Director's Secret Report XIII

Recommended Posts

I found this on the official KH Wiki page:

The Director's Secret Report XIII is a thirteen-part expose featuring Tetsuya Nomura's secrets about the worlds, characters, and overall story of the Kingdom Hearts series. This report is included in the book "Another Report" that comes with the Limited Edition version of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+.

Halfway through the interview the interviewer asks this question:

III - About the World of Darkness and such, you haven't gone into detail. Could you possibly talk about some of these things? Does the beach at the beginning and end of KH [iI] have some connection to the World of Darkness?

Presently there are 4 main untold stories to consider: "the period of the King's absence", "the period of Riku's absence", "Roxas's time in Organization XIII" and "Xehanort's past". In this case, the story of "the period of the King's absence" is set in the realm of darkness. I am examining a way to tell these 4 stories so I might be able to find a way to tell them soon.

As we know so far:

Roxas's time in Organization XIII: 358/2 Days

The period of the King's absence: 0.2 BBS -A Fragmentary Passage-

Xehanort's past: BBS and maybe KH3?

But interestingly, "the period of Riku's absence" I believe, has not been told yet?

Do you feel this will be told in 0.2 BBS along with the King's absence, since a flashback of Riku was shown in the BBS Volume Two secret ending, or even in KH3? I guess only time will tell.

By the way, I think it's crazy with this interview being conducted in 2006/7 that it's taken around 10 years to tell Mickey's story! Can't believe how much time has passed since then.

If anybody adds false info to the KH wiki it gets reverted almost immediately. I remember reading that interview many years ago. It's definitely real.

It's good to see Nomura staying true to his word and telling us these four stories. I think this interview was conducted in 2006/7 so it's unreal to think he finally get's to tell Mickey's story a staggering 10 years later! That's crazy..

Xehanort's past was Birth By Sleep.

edited dude, thanks

I thought Riku's absence was pretty much told in Days? You know that whole "Organization Impostor" deal

Ah right yeah, thanks for that! I was wondering if they had dealt with it in some way so that probably sums it up. Maybe Riku will talk more about their past with Mickey in KH3 too since they will be teaming up with each other to clarify a few things. Edited by SnowPint7Fourths

Aw, this is so cool! I want this mysterious book so I can have all the secret reports to myself! D:

But anyways, it's awesome we've gotten the untold stories told to us one by one!  About right now, the only stories left to witness are the King's absence and Xehanort's past!  While Birth By Sleep served to explain Xehanort's motives for doing what he does, we don't know much of his past life, other than the fact he came from Destiny Islands and was trained in the art of the Keyblade, and has always been curious about the Keyblade War!  I'm pretty sure that Kingdom Hearts III will delve a little deeper into Xehanort's past, considering that conversation he and Eraqus have when they are younger, implying we might see more backstory on their part, ya know? :3

Anyone else feel that the period of Riku's absence could potentially make a pretty great DLC for KH3? I mean I really don't think it's enough for a full game, but isn't that pretty spread out? It could refer to post CoM/ during 358 stuff, and post KH2 prologue to explain how he got Way to the Dawn and Destiny's Embrace. It's the perfect kind of DLC since it's material that wouldn't really work for the main story of 3 but could provide a little extra playtime and possibly develop characters like Namine more.
