Video Kairi's Theme Vocal Cover with Original Lyrics

Recommended Posts

Hmmm... This feels like a good time as any to flex the metaphorical musical muscles I have gathered while studying musical conducting.

>>>Do note that I absolutely love Kairi, so this may/will be a very harsh, biased critique...<<<

Tempo is rather spot on for Kairi's Theme, and since it stays true to her original theme, I have no qualms about. The piano that dominates this cover with some flutes kicking in is pretty good for, once again, staying true to her original theme. However, once your lyrics are inserted, it becomes a whole different thing. Now for the mechanics:

I know somewhere out there

Once I called my home

But now when I am here

With you, it feels like I belong

No matter how far I go

I know you're here

I can always return

The stars will lead me right back home to you

Our hearts are now intertwined

Connected destinies we'll find

Wherever you go I have faith

That my heart will always keep you safe

You are not alone

I'm always in your heart

My light will guide you through

You'll find the path you seek tonight

If you look inside

you'll see me in your dreams

No matter where you go

I'll always be right there with you

A new journey's starting (Our hearts are now intertwined)

who knows, maybe it's not so hard (Connected destinies we'll find)

One, one destiny (Wherever you go I have faith)

You'll find your way (That my heart will always keep you safe)

There are many worlds out there

But they all share

a heart that's intertwined

so we're under the same wide blue sky

surely you'll return

When we are far apart

You're always on my mind

my heart is with you wherever you are

So... let us begin. The lyrics are really good and befitting for her and fits rather well for the song. I noticed the 'message' lyrics instantly and it is commendable that you managed to pull it off. But [you knew this was coming], there were some obvious 'errors' in the lyrics with the music. First verse, "With you it feels like I belong" is off one beat. I know you stretched the "I" out to cover for it, but since "I" is both one beat and one word unto itself, it becomes obvious and feels 'off'. Sure other words were stretched a beat or two to fit, but those were of multiple syllabuses.

The music itself. The only main issue I have for it was that it was consistent throughout the song. If there was a slow section that was accompanied by a shift to a more softly spoken tone [that would capture her more playful, KH1 personality] it would have been absolutely perfect.

All in all, I'd say this was a really good vocal cover of her theme. Hope to see more KH themed vocal covers from you!

nicely conducted, with a nice moody arrangement, and nice voice.

I agree with most of what Javelin434 said so no need to repeat here

keep up the good work, you've got something nice there
