KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted July 5, 2016 I do and can sing it off the top of my head. For those of you who don't know your country's national anthem, I suggest you learn it and learn the words of it for your and your nation's sake.

Dave 5,715 Posted July 5, 2016 I don't think any nation is dependent on whether or not it's citizens know their national anthem. You need to learn it in order to sing it in unison with all other citizens to waken your country's sleeping mecha spirit animal that runs nationalism for when the aliens attack. 6 Sendou Aichi, Shimmy, Caity and 3 others reacted to this

Trece the Xam ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) 3,859 Posted July 5, 2016 I know the one from the area where I live in my country. I don't know if my country currently has one, and if it has, it probably is the old one, which is fascist and stuff (from the dictatorship). 1 2 quid is good reacted to this
Hoshiko Hikari 301 Posted July 5, 2016 I can't really think of any situation where it would be necessary to know it. I found myself in such a situation several years ago for the (British) Queen's Diamond Jubilee - 60 years on the throne - when everyone was singing the national anthem and I realised the only line I knew was 'God save the Queen'! I then made sure that I at least learned the first verse of it so I wouldn't feel so stupid next time. 1 2 quid is good reacted to this

Shimmy 458 Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) I can sing it off the top of my head but as others have said, I don't find my Nation's dependent on whether or not I can sing these words or not. As someone whose first language isn't entirely english let me assure you there are different ways to express patriotism and gratitude beyond a song. I think I just committed treason, but if I did then so did everyone else in primary school. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT, I'M TAKING YOU DOWN WITH ME. I never actually knew the anthem until the London Olympics, when I was 13 Never too late I suppose, but I knew the general tune and that However, I did know Jerusalem, which is seen as *England's * anthem. In the sane vein Flower of Scotland is Scotlands anthem. And did those feet in ancient times Walk upon England's mountains green And was the holy lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen And did the countenance divine Shine on upon our clouded hills And was Jerusalem builded here Upon these dark satanic mills
