The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted June 20, 2016 Which version did you prefer more so? Hmm, I think KH1, I prefer the game more than KH2, but also because they had a better relationship with Sora than in KH2. In KH1 they argued, like a real friendship whilst in KH2 they got reduced to comic relief. They are also less useless in KH1 than in KH2 from what I recall. They stuck up for Sora when Riku launched that attack in Hollow Bastion, they felt more like people in KH1 than in KH2. 2 SoraVen Roxas??? and ReverofE reacted to this
Moochieh32 676 Posted June 20, 2016 Notice the difference in damage they deal in 1 and 2? In 1, they do much more damage, when in 2, they literally just deal 1 point damage, at least when Sora gets more powerful later in the game. Hopefully they'll fix it again in 3. With that said, 1 is my favorite, along with the things Shinobi mentioned. 1 ReverofE reacted to this
Kaweebo 3,617 Posted June 20, 2016 Do you mean gameplay-wise or storywise? Because gameplay-wise, their AI was definitely more improved in KHII. They were a lot more helpful, particularly when it came to their own sets of Limit abilities, as well. (Donald's Duck Flare straight-up murdered the Experiment boss) Storywise, I wouldn't really say either is 'better'. That's like saying your best friend is 'better' now than he was a year ago because you've been friends longer. They're the same characters from KH1 and KHII, they've just grown along with Sora and obviously place his friendship much higher on the list in the second game. But neither is really better than the other.
Sendou Aichi 2,356 Posted June 20, 2016 Gameplay-wise, KH1 easily. MP gift is pretty useful
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted June 20, 2016 Gonna have to be a little more specific than that, since peoples' answers could either come from the gameplay side of things or the story side of things. I'd say for either, both have their strengths and weaknesses in each game. It just depends on what you're looking for and what you value more.
Kingdomhe 1,362 Posted June 20, 2016 KH2 for sure

You're forgetting that right before they came to his rescue, they basically left him in the dust to join with Riku and fulfill their objective. They would never do something like that in the second game, and in that same game , they even showed how they're far they're willing to defy King Mickey, much like they do in KH1, in order to help Sora, except in this game instead of having to be convinced that they need to help Sora, they just do it out of instinct. That's a true mark of friendship that you wouldn't see replicated in the first game where up until the end, they only banded together because of a unified objective. Think of it as an average of both. You could also specify which part(gameplay or story) you preferred them in. Gameplay-wise, KH1 easily. MP gift is pretty useful MP Gift & Evolution were always my favorite ablities in KH1 and all of its updated rereleases. Too bad they only appear in KH1 or KH1FM, KH1.5 and never in KH2. Hence why I kind of hated Goofy in KH2.
Komali 594 Posted June 20, 2016 Of course KH2 in every aspect. They had the funniest moments together in KH2. I realize how I missed to fight and go to an adventure with Sora, Donald and Goofy. KH3 will better have these cute, little moments and interactions in the group. For example when Goofy was the only one who realized that Mulan is a girl and Donald and Sora were like "Woooot". Goofy was always a brain somehow lmao. 1 Firaga reacted to this

Hence why I kind of hated Goofy in KH2. Eh, same answer for me in that case. There's reasons for me to like them in both. KH1 had that steady development of their friendship with Sora as well as had a pretty solid use of their unique abilities, Donald having access to all spells and Goofy having his unique support abilities. KH2 had them in their already established friendship dynamic with a little more room for silly antics since they were all so familiar with each other by that point. And while their former means of support had been diminished somewhat, Donald only having access to the four basic spells at a set level and Goofy no longer having those support abilities that were so useful, their Limits still made for a fun and creative dynamic that brought the speed of the game's combat up to a new level. Which one you settle on depends on your preferences, but personally I like both about the same amount for those and other reasons.
xxClouDxxmoon 901 Posted June 21, 2016 KH1. Both story and gameplay wise. KH2 was more focused on just Sora doing the fighting. Something which sadly will probably not change with KH3. 1 ReverofE reacted to this
thatkingdomheartsguy 153 Posted June 24, 2016 KH2. The friendship between the 3 was strengthened even more, which is saying something. Also, the fact that you can Configure their AI's in KH2 so that they won't ever attack enemies and only use support actions such as healing makes them better in every way.
