Elrandir 783 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) - Caligo - Divine City of Water: Heimdall - Cerulean Palace -This was the dawn of a new day, but one not filled with the usual warmth of the sun above, nor the songs of the nature around the City of Water, this was a cold day, even when winter was yet far away. For the first time in centuries the 13 judges of the North, not counting Judge Magister Eliltari and Judge Mond, were physically present, standing under the calming eyes of the Tide Mother, Leviathan, and her husband, King Asura. It was rather strange that a meeting was requested when no more than a few hours ago both Eliltari and Sifrei offered their report. Asura was the first to raise up and address the two Judges."I was told about the situation regarding the Frostbearer and Raiden of Mystras," he said, his voice calm and collected, " but I cannot hide my surprise that you have requested another meeting so soon after the last one. Is there a reason for that Judge Magister?"It was a strange feeling for Rabiyu to have all the eyes staring at her. The two rulers of the North, their respective courts, and the rest of the judges were paying full attention to whatever she was going to say. She glanced at the silhouette of Sifrei who nodded slightly before looking at the King and Queen once more."As we reported to the Tide Mother last night, Raiden of Mystras and Shiva of Kilkis Seres agreed to a parley to discuss terms in which the fight could be stopped from escalating further. At some point during this discussion Queen Shiva was attacked by an unknown third party and suffered serious injures that, and I regret to say it, resulted in her demise," Rabiyu said while looking at Leviathan, "Rumors around Mystras suggest that it was Raiden himself who betrayed the Queen and attacked her in order to asure victory, others say that it was the actions of a former soldier of the Queen who struck her down. We are not completely sure about the situation.""If I am permitted to interrupt, Your Highness. Judge Magister Eliltari had visions of the coming event, but was unable to learn the true identity of the culprit or their reasoning." Sifrei said to the King, "She also said that the possibility that Raiden was the one who fell last night was also present. That makes us suspect that this supposed third party was responsible for the Frostbearer's fall."The room was silent, and it remained that way for what it felt hours, until the moment hundred of voices erupted from all over the throne room. How was it possible that the Queen of Kilkis Seres was dead, surely it was Raiden's fault. But the Judge Magister said Raiden was innocent and that someone else was trying to frame him for Shiva's murder. The rest of the Judges whispered among themselves, Asura turned his head to look at his dear Wife and sighed before looking at the judges once more."Alas, such a tragic dawn this day has brought. If your suspicions are proven correct, Judge Magister, and Raiden of Mystras is indeed innocent then our goal remains the same. Keep supporting Raiden until we can make sure that both worlds can rejoin," Asura said stoically, "In the case that the Lord of Mystras is indeed the culprit then I am afraid that any help that we offered will be revoked and-"No one had payed enough attention to notice that the stain glass windows around the throne room were growing darker and darker with each passing moment, not even the sound of raindrops was noticed by anyone. It was a strange event, there was no hints of a storm happening early in the day, not today, but destiny worked in mysterious ways. Asura turned to look at his wife and was surprised to notice that the Queen's hair had stopped waving as if it was underwater, now, it laid flat and unmoving, the Tide Mother's eyes were closed and her chest rose and fell at a quick pace. The windows then bursted and took everyone by surprise as a loud roar could be heard coming from the direction of Lake Aelinistil. Asura went to the closest window and gazed towards the lake, his eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing. After two millennia, there she was, the Tide Mother in the flesh. Slowly every fey in the room walked closer to the windows to witness the enormous water serpent wreaking havoc in the middle of the lake. The youngest ones had heard stories about the fury of the ever calm Lady Leviathan, and today they realized that those stories were true. The judges rose from the ground and quickly flew towards the lake, only Mielinare, Eliltari and Sifrei remained behind. At the moment Asura turned to look at the motionless body of his wife, his eyes once again grew wide with surprise. There, in the throne, with eyes open, was Leviathan, but something about her was different, her hair was not floating like it always did, she also looked slightly confused."O King, wherefore does the Lady weep? Why is it that We were released into the world once more while the Lady rises from the deep?" Asked Uinen, a water Nymph and Vessel of the Tide Mother, before looking at the Fire Nymph in front of her, "Ancient Bright One, what is the reason the Lady is in such pain?"Before either Eliltari or Sifrei could listen to Mielinare's reply, the backlash in the arcane flow around the City of Water interfered with their astral projection and they were sent back to were they were resting in Mystras, leaving the outcome of the event surrounded in mystery. - Aura - Mystras Campsite -The night had been calm, or at least that's what Aura thought, at some point in the night she could swore that someone was with her. Once the morning came she was famished, so she wandered for awhile until she found a spot were everyone was eating. She didn't realized how much time she had been there, but once her consciousness came back a group of fey were looking at her with wide eyes."Can I, uh, help you?" The human girl asked. The three feys looked at each other and then back at Aura."Ca' me surprised, lassie, ah didnae knew folk cuid devour a' that in a single meal. " The smallest one said."You must haffe peen guite tired after yestertay's effent correct? I'm not zat zurbrized myzelf." A beautiful looking female said while smiling."These humans sure are something. I am amazed that they managed to survive a battle without the use of magic," The last one, a strange lizard male said,Aura stared at them then at her plate, or plates since she had a few of them in front of her, all of them empty, this surprised the young woman, she actually blushed and coughed a little."S-sorry, I think I was more tired and hungry than I realized," she said while standing up and bowing slightly, "please excuse me."Without waiting for a reply Aura quickly walked away, thinking how it was possible that she had eaten all that food without realizing it, that had been weird even for her She also could still hear the three fey behind her quite clearly, considering the distance between them. After some more time around the tents, asking the Healers about the bodies of the fallen, she managed to find the body of her brother. Even in death he was still smiling, his body was surrounded by a faint yellow light, his wounds were barely visible. Aura spend some time alone, praying that his brother was watching over her. Once enuogh time passed Aura went back to the tents, in the way she heard whispers about the Queen of Kilkis Seres's death at the hands of Raiden, or about a mysterious shadow who was the one who killed the Queen. Was it true? she had to find her friends and find out the truth. After looking for a little longer she caught sight of two familiar faces, those of Henry and Helios."Morning, friends I keep hearing that the Queen fell last night at the hands of Raiden, is it true?" she said as she got closer to the two, "Somehow I do not think that Raiden is that kind of person, at least, not since the time we have seen him, which is not that much to be honest. This outcome means more troubles for both sites, and even more for us humans." - Judges - Mystras: Outside Raiden's Villa - To say that the morning had been quite eventful was quite an understatement, whatever had happened back home was sumething beyond their control. The Tide Mother went out of control and who knew what had happened after that. "I am sure the rest of the judge will take care of that, Sifrei. There is no need for us to return. Besides, our orders remain the same unless Lord Raiden is guilty of such act," Rabiyu said to Sifrei, "Let us keep our thoughts in order and deal with out own situation here. Take some time while we wait to see if Lord Raiden will address this issue."At this point Rabiyu and Sifrei went their separate ways.- Sifrei - Mystras Camp -The Archangel was quite disturbed by the events in the City of Water, not only the Tide Mother appeared in the Lake, but a huge magical backlash interfered with the astral projection of both Rabiyu and him. Still, they had to focus on the current situation. While wandering around the campsite Sifrei noticed Mariel flexing her wings, as if trying to fly, which didn't actually happen. She appeared to have provisions for a journey, but where? Sifrei didn't known."Good morning , Mariel," he said as he walked towards the Guardian Angel, "Where are you going this early in the morning? At this point I suppose you have heard the rumors about what happened between Lord Raiden and the Frostbearer. Shouldn't we wait for a briefing of the situation? Or are you planning to investigate these rumors by yourself?"- Rabiyu - Mystras: Raiden's villa courtyard -First the thing inside her, then Alastor's visit to talk about dragons, which was interesting, then the news about Raiden and Shiva, and now the problem back in the North. Fate worked in strange ways, indeed. Rabiyu wondered if telling the King about her visions was a good idea, Sifrei had good intentions, but what if she was wrong, her gift only showed her possible futures, after all."There is no use in worrying, not now," she thought, "The city remained safe and that's what I was ordered to do."The Elf had seen many events happening around the city last night, thanks to her rune, some events were dull, some interesting, others questionable, even the Black Witch had been strangely calm, Rabiyu thought that while she may be bad news, she didn't had anything to do with the events of last night. For now she was going to remain at the villa for a little while longer. Perhaps the Lord of Mystras would return home before addressing the rumors about his supposed betrayal to the Queen of Kilkis Seres. Stardustblade358 806 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) - Helios - Side: Mystras Rebellion - w/ Henry & Aura- Helios listened to Henry, frowning. "I worry, Henry, that what will come now will be worse than just war." Helios admitted. But he agreed with Henry. Raiden did not seem to be the type to do this kind of trick. There were just rumors, as well. The only ones that knew the truth were Queen Shiva and Raiden, and one of them was dead. Helios perked his head up as he heard Aura approach them. "Aura. Good morning. At least, of what remains good." Helios said. "The rumors are varying but...it is confirmed that the queen is dead. Until Raiden shows up and says something, all we have is just that, rumors." Helios said, keeping his tone low. His hands fidgeted around the necklace of his friend, pursing his lips in thought. Only Raiden had answers, and who knows what would Kilkis Seres would do next after this turn of events. - Arthur - Side: Mystras Rebellion - w/ Draksis - Arthur nodded at Draksis, feeling he had heard a similar tone from Henry. To follow ones path. "Well...I have decided that my path belongs in helping save our world from death. Maybe we can accomplish change. Maybe we will die along the way. But history can never say that we didn't try. There is so much time humanity has left to expand and grow. I don't want to leave this world without at least trying to make it right, you know?" Arthur smiled, chuckling. "You kind of remind me of dad-!" He began, but quickly stopped himself, instead clearing his throat as he looked around once more. "Well, not fully. But I still look up to you, sir. I'm honored to study and learn under you." - Arthur & Alex FLASHBACK - Sneak Mission - Arthur walked back and forth, looking at the tittles of the books until he could find something of relative interest. He thought of Alex's comment, remembering what his own father had said just earlier. Some of them never even left. So maybe someone, or something did curse Visco. "After everything we've seen. I wouldn't put it past it being a possibility." Arthur admitted. From stepping on this world onward, calling such afflictions as curses caused by angry witches didn't sound so far off. He paused when he saw a book; History of Magic Vol.7: Forgotten Curses. He climbed up the rolling ladder, reaching up to the book and pulling it down. "I found something. I think." Arthur said, gently setting the book down on the table, before flipping it open. It contained descriptions, images and history of different curses apparently forgotten by history. Turning people into furniture, turning someone into a frog until someone else kisses them, curses that attaches items permanently to the user; you know, the weird kind of curses. "These people had way too much time on their hands." Arthur whispered, flipping through the pages until he could find something of interest. He almost flipped past it, but stopped just in time as something caught his attention. It contained the illustration of a Fey with the same illustration next to it, but with added animal features. "I think I might've found something?" Arthur quickly read over the page. "The Half-Breed Curse. Very rare occurrence where an Animorphism spell is either not strong enough to fully transform the host or interrupted half way through its conjuring. Unlike natural born Half-Breeds, whose bodies naturally are born able to balance the genetic differences of both parents, those affected by this curse can be victims of unpredictable and uncontrollable side effects on the account of the unexpected genetic mutation that was stopped half way within the spell. Depending on the animal, some of the effects include advanced aging, change in instincts and appearance, among many other things that may be unique to the animal in question. The cure of this curse usually relies on its user, who may either revert the spell or finish its process. Though with skilled enough magic users, one could figure out a way to undo it themselves without the original spell user." Arthur read, feeling his hands shaking as he did. "Please tell me you have more information. Anything?" Edited January 11, 2018 by Stardustblade358
Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) - Soren Monroe, the Penitent Traitor - FLASHBACK, Lake Kresnik - Soren's vigil from the shadows was brief, yet to him, it could not have felt more like an eternity, as the unthinkable happened: After taunting sight unseen, his words dripping with malevolence and a sadistic glee, a white-clad figure with skin pale as sin emerged from hiding after Raiden and Shiva began to reach an accord with a Feyslayer in hand, brutalizing Queen Shiva before Raiden and Soren's very eyes, a single stab not sufficing for the mysterious killer. The man who had just committed regicide then watched as Shiva crumpled to the ground, igniting rage within the man now known as Odin, Shiva's former lover, who destroyed the killers dagger and put on quite the display of lightning...but none of this mattered to Soren, the demon being completely frozen for what felt like hours, when really it was a few seconds at most. His chest was tight, his breathing rapid as a mixture of emotions coursed through Soren Monroe...grief, shock, despair...rage. He just couldn't believe it, someone had actually done what he couldn't, they had the power to kill a monarch and now they were gloating about it...gloating over Shiva's convulsing body. The moment Soren snapped out of stupor, he was no longer thinking. Roaring with rage to the skies, he immediately transformed into his Demonic Form, the pillar of Hellfire ensuring burned through his Shadowy Camouflage, bursting from it was Soren himself, flame-imbued claymore at his side as she charged for and slashed at the one who did the deed. - Nergal - Soren's rage alerted him to his presence before he could respond to Lord Raiden, aside from dodging his prior attack, which forced him to take the slash to his abdomen, but he would counter Soren's next attack and push him back. "You are too late, Sentinel! Your precious queen lays dying as we fight and there is naught either of you can do about it!" Nergal proclaimed with a mostly calm, if loud voice, but there was a hint of a sadistic happiness belying his words, but this only angered Soren further, who was blind with rage as he roared again, attacking Nergal with 3 diagonal, heavy slashes, seeking to cause as much damage as possible, but each attack was blocked by Nergal summoning his Holy Glaive, using both blades intermittently to block the attacks and all that followed. Then, rather casually, Nergal backstepped Soren's last attack and lowered his weapon. "Don't be sad. It doesn't end here! Queen Shiva's demise is the beginning of something greater, though what that is exactly I cannot say. Know that I will make the both of you suffer so much more before this is done...oh yes...we will meet again. Enjoy your final moments with Shiva, Soren, Odin! Careful not to slip on her blood on your way out!!" As he concluded, Nergal seemed to become manic, gesturing and even shaking a little as he grinned with an unnatural delight, before utilizing his inhumanly increased speeds to sprint off, laughing devilishly, borderline giggling as he departed the scene, Soren futilely attempted to follow him, but realizing his greater speed quickly, breathing heavily in defeat before simply screaming in Nergal's direction as he dropped his Claymore. ...his rage did not quiet as after he took a moment of misery to himself, his head snapped to Raiden's direction as he marched toward him, taking hold of him by his chest clothing and shouting. "This is your fault!! If it weren't for this war, Shiva would still be alive!!" Soren bellowed, the flames within him burning as he became increasingly irrational simply out of despair. - Meksis, the Chaperone, Armour of Light - FLASHBACK, Kilkis Campgrounds with Maxis - Meksis's concern for Maxis only elevated into a reserved horror as his friend revealed just how much of this strange fluid was leaking from his body. This, madness fluid was a liquid corruption flowing through Maxis and it only told Meksis bad things. That was before Maxis even suggested a Mind Melding to learn more about this affliction. Everything Maxis then said about a presence in the back of his mind felt familiar to his own ailment...yet he couldn't help but feel Maxis's problem was far, far worse for everyone involved. What disturbed Meksis further was the simple fact that Maxis was actually scared. Literally nothing scares him, not for real at least, so this revelation only added to the mounting problem. "Maxis..." Meksis uttered softly, his best attempts to stay cool were faltering to say the least, but he had to stay strong for his brother in armour, otherwise they would both fall. "I'll do it. Whatever this...corruption is, I will find a way to cleanse it from you, old friend...keep still." Meksis took hold of Maxis's extended hand as an affirmation when he spoke, then, he placed his free hand upon the side of Maxis's head and began to concentrate. Light energy immediately flowed from Meksis to Maxis as he uttered an incantation to begin the mind melding process. "Nan iChir Gelair..." Meksis and Maxis's minds began to become one as he prepared to enter his mindscape fully with the remaining required words. "Open your mind to me, Maxis. Let me touch the fabric of your being, to explore the woes that plague your body and very spirit. Feel this universe around you, as our minds merge, as your mental barriers relax... Accept my aid, Embrace Eternity!" (I'll have present day posts later.) Edited January 11, 2018 by Nero Kunivas
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted January 11, 2018 {Mariel: Mystras Camp} Mariel was sourly considering how she would get a horse. Even in the years she spent in the World Below, she hadn't really learned how to deal with the beasts. She could ride, but doing so felt so unwieldy and she always seemed to get the crafty one. Sifrei's arrival was a welcome distraction from the equestrian problem she was having. "Good morning, Ophaniel." The Red haired angel greeted. The Archangel cut straight to the situation and managed to put together Mariel's plan pretty succinctly. "I have and know the rumors that Raiden killed Shiva to be false." She answered. "However, I doubt the Queen's followers will have such faith in him. They will want vengeance. Which could be exactly what the true assassin had in mind. If we don't prove Raiden's innocence, then our chance for peace dies with Shiva. And the sands of time are already pouring towards that future." Mariel paused a moment. While she did believe time was of the essence, getting Raiden's testimony of events could hold important details. And if she was being honest with herself, she wasn't up to full fighting form yet. "Finding Raiden and hearing his plan is sensible." She admitted, looking less fierce as she had a moment ago. "But finding who's behind this is the best way I know how to stop this turning ugly." She glanced at her still mending wing. "I won't say no to help." Mariel finished, sounding a little reluctant.
Elrandir 783 Posted January 11, 2018 - Aura - Mystras Campsite - With Henry and Helios -"I know that we wanted to win this battle, but not like this. I tried to convince myself that the Queen would see reason, and I suppose that in the end she did, if it is indeed true that Raiden did not betrayed her," Aura said while looking at Helios, "now we can only try and do our best to deal with this situation. I just hope that we find the true reason of what transpired last night."So the rumors were true to some extent, the Queen was indeed dead, but without Raiden giving any sort of explanation as of that moment it was somewhat unnerving."I have to admit that this has been quite the adventure. If someone told me I was going to be part of a battle that would change the fate of two worlds I would tell them they were crazy," Aura then looked away for a moment, "I am sure my brother would have said the same. So, let's stick together until the end of this."- Sifrei - Mystras Campsite - With Mariel -"I am quite sure that most of the Queen's subjects will wish for retribution, even if Lord Raiden is not guilty of such accusation," Sifrei replied, his face looed serious for a moment, "but it is as you say. This mystery must be solved before things escalate further."The Archangel moved closer to Mariel and slowly reached his hand out towards the Guardian Angel's wing. A faint white aura appeared in Sifrei's hand while he whispered in ancient enochian, the language used by celestial beings. Sifrei remained like that for a few minutes, he was going to heal most of the damage of Mariel's wing but she still had to rest for a few more hours."I think that will be enough for now. I understand what you are saying Mariel, and I will help you. You just need to rest young wing for a little while longer before it's fully functional again, " he said as he finished his healing spell, "So, instead of me carrying you all the way I will ask one of the soldiers to lend me one of their pegasi, a griffon, or any flying mount I can get. Please, wait here for a moment."Sifrei turned around and went back into the campsite. He had seen a few soldiers who used flying mounts, a few of them even had griffons. After finding and talking with an elf lady she agreed to let Sifrei borrow her mount for a while, apparently this woman was from somewhere in the north, she knew that he was one of the judges and didn't thought twice to accept the Archangel's request. Sifrei made his way back to the Guardian Angel on top of a moderate sized griffon, a griffon strong enough to carry both of them."Sorry I took so long, Mariel. Most of the soldiers were tending to the ailments of their own mounts," Sifrei said with an apologetic smile, "but I manage to convince an elf soldier to lend me her mount for a little while. So, hop on and we will make our way towards Lake Kresnik."The Archangel offered Mariel his hand to help her hop on into the mighty griffon. Said griffon looked rather calm and docile, and Sifrei looked like he was used to such beasts.
Endless Thundaga 533 Posted January 12, 2018 Jynn-Abode Typhon too lashes out at Jynn for running from his duty. The prince was unsure how to react to him, but he simply walks past him. "I need some time alone. I'm sorry Typhon. I just don't know what to think right now....." He walks out of his office and out the entrance. It was still chilly outside, and snow still covered the mountain range. It was quiet as well. But the sudden sound of flapping wings catches Jynn's attention. It was Shiva's snowy owl. It landed on his shoulder, and greets the prince with a soft hoot. Jynn strokes the bird's head, while retrieving the letter from its carrier sack. He gently opens the letter and immediately recognizes the handwriting. "Mother's alive?!" He begins to read. Dear Jynn, My fate hangs within the balance, and I cannot be certain that I will see you again. I have sought to negotiate for peace with Lord Raiden personally and, while I do not believe that he will harm me, I have this ill-boding feeling that I will not return. I want to apologize to you. For not being the mother that you needed me to be, and not being as forthcoming with you as you deserved. The truth is that The Overworld holds terrible and dark secrets, ones that I do not wish anyone the need to bear. Your grandfather, the late King Alexander, left much of this with me after his passing, and I was overburdened. After you were born I sought to protect you from the world that I had been thrust in unwillingly, because I wanted for you what I always desired for myself: freedom to live your own life and do as you please. I should've realized that you and I are different; perhaps there are some people who are just able to shoulder more and want to know the truth regardless of how much it hurts. For me, I would've preferred to have been cocooned in lies until the day I died. You now know that the worlds have been separated. For better or worse, I cannot rightfully say. I have been entrusted with the very heart of the barrier within my living being, and thus have little choice but to leave it. It is shameful to have to watch anyone suffer, but life is filled with sacrifice. If you do not know this yet, I am certain you will when you are king. It is impossible to preserve all, or to make everyone happy. Should I meet you again, I hope that you will find it in your heart to give me another chance. I would like to bring you into every council and teach you everything there is to know about our kingdom and the history of our worlds. If not, there is one piece of knowledge that I have been withholding from you, something that you have requested of me and I haven't been able to bring myself to share. If I do not tell you, you may never know, and that is something that I think would be unacceptable. Your father, Jynn, is still very much alive, and you remind me so greatly of him sometimes that it truly brings a smile to my face. While I do not always agree with his politics, nor very much know the man that I once loved, he is truly good within, and I am certain that, if something happens to me and you reach out to him, that he would undoubtedly do everything in his power to be there for you. This man is an eidolon named Odin. You bear the same kind of magic: lightning. After some complications between us and my late father, Odin vanished, resurfacing as Lord Raiden of the Mystran city-state. This news may be difficult to bear, but please stay strong. There is no shame in who your father is, and the people of Kilkis Seres would still love you, regardless of whether they knew or not. I leave with you my love, my dear son. Our time together seems so short-lived, even though we have shared two millennia together. What I would do to just see your smile one more time, or wrap my arms around you and kiss your hair. And even if we do not meet once more in the flesh, I am sure that we will indeed see one another again. Very truly yours, Mother (Written by Mystics) Jynn collapses onto his knees, shocked by what he just read. Raiden was his father all along. For all these centuries, Jynn has been unknowingly been making communication with his father. His eyes drift away from the letter, and towards the area where the war has occurred. "All that time yesterday........ I was attacking the one person that I wish I knew........." Seeing Jynn's sorrow, Melstrome opens his stall door and heads over to his master with his head low. His leg was being treated with magic wraps. He begins to lay down behind Jynn, and places his head over the torn prince's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. Vaude 536 Posted January 12, 2018 Lord Raiden, Mystras, at his villa, last night Even if Raiden could sleep, he would not have received a wink of rest after the events that transpired. No solace could relieve the pain of a recently lost loved one, a sensation he felt time and again. Once the morning came, everybody would feel the same way, in one way or another. The queen was well respected and well loved by enemy and friend alike, and yet someone had the gall to kill her, an assassin, he assumed, with ashen pulp drudging through his deadened heart. He shoved a hand towards a wall as he crawled through the dimly lit hallway, momentarily off balance, as his mind was elsewhere. His thoughts could not escape Shiva's demise, and he tried to discern who this someone was that was to blame for the hideous act of regicide. Midnea was too obvious, and, no offense to her entourage, but they were not the brightest of souls. This assassin was more theatrical, more individual, and more impossible than anyone else he had come across, besides the living armours and, perhaps, himself. "You look like crap," resounded a voice in the dark, sneering and insidious. "I can only agree," voiced another that Raiden easily recognised, that being of the Infiltrator. As the latter speaker approached with his mask untethered to his face, Nihil also came, the shadowy creature grinning from behind the man's head with a firm grip on either of the Infiltrator's shoulders. It seemed as if the two were getting along. "Change is aloft in the air, and I cannot help but assume you assisted in that. Shiva is no more, is she?" "She . . . no, she is not," Raiden admitted defeatedly, raising a hand to his face as the tears threatened to spring forth again. "Had you finally realised your foolishness in clinging to false hope? Come now, there should be no secrets between us," continued the Infiltrator, feeling a sense of satisfaction in his being right. "NO!" boomed Raiden, slamming a clenched fist onto the wall and breathing raggedly. "I cannot acknowledge such a thing. My hope was genuine and true, but crushed at the last second by a force I did not fully see." "Your eye is not omniscient. We both know this, my brother. Drinking from the font of wisdom has left us full of knowledge and strength, but this makes it that much harder to fight fate. I accepted this long ago, whereas you clung to your obstinacy like a mule. When will you give it up? When the whole world shatters upon you like glass? Let Shiva's inevitable death be the turning point. Don't let everything fail because of you." "How can you judge me like that?" Raiden bemoaned, glaring through his hand towards his double. "You loved her too, once, Teshub!" "That seemed like a lifetime ago to me, for more than one reason," Teshub concurred, not even batting an eyelash. "You never stopped loving her. That was the fundamental difference between you and me, out of everything. It is high time you stop so we can be reunited. That is the only way we can be whole again, to become Odin again." "You mean to use Shiva's death as a mere stepping stone? You parasite! You wretched louse!" exploded Raiden, a snap of electricity rocketing in several directions and scarring the once beautiful surface of his home with an ugly black streak of charcoal. "I cannot condone such an atrocity. Even if she is no longer amongst the living, I will never give up, never lose my way. I will create peace alongside her, even if it means our not being whole again." The Infiltrator took a step back as if struck, and ire flushed his face. "You wound me with your diatribe, brother," the doppelganger scoffed. "We were once alike in every way but one. How are we so different now, so that I want to reunite and you do not? Nevertheless, I will be around, waiting for your correct answer. Call upon me when you find it. Until then, I am through with discussion with a brooding fool." Teshub turned and left, heading toward the front door and ensnaring the lamppost nearby while he was at it. Nihil rode him all the while, the whitest of smiles beaming out toward Raiden as he watched the two leave. "So very interesting!" the umbral creature cooed in joviality before the door slammed, and Raiden was without company once more. Lord Raiden, Mystras, at the Mystran encampment Raiden slipped into his encampment that morning as silently as he was able, but that was not enough to deter the chatter of observers as they eyed him with a combination of marvel, suspicion, and hate. Feigning indifference, he gripped tighter his Dartmouth green robes and mithril brooch and trudged on, hoping to find someone he can confide in before giving his speech. The healer's tent was perhaps the best spot for him to seek one, having seen an abundance of them last night, and so that was where he headed first. With luck, though, someone would be able to find him first, and he pulled off his sable hood to better get a glance about him. The crowd got vocal, and the rumours were reiterated to each other once more. Soon the news of his coming might spread like wildfire. "So it's true, then? Lord Raiden really killed the queen?" "Shush, young man, it is too early to say. What if it was not so? You might rot in prison for a time for saying such things!" "But what if it is so, or what if it was an assassin? These are dark times ahead of us, mark my words. Mark my words!" "Regardless," stated a familiar druid, raising a hand toward the others in his vicinity, "it is time to stop wagging our tongues and assist our leader. Good or bad, change has come, and it is irreversible. What happens later not only falls on him, but on us." Nobody paid much attention to Reginald in the crowd and moved on to their neighbors. He clucked his tongue. More often than not, he wished he stood out more in a crowd. ((Others I will make a post for soon enough. Don't worry, Kuni and Mystics; I will get a post out for the flashback shortly.)) 1 Mystics Apprentice reacted to this
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted January 12, 2018 {Mariel: Mystras Camp} Mariel was at first confused at Sifrei raising his hand to her injured wing. When she caught the words he was speaking, she stood quietly as some lingering pain and ache in her wing slowing melted away. When he was done, it merely felt like she had been on it for most of the day. "Thank you." She said, bowing slightly to the Archangel. She colored a little, but she kept better control of herself than before. What ever she felt, it had to wait. As Sifrei went in search for a spying steed, Mariel couldn't help but worry that he might be sacrificing his duty to help her. She wasn't exactly sure what a Judge from the North should do in this situation, so maybe this was a happy alignment of goals. To keep herself busy, the Guardian Angel rechecked the provisions she packed. They would go faster with two people, but if they were going by air, that might not matter. After she rechecked her previsions a second time, Sifrei returned atop a griffon. Mariel was impressed that he managed to obtain such a prized beast. "Considering you are doing me a huge favor, I don't think I quite have the right to impatience." She joked, smiling back at the Archangel. Grabbing the sack she had packed, Mariel took Sifrei's offered hand, but jerked her head to the side as if searching for something. A familiar presence had returned. "Odin." The Guardian murmured, before looking back to Sifrei. "Lord Raiden is back. We should speak with him before we go." Without another word, Mariel jogged further into the camp, dropping her sack near the Griffon. After a short search, She found her former charge, apparently heading for the Healer tents. The red haired angel moved into Raiden's path, her hand raise to stop him. For an instant, she looked him over as a fretful mother might a wayward child, looking for injury. To her relief, he looked fine. "Odin, are you alright?" Mariel asked, her voice a mix of concern and the calming voice of a professional. "What happened?" Elrandir 783 Posted January 12, 2018 (edited) - Sifrei - Mystras Campsite - Sifrei watched Mariel going back into the camp, he unmounted the griffon and looked at her. "Alright, we will return momentarily, understood?" Sifrei said and waited, the griffon nodded in understandment, "Good girl. Don't do anything reckless and don't wander off." Just as he turned around to return to the camp Sifrei took a few steps back in surprise. "Rather interesting creature you have there, Sifrei. I didn't knew you possessed a griffon of your own," Said Rabiyu who somehow had arrived without him noticing, "but that is not important. Lord Raiden as returned and is now currently in that tent over there. I suggest we make our way there and see if he needs any help." The Elf turned around without saying another word and walked back to the camp, Sifrei stared at her back for a couple of seconds before following. "That was surprising. I didn't even sensed anything when she arrived, and I am sure she was not there before Mariel went back." The Archangel thought to himself. Both judges went inside the tent and immediately noticed the whispers of everyone around, some surprised, others confused or angry at the Lord of Mystras, Rabiyu even noticed a very familiar voice among the crowd, and just as she passed by a group of feys she saw the face of the Druid who she fought, Reginald was his name, but she had no time to reminisce about a previous battle, or wonder why a member of the opposite army was there to begin with, not now. She walked towards Raiden, who in turn was already being approached by Sifrei's celestial friend, Mariel. "I am relieved to see that you had a safe return, My Lord," Rabiyu said as she stopped behind Mariel, and Sifrei stopped next to her, "As Lady Mariel asked, I hope you can provide information about the events that transpired last night. I assure you, you do not have to be alone when you address your subjects and the humans in a moment. We will remain by your side in case you need anything." Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted January 14, 2018 --Everyth Castanova -- Mystran Camp-- The raven-haired woman trudged back toward the campsite, boots in one hand and cloak in the other, her feet still wet and her trousers rolled up to her knees. The moment she left the peacefulness of the stream she was greeted with the murmurs of fey and men, discussing the atrocities of the night prior. Even though it was quite the big deal to lose a monarch, she couldn't help but feel that the situation was getting out of hand very fast. Some threatened to march out of the camp right then and there, whereas others threatened to tie Raiden down. Some suggested that it served the queen right; it was becoming too much for her to follow. As she reached camp she saw Aura, the young human woman that had been trained alongside her brother by Rabiyu. Her heart fell as her violet eyes fell upon her, recalling the loss of her brother only the day prior. She seemed to be taking it incredibly well, but Everyth couldn't imagine the toll that it must've been taking on her young heart. Everyth stopped by the trio and dropped her boots, as if in announcement of her arrival. "My my, these are some of the longest faces that I have ever once seen." She placed a hand on her hip and moved closer. "Let me guess: you have heard about the queen?" --King Alderon -- Flashback: The king flashed Henry a smile, almost challenging in nature. So it would seem that the augmented human had no interest in allying him after all, but instead was only out for his own interests and greater good. He supposed it made sense. After all, he couldn't imagine in even his wildest dreams that Henry would ever choose to side with him. "So it seems that you are only looking out for yourself. Fair enough. I thought perhaps you were instead a mercenary, but I didn't think you could be bought, not even for the right price in gold." He managed to prop himself up slightly, so that he could gaze at Henry at a more equal level. "I do wonder, however, how far Lord Raiden can trust you. You haven't pledged allegiance to either party, and therefore you may leave or betray us at any point in time. That is not my place to say, however. Raiden will choose whatever he deems fit." Truth be told, Alderon did not trust Henry. He seemed too unpredictable and far too capable. Pain laced up Alderon's shoulder once more, causing him to grimace and turn ghastly pale. He shrunk back in his sheets, taking in frequent shallow breaths. "Is there a particular reason that you came, Henry? Was it just to say hello to an old friend?" "It looks like you have something weighing on your mind, boy," said a deep voice from behind Alex. If Alex turned around he would see King Alderon there, wrapped in bandages and pale, but present and standing nonetheless. "Worried about friends or family back at home, are you?" he further inquired, folding his arms across his chest. "I do not speak to many of the matter, but you would not be alone. My ever waking thought is of my dear daughter, Visco. I have entrusted her to an entire kingdom, a weight far heavier than she should have to bear. I have no news of how things are going down there, and her life was already endangered once, from what you and Miss Castanova shared with me. There is no shame in thinking of those you have left behind, but sometimes you have to speak about it or it will affect you greatly. That is something you wouldn't want, especially on the battlefield." (I'll post a short skit for Shiva after Raiden, and I'll try to prep a post for Yevgeni and the Kilkis Seres meeting shortly.) Vaude 536 Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) Lord Raiden, Mystras, flashback Before Raiden could leap into the fray once more, Soren interluded and assaulted Nergal, entirely getting in the way of his prepared luminal assault upon the enemy. Snarling in frustration at the two, he instead decided to focus on Shiva while the assassin was distracted, deactivating his lightning and rushing to her side once more. The wounds issued to her were very much grave. So much blood was being lost, and he feared that there was not much time left for her. Even still, he clung to hope, and shredded up his scarf to act as tourniquets where the blood was flowing the greatest. "Shiva, I'm here. Stay with me! Stay with me!" he voiced hastily while wrapping the compressive bandages around her. "You need to live, if not for me then for the populace that loves and adores you! Just stay quiet and still, and we'll get you to a healer after Soren and I deal with this raving fool." Unfortunately, Nergal was at the end of his tirade and sprinted off into the night, faster than fast. Soren, and Raiden while he crossed over to Soren's side, was left in the dust. The fiend had escaped, and neither could do much about it. And then came a grab to his chest by a grieving Soren, the man accusing Raiden that the entire situation was his fault. Raiden was hardly in the mood and forcefully cast the demonic person's arm free from his breastplate. "MY FAULT?!" he roared back. "Get a grip on reality! Shiva still lives, but we haven't time to argue. We have to get her to a healer!" Lord Raiden, Mystras, at the campsite Raiden was deep in thought of past events before he was blocked. The lord of Mystras paused and blinked, surprised to find that Mariel found him as quickly as she did, yet pleased. She looked over him dotingly, at which he inwardly smiled. She always felt like a second mother to him, and he her adoptive child, regardless of age. "I'm all right. Just . . . superiorly shaken," he confessed. A tear or two wormed their way through his eyelids but did not find the weight to fall. Raiden wiped them away with a sleeve and centered his thoughts. With a crows gathering, he felt he should not cry. He had to keep his calm and collection in front of his subjects, at least until he could be alone with his allies. "I would welcome all of your company, of course, especially while I deliver the news to everyone," he replied, smiling up at the two judges and Mariel before the expression fell from his face. "My report is . . . grim, I fear, and it seems mottled rumours have propagated themselves revolving about the events. I would have them rest by saying this here and now that I did not kill the queen, though she is indeed dead." He turned to the many and observed their curiosity. He had to make a speech soon, elsewise issues might arise. "Mariel, Hisie, Sifrei -- I would like you to gather every able-bodied individual possible to the clearing near the healer's tents, especially Alastor. I would like to have him present as well for my upcoming speech." Edited January 14, 2018 by Vaude
Saber Lily 1,543 Posted January 14, 2018 -Flashback: Eclaire, moment of Shiva's Death- What came as whispers and rumors, was preceded by a scream. She had not found Shiva in the castle...she had forced the maid to help her, even into town. But she was weak...she was tired...and she had ultimately passed out, crumpling down at the castle gates, having overexerted herself. But that quietness, that stillness that surrounded her in bed, was shattered like a mirror struck with an enraged fist. She woke up screaming, clutching her chest, feeling as if she was on fire. Guards rushed in to find her screaming and screaming. A maid attempted to calm her down, but she snapped. With a primal roar she effortlessly tossed the poor woman aside, her telekinesis exploding out and causing chaos. Her screams didn't continue as she called for Shiva, she shook and shivered, the burning and fear covering her. It took ten guards and four mages to restrain and cast a sleeping spell. They managed to get her into a temporary room and into a bed...but as a healer knelt to check her, she only found tears from her closed eyes. It was the first sign for Eclaire...and if anyone truly knew...the first real sign of the rumors. Once the body had been found, once the rumors started, Xion rushed to Eclaire's temporary abode, finding her sitting up in bed, eyes wide and red. She looked up at her mother, pallid, breath ragged, face contorted into pure sorrow. "Shiva's dead." She whispered. "She's dead." Xion Izanami, Regent of Mare Luxuria, could only look at her daughter as Eclaire broke down. Xion slowly knelt and rested a hand on Eclaire's leg, unable to comfort her precious daughter. -Eclaire, Kilkis Seres: Shiva's Chambers- She had been there for the past day. Leaving the infirmary, she had broke the door and crawled into Shiva's bed. Her scent...anything. Anything. She knew...her heart...had told her, so dearly, to take that leap...to not hide. But what strength she had gained, felt gone. What confidence Shiva had bestowed, felt hollow. Her heart, filled with love and hope from the one woman...no...the one person who believed in her... Who...who was left to believe in her? The Order was kind but only believed in redemption. Her mother had burned their trust, and had little time to attempt to fix it. Even if there was still love, Xion still had hurt Eclaire dearly with her lack of backing. And now...as Eclaire sat in Shiva's bed, hugging that pillow, not caring who or what inevitably would come to shout at her...she cried. "Who will believe in me...?" She whispered. "Who will believe...in a mistake?" -The Order: City of Hunter- The mood was low. Half their members were gone - one dead, the other attending her funeral. For Ask'raziel, Jeremy, and Shar'aia, they sat with Xion, Takao, and Rhaedyn Thane. The death of Shiva was a blow to Kilkis Seres...and for two of their members, a blow to someone dear. Jeremy for once did not act carefree. He sat up, looking grim. "The kingdom is in mourning. Jynn has yet to take the throne officially." he stood. "I'm going to find him." "He needs time." Raz said. "L-" "No." Jeremy stuck his hands in his pockets and headed for the door. "Mystras might capitalize. To lose the kingdom because one is to busy mourning the Queen? What a pathetic end." He left, leaving the others to sit quietly. "This was dishonorable." Thane growled. "It is a ruler's duty to die well. To be murdered as such dishonors the Queen Shiva was. And I shall not let her memory be squandered by having her murderer live." He stood, taking up his mighty weapons. "Defend the Kingdom, Prince of Archangels." He looked at Raz. "I fear the era of peace will never be found once again...Prince. Artoriana, my lieutenant is at your disposal. The Iron Wolves will bolster your forces." He marched out, and headed for the tavern of Kilkis Seres. The best place to find a tracker...was where the alcohol was. "Mikhail...let us see if you are here." 1 Nero Kunivas reacted to this
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted January 14, 2018 --Queen Shiva -- Flashback Seeing the rage between Soren and Raiden was not what the queen wished to envision upon her dying moments. Her fingers dug in the soil between blades of grass, desperate to get their attention, but to no avail. They were too fixated on throwing the blame upon each other to notice her desperate silent pleas. "Stop," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Just stop. It was . . . destined. Do not blame . . . each other--" She couldn't get more out. Her eyes fluttered closed as she fought for breath. Her body was growing cold and numb, along with her mind. Shiva felt herself slipping away, and there was nothing she could do about it. "I wish there was more time." Shiva extended a hand to place on Raiden's face. Her hands, while naturally cold, were like ice as they met his skin. "So much . . . I wanted to say and do, but now . . . ." Her gaze shifted toward Soren, expression blank. It surprised her that he would be here, but was unable to express her emotion. "You came," was all she managed. "Why?" Meanwhile . . . . In the darkness of Shiva's room, where the succubus clutched her pillow and sobbed, the curtains fluttered as though ruffled by the wind. None of the windows were open, so this was not a very plausible explanation. If Eclaire's sinuses were cleared, she would recognize the scent of Shiva's perfume that she always wore: light, flowery, and elegant. "Do not cry, child." At the foot of the bed stood, indeed, the queen, dressed in a sleeveless gown of aqua-blue, complimenting her hair that fell in waves down her back. A soft smile played on her pale lips as a curious glow enveloped her. She was semi-transparent, and eventually Eclaire would probably realize that the woman was not fully present. Shiva touched nothing, perhaps because she couldn't. "You may recall that a small piece of me lives within you," Shiva explained, taking a step closer. "That very piece is what made me able to cross barriers between realms and come visit you, and I am very much glad that it did. Thank you, Eclaire. How I wanted to see you again." She clasped her hands together. "My time, however, is brief. As more time surges past from my death I feel myself slipping away from this world entirely." "Before I leave, I must ask you one question: do you still, after all of this time, believe that you are a mistake?" --Yevgeni Malachite -- The Meeting The remaining band of troops gathered together along the Kilkis Seres campgrounds. The men and women were shoulder to shoulder, many holding their helmets in front of them in mourning. Not a face looked cheerful in the gathering, nor should they. They lost their queen, but more than that, potentially the war. What would happen to them next, their homes, their families? They were plagued with sorrow, but most prominently, fear. What happened next was unknown to them, but one thing was for certain: things were about to change. The blond elf stood atop a pedestal--which in reality was a wooden crate--before the gathering, trading out his traditionally colored garb with a suit of solid black. Before he even spoke it conveyed the message that the rumors were true: Shiva was indeed gone. "Greetings, my friends. How I wish I could meet with you under different circumstances, but alas I must bring you grave news. Last night, Queen Shiva met with Lord Raiden of Mystras for a peace treaty. This morning, her body was delivered to us by the same man, only it was not as alive as it was when it departed to meet with him. That is correct: Queen Shiva is no more, which has left our hearts empty with a weight that no amount of time will ever be able to fully heal. Yev remained silent for a moment, allowing this news to sink in, before continuing. "Her departure was abrupt, and at a massively inopportune moment. We are currently at war between the two worlds, something that has not occurred in over two millennia, and now we are left powerless and without a ruler. Further, Prince Jynn, heir to the Kilkis Seres throne, is nowhere to be found. He was gravely wounded during yesterday's battle, and it is uncertain whether he will even live to see Kilkis Seres through. As such, it has been decreed that I will serve our nation as regent until Prince Jynn is able to accept appointment as king--if he attains such a state. "I assure you that I will not allow us to suffer. I will not let us be crippled and cast aside. We will avenge our fallen queen, and Kilkis Seres will not be reduced to ash. There is something that I feel you all should know, and that is there was a reason Her Majesty fell to the hands of our enemy this morning. Her death meant the release of an age-old barrier, a barrier which severed our world from that of the human world below. With her gone our worlds are now connected once more, and, as such, a magical strain has occurred. Has anyone noticed the stillness in the air, the disappearance of living beings besides ourselves? Our magic is being depleted to nourish the dying world below. As a result, tragically, we may lose our very own world." Murmurs escaped through the crowd, some escalating to shouts of protest. One woman began to cry, while others swore to themselves. Yevgeni raised a hand to silence them. "I promise on my very life that I will not allow this loss to happen. Our world will not perish, nor will the humans get their way. We will find a way to sever our worlds for good, and I have a good idea of where we will begin. First, I have initiated contact with our friends in the North. They will want to know of this new threat that faces our world, and I am fairly confident that they will stand alongside us. Second, we will plan to find and capture a druid by the name of Reginald Heathertoes. As some may recall, he guised himself as a healer and served under our banner, but in reality he is playing both sides, wherever he can profit the most. He aided King Alexander in placing this first barrier, and I have no doubts that he can aid us in our time of need. "I will not further initiate combat with Mystras. They have stepped out of line in taking our queen, and they expect us to fight back so that they can take us out even further and seize the throne. We will not play into their hands. It is time for us to fall back to Kilkis Seres and map out our next course of action. Goodness knows enough blood has been spilt." With that the elf bowed. "Thank you." 1 Nero Kunivas reacted to this
Elrandir 783 Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) - Rabiyu and Sifrei - Healer's tent with Raiden and Mariel -Rabiyu listened to Raiden and was slightly relieved that he confirmed that he didn't assassinate Shiva, Sifrei was too, but he had faith in the elf's ability to witness possible futures so he believed that Raiden was indeed innocent from the very beginning. The Lord of Mystras requested that the three of them gathered every able-bodied individual to listen to his speech, both judges bowed slightly."It will be done, My Lord," replied Rabiyu.Without saying another word Sifrei and Rabiyu turned around and left the tent. On their way out Rabiyu once again noticed Reginald moving among the crowd, and a few seconds later she saw Aura, her two friends, and the human woman who sometimes watched their training, Everyth Castanova, if she remembered correctly. The Archangel noticed this and looked at her."Is something wrong?" he asked."Besides the fact that the amounts of arcane energy are getting lower and lower you mean?" Rabiyu answered without looking at Sifrei, " Yes. When we came inside there was an individual from the opposite army. I know because I fought against him. I find it strange that he is here, among enemies, when he should be back in Kilkis Seres.""Should we keep an eye on him then? If he has the potential to be a threat then we should-""There is no need for that. I am sure he wouldn't try anything with the amount of witnesses present."Once both judges were outside they took their respective separate paths. Sifrei quickly went back to the griffon to explain that they would take a little more time than planned before he began to gather everyone who was able to attend to the speech. Rabiyu also was asking those who looked to be in good condition to gather around the clearing near the healer's tents, but she also was looking for one individual in particular, that individual was Alastor. Last night he had come and go, like a bolt of lightning, one moment he was there and the other he was gone. Rabiyu had no idea were he was, but if she could find him she was going to give him Raiden's message to reunite with him for the speech.- Aura - Mystran Camp - With Henry, Helios and Everyth -A familiar voice snapped Aura from the pit of gloominess that threatened to engulf her heart once more, she needed her brother, but she also needed to remain strong, the distraction was a welcomed one. Aura was going to need a long time to think about what she was going to do once this was over, if she made it out alive that is,"I suppose that war has that effect on people, no matter if they are fey or human." Aura replied while turning to look at Everyth and giving her a smile, if Everyth paid enough attention she would notice that Aura's canines were a little longer than before. "And yes, we have heard about the queen. It was the first thing I heard once I woke up this morning, and at first I thought people were just joking around, but something feels different, like the world has stopped, or something around those lines."Aura noticed that Everyth looked slightly older, she supposed that the reason was the experiments she and Henry had to endure to possess their abilities, but she didn't wanted to pry. Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted January 14, 2018 - Soren Monroe, the Penitent Traitor - FLASHBACK, Lake Kresnik - Regret sullied Soren's expression along with his heart, as Raiden snapped back at him for his rage-filled accusation, with Shiva driving the blade through with her silent pleas for them not to bicker needlessly. Soren gave a shaken gasp and sigh as the Lord of Mystras retorted and lowered his head in shame, before looking to Shiva as she asked a simple question: Why had he come? Soren was shaken to the core as he only took a moment of silence prior to reverting to his regular form, as to be less of an eyesore, brushing an out of place lock of his raven hair, as well as a bead of sweat before looking upon Shiva solemnly...speaking softly, yet clearly enough to be heard. "I came for you..." Soren clutched his head in frustration as he let out a shaken breath born of grief, looking to Raiden as he lowered his hand. "Lord Raiden, forgive me...I could not think, couldn't focus. I just wanted that Assassin dead. I'm sorry. And I'm sorry too, my queen...i have, failed you." Soren admitted, shaking his head and overlooking Shiva's wounds. They were worse than he'd feared...too deep, wouldn't stop bleeding. "I had a hunch, a feeling of dread in my gut and I followed it...followed you. I was, worried. I wanted to keep you safe." He then gave an aside look, a forlorn expression upon him. "And I failed. Just as when I betrayed you. Now here I am, screaming at a grieving man, someone who just wanted peace." Soren relented just a little, something close to a shaken sob escaped his lips, before he looked at Raiden once more, then back to Shiva, as if he were waiting for something, anything to snap him out of his despair-guided trance. Scrapmaster 1,731 Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) - Maxis - The Mad Armor - At a significant distance from the Mystrian Campsite - "Embrace Eternity, you say?" Meksis would hear a voice, not that of Maxis. But of something else as he attempted to enter Maxis's mind. "Seems kinda like a bad deal...why don't you come in and clue me in?" The voice spoke, this time sounding more demonic, as Meksis would soon find his own mind being pulled inside as well. On a cruel twist of Fate, Meksis was not going to read Maxis's mind. He would go face to face with the entity inside Maxis instead. Meksis vision would blur and after a few moments he would find himself in a large lake. One which he would not sink into the water. It was seemingly endless, with the lake expanding as far as Meksis's vision could see. The water was crystal clear and he could see his own reflection on the water if he looked down, the entire place felt...off. "Welcome to the division between me and your friend." Meksis would hear the voice echoing throughout the surroundings, but with no vision as to what or who was speaking. He could only feel the spectral presence of a being, unseen. Unnatural. "Where you stand is the middle point of us, this entire place...built to supress me. Sealing me within these waters." The Voice spoke. "Why did you come? Do you seek salvation for your friend? Or something else?" The Voice spoke, as it spoke, throughout the phrase the Lake's appearance would begin to change, the entire area would begin to deteriorate in color, and turn blood red. The water became stained with the color as well. As the moon that stood above the lake changed color as well. Meksis would begin to feel a hand grabbing at his feet. It was...a replica of Maxis, who was attempting to pull him under. Meksis would also notice that more and more Maxis's replicas would begin emerging from the water, slowly. Like the dead coming out of their graves. Slumped over, and twitching uncontrolably as they moved, the familair liquid oozing out of them. "Oh, it seems they caught wind of you already...after all, they can sense a peculiar smell on you...Meksis." The voice spoke, taunting Meksis. "Your friend is mine. And you will not stop me." How the lake looks On the horizon, very far away, but still close enough where one could see the encampment on a vantage point. Stood Maxis. Looking over it. Spectral Madness energy trailing behind him. "I will find you. Raiden.". Maxis spoke as he vanished. - Henry - The Dreadnought - Mystrian meeting - Flashback Henry folded his arms as Alderon spoke, the smile of the man screaming at him, he really wanted to punch it, but he wouldn't do such a thing. "I've had my doubts about him as well." Henry spoke, "But in the end, After my run in with Shiva, he was my only real option if I wanted to see this conflict resolved." Henry explained, short and direct, why he sided with Raiden. "You wound me Alderon, I wouldn't betray anyone unless they betray me first. " Henry spoke, faking a sad expression and placing a hand on his chest to signalize that his feelings were hurt. before returning to his normal posture with a provoking smirk. Alderon soon asked why he came, the man seemingly in extreme pain and unable to prop himself up any longer. "I came to sate my own curiosity. After hearing that you came to this world. Seeking what I would guess was our world's salvation and the cure for your daughter." Henry spoke. as he turned around to leave. "Best we end this conversation here, as you are unwell. May we continue this another time." Said Henry as he left the tent. "Hey Aura" Henry spoke, with a warm smile as he saw Aura approach him and Helios. The girl quickly asked about the rumors, not a surprise, everyone was asking the same thing. "Pretty much." Henry spoke in accordance to Helios's explanation of the events to Aura. "It is only going to cause trouble for us, and more death." Henry spoke, his tone somber. And soon enough Everyth had arrived as well, Greeting the group with some enthusiasm, which was very welcome. Henry frowned as he noticed her older appearance, due to her powers's side effects. Which ate away at his heart just thinking about it. "Hey Everyth" Henry greeted her as well. Same way he greeted Aura. As he nodded at her question. "And now we wait for Raiden to show up and say something, anything about it. THe tension is eating away at everyone here." He commented. 'Do you feel that?' 'Yes, Raiden's aura. I can feel it.' 'Should we go check?' 'Hold on'. Arianna resurfaced within Henry's mind, and what she said was true, he could indeed Feel Raiden's aura within the camp. But he couldn't go to him right now. - Alastor - The Storm - Mystrian Camp, within his own tent - Rabiyu would feel a slight spark in the surroundings of the camp. It came from a plain looking tenth to the south east of the camp, which is where Alastor stood, meditating. Thinking about the events prior to the present and meditating in order to regain his mana reserves as well. He had asked the soldiers to build a tent for him, which they didn't dare refuse, after all. Alastor had ways to get what he wanted, none of the soldiers wanted to duel him so it was pretty straightforward in convincing them to build it. It looked like any of the tents around the camp, but more spacious, perfect for him to meditate in. Rabiyu would easily be able to trace the location and get inside the tent. - Alex - The Prodigy Knight - Flashback: Midnight Raid "Well, Feys are immortal to aging." Alex commented on the fey's abundance of free time in making curses and spells, each weider than the last. Soon enough Arthur found an interesting book about curses, which explained the half breed curses's effects and the like. How it was caused, how it could be reversed. And its horrifying applications. "That can't be a coincidence, Visco must suffer from this curse...at least in some way." Alex spoke. "But who could have possibly cast it on her? Especially in the world below?" Alex questioned. As he went over to the rolling ladder, climbed up on it and began searching again. After a few moments of anxiety and silence, he found an interesting book. with an illustration of...a fairy? but a different one from the folklore they used to tell in the world below. This one looked...evil...the book was titled. 'The Black Fairy: The History of Its Curses' "Check this book out.". Alex spoke as he stood beside Arthur and opened the book. Alex perked up instantly as Alderon spoke to him. He was very surprised his king was there, and even more surprised in the fact the man spoke to him. "King alderon!" Alex greeted Alderon with a bow, as much a bow as he could with his injury still not fully healed as well. The king's words spoke true to him. As Alex looked down. "Yes, I am thinking about home. Can't help but think about it, And I am right there with you on the lack of news, we can't even send letters. Albeit I understand why." Alex spoke, trying his best to be polite to his King. "I guess not even you came out unscathed from the battlefield..." Alex spoke, looking over Alderon's bandages and pale appearance. "I am sorry I couldn't be there to guard you." Alex apologized. - Draksis - The Black Knight - With Arthur - "And I am honored to have someone as dedicated as you under my wing." Draksis laughed heartily as Arthur spoke about how proud he was of learning under Draksis. Even calling the man dad at one point. Which pleased Draksis greatly. "And yes, Arthur, Either we will die or live through. But we will leave our mark on history. There is no greater Honor than that if you ask me." Draksis commented. Before bringing a hand to his Chin. "But you know...Living to see the results of your exploits is the greatest feeling in the world, considering said exploits turn out well." Draksis partially joked with a charismatic laugh as he placed a hand on Arthur's shoulder. "If we live through, maybe you and your sweetheart can get married." Draksis spoke, this time teasing Arthur about Visco. Which Draksis knew very well the two had a relationship forming, but he was not going to try to break it in any way, the opposite, in fact. He supported it. - Mikhail - The Old Witcher - Kilkis Seres Tavern - The Tavern's mood as down as well. The rumors of Queen Shiva's death had reached even the bars, not many people drinking or enjoying themselves and more just drinking to forget their troubles, or achieve momentary bliss in the drunken stupor. Not Mikhail, however. The Witcher stood at the counter, ordering drinks as he watched his surroundings. He could sense everyone, even the hair on their back growing, he could sense their anxiety, their heartbeats if he concentrated. He knew things were bad, but what could he do? He was a Witcher, and Witcher's tradition was to stay out of politics and wars. But soon enough, a hulking figure appeared over the tavern's entrance, and entered. it was someone he hadn't seen in some time. Rhaedyn Thane. The Witcher had no reaction to the man's entrance. Instead The Witcher simply waved to Rhaedyn and offered him a seat on the chair beside him. If the man wished. "Long time no see." Mikhail commented Dryly. Elrandir 783 Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) - Rabiyu - Mystras Camp - The Elf had already told many fey, and humans, about the speech Raiden was going to give, some of them looked confused, while others looked angry or simply tired. She took a moment to gather her thoughts, and within that moment Rabiyu managed to sense a familiar presence, the presence of the one she was looking for. It took it a couple of minutes to find the source, a plain looking tent. "May I be allowed to come inside?" she said in her ever present calm tone. Rabiyu waited for a moment before going inside the tent. Once inside she noticed that Alastor was meditating, probably to regain some of his magic reserves. "Master Alastor, I have come to inform you that Lord Raiden as returned and is currently preparing to give a speech regarding the events that transpired last night between the Frostbearer and himself," she said without taking her eyes away from the fey, "He has requested your presence in the clearing near the healer's tents for when he gives his upcoming speech." Scrapmaster 1,731 Posted January 15, 2018 - Alastor - The Storm - His Tent - Silence remaiend throughout as Rabyiu asked if she could come inside the tent, obvious enough permission because of the utter silence that plagued the entire Tent as Alastor meditated. When Rabyiu entered she would see him shirtless, with his bandage from the other day looking brand new and fresh, going all the way from his right hand to his upper and lower back's right side. As Alastor meditated, Lightning flowed seamlessly throughout his entire body and skin. Crackling every once in a while, breaking the silence. Alastor slowly opened his eyes and turned his head to glance at Rabyiu, who told him about Raiden's request. "So he's back...with bad news I see." Alastor spoke, disappointment on his voice as he slowly rose to his feet. "I'l be there." Alastor spoke, and said no more. As he walked over to his armor, which sat idly on the side of his tent. Stardustblade358 806 Posted January 15, 2018 - Helios - Side: Mystras Rebellion - w/ Henry, Aura & Everyth - Helios perked his head up as Everyth arrived, remaining close to Henry. Her scent was familiar, but her appearance was not. It took him a few moments to remember her, the same woman they once encountered before, long ago when they were attempting their escape from Alderon's dungeon. My, how time had passed, and it seemed that it had not been kind to her despite it being short. His hands moved around his necklace, holding it dearly as he glanced around. They had most likely enticed the fury of Kilkis Seres. The murder of a Queen was no laughing matter. Yet, his mind went back to Jynn. The young prince. He had lost his mother, and now was most likely expected to finish what was started. "I hope Jynn is ok." - Arthur - Side: Mystras Rebellion - w/ Draksis - Arthur rubbed his cheek bashfully, but blushed brightly once he mentioned marriage. He rubbed the back of his head bashfully. "I-I mean, I don't know, I would be honored, I truly would love to, I mean, we haven't really talked in a while..." Arthur cleared his throat, chuckling as he had himself calm down. He glanced around, taking a look at King Alderon having a chat with Alex. His expression softened, lowering his hand as he moved it in front of his face, feeling the scars on his face. He was a killer, yet a survivor. It was killed or to be killed, yet he couldn't help but to feel the guilt creep up on him, pulling heavily on his heart. But what weighted him down the most, was the sake of the matter of the book, the same one he held in his messenger bag, holding it close and tight. He couldn't keep this a secret forever, but was now the right moment? In the middle of a war, in an uncertain time? Then when would it be? Wars could last for years...and Visco didn't have that much. - Arthur & Alex FLASHBACK - Sneak Mission - Arthur settled his book to the side as he read the book with Alex. The book told the story of a fairy fallen from grace. An Empress at that...who followed the three defectors to the world below. "A fourth one?" Arthur looked up at Alex. "There was a fourth one?" He quick read, briefly looking over the paragraphs of text. It spoke of her experiments with humans, turning them into creatures, mainly, dogs, before bringing them to the world above with her. That is, before being caught and banished to the world below. "This has to be it!" Arthur began to flip the pages desperately. "This has to be the one!" Arthur said, flipping to one page before feeling his heart fall into the pit of his stomach. The page contain a portrait of the fallen empress, right beneath written out; Lady Empress Midnea, formal portrait. Arthur felt his figure shake. He knew her. They knew her. The right-hand of the king, his most beloved advisor. Arthur felt sick as he dug his nails against the wooden table. "It's her." Arthur hissed, his eyes flaming with a spark as he looked at Alex. "IT'S ALWAYS BEEN HER!" Arthur yelled, unable to control himself as he slammed his hands against the table beneath, a small electric charge following it as it left marks on the wood, as if lightning had struck it. He picked up the book, folding the page of the portrait to bookmark it before closing it, grabbing Alex's hand, adrenaline rushing through his veins from the discovery. The possible cure. The truth. "We must warn the King! We've been searching for a cure and all of this time it's been right in front of us!" Arthur insisted. He had completely forgotten of what they were doing. They were trespassing. And at the moment, he couldn't really give much of a damn.
Saber Lily 1,543 Posted January 15, 2018 -Eclaire- Shiva's ghost. There, on that bed, she saw the woman she loved approach. She let the pillow fall aside as she crawled towards the edge, almost desperate. "Shiva...S-" Her throat caught, the perfume, the fact she was there...She sat on her knees, hand out towards her Queen. "I love you." Was the first words she said. "As long as you were there, Shiva, I never felt like a mistake. I...I for once...felt like I...I felt loved. Even if it was brief...ev....even...if I feel...that knowing you was so short...I fell in love...and...I never felt like a mistake around you." She whispered. There...she finally said it. She told her what her heart said...and even if it was too soon, had known her for too little...she was of more than lust...more...then... Her mind trailed off, as she looked upon Shiva. "...as long as you always believe in me, Shiva...as long as you never...stop...believing...then....then I'll never be a mistake." She croaked. "Don't leave...d...don't leave me." -Rhaedyn Thane- "Mikhail." the massive warrior trundled over, parting the tavern like the ground against his mighty axe. "I need to find a killer." He inclined his had. "The Old Witchers were known to take on tasks thought impossible. This one is less so." Thane crossed his arms, looking at the old warrior. "The Queen is dead. I wish to find the queenslayer, and bring him before the Courts." 1 Nero Kunivas reacted to this
Elrandir 783 Posted January 15, 2018 - Rabiyu - Alastor's tent - Rabiyu watched as Alastor meditated, it wasn't the fact that he was shirtless but rather his bandages, she wasn't aware that he had sustained such damage in battle. "I fear to say that yes, it is bad news," Rabiyu said, "The Frostbearer is indeed dead, but Lord Raiden claims to be innocent." Which she belived he was after what her visions showed her. Still, who would dare to do such act when peace was so close? "This outcome will affect both side. The morale of Kilkis Seres will fall, but desire for retribution will grow," she said flatly, "and Mystras will lose faith in Lord Raiden, unless he can convince them that he is truly innocent." The pieces of the metaphorical board were moving once again, but Rabiyu felt that someone else was moving the pieces from the shadows to get what they desired. She was also worried about the event back in Heimdall and her own personal darkness, but she had to focus on what was happening at the moment.
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted January 15, 2018 {Mariel: Mystras Camp} Mariel placed a hand on Raiden's shoulder when she saw how much this was affecting him. Would he have reacted this way if Mariel had succeed in killing Shiva herself? "It might be better not knowing." The Guardian Angel thought grimly. While she would have preferred to stay with her old charge, Mariel nodded to Raiden's request. She took a different direction than the two judges, informing thus she met and of high rank as she went. Among her wondering, she came across a small meeting of four people. She recognized Aura from seeing her in the healer's tent. At least she was up and moving now. "Please pardon my intrusion." Mariel said as she approached Aura, Henry, Helios, and Everyth. "But Lord Raiden is calling a gathering near the Healer tents."
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted January 16, 2018 --Everyth Castanova -- with Aura, Henry, and Helios-- A frown furrowed Everyth's brow as Aura smiled at her. Not because the girl's smiles were rare, but rather the pearly whites that she flashed in her direction. She was getting ready to say something to her regarding the matter, but was unable to when Mariel approached. Everyth wasn't about to make a big production when all could witness, especially since she didn't particularly know the archangel that well. "I see," was her response once Mariel conveyed her message, nodding toward the woman. "I will be there." Clasping her hands around her elbows, she turned to the party, violet eyes hesitating on Henry briefly before focusing back on Aura. "Well, I'm going to see what his Lordship has to say about all of this. I am also interested in King Alderon's viewpoint on the matter, if he decides to give a word." Now that they were in the Overworld it seemed that Raiden was fully in charge, and little had Everyth heard directly from their king. It seemed a little curious to her that this was so, but it was also partially understandable. This wasn't their world, nor was this wholly their war. And, if Raiden really did kill the queen as others had suggested . . . . She couldn't even imagine what sort of mess they were about to get themselves into. --King Alderon -- Mystras Camp-- Flashback: "Ah, so now you are concerned about my well-being? You are a very difficult one to read, Henry Hansees. I would've thought that you would welcome my death, if not try to bring it upon me yourself." He reached for a glass of water alongside his bedside, which he drew a long sip from. Beads of water fell into his beard, where he had missed his mouth, which he wiped away with the back of his hand before speaking. "Well, since you are here, I may as well satiate your curiosity. You would be correct in my intentions for arriving in this world. While power was something that I once sought to maintain order, I have discovered that our world needs much more than that. In recent days, as you well know, Helvadoria has not been on good terms with Sondon. I invited their king to join me in my quest to the Overworld to restore order and magic, though he declined, deciding to instead attack my kingdom and my daughter while I was away during peace treaties with the Overworld. There are problems everywhere, Henry, and we as a race are very fallible. It is little wonder, truly, why the ice queen desired to seal us to our fate. We are destructive creatures that betray one another and can never learn our lesson." Alderon looked almost disturbed by the fact that Alex bowed to him so deeply in his wounded state. He rose a hand, as though to stop him, though he didn't get the hand far due to the injuries in that shoulder. "Do not injure yourself to pay your respects. I am in a similar position; I understand." It was quite the wonder that any humans walked away from yesterday's battle alive, given that they fought against magic and enchanted weaponry that day. And yet, here their army stood, with far fewer casualties faced than that of their enemy. Perhaps the humans were doing something right in their training after all. "And please, boy, there is no guarding anyone when in the middle of war. You fought and did what you needed to do, as did I. If I wanted protection I wouldn't have ventured out yesterday. We both received what we did, but the important thing is that we both are here today having this conversation, yes?" Something tugged at Alderon as he spoke to Alex, thinking back on the days when he was first crowned and during his first assignments away from home. It was difficult, especially when his dear wife Elicia was back home and he had no means of communication. The king rubbed his beard thoughtfully. "You know," he started slowly. "There might just be a way. Let us ask Lord Raiden upon this matter. This world is filled with all kinds of magic, after all; surely we must be able to get in contact with them somehow." And that would've meant the world to Alderon, particularly right then, to ensure that Visco was alright and knew that he loved her. ~Queen Shiva's Farewell ~ Kilkis Seres Palace~ A soft smile played on Shiva's lips as she tilted her head slightly, listening to Eclaire's warm confession. Perhaps these were things that she had already suspected, but it meant something to actually here her say them. "Why, Eclaire, I have never left you, nor will I ever. After all, a part of my essence still lives within you, does it not?" She placed her hands over Eclaire's shoulders, though they couldn't be felt by the retainer. "I have always believed in you, my dear, from the very day that we met, and you have my word that I shall never stop. You have proven yourself time and again, Eclaire. I have seen your strength, determination, and sincerity." She bowed her head, removing a hand from Eclaire's shoulder to place over the young woman's hands. She went to grasp them, only her fingers slipped right through. "You were there for me when I needed a shoulder to lean on," she admitted softly. "I haven't known what it felt like to be loved for quite some time, nor what it was like to love. You were--no, always--will be very dear to my heart. Though our time together was brief, it was enough. Our paths were meant to cross that day in Ambrosia Forest. Of that I have no doubt. "Now please, lift your chin and smile. I want you to be proud of who you are, Eclaire, just as I am proud of you. Please see my legacy through." Shiva started to move away, though didn't get more than a foot away before pausing. "Oh, yes, and would you do me a favor? Please tell Jynn that I love him, and please guide him as he emerges to the throne. This time will be very difficult for him, and he will need a mother figure more than ever. May I trust that you will be that mother for him, where I cannot, please?" She was not sure how much Jynn would accept Eclaire, nor how willing Eclaire would be to accept this errand, but she couldn't part from this world without knowing that her dear son would be well looked after, as well as loved and cared for. Saber Lily 1,543 Posted January 16, 2018 -Eclaire: Shiva's Farewell- She listened...she listened to Shiva, not allowing herself to miss a single word. Eclaire wished that she could feel Shiva's hands one...one more time. She looked up at her fully, chin up. Shiva was right...she....always had been. Eclaire crawled off the bed and knelt before her, head bowed. She rested one hand on the ground, and the other on her heart. From her back erupted both wings, which she laid out. She had been running away, and had run into the arms of a Queen...and now the Queen visited her for a final word...a final goodbye. Shiva believed in her...was proud of her. Shiva loved her. And... Eclaire could not allow that love to be squandered. "I will love him as if he was my own. I will protect him, and I will care for him. I swear this upon my name, my heart, my very life. I wish I could have become his mother alongside you, Shiva..." She looked up. "I will be there for him. I swear." She felt the tears flowing...Shiva was going to fade soon. "Shiva...I have only one request now. Before you leave..." She took a breath. "Do...you love me?" She asked softly. The last question she asked...the one thing she wanted to confirm. And once the words were uttered, she had many things to do. The first...was to find a blade.
Vaude 536 Posted January 17, 2018 - Lord Raiden, Mystras, flashback - Raiden's eyes softened at Soren's explanation. Horror and grief had a powerful effect on one's spirit, something Raiden knew this more than most, and he could only pity the man. Alas, however, that pity could only go so far in terms of true understanding, and a search magic was limited to only the physically observable, not the emotional. "We have to discuss this some other time, Soren. Now is not it, though I forgive you. Do you have any arcane healing spells? Mine are considerably weak, ashamedly, in comparison to those higher practised. If not, I must rush for assistance. Her life is hanging on a thread, and I must get her to one of the best in his field. I can find him, but feyslayers like this one kill fast and hard, so please be hasty." He bit down, teeth grinding hard as the jaws gnashed against each other. How he wished that he destroyed Zeus' dagger instead of keeping it secured as a relic. Something so dangerous did not need to exist long enough to be turned into a weapon against him or Shiva. - Lord Raiden and Reginald Heathertoes, Mystras, at the campsite - Reginald kept a cool eye on the elven girl as she walked past, having met her previously on the field of battle not even twenty-four hours ago. He still felt the sting of her abilities, his wound throbbing angrily beneath his old and still bloodstained garments. She did not seem to alert others of his presence, and part of him wondered if she recognised if he was there, but there was no mistaking it when she glanced in his direction and still walked on. It amused him, and he wondered exactly what was going on through her head. She was a tricky one, that was for certain, and he had a fascination for the inner machinations of such people. Once everyone present had left to gather the others, Raiden turned around and withdrew into the healer's tents. Licking his lips, Reginald followed and upon lifting a flap found himself confronted inside, Raiden glaring at him with a singular gaze. "What are you doing here?" queried the Lord of Mystras with a low rumble. "Is that any way to speak to someone you sought yesternight?" the other replied, pulling his dark glasses low and revealing his equally dark eyes. "You know me better than that, Odin. I came here for you. I could not save the queen, and the barrier has dropped succinctly and utterly. However, I fear it will not lead the way you want it to, and should the situation ever arise that we need to rebuild this barrier we may need to do it quickly." Raiden blinked in confusion and irritation before weaving a spell for a cone of silence. Sounds drowned out inside and outside the bubble, and only the two could hear each other. "How do you mean? I have analysed this at every angle for many, many years." "You're grasping at straws and do not have all the info, dear chap," Reginald commented, flicking back up his glasses. "You are looking at it from an outside perspective, so I doubt you dig the forces at play. Man and fey are volatile, and both would lust for power and control within years. If your plans fail to work out, war'd ensue again, and a barrier will need to be erected again before things get hairy. However, I still feel it a folly to have crafted such a . . . mutually destructive doohickey, cutting off the magical ties of the lands, so I tweaked it. Barrier 2.0, a more eco-friendly option, got my meaning?" Raiden blinked again in confusion and irritation and commented, "Speak clearer, Reggie. You are getting very strange in your words again." "What I mean," sighed the druid, "is I can make a barrier which does everything the previous one did, but better. Magic could flow through it, though the act of placing the barrier will require sacrifice. It will take a considerably stronger vessel to act as a battery than even the queen, maybe multiples if the vessels are weaker." "I decline this option," answered the ruler with a fold of his hands. "I . . . must have misheard you there," stated Reggie with an afterwards chuckle. "It sounded to me like you were okay with inactivity, or are you just certain of yourself?" "It is not either option." Raiden glanced away towards the stabilised Mystran soldiers, eyeing their ragged breathing as their blanketed chests rose and fell. "Rather, I do not want to knowingly harm anyone more with such an act. Shiva was tormented enough with the knowledge that her being was used as a tool. Why do the same to someone else?" "A fair thought to coax a tortured mind, but you must still consider the possibility, yes? When the lives of the multitude are at stake, the lives of the few must be weighed. Besides"--Reggie grinned toothily--"what if you yourself act as the battery?" Raiden sniffed at the thought and replied: "I am not stronger than the queen. If anything, we are evenly matched in terms of magical potency." "That is not what I witnessed those two thousand years ago when I first was conscripted by Alexander. You carried with you a lust for power back then, and as the years grew younger I noticed a surge in ability, then a decline and lack of interest in power. I am willing to bet that you sealed a portion of yourself away, if not within yourself then without. Am I wrong?" The lord of Mystras shifted uncomfortably and broke his gaze, striking forth a note of triumphant laughter from the druid. "I figured. When you're ready, seek me out again. You still have my calling card, yeah?" "Yes." "Good," replied the hippie with a serpentine grin. "I'll take my leave, then. Don't let it be something tragic that brings us together next time, s'il vous please." Making a swift bow, Reginald left Raiden's company and slipped outside once more, the air feeling a lot less laden with the smell of sweat and dirt. However, so many questions opened up in Raiden's mind, including one most prominent one: What does the future really hold? - Jari Coriander, Kilkes Seres, listening to Yevgeni's speech - Jari woke up late in a bedroll, his head throbbing from last night's bout of drinking and his body achy from sleeping for some time in the knobbly woods. Sadly, he did not remember much of last night's events. He remembered Elia tackling him and after that, well, precious little. His eyes stung a little as he rubbed them, which baffled him until he recalled that he cried last night. The reason for the cry was easy to recall as her name surfaced to his lips: Morana. Snagging a few clothes, he decided to swiftly dress himself rather than bemoan her tragic fate and, upon completion, slipped out into the cold air. People were assembled around a speaker on a crate, most namely the male elf that approached Elia's party outside of the capital Kilkes Seres. What was he doing here, of all people, and why was he--? Jari's eyes opened wide when he listened closer to what was phrased. Shiva was dead? How? Why? For what reason was she slain during her attempt of diplomacy? Unfortunately he thought he knew why. Raiden's desire for war must have led to his killing the queen. Of that he had no doubt after serving in Raiden's spy net for as long as he did. Bile rose to his throat, and he craved to sit down and settle his stomach. It was then that he saw Elia, sitting alone and listening to the speech as well. Swallowing hard, he decided to join her. It was the least he could do in payment for her kindness last night, and all of those other times. "Is this seat taken?" he asked timidly, looking at her in hopes that she would say that it was not. It looked as if she needed a friend, like he did. 1 Nero Kunivas reacted to this
