assignment. "It is sad to learn that our tactician, Ren Mordecai, as passed away," Rabiyu said to Raiden, "Sadly, that is the nature of war. It is unavoidable." Such words coming from the Elf mouth surprised the Archangel, more so since he knew that she was hurt by the death of Aurion, but who was he to reveal her feelings to others. "You have need of the rune? That can be done, but it will take a moment to prepare," she said calmly, "I will use it to, for a lack of a better word, "lock" the barrier. It won't be impregnable, it will only help to minimize the amount of magic needed to perform and maintain the spell while also fortifying it." The Lord of Mystras was going to see the Queen, alone, and that was something that, thanks to Lady Raishan, made Rabiyu doubt the Frostbearer. "I will do what you ask, Your Lordship, but I have a request, "she said, "I like to take into consideration any possible outcome for any situation, and I would suggest to take someone with you, a bodyguard, once you go to the Frostbearer. In the end, it is your choice, of course. I fear that at this point anything is possible, even treason. Once I am done I will focus on surveillance from the top of your villa, Your Lordship. If you, or Master Alastor, need me you know where to find me." Rabiyu bowed to Raiden and to Alastor before looking at the Sifrei. The look on the Elf's face was one full of determination, but also of exhaustion, not that that would stop her, she would rest once the rune was created. "I will take my leave Sifrei. Rest for now, heal your wounds and..." at that point Rabiyu stopped for a moment, "...keep an eye on Aura." The Elf was gone in the blink of an eye, but that was her way. The hooded figure of Rabiyu could be seen moving around the city, from one place to the next, always looking for the mages that were casting the shield around the city, giving them instructions, teaching them how to create the rune, and secretly planting a memory erasing spell to erase any knowledge they had on the rune after certain time had passed, and a spell to protect them of any attempt to extract information regarding such rune, she wasn't going to risk a leak of that kind of knowledge. It took the good amount of an hour to find all the mages and give them the necessary knowledge, but she did it, anyone paying attention would notice the faint vibration that the shield made once the rune was woven into the spell and only lasted for a brief moment. Another moment later the symbol of two eyes intersecting with an eyeball in the middle appeared right in the middle of the city, high in the sky, it remained there for many minutes before slowly fading. Rabiyu was silently watching from the top of Raiden's Villa. "It is done. The mages have done their work and the shield is more durable. I have a three sixty degree view from outside the shield, ready to keep an eye for the forces outside the city," Rabiyu thought to herself while sitting on the roof, "Now to play the waiting game." Rabiyu put her hands together and relaxed, her body welcomed the change, and her mind drifted into a state of calmness, her mind's eye giving her a good view from all around the city and the outside.- Sifrei Mond - With Raiden and Alastor -"I will take my leave as well, Your Lordship," Sifrei said after Rabiyu left, "I need time to recover, and to take care of one of the injured. If you need something from me I will stay in this tent for the time being." The Archangel bowed to Raiden and Alstor, then turned around and left their presence. Sifrei slwoly made his way to Aura and Helios, who was now listening to a small bird. "Your face tells me that whatever the small bird told you are bad news," he said to Helios, " Helios, correct? Forgive my manners for not introducing myself before. I am Sifrei Mond of the North. I am an acquaintance of Aura, Aurion and Henry, to some extent." Sifrei offered his hand to the young shapeshifter, he knew what he was feeling too, the siblings often talked about Helios, so it was only natural that he was hurt. "Both Aurion and Aura often talked about you," he said with a small smile, "Mostly how Aura had to face her fears of flying, but they often spoke fondly of you." - Aura Aeternum - ??? -Darkness, darkness as far as the eye could see, Aura was sitting in the middle of nothing, her knees close to her chest, there was no sound, no air, nothing. She didn't had any idea of how long she had been there, not after the Elf told her that her brother was gone and he was not going to return, ever. "What am I to do now?" she whispered, "I'm alone...all alone...Your promised me your would be there always. Always." "That is not true, Aura," a familiar voice said, "you still have Rabiyu and Sifrei, Helios and Henry (and Gel?) and everyone we met during our stay in Mystras." Aura quickly stood up and turned around and, in the distance she saw him, her brother, and once she noticed, the landscape changed. Both of them were now standing on a grassy plain early in the morning. "But you won't be there! You promised me!" Aura yelled, "You...promised...It's not fair." Aurion, who was now wearing simple clothes, moved closer to Aura and gave her a hug. "My dear Aurora, I am so very proud of you. And I'm so grateful for everything we did together. I will cherish all the memories we made, and never forget that I’ll never be that far away," Aurion said with a smile and touching Aura's cheek, "I never had a greater friend than you. When we travelled a lot, I never had a greater friend than you, Sister." The sound of the wind could be heard by both siblings, the air was cold, but not too cold. Aurion looked behind Aura before gently pushing her and touching her shoulders, Aura noticed this and looked behind her. There was a figure dressed in black robes, their face could not be seen, they reached their hand out towards Aurion, that fair pale hand was calling for him. "No, you can't take him!" Aura yelled at the figure, "Not yet!" "It is time, Aurora, I will see you again one day, but I hope it is not too soon. I will tell Mom and Dad that you say hello, " Aurion said while Aura turned around, "I know that it’s hard. And I am sorry that I couldn't fulfill my promise, but you are ready, I believe in you. You still have a lot to live for." Aurion gently rubbed Aura's head and then he walked past her towards the figure in the distance.I will never stop loving you, Aurion. We'll be waiting for you always, Aurora. The older sibling touched the hand of the figure dressed in black, they turned around and began to walk away, slowly fading from view. The wind giving a small glimpse of the face under the black hood to Aurion.“I’m so proud of you, my child." (Eye of Sauron? Please! Eye of Rabs is better!) Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted October 27, 2017 - Soren Monroe and Meksis, Demon and the Knight - Kilkis Seres Campgrounds - With a calling of "Woah!" and pulling of his reigns, Meksis brought Ella to a stop at the Kilkis Campgrounds, swiftly dismounting the horse and reaching to Soren to aid him. The former Sentinel grimaced at the notion for a moment, only to be met with an insistent tilt of the head by Meksis, followed by Soren taking his hand and getting off of Ella the Horse only to grimace again, this time in pain. "Augh, I forgot about those injuries..." Soren noted, rubbing his arm where Helios had bitten him, noting how bemused Meksis seemed at his little comment. "H-How, how did you--? Oh! The battle, the thrills...wait, how can your combat high have lasted so long?" Meksis went through several motions, gesturing outward, to Soren and to the battlefield as he did, questioning the Demon out of sheer curiosity. "Demons live for battle, Meksis. The most bestial of my kind can live off of their primal feelings, including a lengthened combat high. My blood was boiling out there, even as I resigned myself to the Queen." Soren explained gladly, then frowned as his pain intensified, it wasn't too bad, but he had to seek the aid of a healer now. "Woah there, Soren!" Meksis called as he caught Soren, who hadn't even realized how lightheaded he was and nearly toppled over. "Oh...mmm, sorry. I-I think I should head to a tent." Soren uttered sheepishly, though he began to feel relieved, his pain was dulling rather rapidly...his senses cleared up quickly as he saw Meksis channeling a healing energy into him. "Wait...you're a healer too?" Soren quizzed, to which Meksis straightened him up as he answered. "Indeed. Queen Shiva promised you healing, she never said it had to be from a White Mage. Now keep still." Soren was healed to full health in short order, though he felt troubled. "I don't understand..." His armoured ally looked him dead in the eye and "frowned". "Soren, I told you. I will put in a word for you to the Queen. I'm not about to reveal a deception and send you away. My entire purpose is to tend to the safety and protection of others around me...and you're around me, Soren. So consider yourself tended to. Friend." With that, Meksis gave Soren a tap on the arm and headed towards and into Shiva's Tent, leaving Soren to simply laugh a little to himself. "Friend, hmm? ...I could use one of those..." Soren thought to himself. He didn't have much in the way of, well, anything anymore, but a Living Armour as a friend was a good start to sorting his life out. - Nergal, Remnant of Meksis - Kilkis Seres Campgrounds, Healer's Tent w/ his Healer - Nergal had been resting his eyes for a while now after his fair Healer had brought him to her tent, her aid was most punctual and beneficial. Though he was still a little groggy, she could not have come at a better time. The remnant then attempted to raise his head, but groaned in resignation...not ready yet. "Try to keep still, you're still adjusting. It won't take long, I assure you, but I'm glad I got to you when I did. Any longer and you wouldn't have made it." A familiar, female voice assured him to keep still, into his vision emerged the Healer who had saved his life, currently mixing a few vials of unknown liquids together, possibly something to aid his pain or healing, or maybe a side-project of hers. Nergal was about to inquire as a to a few things, but then someone else entered their tent...a frightfully familiar face that almost caused Nergal to shoot up from his bed, had it not been for the prior warnings to keep still...Yevgeni was here? "He survived the battle too...excellent..." Nergal's internal thoughts were now completely occupied by what could happen now, for him, for Yevgeni, for Shiva...for the worlds...the possibilities were ringing in his head, more than ever before! Perhaps Alastor deserves more than mere gratitude. "You...you are, that Elf, no? We've met...forgive me, the battle has taken its toll, but I am expected to recover. Might he be permitted to approach, dear Healer?" Nergal spoke aloud, his voice a little strained still, but very clear nonetheless. His Healer acknowledged Yevgeni and looked to Nergal. "Of course! Is he a friend of yours?" She asked politely, to which Nergal smiled. "Oh, he is a very...very, dear friend. Worry not about him, if you have any concerns, I can alleviate them all." "No no, he's perfectly fine. I have little in the way of concerns about many warriors. Mostly the ones I have to fight in order to save lives." The Healer replied in kind, confirming Nergal's initial theory as to what kind of a person, and healer, she was.
Stardustblade358 806 Posted October 27, 2017 - Helios - Side: Mystras Rebellion - Healer Tents - With Aura & Sifrei Mond - Helios looked up, holding his hand out to the small bird, who chirped away to him. He hummed, gently rubbing his finger on the bird's head, causing it to pause it's chirping in acceptance of being petted. "The results of this first battle has affected both sides equally. It's also causing a domino effect on the nature around the battlefield. Carrion are celebrating at the chance of a feast. The Spriggans and other sprites aren't very happy of the amount of blood spilled...then again no one is." Helios hummed, waving the bird away as he proceeded to shake Sifrei's hand. "I'm Helios. Helios Silverstrider." He said. The bird however, decided to stay a while longer, flying over to Helios' head and making itself comfortable right on top of it. Helios looked up at Sifrei with a smile. "Aura wasn't very keen of it. I doubt she's anywhere near being any more comfortable with it than last time." Helios hummed. He frowned, looking back at Aura. "They broke me out and saved my life and yet they ended up getting dragged into a war. This war was going to happen one way or another, sooner or later. There is nothing that can be done about it but...every single time it makes me wish I could turn back time and stop it all from happening. But then again, if it did, then the world below would still be dying with no answers as to why. So...as painful as these losses are, they're worth it for the better result." Helios sighed. He needed a nap. More like a hibernation. Yeah, that sounded nice actually. "I don't know what you or lord Raiden gain from siding with humanity. But I thank you, and from today on, consider me your ally, and my abilities at your service." Helios said, reaching upwards as he picked up the bird gently off his head. "They're the best spies out there, you know? Birds, and other animals. The reason being is that they already lived in the lands long before we did, and so they go unnoticed. Believe it or not, though they usually go by instinct, even they know what's the best option for their own benefit in the end." Helios hummed, extending his hand towards Sifrei as the bird proceeded to fly around him playfully. "Not even Queen Shiva can rule the wilds." He chuckled. Elrandir 783 Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) - Sifrei Mond - Healer Tents with Helios -Sifrei listened to every word Helios said, such pain the young one had. "You are wise for someone so young, Helios Silverstrider," Sifrei said as he held his hand out to the small bird so it could land, "and clearly has more pain for one of that age should have." The Archangel gently rubbed his finger on the bird's chest, a distant look in his eyes. "But I understand the pain of war, my friend. And, like you, I was also burdened with regret of my actions." he said calmly, "I remember the time before the barrier, a time when one could wander into the world below and mingle with the humans." And remember he could, even if it was millennia ago, when he descended to witness the abilities of humans, primitive as they were. "They were weak, scared, but also full of curiosity. When feys began to approach these humans they treated them, treated us, as gods who came from above." Sifrei said to Helios, "I admit that I was fascinated by humankind, I witnessed their struggles and how they managed to survive against all odds. After hundred of years of watching, some of us decided to grant the humans the knowledge of the arcane arts, magic, if you will, or the power of the gods as the called it back then." Sifrei's mind wandered into those ancient times, when he could be around humans, among friends, friends that ultimately betrayed their benefactors when they sought to conquer the Overworld. "I fear that the reason humans came to the Overworld in ancient times was because of some of us, and I fear that I share a big piece of the responsability," Sifrei said, "You see, with the knowledge we shared in hopes to help humans grow, they instead used the knowledge to create Feyslayers, powerful magical weapons capable to kill a fey in a single blow, most of the time. That knowledge has been banned from the Overworld ever since then, and no such weapons have been created. Of course, not all weapons were destroyed during the last war and some of them are hidden, waiting to see the light of day once again." The Archangel turned to look at Helios, extending his hand towards the Shapeshifter so the bird would fly to him. " I offered to help the Lord of Mystras in an attempt to correct my wrongs, Helios, to see humans evolve, to once again share our worlds," he said with a smile, "us from the North want to see those bonds restored. The King of Kings and the Tide Mother, King Asura and Queen Leviathan, share Lord Raiden's objective, so Eliltari and myself offered to help, and we will not rest until that barrier is gone, that is the first step. I just hope there was another way rather than war, both feys and humans have seen enough war already." It took a split second, but Sifrei noticed that the sleeping Aura had a faint smile on her face, maybe she was having a good dream, a dream about her and her brother, perhaps her whole family. It was a shame that Aurion was gone, but they were going to be at her side as her new family. Edited October 28, 2017 by Elrandir
Stardustblade358 806 Posted October 28, 2017 Helios listened intently at Sifrei, his jaw dropping slightly. The lifepsan of the creatures of this world, compared to human, might as well be compared to an eternity. Though due to that, it was sometimes hard to tell the difference of those who had just began to live, and those who have lived more than one lifetime. He listened intently, the bird flying back to snuggle up against Helios' shoulder. The way he described it, about their curiosity and welcoming desire of knowledge of the unknown...before the slow decent to madness for power. All too familiar. He couldn't help but to chuckle as he listened to him. "History repeats itself." He said. "Yet, they are suffering of what their ancestors did long ago. Even now, what Alderon did, though unforgivable, was out of desperation." Helios smiled at Aura. At least she had some momentary peace from the events of the day. "Queen Shiva is pretty stubborn. She is Queen for a reason...let's make sure that the worlds are able to be allies once more. Let's create a new age of peace to make up for the wars created." Helios said with a smile, looking over at the small bird and shooing it away. "Go. If there are news, you know where you find me." He hummed. The bird chirped up, before flying off, finding an exit from the tent rather quickly and disappearing from sight.
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted October 28, 2017 --Yevgeni Malachite -- Healer's Tent with Nergal-- The blond stood stock still as his presence was noted, and his entrance debated between the mysterious man and his healer. Yev watched them with emerald eyes, his gaze finally meeting that of the healer. "Worry not, I do not wish a fellow comrade ill. I will ensure that he doesn't try to get out of bed, or do anything that would bring upon him further harm." With that Yevgeni strode closer to Nergal's side, kneeling on the floor so that they were closer to one another's eye level. "I do not recall your presence within the royal court until today," Yevgeni spoke, voice low so that the Healer, if still around, could not hear. "What prompted you to join in combat today? In fact, who are you, and what is your fascination with me?" He had many questions that he desired answers for, and he didn't have much intention on leaving--or allowing the man to die--until he received all of them. --Curvis Sourati -- En Route to Queen Shiva-- A grim smile curved the corners of his mouth as he mounted Aqua's horse behind her. "I don't suppose that you would hold any power over the queen, much like I hold none over my king. Regardless, words are the only things we can proffer, and since nothing was to be had with the human king I can only hope that your queen of fey is a little more reasonable. Or, I may be killed on the spot." Regardless, it was worth it for Curvis to try. He couldn't stand idle--or worse, aid in the destruction of hundreds--and allow more lives to be lost. It did strike him as curious, however, that Aqua trusted him so, despite his being human and not knowing him for long. "Why are you doing this for me?" he asked her finally. "This could very well get you in trouble, if not killed. Why risk yourself for a complete stranger, and a human one at that? What if I'm asking you for an audience with the queen to assassinate her?" --Everyth Castanova -- With Henry-- A frown furrowed her brow at Henry's words concerning her side effects. Not because he chuckled, but because of a key word used in his statement. "Too?" she inquired, gripping her elbows. "You suffer from some negative repercussion from your augmentation as well? I had no idea. I thought that I was the only one. Well, apart from the others who died." She listened to Henry's options of what he would do after the war depending upon the various outcomes, though none sounded too pleasant to her. "You would choose to live in solitude, to 'sleep to death,' as you phrased it? Forgive me, but that just sounds like survival, not living. Don't you have ambitions? Dreams? Sights that you want to see, or things that you wish to accomplish?" Everyth turned her head, gaze veering into the woods beyond them. "If you go free you will have so much potential. Sure, you can never bring back those whom you've lost, but you can rebuild. You can build a new family, a new place to call home. Maybe you'll find something that you love to do, or people to love. You never know." Henry extended the pendant around his neck, which arrested Everyth's attention. Her violet eyes fell upon it, pale fingers extending to touch it. "May I?" she asked softly, awaiting permission before fingering it herself. "It's very lovely. What exactly is it? An amulet?" It was then that Henry asked her what they said about him after he left, to which Everyth could only stare at him blankly. "Does it really matter, Henry? It was all lies anyway, and far in the past," Everyth murmured softly, not wishing to hurt the already hurting man by admitting it all to him. "The king merely needed you, and thus he would say whatever it was that needed to be said to get you back. I didn't see that then, but I do now. You're . . . " You're what? Everyth's words died in her throat, unable to say more. A part of her didn't know what to say, and the other part of her couldn't say it. She knew nothing about friends, compassion, or heaven forbid love. There was no way that she could begin trying to describe this intricate and difficult feeling that was welling in her chest the more that she got to know him, so say nothing she did. --Shiva de la Alexandria -- Kilkis Seres Camp with Maxis-- A playful smirk crossed Shiva's face as Maxis was so confident on how he would deal with Henry. "Well, I'm glad that you're so confident that you can take care of any problem he poses," she said jokingly. "Though how about ensuring that he doesn't do a number to you, too, okay? He really gave you a beating." The light mood between them vanished, however, when Shiva revealed her plans to Maxis, which even caused one of his arms to fall to the ground. She reached to pick it up, getting ready to offer it back to Maxis, but instead his other hand found her cheek. She could almost feel the warmth behind the cold metal. Almost. "Your . . . family?" she whispered, eyes wide upon him. Sure, she had always considered him to be much more the uncle than she had whom tried to claim her life upon her father's death, but little had she realized that Maxis considered her to be family as well. She placed her hand on Maxis' attached forearm, gripping it tenderly. "I know Raiden, and I know that he won't hurt me. He still loves me, Maxis, and I love him. No matter how hard I've tried to change it, I simply cannot. Unless he is no longer the man I once knew, I should be safe. My concern, however, is not in him, but in others who may exploit our meeting, hence why I must keep it as private as possible." She stood on her tiptoes, reaching up to give Maxis a soft kiss on the cheek. It felt odd to be kissing metal, but she knew that it would mean something to him, and that somehow he'd feel it all the same. "Thank you . . . for believing in me. I promise you that I will think of you if I am in need." 2 Scrapmaster and Nero Kunivas reacted to this
Scrapmaster 1,731 Posted October 29, 2017 - Henry - The Dreadnought - Conversing with Everyth - " I do have my ambitions." Henry replied to Everyth's earlier statmeent about survival with a smirk. "I break this barrier and take the patch of land they give me, if they give me one that is." Henry spoke, bringing a finger. "I'l make it into a thriving farm, its what my father would've wanted..." Henry spoke, sounding genuinely proud of such a goal. He was a farmer's son, so he shared some of the love for crops. "Thats is, if they let me go free." Henry replied to Everyth's next statements, he wasn't sure if they would honor their part and let him go, probably not, since it wasn't exactly what he asked for, he only wanted to undo the barrier and save the world below. One way or the other. He looked at her surprised at her asking to see his pendant, to which he moved his hand to give it to her for inspection. "Its a family heirloom. Its from my mother." Henry spoke to Everyth. Explaining the pendant's origins, somewhat. "Well, no, I was just curious." Henry nonchalantly replied to Everyth's question about his earlier question. Though e raised an eyebrow as Everyth stopped mid sentence. Henry simply looked at Everyth with a curious, but friendly look. "Im...what?" Henry asked her. - Alastor - The Storm - Alastor listened silently as Rabyiu spoke to Raiden, and himself, only giving off a few knowledging nods her way as she praised his actions in the battle. He slowly turned to Raiden as the man told him his orders. "Good eye, we are extremely open to surprise attacks." Alastor spoke. "I'l see to it." He spoke, Alastor spoke, before walking off, he stopped mid way, and slowly turned to Raiden. "A meeting alone smells like a trap, but I can't change your mind even if I tried. So I won't argue." Alastor spoke, half serious. As he walked off. - Maxis - The Living Armor - Sharing a moment with Shiva - Maxis stood quiet as Shiva spoke, her words giving him warmth...and happiness, a sense of belonging of sorts. Which pleased him greatly, as these feelings were extremely rare for beings such as he. "Ah, yeah...Raiden...me and him never saw eye to eye...Then again we barely had any interactions now that I think about it." Maxis spoke, bringing a hand to his chin. Before shrugging, "Either way, be it Raiden or someone else. They best thing twice before trying anything to you..." Maxis spoke with a more dark tone this time, but he also sounded extremely protective of her at the same time. Shiva's next actions, however, surprised him. And all of his minds at the same time. The moment she kissed her, about seven or so clones of Maxis literaly generated themselves out of him, all staying behind him. Pointing their fingers at their cheeks. "We all want a kiss too!" They all shouted in sync. To which the original Maxis, turned to them, still stunned. And simply looked at them, the clones quickly vanished the moment he turned around to see them. Prompting him to turn around to look at Shiva again. He put his hands on her shoulders. And with a caring tone, said. "I should be he one thanking you for giving me a chance all these years ago. Now go, if anything happens...i'l be there for you." Maxis reassured her, as he let go of her shoulders.
Vaude 536 Posted October 29, 2017 - Lord Raiden, Mystras, now alone after disseminating strategy - Raiden looked perplexed by Rabiyu's strategy of using the rune, not exactly the course of action he had in mind but certainly not a bad idea if Shiva's forces dared to attack the city itself. For that reason he said nothing about this, plus if everything went well with her actions it could protect both the city and its outside forces. Before he could yield a response to her comment on his requiring a bodyguard, she slipped away, as was her way. There was truth to her supposition. Should anything happen, a bodyguard would be helpful. However, could Shiva be so deceitful, so malignant as to mean him harm or capture under the guise of passivity? He refused to believe it, contrary to what evidence seemed to agree with. Besides that, he had something more useful than a standard guardian. He had search magic to detect the danger well in advance. Sifrei headed off as well, the archangel politely bowing before he did so, and Alastor let loose a string of tight-lipped commentary that brought a smile to Raiden's lips before he too left. The lord of Mystras was alone with his thoughts now, but he felt comfortable with the lack of conversation. Alastor, old friend, you never cease to make me smile, he thought to himself. Even if this meeting is a trap and I lose my life, I'd at least die in peace knowing that I was in good company over the years. Even my new affiliates of the North aren't that bad. I can imagine getting along with them over the course of centuries, and Mariel as well after all these long years. If only time moved as dictated, and fate stayed its course according to one's thoughts. Since I have no say on the matter, the most I can do is what I can should negotiations fail . . . or I fall. Newly determined, Raiden walked toward the exit, claiming a clean white scarf on a wooden box and tossing his modestly sized pouch of coins in its place. He pulled the tattered thing around his neck before tossing open the canvas. "It is time to settle this, Shiva," he murmured as if to himself as he blinked out of sight, only a chilling wind and the crackle of electricity in his absence. - Jari Coriander, Kilkes Seres, in the company of a bottle - A sense of heaviness crashed over Jari's senses before settling into a calm as he finished the rest of the sour wine he pinched from Shiva's wine racks in Kilkes Seres. He felt like he was starting to forget the tragic event he witnessed, the grisly death of his friend at the hands of someone who did not even deserve a glance from her. The wine bottle slipped from his had, shattered partially against a root of the tree he was sitting under, and rolled away. He watched it with interest. Too much interest. Time seemed to slip by a little better as he looked up at the sky beneath the canopy. There, between patches of clouds, he could see a small gathering of stars. They looked foreign to him, and blurry, and moving strangely in funny circles. Never did he drink half a bottle before in one go. It was not a horrible experience like others said, however, not at all. In fact, he felt nice and warm even against the cold trunk of the tree and the nippy air. His eyelids started to feel heavy, as did his limbs. Lulled by the mixed sounds of distant conversation, laughter, sorrow, and fear, the foxchild nodded off to sleep on the outskirts of the Kilkes Seres' encampment. 1 Mystics Apprentice reacted to this
Saber Lily 1,543 Posted October 31, 2017 -Eclaire- She did. She heard every word of Shiva's, but she was weak. The wound had begun to seal itself slowly, but healing would still be needed. Her strength gone for a time, she could only press closer into Shiva, eyes closing as she was embraced, held...the spark that Shiva had given her pulsated, growing as Eclaire's heart became...harmony. The blood of angel and demon went still in unity, feeling one thing... Her eyes slowly opened. Still weak, unable to hear, she looked at Maxis and Shiva, seeing them. Come back...one last kiss...before I go. The woman was soon eclipsed by a healer, who began chanting, weaving her magic into the wound. Eclaire felt strength, but fatigue. But still, she raised a hand. "Shiva." something in her heart felt wrong. She needed to tell her...whether it be fatigue or a foreboding, delirium or the energy Shiva gave her...she just wanted to say it...before she slept for....probably a good day or so. Elrandir 783 Posted November 2, 2017 - Rabiyu - At the roof of Raiden's Villa -So far things were calm around the city, thanks to the ancient rune being woven into the spell protecting the city Rabiyu could see anything happening. It was calm, but like they said, this was the calm before the storm. Her body was slowly healing thanks to a healing spell that was working while her body wasn't moving, it would take some more time until she was back at full strenght."Is there a reason you do not want to remember? You know what you can do, if only you remembered, you could literally turn all of Kilkis Seres to stone while they are recovering."Those thoughts were coming back, the kind of thoughts that recently surfaced after being on the battlefield. She didn't wanted to spill unnecessarily blood, there was no point to that."Or perhaps cover all the city with ice that not even the Frostbearer would be able to withstand. Unleash the fury of the heavens, you could level the city, turn everyone into ashes, unleash fire more powerful than that of the legendary Incandescent Dragon herself! You just need to stop hesitating."No. That was the answer she kept giving herself every time the other side of her mind asked her to set it free from its chains. She was not going to destroy for the sake of detroying. Everyone here had a purpose and she was going to fullfil hers without the help of those dark thoughts. At least, that's what she hoped.- Sifrei Mond - With Helios -"History has a tendency to repeat itself, that is true, and it always will be, I suppose," Sifrei answered, "but I understand the Frostbearer to an extent. While humans life are relatively short, we fey were graced with life eternal, we can die from injuries or diseases, and even then we far exced the life of a human."The Archangel wondered about the Queen of Kilkis Seres, they knew of her, of her father, and what they did in the past, and yet she clinged to the notions of her late father, that the barrier between both worlds was needed, and perhpas it WAS needed, but one couldn't try to make amends if that barrier was still active, at least that's what Sifrei thought."Sadly, we can't judge what we don't know. The Frostbearer thinks the barrier is the best option to keep her subjects safe, and that's good," he said, "but neither King Alexander nor Queen Shiva had the right to seal the path between worlds. They never asked and instead just summoned the barrier. I sincerely hope that, given the time, we can make amends and learn to trust each other once more."Sifrei heard faint groaning sounds coming from the bed, apparently Aura was regaining consciousness, after a couple of minutes the young woman finally opened her eyes again."Ugh...I feel horrible..." she whispered, "like someone wanted to rip my spine out."The world was spinning and she felt dizzy, but Aura did manage to notice the archangel next to her bed, and a familiar face."Helios? Is that you?" she asked, "but, but I thought you were, I thought you were with the Queen. What happened? Why are you here?"
Stardustblade358 806 Posted November 2, 2017 - Helios - Side: Mystras Rebellion - Healer Tents - With Aura & Sifrei Mond - Helios looked down, smiling softly as Aura woke up. "Yeah, it's me." Helios said. He frowned momentarily, but chuckled right back. "I was with the Queen, yes. I entered into battle with her army, but...no matter how much she may offer me a new life, a second chance, I can't turn my back on the reality of the situation. The barrier is causing your world to die, and turning a blind eye to it for the sake of one's own desires is selfish. I saw a chance, and I have taken it, and decided that I want to risk my one life in order to help save such a beautiful world and its people, that has so much more to give, despite whatever the Queen has to say. Earth is still young. There is still much more to find and discover. Humanity deserves a second chance. " Helios said. He gently nudged her. "Besides, you're my friend, aren't you? I don't plan on leaving you behind. Not now, not ever. At least, until you get over your fear of flying." Helios added playfully. Auron was gone, but he would do all to make sure that Aura made it out to the end of it. "Rest a bit longer if you need to. Everyone is resting and recovering at the moment. Do you need anything? Sifrei and I were just getting to know each other." - Arthur - Side: Mystras Rebellion - Healer Tents - Arthur sat in a corner, pulling his knees against his chest, making himself small as he held his diary, writing down in it the words he couldn't tell anyone else. He wrote everything he remembered down, but was had trouble when it came to the part where he was trapped by the Wendigo Fey. He...couldn't clearly remember what happened in there. He almost lost consciousness, and remembered a sad memory from long ago. After that he...activated something. More than just the lightning of his sword. It felt different from that. Familiar even. "(But what was that?)" Arthur pursed his lips, looking down at his hands. Could he even summon it again? Or was it just something out of luck? No...something was odd. "(I need to remember more.)" Elrandir 783 Posted November 4, 2017 - Sifrei and Aura - With Helios -Aura was listening to Helios, it was such a relief to know that he was doing fine, well, as fine as anyone could do given the current situation. She agreed with most of what the young fey said, except the part of risking his life, this made Aura think of her brother, the brother she had just lost, she wondered if what she saw was a dream, or perhaps Aurion did came to say good bye."Flying...? Please, no more flying, at least for awhile," she answered Helios, "I would like some water, if that's alright,"The Archangel nodded and went to get some water for Aura. On the other hand Aura was watching Sifrei walk away. Somehow she felt guilty over something, she couldn't remember exactly what it was, but it had something to do with the Archangel."I hope you're getting along with him," Aura said to the Shapeshifter, "Sifrei is a good person, at least he has been since the time me and...and Aurion arrived at Mystras."The young woman subconsciously clutched the sheets of the bed thightly, she has to get used to the absence of her brother, it would take time, but he said that they would meet again. After a few seconds Sifrei came back with a glass of water."Here, just drink slowly," Sifrei said, "we don't want you to feel sick."Aura took the glass of water and slowly drank the water, all while watching Sifrei and Helios."So, uhm," she muttered, "did we...did we won?"Sifrei looked at Helios before nodding."Indeed we did," he replied, "The battle was won, but the Fros...the Queen of Kilkis Seres asked to meet with Lord Raiden to discuss how to end the war without any more bloodshed."Aura looked at the glass of water that was resting between her hands. She found the idea that the Queen wanted to stop the war was ridiculous, if only she had been smart enough, she could have stopped the battle from happening, maybe her brother would have been alive then, and all those who perished in battle. Stardustblade358 806 Posted November 6, 2017 - Helios - Side: Mystras Rebellion - Healer Tents - With Aura & Sifrei Mond - "We're getting along just fine. I can tell he means well, so far. The bird agreed, at least." Helios said, before frowning at the thought about the reunion between the two rulers of the Overworld. The queen and lord Raiden would meet, and the result of the meeting could be the difference between a peaceful solution to a bloody end. It was...absolutely inconvenient and stupid. The lives of thousands of loyal soldiers and citizens alike relied on the emotions and decisions of mortals. Not that there was anything they could possibly do about it. Leaders were leaders by right, and they looked up to them for guidance and protection. Yet, the emotional stubbornness of the queen and the rules that have been set by her father versus the insistence of new ideas and acceptance of Raiden, the meeting could go either way. "It sucks." Helios finally said, sighing as he looked over at Aura. He gently reached out, resting his hand on her back and gently rubbing her back reassuringly. "But there's not much we can do about it. All we can do is hope, pray, wait...and see what comes out of it." Helios smiled softly at Aura. "Let's have some faith and hope for the best." Helios couldn't tell if he was telling that to Aura, or to himself, his hand moving to the necklace as he held it gently. This had already taken so many lives over something that could have been avoided, settled without any bloodshed or death. Yet it happened, and for all they knew, it would happen again and again until one side was left...if there was anyone left in the end at all.
Endless Thundaga 533 Posted November 6, 2017 Jynn Venas-Dream Jynn enters the castle and climbs the stairs to his mother's office. A figure seems to be sitting in Shiva's chair. It was the queen herself. "Mother." Jynn walks behind her and tries to start a conversation. "Mother, what are you doing here?" She doesn't reply. Suddenly, someone knocks on the door. The day was growing late as Shiva placed down her quill, resting her forehead on the palm of her hand. So much was to be done in preparation of this war, and it seemed there were countless correspondence required from her. She really wanted some time to herself, perhaps to sit down with a cup of tea and a good book. Time was a luxury that Shiva no longer had, however, and such desires would simply have to be put on hold until the conflict with Mystras was resolved. A knock interrupted her thoughts, attention being brought to the door of her study. "You may enter," was her response, setting a book over top of her writings so that they weren't visible to whomever was about to enter. Jynn enters the room with great reluctance. This was not going to go well, but he must speak out. He closes the door behind him and faces his mother. He held his hands behind his back. "I must have a word with you." He walks towards the bookshelf and faces it. "Why did you lie to me about the world below's status?" He faces back towards Shiva. "Out of all the people around you, why did you feel the need to lie to your own son? Why?" Shiva's lips tightened in a straight line upon Jynn's question. She didn't know what she was expecting, but this opening for a conversation wasn't what she had in mind. "Jynn," she started with a sigh, setting her writing supplies aside and rising from her desk. "It is not that I have been dishonest with you. I felt that the details weren't necessary for you to know. Why trouble you with matters that will not affect you, chiefly ones that bear a heavy burden? I had full intention of sharing this with you when the time came, when the day arrived that you would take my place as ruler of Kilkis Seres. You cannot expect me to come out and simply tell you everything outright, can you?" The queen was slightly exasperated by that point. Her and her son hadn't been getting along well for weeks, and she was growing tired of the tension between them. "So you believe it's ok to keep lying to me until last minute, before I'm coronated about this? Even then, we would have this same conversation, because it is not the the situation that's bothering me, even though I believe that you should feel ashamed of yourself for leaving an entire world to erode away from existence, but it is the fact that you lied to me." He walks up to the desk with his hands still behind his back. "When Henry revealed the truth, do you realize how heartbreaking it was to find out that you, my mother, would actually drive me away from the truth? It felt like a thousand needles were piercing my chest. I always believed in you, I idolized you. I thought you could do no wrong. Hmph. Guess I was only fooling myself." He puts his hands on the table. "If you were going to tell me anyway, then what is the point of not telling me sooner?" He then stands back up and narrows his eyes. "This revelation makes me suspicious. What else are you hiding from me?" "I simply didn't tell you of the condition of the world below because it was never relevant. I don't want to worry you needlessly." She spread her arms wide, voice raising slightly. "Think about it, Jynn: you're a father now. Would you not wish to protect Bherna from all of the evils of the world, for as long as you could? Is there truly a crime in sheltering your child? I'm sorry if you dislike my choices, but they are the choices I made. I suppose you have been old enough for quite some time now for me to tell you the secrets of the world below, but where would I start? "Maybe you're finally just starting to see that I'm fallible, that I make mistakes just as easily as any other fey or human in existence. I've done what I've thought was best and necessary to protect you, but I suppose that wasn't good enough for you." She tilted her head, hair falling from her face and down her back. "Perhaps I should've been more forthcoming, but what difference would it have made? Things would not have changed. You just would've had to suffer heartbreak far sooner, something that I desired to spare you from." When Jynn asked what else she was hiding her thoughts couldn't help but drift to Raiden, but this didn't seem like a good time to bring that up. Not now, when Jynn was already furious with her for the destruction of the human world. Instead the queen merely shook her head. "Jynn, I'm sorry. Truly, I have never wanted to hurt or disappoint you." Jynn was unable to reply. Shiva was right, she had done everything she could to raise him, and right now he is sounding ungrateful. He thinks about Bherna for a moment. There were a couple of instances where he couldn't be honest to her. "I would be a hypocrite if I continued arguing." His eyebrow raises when Shiva claims that she didn't want upset him. He turns back around with a question he's been wanting answered for the longest time. "I'll ask a question that should not be hard to answer, and is something that I have every right to know; who is my real father?" There was a long pause between the two, and Jynn did not want anymore of his time wasted. "Never mind. I don't want to inconvenience you." He walks back to the door and opens it, about to leave. "Good day." He leaves and closes the door. His footsteps can be heard going down the stairs. Jynn was a bit hurt from the scene, being reminded that his mother had lied to him. He closes his eyes and tries to make it all go away. Jynn Venas-His abode near Mystras Jynn wakes up in his bed. Apparently Mel was able to locate this place without Jynn's help. He sits up while wiping his eyes. 1 Mystics Apprentice reacted to this
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted November 6, 2017 --Everyth Castanova -- Outside camp with Henry-- Her violet eyes widened, locking on Henry's. They seemed strangely gentler than she remembered, perhaps because they weren't both wanting to kill each other as they used to. Her rosy lips parted, though no words came out. For a moment silence hummed around them, with only the sound of birds chirping and crickets in song breaking it. "Never mind, it's nothing," Everyth murmured softly, breaking eye contact to meet the ground. She couldn't begin to say what she was going to. How would she even say it? It was unlike her, or at least that is what she told herself. She drew a step away, suddenly conscious of how close the two had been standing. "It has been a very long day, and I am not feeling well. I think I will go back to camp and rest. Won't you come along?" You could use the rest, too, she thought to herself, eyes flickering toward his wounded chest and biting her lip. --Shiva de la Alexandria -- Leaving Kilkis Seres campgrounds-- The queen couldn't help but laugh as they clones emerged, insisting that she kiss them as well. This is what she'd always adored about Maxis, whether he realized that he were funny or not. She held her side, which ached from how hard she had laughed. It felt good to laugh; it had been so very long since she last had done so. A smile now remained planted on her lips as she gripped Maxis' hand tightly, nodding as they prepared to part ways. "Thank you, Maxis, for everything. No matter what the outcome tonight, remember how important you are to me. To this kingdom. Kilkis Seres wouldn't be what it is today without you. You have my eternal gratitude, and affection." Shiva withdrew a letter from a leather pouch on her thigh, turning it in her hands a moment before extending it to Maxis. "Should I not return by dawn, please give this letter to Eclaire. And . . . take care of the girl. I haven't been there for her as I've desired or that she deserves. This is the very least I can do, and even that is not much." With that, Shiva turned and disappeared into the foliage of the early night, long braid swaying behind her. It is time to settle this, Odin. --Elia Cabret -- Kilkis Seres camp-- The fairy wasn't up to par, but she was at least in better shape than she had been upon arriving in the healer's tent. Her wings were wrapped in bandages, and she had been given tonics that eased the pain. The wound to her wing would take a fair amount of time to heal, but at least she would not be losing the wing, and the damage wouldn't be permanent. She would have to avoid the skies for a while, but she could tolerate that. As she wandered the camp upon bare feet and a simple white gown, she noticed the familiar kitsune. She ran up to him from behind and gave him the biggest bear hug she could, not realizing that he was indeed asleep. "Oh, Jari! Jari, you're okay!" she cried loudly, burying her nose into his shoulder as tears streamed forth, as well as snot. "I saw so many people die, and I haven't seen any of our group of friends. I was so scared that I lost you, too." --King Alderon -- Gravely injured -- Mystras Healers tent near Helios-- "It truly astounds me that, despite what the humans have put you through, that you would turn down a chance at redemption with your queen and still fight for our survival." The king propped himself on an elbow, a weak smile gripping the edges of his mouth. He looked considerably worn, and incredibly weak. He fixated his gaze on Helios, though he seemed a little out of focus. "You, my lad, have a lot more character than I ever could have imagined. Stronger than my finest men, and far more pure of heart. I"--the king winced in pain, leaning back on his pillow and breathing heavily for several seconds--"I have made many grave mistakes during my reign, though in time I hope to correct them. Forgive me, boy, for what I had ultimately caused you to suffer in my world. I have learned much during my time here in your world, valuable lessons that I wish I hadn't had to wait so long to learn. Perhaps . . . one day, I may make it up to you. Or at least try." 3 Scrapmaster, Stardustblade358 and Nero Kunivas reacted to this
Stardustblade358 806 Posted November 7, 2017 (edited) - Helios - Side: Mystras Rebellion - Healer Tents - With Aura & King Alderon + Arthur - Helios felt the hair at the back of his neck stand on its end as he heard an all too familiar voice. It was an unintentional sensation as his heart began to race and the grip on the talisman momentarily tightened. His mind knew better; he was no longer in danger from him, they were no longer enemies, and yet his subconscious screamed otherwise. He took a deep breath, looking over as King Alderon lay on his bed. His eyes quickly narrowed at his physique, he was terribly wounded, and yet forced the pain away for the sake of speaking to him. Helios let go of the talisman, turning to Alderon fully. He paused. What could he possibly say? Not too long ago he was in chains, cursing out at this man, threatening him that the moment he stepped out of them he would tear him into pieces for all he had done. Now he was free, and could easily do as he said so many times before. Yet...he would not. He had a lot of time to think. To realize. To learn. Now all of this anger he once had turned into...hope? Determination. Stubbornness, for sure. "...when we left this world to yours, we left to accomplish many wishes. The thrill of discovery of a world long forgotten, to become the pathfinders and trailblazers, even if we were labeled as traitors. We fell in love with your world. Your simplicity, your history, your stubbornness and tenacity of surviving despite the dying world around you. You had no magic, no powers, and yet you rose...You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares." Helios reached out, pausing a second as his hand shook for a single moment, before laying a gentle hand on Alderon's. He had learned much. Now it was time for the king to learn too. "I will not lie. I still am angry. Deep inside, I very much am. Angry that things went the way it did. That I can't change it. That we had to go through what we did, and that Arianna died the way she did. But...it's an anger that is covered in grief that cannot be fixed, because changing the past is impossible. Whether it will go away is yet to be seen...but I have long decided that it will not control me as it did before. As for you..." Helios paused. "I cannot forgive you. I understand what you did out of desperation, but what you have done is unforgivable. But that is just me. Your people, however, have yet to give their verdict. Be the king that they need, that they look up to and deserve. Take this chance to rebuild. Maybe by the end, your good deeds will outdo your bad ones...only time will tell, and you have much of that left." "Your majesty!" Helios looked up, seeing Arthur standing by the doorway, smiling to see his king awake, and even better, alive. Helios waved him over. "Hey, he just woke up." Helios said casually. Arthur stepped closer, pausing before bowing down in respect. "I am glad that you are alive, my king." Arthur said, a genuine smile on his face. "Do you require anything? You shouldn't force yourself, your wounds look terrible. I-I mean, not that you look terrible, well, you do, you look like you got hit by a carriage, but that's normal considering you came out of the battlefield, sir!" Arthur said, stuttering over his words in his signature panic. At least, some things don't change as much. Scrapmaster 1,731 Posted November 8, 2017 - Henry - The Augmented man - Speaking with Everyth - Henry didn't mind Everyth's distance to him, which was rather short. He was just glad she wasn't wanting to kill him this time. He simply nodded with a chuckle as Everyth dismissed her earlier statement and his question along with it. He wasn't about to pry. He did, however, quickly caught up to her offer. Henry didn't say anything instantly, he simply smirked as he understood what she meant...or what she didn't mean. Especially the fact that she bit her lip. "As much as I would love to...I doubt i'd be welcome there." Henry told her, with simple, yet gentle words. He tried not to hurt her feelings, as he knew a woman's feelings were quite fickle. "And If any of the soldiers saw us together. Rumors would spread like wildfire...and I don't want you bearing the burden of a bad reputation among Alderon's units." Henry added, a part of him really wished to go, another thought best not to. "Im sorry..." Henry finished. Wishing she was not hurt by this. However if Everyth paid attention to Henry's lines, the man was slightly blushing...and he was genuinely shy, the Dreadnought wasn't as good with women as one would think. - Draksis - The Black Knight - Healer tents - "I too, must apologize" Draksis spoke, as he slowly walked into the scene, none the worse for wear, he had just arrived, and had been supervisioning his unit's treatments back at their own tent. Casualties to the black knights were minimal, as was their custom. Protect one another till the enemy falls, and if they should fall, they would fall together. "I apologize for how you were treated back then. I wish I could have done something but I could not, mostly by restrictions placed upon me." Draksis explained to Helios, with sheer sincerity and simpathy in his tone as he bowed his head to the boy. Draksis then turned to Arthur and the king. "Arthur, breathe, you're stuttering." Draksis spoke to Arthur with a casual tone, as if he was speaking to an old friend. Before he turned to Alderon, "I am glad to see you Alive, my king." Draksis spoke to him. As he took a small chair and sat down with the group. "Black knights have suffered minimal casualties, most wounded should make full recoveries soon...Alex...however, might take some more time before being fully healed..." Draksis spoke, his voice cracking as he said. - Maxis - Ze Living Armor - With Shiva - Seeing Shiva laugh, whether from his clones or something else, would have brought a tear of happiness in Maxis's eye...if he had eyes, that is. It made him happy to see her smile, even if just for a small laugh. He hated seeing her, being eaten away by her queenly duties. Shiva, however, quickly handed him a letter. Explaining it was for Eclaire...in case she didn't return by dawn. The thought of Shiva not returning, terrified the armor to the very core of his lingering spirit...and spirits. He could not bear such a thought, but he had to swallow any type of fear he felt. As he nodded to Shiva, "I...will look after her as well. I promise you this." Maxis promised Shiva, he was not going to stop her from going, after all. As Maxis saw Shiva, slowly disappearing behind the foliage of the night, letter in hand. Maxis could not stop his longing stare in the direction she went. "Be Safe...please." Maxis muttered. "I don't want to lose you..." 1 Nero Kunivas reacted to this
Stardustblade358 806 Posted November 8, 2017 (edited) - Helios - Side: Mystras Rebellion - Healer Tents - With Aura, King Alderon, Arthur & Draksis - -A few minutes ago- "Long time no see, Arthur." The young knight felt his heart jump to his throat as his body froze in place. That voice. Arthur slowly looked up, seeing the man standing in front of him with a familiar tinge of blue in his eyes much like his own. Rugged, tall, fit...and not a single year older since he last saw him. Arthur's expression slowly changed. From disbelief it slowly turned to anger, gripping his clothing tightly. "You!" Arthur hissed, meaning for it to be a threat, only to come out as a miserable whisper. He hurried to his feet, standing up to the man, who only seemed to coo at him further. "Look at you. You've gotten taller." He said, a hand quickly taking a hold of Arthur's chin as he moved his head around. "Those scars are new, though. Did a cat get you?" Arthur was quick to slap the hand away. But before he could say anything, the man had already wrapped his arms around Arthur's body, a hand quickly covering his mouth. "Let's do this outside, shall we? The people here need their peace and quiet." The man said, walking off while dragging Arthur along with him. For the moment, Arthur allowed it. The two walked out of the tent, stepping away to the back where they could have their conversation. The moment the man let go of Arthur, however, the young knight went loose. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" The man didn't seem to be startled. He expected it, it seems. Arthur was livid by this point. "You! How did you even get here?! Is this where you went?! Why you left?! HOW?! WHY?! HOW DID YOU EVEN FIND ME?! IS THIS SOME F*CKED UP PRANK?!" Arthur screamed, his voice echoing loud into the night as his face turned red in anger. The man raised his arms in defense. "Calm down, you'll start bleeding again." He insisted. It didn't help. Next thing he knew, Arthur was charging at him, his sword out of its sheath as a familiar blue lightning sparked from its blade. The man didn't even dodged it, instead allowing the sword to hit his hand as he gripped the blade, stopping it in its tracks. Arthur gasped, pushing further and then pulling back, but the sword wouldn't budge under the man's grip. The man whistled as the sparks flew across the blade and over his palm. "You're becoming a natural already." He said. He watched Arthur struggle for a bit longer before finally letting go of the sword, allowing Arthur to fall back. "That anger will not help unless you control it, however." "What do you want?!" Arthur looked up, glaring as sparks flew from his skin. "What do you want from me?! Why are you doing this?! What the hell ARE you?!" Arthur asked, tears streaming down his face. The man tilted his head slightly before sighing. "You know the answer to that, Arthur-!" "HOW COULD YOU?!" Arthur screamed again, agony in his voice. "You left us! You left all of us! You left mom, you left sis, you left me! Have you any idea what you did?! How much mom cried for you?! How many times sis asked when you were coming home?! You left with no warning, no reason..." By this point, Arthur's voice broke, rasping as he sobbed. Anger. Sadness. Shock. Too many emotions in such little time. The man watched, before slowly taking a seat in front of Arthur. "Arthur." He said. Arthur continued to sob. "Arthur." He repeated. This time, Arthur looked up, his glare piercing right through. "I did tell you that you would understand when you were older, didn't you? That you wouldn't be able to understand back then...not you, not your sister, not your mother." "I don't care." Arthur responded, shaking his head. "Didn't you love us?! Were we just a damn game?!" "Of course I did! Which is exactly why I left!" "Oh really?! Then what is it?! What's your grand excuse?! Are you one of them?! A Fey?! An angel?! Let me guess, you're actually a three headed unicorn with wings!" Arthur asked, by this point utterly frustrated. "So you couldn't remain with humans any longer?!" The man stared. "...that was...creatively rude." He began, reaching down for Arthur's sword, picking it up in his hands. "But you're not far off from the truth." He offered Arthur the sword. Arthur glared at it. "I don't want it." "Just touch it." Arthur glared up, then back at the sword. He gently reached out, laying a couple of fingers to grip the handle. Suddenly blue sparks surrounded him, filling his veins with boundless energy. It felt so...natural. Warm. The sparks seemed to dance off his skin, surrounding him like a cloak with a blue glow. "When the barrier was erected, not all of us left. Some of us remained, living among humanity, watching it evolve, and sometimes, even influencing its development, creating the legends and myths that fascinate you to this day. Wondering from place to place, never staying for long to avoid suspicion of our supposed immortality. Then I got tired. I wanted to try to be human after watching them grow. So I made up an identity, a name, and a profession, and became a knight...and then I met your mother." The man chuckled. "A stubborn beauty with a heart of gold. She reminded me of every wonderful quality that humanity could earn. Why keeping the world alive was worth it in the end. Then...we had you and your sister." Arthur couldn't even look at him, instead staring down at the sword as he heard his words. The feeling in his heart, his memory, it wasn't his. It was shared and yet...so overwhelming. What he failed to notice was that besides them, the world around them had stopped its movement. For only light could possibly be faster than time itself. "Then why...?" "To protect you." Before Arthur could stop it, the man dropped the sword and wrapped his arms around him, hugging him tightly. "As a knight I did my best to be human. But as time passed suspicion arose. Never once did I age. My injuries healed faster than any human. Then I messed up, and in a single act of instinct, I summoned lightning to my aid...everyone in my squad saw it. There was no hiding it now." His grip on Arthur tightened. "It wouldn't be long before they came for me. I had to leave for the sake of making sure that they didn't involved you too." Arthur moved slightly at the sense of something wet...tears...not his own. "I wanted to bring you with me, all of you. But what could I have said? That all of the life I have shared with you was all a lie and that now we had to be on the run from all you knew? To give myself in and let yourselves be ostracized for harboring a monster? I couldn't let that happen. Not to the only family I've ever had in all of my lifetimes." By this point the man was sobbing, holding Arthur close. "I never strayed far. You have no idea how much I wanted to return. I always made sure that you had rain in dry days, that your crops wouldn't be affected by the barrier's drain, but I was so afraid to involve you into something none of you were ready for...oh how I've missed you." Arthur couldn't help it, silently crying into the man's shoulder. "When the Feys were captured, I knew it wasn't long before the interactions of the worlds came to be once more. When Alderon left for this world, I followed closely. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I can't be forgiven. But I never stopped loving you. I never stopped loving any of you." And then, Arthur finally broke, allowing himself to cry loudly, his throat hurting from holding back his wails as hiccups followed close behind. "Please come home!!!" Arthur hiccuped. "I-I wanted to become like you, so I became a knight! I ranked the top of my squadron!" Arthur cried, the man smiling as he gently wiped away the tears. "And you have grown to become a better man than I'll ever be. I can never be as proud of anyone else as I am of you." He whispered, Arthur looking at him with tear stained eyes, this time however, he had the smallest, warmest of smiles on his lips. "Sister wants to become a doctor when she grows older. I have fallen in love with the most amazing person, I want you to meet her one day!" The man simply nodded, relishing the moment. "Please come home." The man frowned. "I will. Now that both worlds are aware of each other, there is nothing stopping me. I promise you, Arthur. When this war is over, regardless who wins, I will rejoin you and will never leave any of you again. But I ask of you...wait a bit longer." Arthur frowned at the idea, but eventually just nodded, receiving a gentle kiss on his forehead. Suddenly the arms that surrounded him disappeared. As Arthur opened his eyes, he didn't see a man any longer. Instead he saw a large wolf silhouette made out of blue lightning, its eyes glowing yellow as its long tail wrapped itself around Arthur. "This war is not over yet. I feared that I would end up losing you to this and that I wouldn't be able to do a thing...I'm so glad that you proved me wrong once again." He spoke, his voice with a slight echo as he leaned closer, rubbing its forehead against Arthur once more. "What...are you?" The wolf smirked. Darn it, he's been waiting for that question all this time, hasn't he? "I'm known by many names. But many call me, Raiju." With a final glance, he used his tail to gently caress Arthur's cheek. "You must go. Your king awaits you...be brave, Arthur." Suddenly, with a snap of lightning, he was gone, leaving Arthur sitting down in the patch as time resumed. He stared for a few moments, collecting his thoughts as new ones entered into his mind. Once he was calm, he looked down at the sword. For a moment, finally, dozens of questions were answered, dozens of mysteries now made sense. It wasn't as satisfactory as he had hoped...but now it was just one other goal to add to the list of things to fight for. "I'll be brave." He said, sheathing his sword away, taking one final glance at the lightning runes on its blade before standing up. "My king awaits." He muttered. Then it hit him, gasping as he wiped away his tears. "The king!" Helios looked over at Draksis, surprised to see him standing out of all things. The knight was of age yet it seemed he was not ready to kick the bucket just yet. Helios waved his hand slightly to Draksis when he apologized. "Soldiers are men following orders from a higher calling. To do otherwise would be considered treacherous. I accept your apology. I do also apologize for attempting to bite your arm off more than one time." Helios said. Arthur looked over at Draksis, smiling to see that he was alive, but frowned slightly at the mention of Alex. "No." Arthur muttered. Alex was the one to bring him out of his frozen state after the murder of the fey on the battlefield. Injured yet doing his best to help him before himself. Ah, there came in the guilt. "...regardless, now we just have to wait until Lord Raiden returns with the verdict, don't we?" Arthur asked. Helios nodded, looking down. "Lord Raiden and Queen Shiva will meet, and whether it will mean the end of this war, or the declaration of it further, relies on whether Lord Raiden can create peace with the Queen." Helios said, sighing at the end. Thousands of lives relying on whether or not they could get along and change each other's minds. It was...certainly depressing to think about it that way. "All we can do is wait...and hope." Helios looked up, staring at Arthur before smiling. "I also want to apologize for attempting to throw gravy at the princess. I was quite the chore, wasn't I?" Arthur's attention quickly turned to Helios, annoyed. "Tell me about it! Your aim was pretty good, too!" Arthur paused. Visco. He hadn't seen her in so long. She still remained in his mind. Her laughter. Her smile. He was fighting for her too. He had yet to give her the flowers! Helios gave an amused smile as he watched Arthur smile at his thoughts. "Thinking about your girlfriend, aren't you?" "WHY YOU-!" Edited November 8, 2017 by Stardustblade358
Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted November 8, 2017 - Soren Monroe - Kilkis Seres Campgrounds - After Meksis had left, Soren was left to wander the Campgrounds, a few soldiers met his gaze, granting him a slew of reactions: Interest, confusion, resentment and for a particular warrior; disgust. Soren met their views with his own expression: Sorrow. He knew already it was going to be difficult for him to gain anything back, be it station or respect, he had a long journey ahead of him...but whatever the case, no matter the looks he got, it was all up to Soren to make it easier for himself. The looming question over his head however, was where does he start? Confusingly, Soren caught wind of a familiar figure bathed in Light, taking flight in a hasty fashion...where was Meksis going? - Meksis, Armour of Light, the Chaperone - Shiva's Tent - Meksis walked into Shiva's tent, but much to his surprise, the Queen was not present, nor was Maxis or her Retainer. Perplexed, the Chaperone quickly exited the tent and ran around the Campsite, asking a few passers-by if they had seen Shiva, but none could offer him any solace or even so much as a direction to her location. Meksis quickly became frantic, rapidly looking around his person. Where had she gone and where was Maxis? He had to speak to her. Much to Meksis's relief, and yet confusion, he caught a glimpse, in the distance and disappearing into the night...Queen Shiva was...leaving? Surely not...but, what for? Meksis had to know and knew that if she was doing anything close to what he was thinking, she needed company, someone to help her out if things went wrong. Briefly, Meksis activated his full power, Solidarity of the Chaperone, the radiance of his power astonishing several soldiers around him, and used his power of Flight to close in to Shiva's approximate location and land near her, his power quickly being turned off upon doing so as he extended a hand and jogged toward the Monarch. "Queen Shiva, hold a moment! Forgive me, but where are you going?" Meksis called out, though he was a little worn out, rapidly shifting between states was taxing on his spirit. - Nergal, Remnant of Meksis - Healer's Tent w/ Yevgeni - Once Yevgeni knelt beside Nergal's bedstead, the latter responded in kind by propping himself upon his elbow as to face the Elf better, his eyes fluttering for a moment before centering upon Yevgeni and a weak smile formed upon his face. "I can only hope now he is everything I believe him to be..." Nergal thought to himself, taking a moment to relish in his newfound life and the very fact he has hope now. "Your lack of recollection as to my presence in said Royal Court is understandable, for I was not there. I do not truly fight for Queen Shiva or Kilkis Seres, I joined the side of her Army in the heat of the moment, to seize an opportunity, as it were. Sometime during the fighting however...I grew beyond what I once was, a hollow man without a heart. Now my interest in you has peaked, though take that not in the wrong way, but as an invitation, an opportunity for yourself!" Nergal whispered to Yevgeni, consciously ensuring his voice remains low despite his swelling feelings. He then relaxed his pained face and his smile faded but his expression became more...alive. "My interest in you is born from my belief in that we have a common goal, you and I...tell me, what is your name? What is your opinion of the Monarch of Kilkis Seres? Where do you think the worlds need to go from here? And is there anything in this world that can grant...something more, to a person?" These questions Nergal put forward would evaluate Yevgeni, though the last one was born purely from a desire Nergal had, to become greater than he was and he believed this Elf could help him attain it. Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted November 9, 2017 --Everyth Castanova -- Mystras camp outskirts with Henry-- A frown furrowed Everyth's brows as she repeated what he said slowly, as though confused. "My . . . reputation?" It was then that realization hit her, which both flustered and annoyed the woman. "I didn't mean for you to join me. Not in the literal sense. I meant for you to return to camp. That is all. I wouldn't have meant, well, anything else." Was that what Henry had even meant? She wasn't sure; she'd never been good at reading between lines, but she was embarrassed at the very thought. Everyth folded her arms and turned away, though the color in her cheeks slowly began to die along with her anguish. "Well, take care of yourself out here, at least. I dislike the thought of you being out here all alone, without proper accommodations or medical care, but I cannot force you to join us at the Mystran camp. Raiden seems like a good and unbiased man; I think he would welcome you." With that, Everyth started to walk away, though paused after a few steps to glance over her shoulder. "Oh, and Henry?" She offered him a slight smirk, looking a bit more like her mischievous and confident self. "Don't die in the night. You still owe me dinner, remember?" --Queen Shiva -- leaving Kilkis Seres camp-- The ice queen froze as she heard a voice call her name. "Hmm, yes?" She turned on heel to find Meksis, causing her eyes to widen in surprise. The suit of armor was jogging toward her, though seemed incredibly fatigued. Shiva clashed her hands in front of her, bowing her head. "I have a meeting to attend with Lord Raiden. We have a score to settle, and I have promised to attend alone." She hesitated, sensing that this would probably not go over very well with the Chaperone. "I'll be back shortly." Would he try to stop her? Would he attempt to join her? She didn't know, though lying about her whereabouts didn't exactly appeal to her either. Meeting with Raiden alone would've been foolhardy on its own anyway, let alone telling no one of her destination to boot. --Yev Malachite -- Kilkis Seres' healer tent-- Yev quickly stole a glance over his shoulder upon Meksis' questions, as though someone would listen in and steal all of the secrets of the Overworld that they uttered. His reaction alone likely gave away the fact that he knew something, or that something about Meksis' questions made him uneasy. The blond stiffened, expression unreadable. "It is a curious thing to join an army on a whim during war to profit others beyond yourself, specifically me," Yev stated sharply. The elf was skeptical, to say the least, and yet his curiosity and optimism got the better of his judgment. "You believe our goals align, but I doubt that you know much of what lies in my heart, or what my goals truly are. If you think that I am a mere puppet of Shiva's, you are very much mistaken. I view her as my own puppet, easily malleable if given the right persuasion. Her ideals are not her own, nor are they mine, and thus I intend to sway her in another direction." He brushed his hair over his shoulder, glancing toward the entrance before uttering in a low voice. "Should she refuse and finally develop a backbone, I have other plans for Kilkis Seres, ones that do not involve her." What this was, he didn't elaborate, but it wouldn't take a person much to put two and two together, especially one who seemed as sharp-minded as the man before Yev. "My name is Yevgeni Malachite. I was the retainer to King Alexander, his confidant and right-hand man. He shared much of his goals and dreams with me, and even shared some of the deepest secrets of our world that few upon this land know of. Before his death he planted a seed, the notion that I could obtain a dream that I thought was nigh impossible. Ever since then I have been seeking this dream, awaiting the day before it can finally become a reality." Yev frowned, studying Nergal a moment before continuing. "But I suppose you already know of the Source of All Life, and are really wondering if I am privy to its existence? If so, the answer is yes, and I firmly believe that it is within reach. "My question to you, however, is this: what interest do you have in this device? What would you profit from it?" --King Alderon -- Mystras tent-- Upon Helios' words the king merely nodded. "Ah, yes, of course. I would expect it to take more than words to earn your forgiveness. Perhaps one day I can instead make up for your loss, but perhaps all I can do is make amends. Regardless, you have my apologies, and newfound respect for your race. Thank you for not holding my own shortcomings against all of humanity. That takes a wise man to see past the faults of one person." It was then that Arthur greeted him, and rather enthusiastically at that. It took much of the king's strength to keep himself upright and follow every word that came forth from the youth's mouth. Eventually he chuckled. "Ah, Arthur, my boy. I am glad to see that you are well. Princess Visco would never forgive me if anything happened to you." Alderon then focused upon Draksis, who took up a seat nearby. "How do you fare, Draksis? And the rest of our human troops? What sort of casualties did we face?"
Elrandir 783 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) - Sifrei and Aura - With Helios, Alderon, Arthur and Arthur - Aura agreed with everything Helios said, there was nothing they could do but hope and pray. That's when the voice of King Alderon was heard, this caught Aura by surprise, Sifrei was glad the human King was alright." Sifrei? Can I ask something," Aura said to the Archangel, "Can we trust the Queen?"Sifrei stared at the human girl for a moment, pondering his answer."That I couldn't answer. You see, her father gave her the responsibility to keep and maintain the barrier, but I have the feeling that there is more than that," Sifrei answered, "The Frostbearer's feelings are quite the mystery. We of the North were order not to meddle in the affairs of the Queen of Kilkis Seres, no matter what.""Why?" Aura asked, "Why would your leaders would order you to avoid any interaction with Kilkis Seres.""The reason, to my understanding, is that after the previous war, when King Alexander created the barrier, our ruler saw the repercussions the barrier would bring to the world below. After he passed away, his daughter, Queen Leviathan, choose to cut any activity with Kilkis Seres and their ways to deal with humans," Sifrei answered, "We have the chance to begin anew, let us hope no more bloodshed is neccessary after today." Scrapmaster 1,731 Posted November 12, 2017 (edited) - Henry - Ze Dreadnought - Out in the night - Henry nodded embarrassedly, scratching the back of his head as Everyth explained her true intentions, he totally misunderstood, but he wasn't gonna take back what he said. He nodded to her dinner offer as she left turning to look at the night sky, he smilled "I'l try to." He replied to her as she went back to her tent. While he looked over the sky he felt...relaxed, even though this world was still alien to him, he could still feel relaxed in it, he figured it was mostly because of Ariana. He was mostly enjoying the moment. Albeit some thoughts still lingered on his mind. 'I wonder what awaits us in the coming days.' 'Possibly more fighting' 'At least i'l have you by my side, right?' 'Of course.' 'I never apologized for what i've done, have it?' 'What do you mean?' 'I mean, killig you.' 'I was going to die soon anyway.' 'yes, but still... 'You need to stop blaming yourself and feeling bad for what you have done. instead, do as Helios said, turn those feelings into power, to move on in your path.' 'Right...' - Draksis - Black knight commander - Conversing with his fellow men...and fey - Draksis enjoyed the moment, he kept a warm smile as Helios and Arthur conversed, without hostility to one another. He was, however, more impressed at Helios's willingness to forgive them for what they have done to him back in their worlds. Although he never had a say in it, Midnea and Alderon took care of it, mostly. He quickly turned to Alderon as the man spoke to him, asking of the casualties. Causing Draksis's jovial face to take up a more serious expression. "Substantial losses to both sides of the armies, we lost many good men, human and feys in this battle. Even with most of our troops equipped with magic resistant gear, many still fell to the sheer force of their army. of course our army had the upper hand. We had many more powerful units in play." Draksis spoke of the war, almost like reporting anything all that happened in perfect detail. "The Black knights capitalized on protecting our flank's healers, Alex and Arthur took down a massive beast and its companion. Albeit Alex lies in bed with a strong fever as we speak, the healers said he'd be fine soon. The wounds he sustained had gotten infected before he got back." Draksis spoke some more, stopping tot catch some breath. "Our losses were minimised by the crushing offense of the shock troop made of Alastor, The Lady Elf, and Henry...I think I don't need to speak who that is, do i?" Draksis spoke as he looked at Alderon and everyone else he sat with. "Even with the casualties we sustained, we should be ready for another engagement, if it does come to it." Draksis finished his explanation. Draksis then looked at Helios, with a sorrowful look on his face. "I heard of your friend, you have my simpathies, not that they ammount to much..." Elrandir 783 Posted November 12, 2017 (edited) - ??? - Outside camp with Henry and Ariana -If one actually payed attention to their surroundings they would have felt the sudden change in temperature, it slowly became hotter and hotter with each passing second."You should do as the fey tells you, human. After all, feys possess great amounts of wisdom. " a gentle, yet commanding voice said to Henry, " One that comes after centuries of experiences. Then again, even feys can make mistakes, just like humans have done in ages past."The voice went silent after a moment, leaving only the sound of the cool wind blowing. After a couple of minutes of silence the voice came back behind The Dreadnought, a female figure made of flames appearing behind him."But I can sense great turmoil within you. Pain and guilt surrounds you, it drags you down, and if you keep those feelings hidden, they will consume you from within, leading you towards an inevitable fate, a fate that you will then realize could have been prevented," the female said, "You think yourself as broken, yet you care for he who passed away, you care for her who lost her other half, for her who still remains within you, for the world below the Sea of Clouds."The figure slowly faded away before Henry could turn around, she then appeared again, this time a few steps in front of Henry. The figure this time was not made of flames, instead, it was a young looking, red-haired woman wearing what looked to be a red dress, with pieces of armor made of gold and another unknown metal, and yet the most striking features were the two horns coming from each side of her head and the fact that her hair looked like it was glowing faintly, like it was burning like a flame, her face was covered by a smooth white porcelain mask from were a set of emerald green eyes could be seen. Perhaps Henry, and even Ariana, would be able to sense the young woman's massive amount of magical power, it being in a completely differently league than that of Queen Shiva, Lord Raiden or any enemy they may have faced during the battle, even when she wasn't trying to show any of it."I would ask for your and your young friend's names, human, but allow me to introduce myself first," the young woman said, "My name is Mielinare, judge and protector of the North. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." I imagine the dress as something like this: (I also didn't post for Rabs since she is just watching over the city, maybe later when she gets a quick visit from her guardian. Sifrei and Aura are talking among themselve and listening to Helios, Alderon and the others.) Edited November 12, 2017 by Elrandir
