Lady Aleister 1,677 Posted May 2, 2016 Hey guys I just have had some stuff really really bothering me lately. And it all revolves around my High Schools yearbook. We gave out the yearbooks that me and other students worked on since August, this past Thursday. Before the yearbooks were handed out, two students pointed out something to the advisor of the yearbook. By the way, the yearbook advisor is my father. A yearbook student inserted a very very rude comment about a teacher, and it was apparently a collaborative effort between one student (we'll call her H) and another student who was a main editor (We will call her A). So H confesses to my dad and says she in fact did put that in there. A was found out a couple days before because she photoshopped beards and dinosaurs in places. Well these "harmless" beards and dinosaurs and that comment...could cost my dad his job. We have mothers, fathers, students, and teachers enraged at the yearbook staff. Not because of the little add ins, but because of our honest mistakes in the yearbook. Mistakes like misspellings, and just white spaces we wouldn't fill up. The principal came to our class the next day. Both H and A could be facing criminal charges because of the things they did. My dad is also being watched by the principal, and a School System board manager. The principal then preceded to yell at us, saying we should be ashamed and will eventually all face disciplinary actions. But what did we do?? We are not A and H. Me, and my friend (Lets call her E) were accused of putting rude senior quotes under people's names who did not have a yearbook quote. Both me and her will most likely be sent to in school suspension for three days. Even though A did this action, and we have proof. We are being falsely accused. He than told us underclassmen, that we should be ashamed of ourselves. Telling me and my best friend (We'll call her T) that we do not deserve to be in the 11th grade. I am just really really upset about this. My own father is lowering my grade to failing in that class, and might loose his job. I have not ever ever gotten in trouble at school and this will to be honest ruin my image. We are republishing the yearbook with another 200 copies, but that is "not good enough" according to our principal. I don't know what to do. I am devastated, and not making a mountain out of a molehill. This could lead to my family having to move away. My dad not being able to get a job again. I just wanna throw up. Hargleblargleboo 979 Posted May 2, 2016 wtf? That's messed up. Okay, they really need to calm down if this is true. This is ridiculous.
RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted May 2, 2016 Question. When adding comments and content in the yearbook, don't they do a check-up or something just to make sure these comments or other content are A-okay to be put in the yearbook? Like every single thread of content. I would say A and H should be getting all the heat and all of the rage, because of those rude comments, not you, your friend, or your dad. 1 mag77 reacted to this
mag77 405 Posted May 2, 2016 I am so sorry to hear this. I really hope you and your father will be okay and not get punished for doing something that you didn't do. I also can't believe your dad is failing you; he does know you're innocent right? I hate to say this, but if you think your principal is going to yell at you guys again, maybe you should record him doing it. If he is as horrible as you make it sound, maybe you could show it to someone and get him in trouble; cause he definitely does not have the right to suspend and fail all of you because of two students. And maybe if you can, you should switch schools or become home-schooled; your dad is a teacher and he should know what you need to learn, so he should be able to home-school you. Anyway, I hope things will work out for you, your dad, and the other innocent students in your class. Good luck!
VisitJoan 2,713 Posted May 2, 2016 Sounds like your principle is abusing his authority. Ive dealt with this kind of thing before - aperantly high school authority fiqures have "power trip" issues and I speak of this from experience. But the thing about everyone being mad about honest mistakes is worse. Way worse. My friends (who are twins) had a problem with a yearbook once. Basically they only printed one of their pictures and printed the wrong name. All they had too do was explain what happened and they each got a new yearbook. This is my same friend who got a 4 hour detention because she lost her phone and admitted that she had it on her during the school day ( while everyone else texts in class and gets away with it). And we also had a security guard keep us from getting a coat because she had stayed late to finish a final. In January. At noon. So I completely believe you about this whole thing. I wish I could tell to do something other than stand up for yourself, but the sad thing is that will probably only make things worse. If you really want to shake things up, call in sick on the days you have an in school, but I would not recommend that. 1 Marth reacted to this
Awesome Sauce 634 Posted May 2, 2016 All of that commotion just because of a few mistakes and faces made by 2 guys? Seriously? This is the worst bullshit I've ever heard coming from a school, talking bad to the students that worked hard on those yearbooks, your dad potentially losing his job? I'm sorry, but the only ones who should be ashamed are H and A. That Principal needs to calm down and analyze the problem before spouting all of that disheartening "You should be ashamed" drivel and blame the people that caused it instead of going for everyone like an ilogical and lazy person. Gosh, I hate the "If one causes it, everyone pays." mentality. 'Cause something similar happened in French class, which pissed me off (even if it's nothing compared to what you went through. That's what this situation is; ridiculous, and most importantly: BS 1 VisitJoan reacted to this
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted May 2, 2016 Honestly what? What kind of a man is your principal? And who the hell do the community around you think they are? Making a big deal over honest mistakes like misspelling a word and not the editing A and H have done? And I really don't see what's so criminal about what A and H have done (unless I'm missing something here). Like mag77 said, you need something to back you up against your principal. Surely your father can't lose his job that easily. It's just not fair. 1 mag77 reacted to this

Christmas Past 61 Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) Oh man is that rough, I've dealt with something similar occurring to me in 2nd grade and pretty recently as well, though like Joan said above, the principle does seem a bit power abusive and is not being understanding, which is not how an authority figure should behave. He needs to be reported at the very best because it is honestly very childish for someone of that position to act like that, especially saying crap like "You don't deserve to be in 11th Grade" to their own students over a simple mistake, it's gross and irritating. Here's hoping everything goes well for you're family and that That principle is dismissed from his position. If he thinks people are going to face criminal charges over a harmless photo editing, then he really needs to get his crap together. Depending on how the law works in your country, he could be the one losing his job. All that is required is proof to make it happen. Surely the laws in your country don't allow an abusive boss like that. 3 Christmas Past, VisitJoan and mag77 reacted to this

Ouch, sorry to hear that, though I can relate. I had problems too in high school, but luckly my vice principal was really nice and helpful; because of him I was able to graduate early. Hm, actually that's another option: see if you can graduate in December since you'll be in 12th grade. If you have enough credits, you should be able to. Yeah, my family and I also hate where we live. Our house and neighborhood are nice, but the city itself is just... well we've all been wronged by someone here. My family plans on moving once my brother graduates high school next year, so I really hope we can! But like I said before, I hope things will get better for you and your family and friends. Lady Aleister 1,677 Posted May 2, 2016 Update: A may be ARRESTED for counts of "stalking". Every yearbook we handed out was apprently one felony against stalking??? A was just sent to go have a meeting. She has a lawyer and other people with her right now. My father was told that he will not be able to do yearbook next year. We might not have a yearbook at all next year for my senior year. If my dad gets fired, he told me we are moving down south again.
