The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted May 18, 2016 (edited) Indeed, like with Star Wars, one of the reasons why we KH fans love the Kingdom Hearts series so much is because of it's amazing musical score! I love the music found in all of the games, but I have to say that Kingdom Hearts II takes the cake in terms of an impressive soundtrack! Second and third place would have to go to Birth By Sleep and Dream Drop Distance, for both of those games have amazing soundtracks as well! In fact, some of my favorite tracks are in these two games! As for Kingdom Hearts III, I really hope that Yoko really hits the ball out of the park with this one, though I haven't felt disappointed with her work in any of the games, so I'm confident she'll do an amazing job on Kingdom Hearts III! I feel like Shimomoura really put her all into this (well before she got involved with the ReMIXes' soundtracks anyway) and that this kind of raised the bar for the standards of the series' music (which I believe to be the main reason why the ReMIXes' reorchestrated work is just so breathtakingly epic). It lead to the tear-jerking beauty of the ReMIXes' OST, and God knows I can barely even fathom how beautiful Dream Drop Distance's HD music will sound like....if they are reorchestrating that music anyway. I would certainly hope they would, I mean it's pretty much the only fully-fledged game in the collection, it's pretty much going to be the game's bread and butter. Yeah the Back Cover and 0.2 stuff will likely have newly orchestrated music to make love to our ears, but if you want to fill up enough to warrant an album it would be wise to make sure you're making material for what is essentially 75% of the whole product. It's the main showcase of the collection, much like KH1 was for 1.5 and KH2 for 2.5, and since both of those warranted full reorchestration I don't see why this one should be skipped. But, Birth by Sleep was also an equally significant title, and they barely put any work into that one, so with that in mind, I could still see them going by without reworking too much of DDD's soundtrack, save maybe a few final boss tracks here and there. I don't know, as long as everything sounds and plays good I'll be happy, but just considering how this is our last bit of HD material before KH3 comes out, I would really hope everyone puts all they can into this collection, especially with the OST, since that stuff get's to stick around with you a lot longer for much more often (provided you can find out where to download it anyway...seriously, put these on iTunes!). Toss up for favourites though, either Kingdom Hearts II, Birth by Sleep, or Chain of Memories. I'll give Chain of Memories the vote cause I feel nobody will pick it haha. Really had a great soundtrack on the GBA. Edit: The HD Remixes definitely improve on both KH1 and KH2's soundtracks so I gotta give praise to them too!
