Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted May 16, 2016 Next week a game called Overwatch comes out. For those of who don't know, it's a really awesome multiplayer game similar to Team Fortress 2 with a wide variety of characters. The game is very fun and it's open Beta recently happened last week. Now something I'd like to discuss about the game is that it costs 60$ for console. I believe that is way too much for that game. Don't get me wrong, the game is awesome! But the amount of content in the game is just not worth the 60 dollars. There's no story mode, just the multiplayer. There is other content like the characters and lots of unlockables, but it feels a bit dissapointing to me especially since there's so much lore behind the game. Not having a story mode is extremely lacking for me especially since the characters are so unique and diverse. The game is constantly advertised using the unique personalities of these characters, so not having a story mode to delve into that is pretty lacking for me. Any future DLC from what I heard is free, so that does make the cost of it a little more bare able especially if Blizzard somehow adds in a story mode for the future. I'm just a little perplexed that this game is 60 dollars when all I can do in it is just play multiplayer. It's basically a 60$ version of Team Fortress 2 on steroids. Team Fortress 2 is a free game. I feel this game should be at least 40$. (From what I heard there is a 40$ version for PC which I believe is unfair for console owners) What do you guys think? I'm going to most likely buy the game anyway but the 60$ cost is really rough for me especially since there's no other content than multiplayer. Mr. Boba 63 Posted May 16, 2016 Good question. Yeah, that's kinda... yeah. Honestly, though, I personally feel like it's definitely worth buying it despite the full price. Considering the fact that you might miss out a lot on the awesome things that Overwatch has. Sure, there's youtube videos showing Overwatch gameplays but that could risk ruining your own personal experience and stuff. And as for the story, who knows as of now? It's a brand new IP by Blizzard in 17 years, and no one knows what kind of direction they make take with it. Maybe they'll add in some sort of expansion or spin-off game that'll focus on the lore and stories in the later future. They've done some stuff like that before. Game's gotta grow Besides, it's just one game. And the future DLC's gonna be free according to Blizzard's words 1 Blooming Marluxia reacted to this
Setrex 1,031 Posted May 16, 2016 The cost on console (it's €70 here in Ireland on PS4) is the reason I'm not picking it up at launch. The Origins Edition seems like an excuse to charge "normal" console prices instead of the $40 it is on PC. I honestly think that the game is fairly priced on PC and if I wasn't dropping €120 on the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition this Friday then I'd have definitely spent the €45 on the PC version of Overwatch. I liked Overwatch and I really like all the cinematics and story stuff they are doing, but the modes available just aren't enough to entice me to spend upwards of €70 for the game on PS4. The game is fun and no doubt Blizzard will support it for a long time like all of their games so I look forward to seeing how the game fairs towards the end of the year, I might pick it up at Christmas when it's cheaper. 1 Aqua7KH reacted to this
Master Juan 574 Posted May 16, 2016 Blizzard content heavily revolves around the multiplayer aspect of its respective game. It may be overpriced in that sense now, but if they don't add a Story Mode into via patches, the price will undoubtedly drop quickly. Right now, however, Blizzard is getting their buckets ready to milk the hype train, so I'd wait a little bit for the price to drop, or wait for a summer sale if you're a PC gamer! 1 Blooming Marluxia reacted to this
Hix 82 Posted May 16, 2016 No, it's just over rated.

Setrex 1,031 Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) No, it's just over rated. Why do you feel it is overrated? If the beta was any indication, then it's a solid game, it deserves the praise it is getting. Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted May 16, 2016 before playing i might have said yes after the open beta no way! i will easily get my 60 outta my copyI played the Beta myself. Don't get me wrong guys, I REALLY want Overwatch. But 60$ for a game that all I'm going to be doing is relatively the same thing? They should at least add some sort of co-op where you're fighting NPCs like waves of robots or something. Something similar to Nazi Zombies or add some sort of sandbox mode kinda like Halo 3. If they added a sandbox mode where we could make our own maps and stuff and games (like Mario Kart Racing and Trash Compacter in Halo) then I can see it's worth. But the fact that there's so many games that have all the content that Overwatch has and yet it's cheap or even free. At least Call of Duty has Zombie mode and a campaign. I know that's a completely different game but Overwatch really should have something more than just constant online matches. And the fact that they're putting so much effort into the characters is dissapointing. I would totally spend the money for an awesome campaign mode where I can experience the stories of each unique haracrer. It just really sucks because I want to play the game so bad but the 60$ is just so rough considering the little content in terms of gameplay you're getting. At least Battleborn has a campaign (although I do admit I haven't seen much of Battleborn yet but the sole fact that it has a campaign is much better)I really hope Blizzard does more in the future. And fast. I'm really having a hard time deciding if I want to spend so much on just a multiplayer game even though I love Overwatch so much. Even the free DLC isn't quite worth it to me right now unless they add new modes and the story mode
Geralt 4,874 Posted May 16, 2016 I think if it's your type of game and you know you'll play/enjoy it a lot it's gonna be worth that price. 1 Blooming Marluxia reacted to this
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted May 16, 2016 I too think that if it's something you're really going to enjoy that it would be worth the price. It may not be cost efficient, but considering you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of the game it would likely be worthwhile. Also, aren't most--if not all--PS4 games roughly $60 when they're first released, if not more? I don't know much about Overwatch personally to say whether it would be worth it, but I've paid full price for games that I knew that I would really enjoy regardless of their content. Hope that helps some! 1 Geralt reacted to this
xxClouDxxmoon 901 Posted May 17, 2016 I absolutely loved the game. But the discussion has come up a few times within my friend group. We don't know 100% at this point if we want to pay full price. It would of been an awesome free to play game, but from the looks of it they are still going to make a lot of money so I say go ahead. 1 Aqua7KH reacted to this

Hope that helps some!Yes, PS4 games are 60$. It's just that honestly Overwatch doesn't quite fit into a typical PS4 game. It's not like I'm buying Call of Duty or a game that I'd regularly buy. I'm literally buying just a multiplayer game. Yes, I enjoy the game and I love playing it and I have so much fun with it, but the 60$ is just pretty ridiculous. Just imagine paying 30$ for I don't know, just BBS' multiplayer mode. Games like Overwatch are completely free. I just honestly kinda feel like I'm paying money for a game that should be much cheaper. I admit I'm not a huge multiplayer person (I much prefer co-op) but I absolutely love Overwatch. I just feel like for a game to be that price Blizzard should have much more content available. For example; Call of Duty. Sure, I buy Call of Duty literally for Nazi Zombies, but that's just 1/3 of the whole game. I payed for a full game that has many modes and whatnot. Even if I mostly play Zombies, from time to time I enjoy messing around with campaign and regular multiplayer. But no matter what the 60$ I payed is well worth the game. It's hard to explain. I just wish it was cheaper. I keep trying to tell myself that it's that price since the DLC is free, but still. Another problem I have, is that I'm actually going to be getting a Capture Card for my birthday which happens to be basically when Overwatch comes out. I'm buying the Capture Card for myself and it's really expensive. I'd love to get Overwatch as well but I really don't know if I'm willing to spend all that money for a game that only has that core mode.

That's just how games are priced for console now a days, imo the replay valve of the multiplayer makes it worth it. That being said the PS plus that I would end up paying for the game doesn't because I know I would be playing it for years and that's a lot of money for online....man I hate that Xbox ruined online ps4. I'm sorry, I just have a huge personal bias against First person Shooters. I also feel that guns are some of the cheapest weapons to kill people with. I like Splatoon because it is not in first person view and because the weapons are cool. (I main the Slosher Deco, it's OP)

Like there's swords, shurikens, grappling hooks, among a bunch of others. Some characters specialise in support so you can heal team members and stuff too. Though I can understand if FPS' aren't your cup of tea, I personally am not very good at them and tend to stay clear, but I gave the Overwatch beta a shot and it was fun. Splatoon is great too! Really interesting take on the shooter genre! I'd love if/when Nintendo make a sequel!

Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted May 18, 2016 I don't think it's overpriced. Then again, I'm getting it for free seeing how my friends is preordering this week on his PS4 and I have his account on my PS4 to get it with. Gamesharing is wonderful.
