The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) Hey guys! Welcome back to another Food For Thought, you guys killed it last week with the discussion on the concept of Love, my personal favourites came from : Dave, MythrilMagician and Transcendent Key! You can check it out here http://kh13.com/forum/topic/97832-food-for-thought-what-is-your-idea-of-love-read-op/ In case the OP was too long, this week's discussion is about our home. "Why Do You Think We Should Take Care of the Planet? We were all born in different places at different times, but the home we all share is right beneath our feet! Why do you think we should take care of it? If you don't think we should take care of the planet you can list your reasons for that too. Typical Rules apply! I want this to be a serious discussion where we can all act maturely. Answers can include references to religious beliefs and teachings from any Holy Book. You can also include quotes from any person or entertainment medium to help you, oh and you can use pictures as long as they aren't silly memes. You can challenge people's ideas as long as you are 100% respectful towards their ideas. My opinion; If you've played Final Fantasy 7 you'll know that the game talks a lot about the earth. Aeris can hear the "Cries of the Planet", almost as if the earth was a sentient being. That game made me care a lot more about the environment. I also think the planet is sentient in a way, when we are kind to the planet it'll respond well but if we damage it then we recieve bad things like global warming. The Planet is the mother of all human life and we should treat her right! If you believe in a Creator like I do, I'm sure you wouldn't want to disrespect their creation. Of course, there are certain things we cannot avoid, we can't completely stop harming our Planet and reverse the damage, but we need to reduce the damage! The earth is my first home. What do you guys think? Edited June 22, 2016 by Shinobi Palace 2 The Transcendent Key and MythrilMagician reacted to this
Javelin434 3,164 Posted June 22, 2016 -We only have 1 planet. Despite all our technological advances, colonization of other extraterrestrial planets is currently not possible due to many constraints [fuel, resources, knowledge, etc] and on top of that, we can screw up this world faster than we can ditch it for a new one. -Pursuing the concept of 'green technologies,' despite many dumb critics saying its not viable, spurs innovation and new technological discoveries. Think about this for a moment: we have not had any major technological breakthroughs for the humble battery since 1997. Let that sink in for a moment. MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted June 23, 2016 This planet is our home and it is our duty to protect it. As humans, we've already done a lot of damage to it and that was unjust of us. It has given us food, water and resources to live, yet we continue to abuse it. Also, what good would it do to destroy the beauty of life that God has given us? What we should do is investigate new ways to use and obtain resources in a way that won't harm our planet, which I believe is already underway, but we should work harder to do it. It has been our home for centuries and we should continue to leave it that way until the end of time. 3 The 13th Kenpachi, The Transcendent Key and Yuya Sakaki reacted to this
Veemon 1,540 Posted June 23, 2016 We should definitely take care of our beloved planet, because it's the very thing we live on. There really is no excuse to not help because no matter what you're like, you can help the planet by doing things that are helpful, from Recycling to saving an endangered species! I really do love the Earth that God has created, even if there are some nasty and scary things in it. There are people who hate just about everything for reasons untold, and natural disasters that ruin thousands of lives, and if we don't try to protect the planet from these threats, what will happen then? I'd rather not find out. There are also many beautiful creatures and even people that may fall victim to regretless terrorists and poachers. We need to stand together and protect Earth for as long as we can. That is my input on this topic. Rock on! 3 Shimmy, The 13th Kenpachi and The Transcendent Key reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted June 23, 2016 Ooh, yay! I was expecting another food for thought topic to come around! By the way, I'm glad you liked my thoughts on the meaning of love! Okay then, let's get down to this topic! ^_^ What infuriates me about us humans is the fact that we discredit the Earth. Like, we take everything for granted! Humanity is a messed up species that has set out to destroy! Well, I mean, obviously, I don't mean that all of us are like this, but greedy corporations and overall harmful technological pursuits are destroying our planet! The fact is that God gave us this beautiful world to live in, but what good is this world if we're going to mistreat it? That's why I never throw trash around the environment and only throw it in a trash can, and I don't do things that would harm the environment, ya know? But unfortunately, not everyone has the same mindset. There's lots of people that don't give two cents for nature, ya know? It's like that famous saying goes: "You don't know what you have till its gone!" And sadly but truly, in the decades to come, we'll probably have the misfortune of having to witness this world plummet into a severe drought of resources! It's gonna be chaotic! I really don't want to think about that, though, cuz it's depressing! And even if we don't witness this change in the world, our children will probably witness it! D: Heck, if you want to know how the planet will end up being screwed over, take a good look at Wall-E! Humanity's foolishness led to the Earth becoming one literal trash heap! The good thing is that there's always people willing to work for the betterment of the Earth. While sadly there are more people that don't care, at least there are still people like us that are conscious of our planet, ya know? God gave it to us, so we should be grateful! That's what I think, anyway! 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

Chuksa 6 Posted June 23, 2016 I think that when the entire population of the planet is enough self-aware of what's happening around us, some might finally notice that money is made of paper. Have any of you heard of Vauban? "Vauban is a neighbourhood to the south of the town centre in Freiburg, Germany.[1] It was built as "a sustainable model district" "All houses are built to a low-energy consumption standard, with 100 units designed to the Passivhaus ultra-low energy building standard.[4] Other buildings are heated by a combined heat and power station burning wood chips, while many of the buildings have solar collectors or photovoltaic cells.[5] Perhaps the best example of sustainable building is the Solar Settlement in Vauban, a 59 PlusEnergy home housing community. It is the first housing community world-wide in which all the homes produce a positive energy balance. The solar energy surplus is then sold back into the city's grid for a profit on every home" From Wikipedia In my opinion, as you said, we can't change the past. "The past is in the past" Let it go - Frozen That's why, this self-sustainable district (with a positive energy balance) seems to be one of the good solutions. It is possible to live as we have always lived without draining the river of life. I reached quota sadly! In order to protect earth, would you ever find it acceptable to kill off an endangered species? If a certain animal was a threat and was harming the planet, would it be 'okay' to kill it off? Have you some example? I can't imagine how, especially an endangered species can lead to the detruction of a planet. No offense, I mean, we are so little and this world so vast. If it is indeed a treat, I don't think it can have any chance of surviving. Godzilla didn't stand a chance. . . The governement would probably capture them and. . . that's it. (That's why there are no more Pokemons) 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

Thousands of Gorillas in zoos all accross the globe break out of their cages and start killing all animals they find which leads to the extreme disruption of food chains everywhere. The gorillas reproduce very rapdily into a population of 1 million. It turns out that the gorillas all have a specific gene that makes them very violent and that the gene has spread accross the Gorilla population. Do we kill the Gorillas off completely to prevent them disturbing nature? Awesome Sauce 634 Posted June 23, 2016 Because it has the resources and elements necessary for the human race to survive, not to mention it's our home. Something as beautiful as Earth should be safeguarded and kept in good condition.

The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) I reached quota sadly! In order to protect earth, would you ever find it acceptable to kill off an endangered species? If a certain animal was a threat and was harming the planet, would it be 'okay' to kill it off? Ooo, that's a tough nut to crack! I would say no, because then we'd be destroying a species completely, and that'd be kind of a bummer, ya know? But if you think in retrospect, we humans are destroying the world, so nature might someday want to weed us out and exterminate us, as we are a threat to its own existence, ya know? There are reasons why natural disasters happen...nature has a dark side, it gets angry, just like we humans do! Think about that! Inception!!!! O.O An example... I thought of this, it's crazy I know, take it with a grain of salt. The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted June 30, 2016 Well because it is the logical way of thinking. Have you ever heard dog ever try to destroy their house?. I don't wanna die? This seems like a no-brainer. Is anyone in favor of destroying the planet? There are a lot of corporate scum bags who don't care about the planet and are just after money. Some people don't care about the planet because it simply doesn't matter to them, once they are dead then they won't be affected by any of the crazy things that will plague earth later on. Dead topic anyway lol.
