Roleplay Stray Brothers (1x1 with Shashafury)

The beaming sun radiated strongly during a hot summer day in the outskirts of town. Stranded on a small island a small way from the mainland was two kittens. They were twins from the same litter- the only ones from the litter. They were abandoned- the only thing they had was each other.

Roxas was laying down next to a tree, bathing as much as he could in the shade. He was curled up next to his brother, alert and ready to strike at anything that was a threat. He shivered- the kitten was starving. He wasn't very good at hunting due to his small amount of time in the world and he gave most of his food to his brother so that he may eat.

"How are you feeling...?" Roxas lazily asked with a meow to his brother, trying his best to stay awake. He was pretty tired and all he wanted was a nice serving of milk.

The small kitten kept his eyes shut. The world was indeed a scary place, much too big for such a small creature. Everything was intimidating and he didn't know how to handle it. Sure he could hide behind his brother but who would protect him then? He didn't move much except for the occasional shiver and shift as he tried getting comfortable. He finally moved once he heard his brothers voice. He let out a small groan as he stretched his stuff muscles before responding "Same as always" he quietly murmured before finally looking around, trying to get to his feet withiut stumbling over "Roxas...I don't think we're going to make it far" he said in a quiet, disheartened mewl

Roxas opened his eyes in annoyance at his brother. Roxas hated when his brother said such words, but it was honestly a valid point. As feisty as Roxas was, he was still just a kitten. They had no mother to feed from, no means of protecting oneself other than premature claws. Luckily they haven't bumped into savage wild animals yet however it was only a matter of time. Even if Roxas could fight, he had no energy to do so. He was just too hungry.

"Don't say that..." Roxas uttered, licking his brother behind his ear. "Come on... Get on my back... Let's look for some kind of food."

Ven's eyes narrowed slightly before shaking his head "I'm sorry Roxas, but you know it's true" he urged before huffing as he watched Roxas, who urged him to climb on his back. Ven's ears pinned back before nudging his brother "Roxas, you know you can't. You can barely carry yourself" he said, but he still stood and used his brother as a form of support, leaning against his side

"Can it." Roxas uttered, struggling to carry his brother. He didn't want to show he was weak, but he couldn't help it reguardless. With a huff, he began to support his brother as he led him out of their sleeping place and towards the edge of the forest.

"You can't tell me what I can and can't do." He uttered. "I can do it."

 

Meanwhile, on a boat in the river, a father was out fishing with his two sons. The older son, Vanitas grumbled as he laid back on the boat, coal sunglasses over his eyes along with a matching bucket hat and headphones blasting punk rock music. He utterly hated the trip and thought it was the stupidest thing in the world.

The father sighed softly as he watched his son, waiting for a bite to grab onto his pole.

"Kids these days..." He huffed.

Ventus lowered his head a little as his brother spoke. Ven grumbled under his breath before speaking up "Roxas...you know I worry about you too" he reminded. He was in no position to boss his brother around "if I don't look out for you, who will?" He questioned, nuzzling his brothers neck before taking in their surroundings. He tried making it easy on his brother by not putting too much weight on his brother. "I'm thirsty, we should go get some water"

 

Sora was more than happy to be here. He liked fishing. Well, he had to admit, it was boring but he enjoyed the view and just how relaxing it was, and if they did get a catch, their mom would cook it up. He hummed a little as he held his fishing rod. His attention was brought to his older brother when his dad spike up. He blinked a couple of times before grinning. He reached over and carefully pull up one of the speakers of his brothers headphones so that he could hear him "You're gonna go deaf in no time if you listen to your music that loud Vanny" he said in a teasing coo

"I know you worry about me..." Roxas uttered, walking along with his brother towards the edge of the forest. The walk felt like hours and it was a mission to just take every single step. Roxas didn't know how long he could keep this up and worse yet- Ventus knew this as well.

"We'll get some water..." Roxas breathed. Upon a few dreadful minutes of walking, the shore started to come into view. Soon after, a boat could be seen a few yards away. Roxas stopped right in his tracks, stairing hard at the boat.

"What is that...?" He asked, trying his best to get a good look.

 

Vanitas growled in annoyance as his little brother interrupted his relaxation. With a grimace, he swatted at his brother and pushed him away with his hand on Sora's face.

"Don't call me that shit, eyesore." Vanitas hissed.

"Hey!" The father came, scolding at the older son.

"Language and keep your hands off of your brother."

"Whatever, I should've stayed home with mom- this trip is so stupid." He uttered, stairing right at the sky through his sunglasses.

The father rolled his eyes, huffing as he looked out into the water. "Don't listen to your brother." The father said to Sora. "We'll show him. We'll catch the biggest fish in the world."

Ventus couldn't help but sigh a little. He knew Roxas was only looking out for him since Ventus was the runt of the litter and his walking abilities weren't up to par with his brothers but it hurt him to see his brother struggling. Roxas would give him all the food and he rarely saw Roxas eat, that wasn't healthy. He kept his gaze low though as they walked until they were near the shore. His ears perked a little as he could hear something in the distance. He finally lifted his head and look around, until he saw a boat in the distance. His eyes widened a little "...I don't know but...something's on it, and it's moving" he said. After a closer inspection, he could make out two figures, he didn't know there was three since he couldn't make out the third person. "...could those be...those 2 legged creatures?" He never met humans in person, they've been strays all their short life so he was unsure of the actual term and their mom never called then anything specific. He carefully leaned off of his brother and wobbled towards the edge of the water "maybe they have food"

 

Sora tensed before trying to push his brothers hand away "Hey!" Sora shouted in slight annoyance by his brothers rude action. He huffed a little and shot a glare in his brothers direction. How ungrateful. Sora did not have the best relationship with his brother. Her was a pretty big douchebag but he never really said that out loud, he did want to get his but kicked by the older teen. Sora looked away from his brother, rolling his eyes before looking at his dad. Sora was now back to his chipper mood, a big smile plastered on his face, giving a quick nod "Yeah! And it's going to taste great once mom cooks it up! Then he'll see how great fishing is"

Roxas nodded, stairing at the creatures floating around in the water. He didn't really know what to do- he never saw such things before. Normally Roxas would stay away from him but he was desperate- he was willing to do anthing for food. As he tried to get a closer look, Roxas noticed the father put a piece of chicken on the food for bait.

"That's... Food!" Roxas exclaimed, looking straight at the delicious piece of meat on the hook. "They're just throwing it away! Well... It looks edible at least." He looked back to Ventus, then back to the boat and back to Ventus once more. How was he going to get over to the boat? Roxas looked right into the water. He hated water, but he as willing to do anything to feed his brother.

"We're going to have to swim." Roxas uttered, looking to Ventus. "They might be dangerous, so I'll go first. Just make sure you stay behind me okay? I don't want to leave you alone here."

 

Vanitas rolled his eyes underneath his sunglasses, kicking his legs up ontop of the bucket of bait to sun bathe. Perhaps taking a nap might speed up the dreadful fishing trip.

"You guys won't even be able to catch a tin can."

The father casted his pole out once more, quite determine to catch a fish now to prove his elder son wrong. "Keep talking like that and the tin can will knock you right upside the head."

Ventus also noticed the food, his little ears perked as he closely eyed the chicken. He didn't understand what they were doing? We're they doing that for them? Or were they really just throwing out the food? Why would they do that!? It looked perfectly fine to him. Ven looked at his brother. He seemed to hesitate for a bit. Swimming was not his thing though he guessed it was easier than walking, beside the fact that you can drown if you don't know how to swim. He let out a small breath before nodding "Yeah, I'll stay behind you" he reassured before hesitantly sticking a paw into the water, quickly pulling back as he felt just how cold the water was. He did not want that but they had no other choice, so he stuck all his paws in, holding his breath as he got used to the waters temperature under his paw pads.

 

"Stop being so negative, Vanny" Sora urged, still using the nickname on purpose, knowing full well how much his brother hated it. The big snickered at their fathers comment "I hope it does" he murmured with a small grin before look back out towards the water, checking for any movement nearby that can signal a fish

Roxas watched as Ventus tested the water. A small sigh left his snout as he watched the kitten place his paws in the water.

"We have to hurry." He said, taking a few steps forward to gently bite Ventus on the neck, ushering him into the water some more. Upon seeing the boat float further away, Roxas went right into the water and began to swim to the boat. He rapidly flailed his little arms and paws around everywhere, doing everything in his power to make it to the boat. He hissed at the meer feeling of he freezing gross water.

 

Meanwhile, the father sighed as he kept watch on his line. Honestly he wasn't expecting any sort of bite soon, which didn't help in his effort to prove Vanitas wrong. Despite this however, on the side of the boat he saw something blonde and tiny approach the boat. The father raised his eyebrows.

"...What in the world...?" He blinked his eyes. Was he really seeing a kitten swim to the boat. A kitten out of all things. Swimming at that. "Uh..."

Vanitas groaned in boredom, taking off his glasses to go see what the heck his father was going on about.

"What? Oh-" he suddenly snorted, completely not expecting a kitten? "Perfect we got more bait-"

"Vanitas, be quiet." The father grumbled, pulling out his line. "Sora, come help me with this little guy. Get a towel."

Ven seem to struggle a little as he was dragged into the freezing water. He let out a small hiss but didn't bat at his brother. He shook his head a little as he was let go. He hesitated before quickly swimming after his brother, shivering a little as he swam but didn't stop since he didn't want to be left behind. The small kitten let out a couple mewls, hoping to catch the creatures attention. He seemed to brighten as the man looked towards them, thank goodness, he was freezing.

 

Sora looked around before looking at what his dad was looking at. "Are those...Kitten!?" He questioned. He shot a glare at Vanitas as he overhead his comment, pushing his arm, not too hard but hard enough to get his point through. He quickly nodded before reaching for the towels they had brought and quickly handed it to their father "Is their mom with them?" He questioned. Trying to look over his father's shoulder

"I don't know..." The father said, reaching out to grab onto Roxas by the nape of his neck, plopping him down into the towel so his son could dry the kitten. "I don't see anything behind the second one." He then grabbed Ventus by the nape of his neck as well, lifting him up into the boat. He wrapped Ventus up in the second towel and began to ruffle it up, trying to dry the kitten as quickly as possible.

"Aw, you guys are thin to the bone. You won't like raw chicken, but I'm sure Vanitas has nice turkey from his turkey sandwich he could donate you little tykes."

Vanitas suddenly shot up, looking at his father with fire in his eyes. "What the- I'm not giving them my lunch!" He exclaimed.

"You keep yapping your mouth. You stuffed your face with junk food before we came on the trip anyway. You can have my sandwich if it's really bothering you that much." He muttered, rolling his eyes before he began to reach into his lunch bag for Vanitas' sandwich. "Want to help feed these cuties Sora?"

Vanitas only grumbled, muttering a few words to himself as he crossed his arms and poured.

"I hate turkey anyway." He uttered.

 

Roxas certainly wasn't expecting being lifted up by his neck. Almost immediatly he was wrapped up in a towel and handed over to another boy. Right after that, he saw his brother being lifted up by the same person and wrapped in a towel as well. The kitten struggled in Sora's grasp, meowing and clawing at the towel.

Ven's excitement soon turned to terror as he was lifted. They were a lot bigger than the had expected and obviously, a lot stronger since they didn't seem to have much trouble picking the kittens up. Ven didn't appreciate the ruffling, letting out annoyed meows and the occasional hiss, no use though. He did like the warmth though so that was the only thing that calmed him, until he heard his brothers cries and meowed right back. They weren't taking him away, right!?

 

Sora carefully held the kitten in his arms before using part of the towel to dry off the kitten in his arms, making sure to dry him completely off. Sora nodded "You bet! I bet they're starving" he said before tensing as the kitten began to struggle in the towel "shhh" he quietly said, trying to calm the kitten. He wasn't sure what to do before he heard the other kitten meowing as well. He hummed a little before carefully placing the towel next to the other so the two kitten aren't separated "Why don't you help feed them Vanny? Aren't they cute? I'm sure a sourpuss like you can't deny their cuteness."

"I'm going to drop kick you if you call me that one more time." He hissed, grumbling as his father shot a glare straight into his direction. He only ignored he kittens, putting his sunglasses right back on as he rested his arms on the rim of the boat. "What cuteness? They look like they have rabies or something."

"Rabies. Really?" Came the father, setting Roxas down right next to the brother kitten. "They would look very different if they had rabies. But we should make sure they're not sick though. We'll have to stop by the vet before we get home." With a hum, the father took out a small sandwich and separated the turkey from it. He ripped the turkey in half, setting a two small pieces infront of the kittens to show that it was food. He gave a bigger piece to Sora. "Let them smell you and come to you. Want to surprise your mother with two adorable kittens?"

 

Roxas only squirmed even more, growling and hissing at the teen holding him. He utterly hated being wrapped up in a towel. Luckily a moment later he was set down next to his brother. Roxas approached Ventus and began to lick him, trying his best to clean his brother.

"They didn't... Hurt you... Did they?" Roxas asked in between licks. A moment later, the turkey was set down infront of them. Roxas paused. "Is that food?"

Sora frowned before shaking his head "wow, you just can't stop bring mean, can you?" He muttered before looking at the piece deli meat given to him. He gave a small nod as he watched the two kittens for a moment as the two reunited and took a bite of their food before taking a small piece of the meat he held and held it out towards the kittens, trying to lure them in "Come here cuties" he quietly cooed.

 

Ven was relieved when his brother was beside him again. He started to purr, he let out a small meow before tensing as his brother started to bathe him. "Yeah, I'm fine" he quickly reassured , trying to get his brother to stop before his attention was redirected to something pink that was placed in front of then. Whatever it was, it smelled delicious. The small runt took a sniff of the meat "it sure smells like it" he murmured before carefully taking a nibble of it. Not only did it smell good but it tasted great! The kitten didn't hesitate to gulp the rest of the cold meat down before looking at his brother "it taste great too!" He exclaimed. He eyed the meat in the smallest creatures hand. He seemed to hesitate before taking a couple steps forward, sniffing the air

Vanitas rolled his eyes, completely ignoring Sora's comment. He placed his hands behind his head, not bothering to look at the kittens one bit.

The father was rather aggravated at his older son. He couldn't help but chuckle however upon seeing the kittens interact and eat.

"There you go. You're doing great Sora." The father praised, watching as the kittens approached them.

 

Roxas continued to bathe Ventus, ignoring his words. When Ventus went forward to eat, he was going to stop him until his brother expressed how good it was. Roxas went forward as well, letting Ventus eat before taking a bite of his own.

"Wow..." Roxas uttered, body crying tears of joy to finally get some food. He saw the father offer some turkey as well and Roxas went forward to eat.

Sora smiled as he watched the two kittens before blinking "Wait, hold on! Did you say we're keeping the kittens!?" He questioned, excitedly. It had totally went over his head but now that he took a moment to think over what was happening, it finally hit him. He smiled brightly "I'm sure mom would love them! Kairi has some kittens too! I'm sure they can be friends and I'm sure Aqua wouldn't mind some new cats back home"

 

Ven happily meowed as he ate from the creatures strange paws. He made sure not to bite the creature, maybe they were poisonous , but took big chunks from the deli meat "Roxas, maybe if we stay, they'll give us more food" he said in between nibbles and bites and once he was done, he even licked Sora's fingers, only for a while though, until the flavor disappeared

"Wow you just noticed that?" Vanitas asked in monotone, always impressed that Sora was actually able to prove himself stupider than Vanitas thought he was.

"Don't listen to him." The father huffed, reaching forward to ruffle Roxas' head. "Your mother and Aqua is going to fall in love with them. Especially Aqua. She was always the motherly type. I'm sure she would love taking in these two kittens as her own. If you'd like, later you can invite Kairi over to help give the kittens a bath. They need to be cleaned."

 

Roxas finished his food, pausing in between bites to make sure Ventus was well fed. He always made sure Ventus was full before he ate himself. Once Ventus was done, Roxas approached Ventus and nuzzled his head with his brother's.

"If you want to. It's better than this forest."

Sora grimaced for a moment before shaking his head. He wasn't going to let Vanitas get to him. Sora nodded in agreement "Yeah! I hope so! I mean, who could hate the little guys?" He said, watching the two kittens interact "and they seen pretty calm so I'm sure we won't have much trouble with them" he said, rubbing behind both their ears.

 

Ven purred as he butted and nuzzled his brother back before responding "Well then, it's official, we're staying with the 2 legged things" he announced happily before relaxing inti Sora's touch. Ven was very excited for whatever was coming up, he couldn't wait to be somewhere warm and safe, plus, food.

"I think it's possible for someone to not like these kittens. Like your sourpuss of a brother." The father said, nodding over to Vanitas. "And just because they're calm, doesn't mean they are good boys. When you and your brother were babies, you boys were so cute... But then you decided to make a ruckus and a mess absolutely everywhere. I almost went bald because of you two." He said with a chuckle, turning on the boat to start heading back. He made sure to keep a steady eye on the kittens, making sure they weren't going to do anything silly.

 

Roxas stood silent, watching Ventus interact with Sora. He decided to lay down ontop of Sora's foot, showing thanks for him taking being nice and taking care of his little brother. He began to purr as well, throat vibrating against Sora's skin. He was relived that his brother now had food in his stomach and honestly Roxas was happy to be full himself. When the boat roared to life and began to move, Roxas looked around but lot settled his tint head a moment later on Sora's foot.
